Chapter One: First Day
It was the first day of Lucy Hare's sophomore year at Corneria Central University. She was always a morning person, as opposed to many other college students. With a coffee cup in her hand, and a spring in her step, she left her father's estate at the prompt time of 7:30AM Corneria Time. There was no point in staying in a dorm on campus, as her father's estate was just on the edge of Corneria City, only a ten minute drive to the campus. Also, Lucy preferred solitude, and having a roommate sounded like a nightmare. Her first class was her physics lecture. It lasted for about 2 hours, and was filled with the typical first day of class stuff. Going over syllabi was never too fun, but what she dreaded the most was doing icebreakers. Most professors usually do not force their students to take part in that, however there are some that do. Lucy was on the more reserved side, and she dislikes having to speak in front of class. She is not necessarily anti-social, just shy and quiet. She did not have many friends, but she preferred it that way. Thankfully, her physics professor spared her the suffering of having to speak in front of the class. After two hours of going over the course syllabus, the students were released. Lucy's next class was at 11AM, and it was an intro to psychology course. All students were required to take a social science class during their sophomore year. Lucy only took the course because she had to, but she figured it could prove interesting.
She entered the lecture hall ten minutes early and was one of the first students to enter. She found a seat that was away from the other students, but still close to the professor. She preferred to sit alone, as she found it easier to concentrate without others around. Just as she was setting her things down, another student entered the lecture hall. He was an otter, who was rather on the short side. Lucy herself was not the tallest rabbit, but this otter was shorter than her. Most of the population was canines, so an otter was a rare sight. He casually walked to where Lucy was sitting, and plopped himself down right next to her. At first bothered by this, Lucy decided to just accept it. The otter looked over at her and smiled.
"Hey! Its Lucy, right?" the otter asked with his smile never leaving his face.
"Wow, usually I just get asked if I'm Peppy Hare's daughter." she replied in a way that sounded of both anger and genuine surprise.
"Aw naw, I'm not like that. It must be exhausting to always be known like that, like you're the product of somebody else. People should really take the time to get to know YOU." he responded in a charming and comfortable tone. Lucy liked the way he spoke, and he was able to say exactly how she felt. Somebody finally understood. Lucy smiled and stared into his aquamarine eyes, and she really did not know how to respond. "Speaking of getting to know you, are you free after class?" he asked, hoping she would say yes.
"Yes I am." Lucy answered.
"Would you like to go get some coffee?" he asked, but he already knew the answer.
"That sounds great, but uh, what's your name?"
"Oh, my name's Ozzy, Ozzy Mann."
In the past, many people have tried to date Lucy, but only did so to leech off her money and reputation. Lucy had become good at seeing through people to determine if they were genuine. Ozzy had made quite the impression. Throughout the rest of class, she would periodically look over at him and smile.
