Venom could be very protective of the beings he loved. Earth was much like his world, where the fort was the only one that survived. Eddie was more than a host to him. He was somewhat of a friend, just like Peter Parker. The spider had protected him and offered his body to stay during the battle with Carnage when he and Eddie had been separated for a few days. Deep down, the spider wasn't that bad, it just had a great weight on its shoulders. Venom and he were quite similar, they both had loved ones to protect in that dangerous city called New York. Venom has never forgotten the hospitality with which Parker had treated him, he had even allowed him to feed on humans, something that went against the morals of Spiderman. His little spider had gestures that could touch villains from time to time. And he knew that, deep down, Spiderman's dark suit was a kind of nod, acknowledgment, to him. They looked identical when he put it on. Enemies had to be close enough to differentiate Spiderman from Venom. Venom had always been pleased with how nervous everyone got when Spiderman donned the dark suit. His little spider had a strange sense of humor.

That's why Venom protected him and didn't let Loki get close to him. They had known each other for a long time, because in the universe, except on Earth, everyone knew Loki ... and nobody liked him. The villains' bar, which also had a hotel part where villains sometimes spent the night. Tonight, for the first time in the entire history of the bar, there was a hero among them. To celebrate the wedding of Doctor Octopus and Aunt May, Spiderman's villains, who already knew the boy's identity, had decided to take the now-of-age boy to the villain bar to celebrate Otto's bachelor party. But bringing a hero to a villain bar could be quite dangerous, especially when Loki kept watching them. Eddie could argue what he wanted later, but for now, it would be Venom who would take control and defend the spider from him if necessary. As Doctor Octopus' colleague, Venom was not going to allow someone he considered to be his family to be embittered on such a special day.

He knew that Loki was jealous of Beck. Mysterio had caused a sensation, especially among the ladies since he had posed as a hero in Europe, sometimes when Spiderman and Mysterio fought, there was a fan of Mysterio who encouraged him, although in general they were limited to encouraging Spiderman to to take off his shirt. In reality, Mysterio and Loki were quite similar in their methods and Venom suspected that Loki was jealous, because Mysterio, despite being a villain, had something that Loki had always wanted: recognition of the hero.

"What's going on!"

"Nothing, Eddie. Take it easy."

Venom had suddenly stood up as he watched Loki make a suspicious movement with his hands and Spiderman suddenly slip. He knew what Loki was doing and hissed staring at him. Venom's intention was to go unnoticed, but when the Sinister Six stared at Loki, the entire bar ceased their activity and they began to look at them, as if the show they were giving was interesting. Venom watched Beck and Octopus sneakily place Parker between them, to protect him in case there was a fight. Venom felt pride and a sense of protection towards the entire group from him.

"Is there a problem?" Beck asked looking at Loki. It was no secret that those two had never really gotten along.

- Imitator.-replied Loki.-And also a traitor, bringing a hero to our compound. How does it feel, Parker? Knowing that you are stained, that you can never be a hero. The feeling of having a villain in the family. The Avengers will never forgive you.

"I feel great," replied Parker cheerfully. Venom thought he was a little tipsy from the beer he had earlier. "Octopus is a great scientist. Do you know what that means? That we are going to be talking about science for hours on end. It is fun! Finally there is someone who understands me and can do science with me. He is going to be an amazing guy! Besides, I am not the one to tell my aunt what she has and does not have to do.

"Aren't you curious, Parker?" Asked Loki. He was insistent, Venom had to admit it. And a real heavy. He still didn't realize that his tricks weren't working on the spider. And for Loki's sake, it would be better if he continued like this. "What would you be like if you were a real hero?"

"He's already a real hero." Venom answered. He knew that Loki, like everyone else, could hear the threat in his voice.

"Easy Venom" Eddie said.

"He's messing with our spider, Eddie. Nobody messing with our spider."

"You have cheap villains, Parker." Loki continued. "An impersonator of my magic will never be like me." Deep down, you are a child who fights weak villains because he cannot beat the great ones. You cheap hero...

Venom had grabbed him with his tongue, already half swallowed him, when he felt Parker behind him, grabbing him to keep him from eating him. Venom was not happy. Sometimes Parker could be a nuisance. If he wasn't his little spider, he would have eaten him long ago.

"Don't bother with him, V." said Peter. "He's just jealous." He can do a thousand tricks, it is true, but I will always prefer Mysterio. Isn't that right, Beck?

Beck smiled and Venom felt something akin to jealousy. He was envious of how close Mysterio and Spiderman were. It was something similar to what he had with Eddie, he shouldn't blame Peter for anything, because for him, Eddie would always be the first. He saw Loki sit quietly, frowning, as if he was having a tantrum. He hadn't achieved his goal, because bothering the spider was something very few did. What did Loki think? What was going to be special for Parker? What would get under his skin? Parker had his own illusionist, con man, trickster and everyone knew that he would never trade him for another. From the first moment they met, Mysterio and Spiderman would always go hand in hand. As allies or opponents.

It was a strange relationship, something like what Venom and Eddie had.

Venom would watch over Spiderman's back, even if they were enemies. Eddie would take care of Peter Parker at work. Because the truth was that J. J. Jameson was overreaching with all that fake news that he published in the Daily Bugle, painting Spiderman as if he were the villain. Perhaps Venom would have to pay him a visit.

"You can't Venom, he's our boss. If you eat him, he won't pay us and we'll have to find another job." Eddie reminded him.

"But he messes with our spider, Eddie." Venom complained. "He must pay for all the suffering he is causing you."

"Don't think about it Venom" Eddie said. "Now is the time to enjoy and have fun. Otto is finally getting married, it seems that in the end he was able to find someone who loves him as he is, with his defects included. That doesn't happen every day."

"You're right Eddie. Now is the time to celebrate that Octavius has someone who complements him, just like you and I have each other."

Peter, like the rest of the group, slept in one of the rooms of the inn, too tired to go home safely. He wasn't drunk, Spiderman couldn't get drunk, because if he was drunk, none of his villains would have let him invite Beck to a dance, or retire to a shared room. On second thought, maybe Beck and Peter were closer than they wanted to appear. Maybe Beck was Peter's in more ways than one. Maybe Loki was jealous for more than one reason and being what he was, the only way he had to annoy Beck was by calling him a phony, but maybe lately he was protesting too much. You can't cheat a scammer and that Beck and Venom knew very well.
