This is my first story so it probably won't be good as other stories on this site, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. In this story, my oc goes to the world of Konosuba and gets his ability from A Certain Useless Goddess. This power is based on a page from the 'Superpowers Wiki', if you're curious look it up.
When he arrives in Axel, I want to write about how he's put into various situations that he gets out of, using unorthodox solutions, that causes everyone, even those with little common sense (which is, basically most of the cast, but especially the Axis Cult and Crimson Demons), to be shocked at either, a solution they also could have done, but never did due it never crossing their minds, or only something my oc can do because of his ability.
With that, lets start the story start.
Prologue: Weirdo
"Pass."
Spoke a dull voice, just after the person in front of him, offered him, and a brown haired teen in a green tracksuit, a chance to go to another world.
He is wearing a simple white button-up T-shirt, with black pants and shoes. He has black hair, dark eyes with dark skin, his face is very average, and is constantly stuck in an expression of indifference. His name, is Av'Rick Mephilis.
"What?! Why?!" Aqua, the girl who offered them, exclaimed.
She has blue hair tied by a hair clip, shaped as a water molecule, wearing a blue dress with a small ribbon and white detached sleeves, and miniskirt that's shorter than normal. She has a beautiful face that can put many idols to shame.
A face that's now twisted in shock, due to how an average mortal just flat out rejected her proposal of sending him and Kazuma Satou, the teen in the tracksuit, into another world, with magic and RPG elements, to battle the Devil King, after giving a dramatic speech about how he and his army have slaughtered, raped, destroyed and... slaughtered, thousands of innocents and that their souls refuse to reincarnate back to that world, causing a population decline.
To solve this, the gods send people from different worlds, who have died young, to this world, to defeat the cruel and powerful Devil King and his bloodthirsty army, which will mean almost certain death, seeing as how nobody they've sent have finished the job. And Av'Rick just rejected her for such an opportunity, with such an apathetic tone.
Her, Aqua the Goddess of Water, who watches over the people who have died on earth, to guide them to the afterlife or reincarnate them, chose to allow these unfortunate souls to have a second chance above all others out of the kindness of her heart (a lie, she's given this opportunity to other young souls before).
Oh yeah, about that last part.
Av'Rick and Kazuma died, and are offered by Aqua to reincarnate, with their bodies and memories intact, into the world the Devil King is terrorising. They are currently sitting in fancy chairs in a room with a checkered floor.
Anyway, back to the story.
"I said, I'll pass, I'd like to enter the cycle of reincarnation please." Av'Rick responded to Aqua's outburst.
After hearing how boring and meaningless it is to pass on to Heaven (Aqua said that you the only residents there are the souls of the elderly and that the only thing you can do is bask in the sunlight. The basic summary of her describing a utopian afterlife slanderously, but unfortunately she wasn't lying), Av'Rick chooses reincarnation to see if he could live a better life.
He didn't have a nice life, but we'll get to that another time.
Moving on, Aqua frantically tries to come up with a reason for Av'Rick to go to the other world. "B-but if you defeat the Devil King, we gods will grant you any wish your heart desires. A-and reincarnation won't always guarantee you a better life, you could end up being reborn as a bug or a plant."
A half-truth, only sinners who have committed great atrocities in their life have a high chance of reincarnating into such pathetic creatures. People like Av'Rick have a better chance of reincarnating into the life of an everyday citizen. But there was no way she was going to tell him that after rejecting her 'generous' offer.
"Yeah, I'm going to have to say no as well." Said Kazuma, while scratching his brown hair, looking at Aqua with his green eyes.
While his main reason for declining is because of how dangerous this other world is, another reason is that he is still irritated at Aqua for making fun of his death.
For you see, Kazuma Satou died trying to save girl from a truck. Unfortunately that truck was actually a slow tractor, the girl was never in danger, he had a stroke and wet himself 'saving' her, then suffered a heart attack and died due to the doctors too busy laughing at his misfortune. Oh, and his family laughed too, after they were informed of his cause of death. Aqua laughed hysterically at him for it.
Aqua is now trying to think of a way of salvaging this disaster she caused that she's too proud to admit, before going back to her 'holier-than-thou' expression.
"Ah, but if it's the danger of the world you are worried about, fear not for we gods will grant you two, one boon each, whatever it may be which will make defeating the Devil King much easier." She said with a smile, not that Av'Rick or Kazuma believe it to be genuine.
But having an OP item or power is something Kazuma has seen before in those isekai anime and manga, which would make life in a fantasy world much cooler and less scarier.
Meanwhile, Av'Rick is considering on changing his mind. Any wish and a powerful ability (not item, he doesn't want to lose something easily in a dangerous world), are something that's hard to turn down.
"Are you lying?" Av'Rick asked, very plainly.
"No! These are gifts I'm obligated to give to you by my superiors, due to how dangerous the world is."
After a bit of time debating to themselves, both teens decided to agree to Aqua's proposal.
Aqua smiled genuinely at their change of mind. It was beautiful, even with a personality like hers.
"Wait, wouldn't we have to learn this world's language and writing?" Asked Kazuma.
"Oh, don't worry about that." Aqua said, summoning two pamphlets and giving them to the two teens.
"For we will grant you the blessing of language comprehension, letting you instantly read and speak the language of the locals. There's also a chance your brains might overload and go 'poof' but thats a very small possibility. Anyway, just pick your skills or weapon and I'll send you two on your merry ways." As the teens were getting to the warning section of their pamphlets, Aqua takes them away whilst covering the caution label, smiling innocently.
"What was that about getting poofed?" Asked Kazuma, he and Av'Rick looking at the Goddess incredulously.
"What ever do you mean?" Aqua responded.
Both teens give her a deadpan look before deciding to move on.
"Now then, choose your boon!" As Aqua exclaimed, sheets of paper containing abilities or items fell from above and scattered around the trio. "Here are several options for you to choose from if you can't think of anything and they're all awesome."
As Kazuma frantically tried catching all the sheets, Av'Rick was thinking of what kind of ability he wants.
"I want Self Supremacy."
Aqua blinked once. Then twice. This is new. Even Kazuma, who stopped organising all the sheets to choose what he wants, looks at the black haired teen, he was sure he would choose something magical, considering that they're going to a fantasy world, but he's never heard of 'Self Supremacy' before. It sounds weird.
"Hmm, you're going to have to write down how it works, as this something no one's asked from me." It's true, many others have either taken one of the sheets or asked something from her she's vaguely familiar with, such as unlimited mana, a tome with destructive capabilities, or a sword that grants enhanced physical attributes to the wielder.
A piece of paper and a pen appeared in front of Av'Rick, grabbing them he started to write down a description of Self Supremacy.
"Hmm... Very well, this ability is acceptable." Aqua said, after Av'Rick handed her the sheet when he was done writing.
Not that Aqua could understand why he would choose such a weird ability.
The power to have full control of your body and mind doesn't sound that powerful or interesting, not like the other abilities Aqua had to grant to others. But at least it doesn't seem dangerous enough to threaten something as powerful as a Goddess such as herself.
With a snap of her fingers, Av'Rick gains Self Supremacy. There's no visual change on the outside but he can feel it.
Afterwards, a blue magic circle appeared, ready to transport the now Self Supremacist.
But enough about having full control over yourself, there's still one more person who hasn't gotten chosen what he wants.
Kazuma is still going through the sheets that he's organised so he can choose which ability or item he wants more easily. He's not really sure what ability he could ask Aqua so he's decided to just see what abilities or items are available for him. But despite what Aqua said (no surprise there) earlier, most of these seem to give vague descriptions about what they can do.
While Av'Rick is testing how his Self Supremacy works, Aqua decides to pull out a bag of chips from... somewhere.
"Come on! Just choose one already you Shut-in NEET."
"Hey! I'm not a NEET or a Shut-in, I died outside of my house."
"What ever, just get it over with. I've got other people to guide to the afterlife, don't keep a Goddess waiting."
Kazuma has had enough. After making fun of his death, calling him a Shut-in and thinking that just because she's attractive thinks she can get away with how she's treating him (and Av'Rick), he's decided he's had enough of how Aqua has treated him.
Standing up, with his eyes shadowed by his hair he faces the Goddess.
"So I can have anything I want right? Anything at all?"
"Yeah, that's right."
"In that case." He says, slowly pointing his finger at her. "I pick you."
Aqua slowly chews on another chip and swallows it, before standing up.
"Okay then, just stand in the magic circle like Av'Rick here, and I'll send you both, on your- Wait what?"
Then suddenly another person appeared. She could only be described as a beautiful angel with shoulder length blond hair and large feathery wings.
"Your request has been heard. Lady Aqua I shall look over the souls that pass on in your absence. Me and everyone are thrilled that you would risk saving the world from the Devil King."
As she said that a third magic circle appeared under Aqua, who started banging on the magic barrier that formed around its perimeter.
"What?! No, he was supposed to choose one of the abilities or items!" She exclaimed.
"Kazuma Satou's wish fits the regulations." Concluded the angel.
"Wait, you can't do this to me I'm a Goddess!" Aqua is starting to cry now.
"Fear not, for once you defeat the Devil King, you shall return to Heaven with a higher rank."
"But I can't defeat the Devil King, I'm a Goddess of Water, my only magic is healing magic. How can I defeat him if I can't fight." Slowly the trio are being lifted in the air.
"Put me down, I don't want to go!"
"Heh heh." Aqua hears, turning her head towards Kazuma
"Thats what you get for making fun of a guy who died. Now I get to use your divine power to defeat the Devil King. I'LL TAP THAT POWER ALL DAY, EVERY DAY AND LIVE THE EASY LIFE!" He exclaims, before laughing maniacally.
Aqua trys to cover herself and turns to Av'Rick in order to ask him to help her from this. But is shocked to see Av'Rick falling asleep and floating upside down after seeing how much he can do with his new power, for now.
"H-hey, wake up and do something! Save me from this perverted Shut-in, please!" She screams, her dignity crumbling away at each second.
"Now then!" The angel spreads her arms
"I wish you good luck, may you defeat the Devil King and save this Blessed Wonderful World!"
The trio fly higher and higher towards a large light above them, with Aqua crying out in anguish, Kazuma still laughing maniacally, and Av'Rick quietly snoring away from all the drama that's happening.
And with that, the adventure starts now!
Axel - The Town of Beginners
One minute after coming into this new world, Aqua is strangling Kazuma whilst crying profusely.
After getting her to calm down and feeling sorry for her (as well as the scene she's making, which will be bad for him if he wants to be have fame and fortune), Kazuma says that if she's so worried about defeating Devil King, then she can just return to the afterlife.
Unfortunately, it turns out that, until the Devil King is defeated, Aqua can't return.
To make matters worse, despite sending many people to this world, the Useless Goddess doesn't know anything useful about this world, such as the geography of the town.
But even with all these set backs, Kazuma can take solace in the fact that he won't be the only one to suffer all these misfortunes. At least someone else is here to share the pain.
...Wait.
"Hey Aqua, have you seen the other guy that came with us?"
Axel - A different part of the town
Meanwhile, in another part of the town Kazuma and Aqua are in.
"So this is another world."

So that's it for this Chapter of my first fanfiction.
As you can see, my oc chose Self Supremacy, as his boon to survive in this new world.
Self Supremacy is a superpower on the 'Superpowers Wiki' website and is a combination of Body Supremacy and Mindshifting.
Every solution, to all the problems, he is going have are based on the applications and techniques of all three if them, though not all at once.
Some of these powers are too op for him to use early, he'll get them later.
To make him stand out even more, I forbid my oc from using magic spells. Thats right, he's not going to be a wizard or anything else that involves spell casting in a fantasy world. Not when he can produce the same effect with Self Supremacy. You'll find out how later.
However, that won't stop him from using magic items or tools, or creating said items for his team mates, I have a few in mind to help make a certain, arch wizard and crusader useful, but you'll find out later. He's going to make changes no one would expect in this world.
As for Kazuma, he'll have it a little bit easier in this story. While he will be disappointed with how hard and unfair a fantasy world actually is, my oc will help him get by when things become crazy and ridiculous.
Speaking of characters I hope I didn't make Kazuma and Aqua too ooc. I hope I am able to write down the canon characters as accurately as possible for thus fanfic.
