Alrighty, so here's something a little different that I wanted to be making for a while now. Something like this was on my now deceased Wattpad account before it got deleted, and that was making backstories for some of my main OCs. :)

The way these backstory stories work is that they are actually told in first person rather than third person like my stories usually are. This is just to change things around, y'know? It was in my mind for a while now. The only time that it is in third person is during some small sections at the beginning in some chapters.

But anyways, here's the first chapter of this backstory for the twins. Enjoy! :D

Calamari County is a very interesting place home to many Inklings across the world. It was a small place, yet, it was very calm and peaceful. Those who lived their adjusted to this peaceful lifestyle, and probably would stay like that for a long time.

This even goes for a friendly, protective Inkling couple: Rebecca Inkainkupawa, and Alex Ikainkupawa. Rebecca was the more friendly and gentle of the couple. She has yellow long hair, pink eyes and light skin, along with the herbivore tee, black shorts and white sneakers. She also wore glasses to help with her eyesight, as she is nearsighted.

Alex also has light skin similar to Rebecca. He has navy blue hair tied up into a ponytail. He has gray eyes, and wears a white coat, black pants, and brown boots. His casual clothing consists of a black or indigo t-shirt, or a white tank top whenever at home sometimes.

One day, the two had their lives changed forever when they had children. They had two in one birth. And, surprisingly, both of them were born at the same time. Twins in one birth that were born at the same time was rare to come across!

The first twin was a red Inkling boy. And the second twin was a cyan Inkling girl. Rebecca and Alex gave them names that'll cherish their family forever.

They named the girl "Mia," and they named the boy "Redd." Alex came up with the idea, and decided to add in the extra D to give it that extra flair.

These two twins will soon enjoy their newborn life here in Calamari County... getting along well together, and having the best time of their lives.

-Redd's POV-

I run outside onto the deck, a wide smile on my face. It looks very beautiful outside today! It's a wonderful spring day today, and I am excited! The sun is shining bright, and the birds are chirping. I already love it!

I was currently wearing my clothing perfect for this weather. A red t-shirt, black shorts, and some red sneakers, too! My name is "Redd," so the name derives thanks to help from the color. Oh, and I also have a cap on that is also red! I love caps! They feel cozy, and I like how they look on me.

I was ready to run out to the grass now that I have my sneakers on. My happy look only seemed to get happier when I looked over to the swing set! Mommy was pushing Mia on one of the swings. I wanna join! I wanna join!

Feeling my excitement take over, I stepped down from the deck's small staircase that only had four stairs. I sprint on over to the swing set right away! Mommy! Mia! Wait for me, I wanna join in, too!

"Higher, Mommy! Push me higher!" I heard Mia say in between her giggles.

"Hee hee, if you say so, sweetie." Mommy giggles along. She answered my twin sister's request, and began to push Mia higher. Mia was going so high! I was amazed just by looking at it!

"Wheeeeeeee!" Mia cheered as her swing fun continues. She held onto the side chains of the swing, and she sure is having fun going so high on the swing! It looks so fun!

Mia was wearing a gray t-shirt, black shorts, and some yellow sneakers. It went well with her cyan hair that swooshed along with the wind! Mommy was wearing what she usually has on. A black and white striped t-shirt, and white sneakers. However, the shorts were still the same as Mia's.

My twin sister looked over at me. I smiled and waved at her.

"Mommy, can I slow down now? I wanna get off." Mia asked as she turned over to Mommy.

"Of course, sweetheart." Mommy said. She then stops the swing to help Mia out. Mia then hops off and runs over to me.

"Redd!" Mia says. She hugs me, and I hug back as we spin around. Once we stop spinning, we look at each other and giggle, with big, big smiles!

"It looks so nice out today! Wanna play?" I ask to my sister.

"Yaaay! I wanna play! I wanna play!" Mia squeals along. I laugh and giggle. I did want to join on the swings with her, but at least I'll be playing with her now! Ngyes!

"Okay, squids, you two go ahead and have fun," Mommy told us, "I'm going to help your father cook dinner. I'll be out shortly to watch over to you. Don't go out too far, okay?"

"Okay, Mommy!" Mia and I say all together. Mommy shows another one of her soothing smiles, then she heads back inside to help Daddy.

Meanwhile, Mia and I look at each other.

"So, what do you want to do?" I ask her. Mia just shows an innocent smile. I look around the backyard, wondering what we can do. We have the slides, we can jump on the trampoline, or we can play hide and seek.

There's so many choices on what we can play together!

"Tag, you're it!" I hear Mia say. She suddenly poked my arm, and then lets out a playful scream and runs away from me. Aw, she got a head start without warning me! I had no idea we were suddenly gonna play tag!

"Hey, no fair! You got a head start!" I shout from across. Then I immediately run to Mia to try and chase her.

Mia and I had around the same speed. Not anything special, unlike the fact that the two of us were born at the exact same time! I know that there can be a split second margin to tell who's older, but not with us!

So I would continue to chase Mia all around the backyard. It was big, but not too big. And we have all this fun stuff to make it our own little playground! And nothing was near each other, and not too crowded! It was perfect for a game of tag!

I catch up with Mia after 20 seconds of running around. I didn't feel tired at all yet!

"Tag! You're it!" I poke Mia's right arm as I spoke. Quickly, I turn around and run in the other direction! I turned my head behind me as I ran, and I saw that Mia was right at my tail, giggling along with me.

The sky didn't look like it was turning dark yet, but it was cloudy. But warm on this beautiful day! And my sister and I were enjoying tag to the fullest! I never wanna stop! This is so much fun!

Oh, Mia's the best sister I can ever ask for.

After ten minutes of playing tag, the two of us got tired. We lay down on the grass to catch out breath. I close my eyes as I did so, while Mia looked over at me. I look back at Mia, and we would smile. My hearts are still beating so fast from our tag game!

"Phew... that was fun!" I cheer as I placed my hand on my forehead, feeling sweat build up. Then I would take my hat off and place it on the ground next to me, and showing my spiky hair.

"Mm hmm, mm hmm! I loved it a lot, Redd! We never give up on tag!" Mia giggles.

"I like it better than hide and seek. But that can be fun, too!" I say. Mia nods at me, and I just smile.

The two of us then stare at the sky. We looked at the clouds, and even tried to play the cloud guessing game to see what some clouds look like compared to real life objects! But it didn't last long unlike tag. So we continue to look at the sky and daydream.

"Mm, Redd? Hey, Redd?" Mia gently shakes my shoulder as she spoke.

"Hm?" I hum as I turn my head over to her.

"You like home, right?" Mia asked.

"Oh, yes! I love to be home." I told her.

"Me too! But," Mia continued, "Um... do you feel like our home could be better if we moved away from Calamari County?"

"Huh?" I let out a noise as Mia said that, "But... if we no longer lived at Calamari County... where would we go to?"

"I really wanna move to Inkopolis!" Mia says, "I heard that even though it's not big, it's a really cool and colorful place! A lot of kids love it there, and I think we would really love it, too!"

"Oh, me too!" I join in, "I love Inkopolis from what I've heard about it so far! But I do love Calamari County."

"Calamari County can get boring sometimes," Mia says with a sigh, "I know we have our backyard, but other than school, we have no other places we can explore outside to play tag or hide and seek. Mommy and Daddy always tell us to never go too far away from home."

"Hmm..." I think as I look back at the sky. Then, I would stand up once I felt myself get back to normal shape. Mia felt the same too, so she joined with me. The two of us stare at each other eye to eye again.

"Say, Mia. I was thinking about this sometime, and I think maybe you'd like it too." I remembered as I shared it to my sister.

"What is it?" Mia asked.

"When we get older... I think we should ask Mommy and Daddy if we can visit Inkopolis!" I say in excitement as my smile grows bigger. Mia gasps as she shows a surprised look.

Then she smiles along as her eyes grow bigger in excitement. We run to each other and hug again. I'm so glad we have each other! Our bond is so strong!

"Yes! Yes! We should do that!" Mia cheers.

"Yippee! I can't wait!" I say as well, "We can travel and welcome the people who live there that we're traveling, and learning as much as we can! Inkopolis is so fun, so who's to say we can't tell them about how Calamari County is!"

The two of us stop hugging, then we raise our hands in the air and wave them around.

"It'll be so much fuuuuuuuuun!" Mia and I cheer at the same time. I do really wanna check out Inkopolis! Having the chance to visit it with Mia and Mommy and Daddy just feels like a dream come true.

"Mia! Redd! Come inside! Dinner's ready!" Mommy called out from inside the house.

"We're coming!" Mia and I answer to Mommy's call. We look at each other again, then nod once. We ran together back to the deck, so then we can go back inside the house. I'm ready to eat!

"Don't forget to wash your hands." Mommy reminded us.

"Okay!" Mia and I say at the same time again. We closed the door once we went back inside the house, then lock it just to be on the safe side. Mia and I then head to the kitchen sink, and would take turns washing our hands.

After that, we head to the dinner table and sit down on our respective seats. Mia and I always sit next to each other, while I sit across from Daddy. Mia sits across from Mommy.

Daddy soon came along, wearing a plain cyan t-shirt and jeans, and black slippers. He sets down two different plates and two cups of water, along with a plastic fork for each of us. Ooh! It's spaghetti and meatballs! I smile excitedly as I look at the delicious food on my plate. Mia felt the same way, as I caught a quick glimpse that she loved how it looked, too.

I know I heard Inklings are sensitive to water, but this is perfect drinking water to prevent that.

"Hope you enjoy it, my precious squiddos," Daddy said as he sat down, "Your mother and I made this special for you two. Just be careful since it just got done cooking."

"Now, eat up. You two have school tomorrow." Mommy tags along as she pats my head, and Mia's, too. My sister and I would close our eyes as we smile cutely.

Mia and I didn't have a lot of spaghetti compared to Mommy and Daddy. And we only had two meatballs each, while Mommy and Daddy had four. They weren't big, but they looked delicious!

We all dug into our food. Mmm, it does taste good! I love spaghetti and meatballs. It's one of my favorite foods of all time! Although, it does get a little messy sometimes. The sauce is good too.

I grab a napkin as I wipe some leftover marinara sauce off of the top of my lips. I looked at Mia when I heard her set her fork down. She looks over at Daddy, with a big smile on her face.

"Daddy, can you tell the story about the Inklings and the Octarians again?" Mia asked.

"Mia, your mother and I already told you that story many times." Daddy says with a chuckle.

"Pleeeeeeease? Just one more time?" Mia begs.

"Yeah, pleeeeeeease? It's a really good story!" I join in, wanting to hear the story.

"Go on, Alex. Tell them again." Mommy says to Daddy.

"Ah, very well then." Daddy responds as he closes his eyes, smiling along. He takes a sip of his own cup of water, then sets the cup down as he looks at us as he tells the story. Mia and I would continue eating as we looked at Daddy with intended interest.

"Long ago, the Inklings and Octarians would engage in a war for the last remaining territory they had left, thus beginning the Great Turf War. The Inklings were at a big disadvantage, but were saved thanks to the help of a legendary second lieutenant Inkling warrior named Craig Cuttlefish. He led his small team called the Squidbeak Splatoon, which had five members: there's the leader, Craig. There's also Amanda and Lucas Howzit Sr., who were the necessity for helping guard the team against Octarian attacks. There was also Ammoses Shellendorf, who designed weapons for the team and unarmed Inklings, and there's Judd the cat, who was also a big part of the team."

The Squidbeak Splatoon was a big part in helping the Inklings, huh? Mia and I loved it a lot! It's such an important part of history! Daddy continues explaining the story as he eats his plate of spaghetti:

"As the Squidbeak Splatoon would continue fighting back and protecting our kind, the Octarians began to take a huge disadvantage when a plug pulled on the Great Octoweapons. Because of that, the Inklings won the war, and pushed the Octarians underground, where they were never seen again. No one has even seen signs of them for a long time."

"I was thinking after many times hearing that story..." Mia suddenly spoke.

"Hm? Yes?" Mommy hummed.

"Do you think Octarians are good? That we can still give them a chance, and them giving us a chance?" Mia asked.

"I think Octarians can be good. It was sad we had to fight, but I think we can get along with them." I join in, taking a small bite of one of my meatballs afterwards.

"I'm afraid I cannot answer that," Mommy said sadly, "This sort of stuff happened a long time ago, before your father and I were even born. We doubt any of the remaining members of the Squidbeak Splatoon are alive."

"But do you think Octarians can turn good again?" I ask.

"We're not sure, son," Daddy responds, "We doubt the Octarians may forgive us for forcibly sending them underground and starting this whole war in the first place."

"We can only hope. But as of right now, the future between seeing Inklings and Octarians getting along again are looking bleak."

"What does bleak mean?" Mia asked curiously.

"Hee hee, it means it doesn't look bright from a parent's standpoint." Mommy said, giggling before explaining. I still have a lot of words to learn about as well.

"Ohhhh!" Mia and I say, realizing the meaning behind that word. Either way, we kept on eating dinner before our food gets cold. Mommy and Daddy did the same thing.

I love my family! Mommy and Daddy are the best, and Mia is the best twin sister ever! I love having these family talks as we have a delicious dinner, especially after a wonderful game of tag!

But I cannot help but wonder about the Octarians. It just seems like it's been a long, long time since the war. I know Mia has these same thoughts, too. I think Octarians could give us a chance again! I would do the same if they were nice!

I can sense a bright future for them and us. And my family, too. That would be the best even more!

Author's Note: And that's all for the first chapter. So, if you're wondering on the choice of words for the majority of this story, just keep in mind that Redd is only six. So of course him and Mia are going to say it like this when they explain the story through their perspectives. XD

But I hoped you enjoyed the first chapter. I'll be heading out now to brainstorm ideas for more, and maybe even get ready on another story so I can work on that and the other one once in a while.

Stay Fresh, everyone, and I'll see ya next time for more! ;)
