Seresh woke with a start, and choked in a breath. It took a moment for his visor to realize he was awake, and adjust its tint accordingly. As his eye sight came back to him, he saw a deep blue sky the likes of which he had never seen before in his life. For a brief moment, the situation he found himself in was lost to that deep blue sky.
As feeling came back to his limbs, Seresh realized he was lying on the ground. He checked his heads up display, and the HUD informed him that his body was functioning at optimal levels, minus a rising heartrate. Seresh pushed himself to a sitting position and attempted to take stock of his surroundings. He then froze, slowly raising his hands.
Less then two yards from him, another traveler was in a sitting position as well. Whereas Seresh's suit was black, this traveler wore a white suit and their helmet was far more angled then his, most likely of Vykeen make. In their hands was a rather large, two handed black omni-tool. Although the side holo display of the black OT was backwards, Seresh could read it was set to blaster mode.
Seresh started searching for words in his mind, say something to avoid being vented. It was then he realized that he had no idea who this traveler was. Nor did he know how he or they got here. Seresh dared a quick glance around and saw that his own OT was lying ten yards away, under some red oxy plants. That would square with Seresh's natural luck. He dared another glance around. No ship either. Natural luck indeed.
"Who are you?" The white traveler said, the words filtered through their helmet mic. Even with the distortion from the helmet mic, Seresh could make out that this traveler was most likely female. The body type fit as well. When Seresh didn't speak fast enough, the white anom clicked the safety off her OT. "Who are you? How did I get here? Where's my ship?!"
Seresh could hear the panic in her voice, although she was trying to hide it. He could definitely not blame her. That panic was threatening to take him as well, but Seresh was on the receiving end of a threatening black OT, so panicking was only going to get him vented. He swallowed and took a breath.
"My name is Seresh. I have no idea and I have no idea." He answered. He tried to keep his voice level, but it of course cracked. He hoped she didn't hear the cracking over his helmet mic. Stupid thing to worry about right now, he chided himself.
It then hit Seresh that this traveler was in the same situation as him. No memory of before, and just managed to wake up a little faster then him. He noticed that his answers had not given the white traveler any comfort, and he could see her finger slowly sliding towards the trigger. The words came sputtering out of Seresh like the sparks from a welding OT.
'You don't know how you got here. You don't know who I am. If my HUD is accurate, the last memory I have is from a week ago. You don't know where your ship is. We are both in the same boat. If I was here to kill you, I would think that waking up before you would have been part of the plan. Given that did not happen and my own OT is over there should tell you we are both scuttled here. Or I am the worst assassin in the history of the galaxy.' Seresh realized he was speaking awkwardly fast towards the end. He sighed.
There was a painful moment of silence, only broken by some unseen critter nearby that made a small howling sound. The white traveler spent another long moment looking at him and then he heard a snort sort of laugh from her helmet mic. She reapplied the safety to her OT, and then hit a reduce button, and the two handed rifle slid seemlessly into a pistol shape and she holstered it. The white traveler stood up, brushed herself off. Seresh realized he was still holding his hands up.
'Come on worst assassin.' The she said, extending her hand to him to help him up. 'Let's figure out what in Atlas happened to us.'
