Sorry, I am just behind on importing fics here from another site. I have 12 days left of this degree, including my thesis! Ahh! Insane, it'll be my 2nd B.A. honours done and then I am doing my Masters! Also, happy belated birthday to Lore (unlockthelore) I know I sent you a different fic, but here is another to celebrate you! 3

Enjoy!

Rin felt warm, no, she felt hot. She felt overwhelmingly hot as she slowly opened her eyes to see white everywhere. She felt a kick in her abdomen and reached down to rub her belly but met something warm and wet pressed against her side.

She slowly became very aware of where she was and how she ended up where she was. After all, her predicament had been her fault.

"Rin," she heard the rich baritone of her husband call her as she tied her bag together.

She stood up slowly and turned to Sesshomaru. She gave him a bright smile as he stood there in the common room with an impassive gaze. "I'm going to go help with the delivery. Inuyasha is waiting just outside. I'll be back sooner than you think," Rin promised him sweetly as she walked up to him slowly. She cupped his cheek and he pressed her hand to his cheek more firmly.

"I don't like it when you leave me in your condition," Sesshomaru told her.

She stared at his amber eyes and saw his concern, his desire to protect her, and his territorial nature as an inu daiyoukai with a pregnant wife.

His intense gaze always startled her. She blushed even after close to a year of marriage. She bit her lip almost wanting to give in and stay home in his warm embrace. His body temperature is higher than hers because of his inu physiology, he had kept her close all winter, letting her snuggle into him throughout the night..

She sighed softly, "I'm just going to the village. Kagome is too unwell with morning sickness and Kaede had fallen the other day and is recovering. I'm the only one left capable of delivering a baby," she argued gently.

"The taijiya, Kohaku's sister, has had three of her own. Surely, she will be more capable than you are with our pups growing in you," Sesshomaru countered.

Stubborn. They were both so stubborn that Jaken clucked his tongue as the door opened to reveal an annoyed Inuyasha.

"Oi! Rin! The girl is in labour! Stop flirting with your husband and get out here!" Inuyasha shouted.

"Sesshomaru-sama if the child and mother dies, Rin will be terribly upset which could be bad for the pups," Jaken chimed in.

Sesshomaru let go of Rin's hand and turned in a quick whispered flurry. Rin blinked, imagining that she had seen hurt flash in Sesshomaru's eyes. It must've been her imagination as Jaken shooed her out of the house, questioning if she had everything with her. Inuyasha lifted Rin up as she was no longer able to ride on his back with her round belly.

They took off with the sun still high in the sky. She took the time to catch up with Inuyasha, procuring some herbs to help Kagome with her morning sickness. She missed her time with Inuyasha, out of everyone in the village, besides Sesshomaru, she had a very close bond to Inuyasha. He had loved and protected her much like the older brother she had lost long ago. They had bonded over their orphanhood as children, their survival skills, and, funnily enough, over Sesshomaru. As much as Inuyasha griped about his older brother, he still loved him in his own way and vice-versa.

Rin and Kagome both got to witness the tension leaving both of the brothers over the years, more so once Rin married Sesshomaru. Though Inuyasha, with good intentions, had questioned Sesshomaru's motives in marrying Rin. After receiving a fist to the face, Inuyasha was satisfied that Rin was in capable and loving hands, in a way.

Inuyasha yawned as he carried her back home. He gently set her down onto the grass before the small manor. "Rin, he may be in a bad mood," Inuyasha said gently as he grabbed her bicep through the layers of silk.

"He would never hurt me Inuyasha. Besides, he's having a tantrum because I'm so wilful. He encouraged me to be independent, this is really his doing," Rin explained with a smile. "My return home will abate his bad mood. Tell Kagome I love her and to feel better soon," Rin added.

Inuyasha nodded and let go of her arm. "Yes but take it easier. Your pups are restless," he told her before he leaned in, giving her a quick kiss to her forehead. "I want to meet my nieces soon, but not too soon Rin," he told her, showing her a rare moment of affection.

Rin nodded and laughed softly. "I promise big brother! Not too soon!"

Inuyasha nodded and turned back to the village, leaping up and running through the limbs of the trees. She turned back and walked toward the house to see Sesshomaru sliding the door close and walking toward her.

She paused in her step and tilted her head as he approached her, his stripes elongated and thickened. "Sesshomaru-sama?" She called him gently.

"Rin no kimi, you were to return shortly. It is now the middle of the night," he growled out lowly.

"I took the time to wash the blood off, I went to Sango-sama and Miroku-sama's house to bathe. Then Hisui had an upset stomach and wouldn't stop being sick, I checked him over and he had snuck a plant that could have killed him if he ingested more of it!" Rin explained and huffed gently. "I couldn't let him just die!"

"Enough!" Sesshomaru shouted.

Rin blinked rapidly and confused. Sesshomaru never raised his voice, he was always rather calm, if he did get irked he would merely flash red eyes and snarl, getting his way quickly.

Rin saw the red eyes in the darkness with teal irises. She gulped like she had when she was a child. She was scared back then but determined. Now, she walked slowly to her husband, dropping her bag gently onto the ground. She stopped before Sesshomaru.

His fangs peeked out between his lips and he stared her down as if she was prey. She reached up and cupped his cheek as she had done before she left.

It was their way of showing the other that they were there.

Whenever she awoke from her nightmares, Sesshomaru would be leaning over her, hand on her cheek. Amber eyes filling her vision reassuring that he was always with her. Warm hands gently cupped around her soft skin.

"Rin, you carry my pups. You are my wilful wife. How do I keep you home to protect our pups?" He growled at her.

"They are fine Sesshomaru-sama," she told him gently.

Kagome had once asked why she kept calling Sesshomaru with the honorific. It felt natural to Rin to continue calling his name with the 'sama'. Kagome had snickered as they were collecting herbs. Rin had blushed softly as she sat back on her heels. The two of them alone in the woods, just a few weeks after her marriage to Sesshomaru had been finalized.

"Even in the bedroom?" Kagome had asked slyly.

Rin blushed as she responded to her sister-in-law. "It's the only place where it is not tolerated. The breaths for 'sama' are used for other words," Rin responded with left Kagome in a fit of giggles.

Sesshomaru snorted gently, bringing Rin out of her memory. She huffed gently as she took his free hand and placed it on her belly. His hand curved, and molded around her belly. "Sesshomaru, they are both fine. Our pups are…" She started and felt a series of kicks.

"Restless," Sesshomaru finished and knelt down. Red eyes started at her belly. Rin knew how easily it would be for Sesshomaru to tear their unborn children from her belly if he had still despised hanyous. Claws or fangs tearing into her flesh if he desired to be rid of the 'shame' of having hanyous.

Instead, she saw his eyes close as he pressed his forehead to her belly. He let out a low sound, she knew it well by now. It was like a low purr from deep within his chest. The restless kicking eased, and Rin reached down gently to run her fingers through Sesshomaru's hair.

He glanced up at her, eyes still red and blue.

She really didn't know what else to soothe his quiet rage. "What can I do to appease you, Sesshomaru-sama?" She asked him gently as she stroked the tip of his ear.

"You are nearing seven months. You are no longer allowed to attend to deliveries. That will appease me," Sesshomaru told her drily.

"Yes, Kagome and Kaede will accept those terms," Rin hummed out. It had been tiring to sit on her knees and bend over to catch the baby, unwrapping the umbilical cord that had caught around the baby's neck had been a whole other problem in itself. Sango had thankfully accompanied her and did that bit with her careful instruction. Sango had breathed a sigh of relief that Rin instructed her and the baby was fine.

Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed at her for a moment, but there was no lie to detect. He stood up slowly, hand remaining on her belly, "You will not leave my side except for when you are to deliver our daughters," he told her.

Rin blinked rapidly and then crossed her arms over her even fuller breasts. Kagome and Sango had made several comments when she had developed them. Sango even snuck up on her once while the three of them were bathing, cupping them from behind Rin. "Sesshomaru will be dumb if he isn't a breast man, these are bigger than mine!" Sango had teased.

"Not leave your side?" Rin huffed.

Sesshomaru stared down at her, daring her to challenge him. Of course, they both knew she would. As much as she had become a woman and lady worthy of Sesshomaru as his mother had complimented upon coming to the village during Rin and Sesshomaru's betrothment, Rin was still the wilful girl who preferred to run barefoot in the wild.

"What if I have to use the toilet?" Rin added in her cheekiness.

Sesshomaru let out a low growl. "You are permitted to do so, don't be so insolent and cheeky," Sesshomaru told her, turning his head away. "You knew what I meant," he added.

She did but she had learned too much from Inuyasha, including being rude, cheeky, and uncouth. Miroku had been an excellent teacher but was appalled as Rin cursed at her brush. Kin'u and Gyokuto were only a couple months old, lying asleep on the futon. Miroku snorted and told her such language

had been unbecoming of a woman like Rin. Miroku then pulled the desk away, "We will take a break and learn some deep breathing exercises. Center yourself and you feel better," Miroku had promised. Like Inuyasha, Miroku had become a surrogate brother for the one she lost.

"I am sorry, Sesshomaru-sama. Sometimes, I can't help it. Are you still annoyed with your insolent wife?" She asked him gently. She reached both hands up to wrap her arms around his neck. He turned his gaze back to her. "What can I do Sesshomaru?" She hummed out softly.

"Kaede said it is too far along with the pups," Sesshomaru huffed and gently pried her hands off of him.

Rin pouted as she had missed the intimacy between them. But she did agree with Kaede's assessment after she had spotted a very small amount of blood. Sesshomaru had stood stock still outside of the house waiting to know of the wellbeing of her and their unborn children. Kagome had been outside, calmly reading aloud from one of her biology textbooks she had left behind. It was natural to happen, it had happened to Sango when she had carried the girls. Kagome closed the book and returned inside and nodded at Rin.

As Rin knew how to read Inuyasha, Kagome knew how to read Sesshomaru.

"I know," Rin responded gently. "But we can still lay and relax together," told him gently. "What will make you happy Sesshomaru-sama?" She asked him.

She noticed the gentle shift in his posture. He wanted to ask for something, but as his lips parted they pursed back together.

"Sesshomaru-sama just ask!" She huffed at him.

"I want to protect you and the pups in my true form tonight," he told her.

"Okay," she responded with a nod.

Sesshomaru snorted derisively, "You accept that too easily."

"I don't fear your other form, we both know that. Come on, I am getting extremely tired and hungry!" She growled out then covered her mouth.

Sesshomaru's eyes flashed back to amber and led Rin back inside their home. "Food then rest," he told her as he eased her to the floor.

Rin sat on the floor as Sesshomaru stoked the small cooking fire back up enough to reheat the stew that Jaken had made earlier. She watched him move about the room, insisting that she stay where she was. She pointed to where everything was kept and Sesshomaru huffed as he crossed back to the other side of the room and collected an empty bowl, chopsticks, and a ladle.

There was enough for Rin to eat once Sesshomaru put it all into a bowl for her. She ate it and sighed as her stomach was filled. He sat beside her and kept her company silently as she ate.

She yawned as she set aside the empty bowl. "Okay, let's go sleep outside," she told him with a smile. "Are you sure?" He asked her.

Rin nodded and slowly pushed herself up, Sesshomaru standing up quickly and helping her up. "I'm positive. I want to do this Sesshomaru-sama. I expect our daughters will want to as well one day. I accept and love you in any form you take Sesshomaru-sama because you are my husband," she assured him as they walked slowly out of the dining room to the door.

Sesshomaru remained quiet. She knew that at times her words were overwhelming for him. Words of affection were easy for her, unlike for Sesshomaru who said them quietly in her ear as he took her. Sometimes words simply failed Sesshomaru entirely whenever it came to Rin.

Rin knew that her time with Sesshomaru was limited, she was a human after all.

She sometimes wondered if he didn't say the words because they were a reminder that one day soon in his long life she was not going to be by his side. A slow dread always filled her mind, she didn't want him to be lonely ever again.

He was a lonely creature by habit after all.

She had sensed it back as a child after meeting Jaken.

Everyone wanted something from him. It was about gain and benefits with Sesshomaru as their ally.

She promised Sesshomaru on their wedding night to leave him children so he would be reminded of their time together, their love, and that he would have their children to keep him company, give him grandchildren.

Sesshomaru had silenced her with a kiss, deep and passionate, before he pulled back and kissed down her neck, parting her final layers slowly, nervously. He whispered a quiet promise to keep their children safe and well.

Rin and Sesshomaru finally stood on the grass facing each other.

"You will stay there," Sesshomaru spoke curtly.

Rin nodded and watched as Sesshomaru turned to walk away. He walked until he was a safe distance from her. She watched him intently as he transformed, his body giving way to white fur.

When he finally turned to her, she was rewarded with her husband in his inu form. She held out her arms and he slowly walked to her, bowing his head. She pressed her cheek to his warm, leathery feeling snout. She trusted him implicitly.

He pulled back a moment later and Rin backed up a bit understanding that he intended to curl up on the ground.

She titled her head to the side. "Sesshomaru-sama you've grown in this form! At least one more of me in height," she told him with a smile.

Sesshomaru snorted at her and slowly curled up on the grass, red eyes staring at her waiting.

The Lady Mother had told Rin that Sesshomaru was still growing as an Inu daiyoukai. Another time Myoga once had asked Rin if Sesshomaru was able to communicate yet while in his inu form. Rin had been confused by the question. Myoga then folded his arms and nodded. "He's stronger than milord was, but he has yet not obtained the capability of speech in that form. Perhaps he will be like Gobodo-sama then," Myoga said and then explained more about an inu daiyoukai's nature to her. The little flea demon had served two generations of the clan, he would one day serve Inuyasha's child, Jaken would serve Sesshomaru's.

Rin smiled and walked over to him. "Sesshomaru-sama, shall I lay here?" She asked him as she pointed to his forepaws.

She watched as his head dipped down, looking at the spot. He may not have had speech in his inu form but he certainly understood her. He looked back to her and she approached between his paws. She knelt down and his body shifted and curled more again. The warmth of his body behind her. She was accidently swatted by his tail as it swooped in to block out the night's chilled wind.

Rin let out a small noise and Sesshomaru made a noise of his own, one of annoyance at his own tail.

"It's okay, Sesshomaru-sama. It surprised me, that is all," Rin said as she adjusted on the ground and rubbed his leg. Sesshomaru laid his head down close to her and she smiled as she leaned against his head. She rubbed the side of his face, stroking gently. "I love you Sesshomaru-sama. You are very good at protecting me," she told him softly before yawning.

Sesshomaru chuffed gently and moved his head into her, knocking her gently onto her back. She understood the message: shut up and sleep, Rin no kimi.

She saw his red eyes staring at her before he gently pressed his nose against her belly, his eyes closed for a moment and Rin understood that he was content being close to her and the babies.

She had found his language of 'pups' strange at first, but she quickly understood it as the same as babies to him. Even Inuyasha was referring to her and Kagome's unborn children as pups.

Rin closed her eyes and reached down to gently stroke his muzzle. "Goodnight Sesshomaru-sama," she mumbled softly before drifting off. The warmth of his body and the soft purring that rumbled throughout his body had worked together to lull her to sleep.

Rin tried to push Sesshomaru's snout away. He huffed and nuzzled her side more. "Sesshomaru-sama…pee," she whined tiredly.

Red eyes opened and she made another plea to let her go. He uncurled around her and he pushed her up with his snout. She stood up and walked away from him. She felt two arms grab her and lift her as her legs were asleep from where he mostly kept his chin for the night.

"Sorry," she hummed out.

"I slept on your legs," Sesshomaru told her as he carried her across the manor's outside path. "You slept too? I'm glad you rested," Rin said gently.

"Hn," Sesshomaru intoned out and stopped before the bathroom. A special little closet shaped room that served its purpose.

Rin exited the small room and saw Sesshomaru standing with his back to her. She wrapped her arms around his middle, glad he wasn't wearing his armour or swords. It was a sign of his comfort in their little home.

He had decided to let her stay with her new family, Kaede as dear as a mother, Inuyasha and Miroku as brothers, Kagome and Sango as sisters. She had friends in Kohaku and Shippo. She had nieces and a nephew in Sango and Miroku's children. Sesshomaru hadn't wanted to take her away from them, even though he said it was merely convenient for them to be close to someone who knew how to deliver babies.

"Sesshomaru-sama are you feeling better now?" She asked him.

"Hn. As long as my wilful wife doesn't leave my side again then I am fine," Sesshomaru told her.

"So," Rin smiled and buried her face into white hair that hung down his back. "You will accompany me to collect some herbs and things from Kaede?"

Sesshomaru grabbed her hands and sighed heavily. "Perhaps I should have made you promise to keep Jaken close," he said lowly.

"But I promised to stay with you! I can't go with Jaken-sama," she quipped.

Sesshomaru glanced back at her as she leaned up and smiled at him. He huffed and turned his head back. "Insolent as always," he told her.

She saw the small smirk on his face though. He was happy she wasn't a meek wife or woman. She was still the same as she was as a child when it came to bantering. Age could not take it from her, despite Kaede's best efforts to raise her to be a refined lady.

Rin's quick wit had even impressed the Lady Mother into a laugh once and Rin regarded that as her crowning moment of acceptance by the impressive female inu daiyoukai, her mother-in-law.

"Sesshomaru-sama, do I have permission to go to the village or will you come with me?" She asked him again.

"I am a man of my word. As your husband, I will accompany you," he huffed gently. "The pups are more settled by my presence anyways," he added.

Rin let go of him. "Yes they are. They very much love their Father already. You said daughters, were you able to tell their gender?" She asked Sesshomaru as she moved to stand beside him.

"Yes," Sesshomaru answered and glanced down at her as she rested her head against his shoulder, taking her hand into his own.

"Both of them?" She asked.

"Yes," he repeated.

She smiled. "Maybe they will be identical like Kin'u and Gyokuto are? Maybe one will look like you and the other like me? Maybe we'll have a boy next time?" She hummed out happily.

"Rin, they will be what they will be. For now, we should get breakfast," he told her as her stomach made a small growling noise.

Rin laughed softly and nodded, letting Sesshomaru lead her back into their manor.

Whatever their daughters would look like, she knew Sesshomaru already loved them. He didn't even have to see them to love them as much as she did. Their daughters would be loved and have a strong father to protect them and a mother to cherish them while she still had life.
