It's never too late for a swim, even when the water is almost pitch black as they swim hand in hand up to the surface. If you asked, Alfred about his life and just the wonderful, beautiful moments of it, he'd say this moment as he and his fiancée dove above the surface.

Daina's hair is still wet, falling darkly down her back, like chocolate just touching the night air, and she's gorgeous. Her green tail shimmers even amid the dark waters, and her scales are the finest shade of green that Alfred's ever laid eyes upon, forests full of richly vibrant green leaves adorn her as scales, an image that lacks any mer equivalent description that could even come close. Her scales are lighter than seaweed, more vibrant than perhaps even the most colorful fish could ever compare to.

The only green, Alfred's ever known to come close to her scales in color, are her eyes, so bright green that even their darker shades are gorgeous to behold, are vibrant enough to leave your chest filled to the brim with sea foam like awe.

And under the starlight tonight, her green glimmers brighter than even the sunlight could draw from it, and Alfred is still in awe, just looking at her, admiring the vibrant shades and hues that make up all of her in appearance.

His tail is it's own blue shade, just a tad darker than his eyes, and he doesn't realize that as Daina looks at Alfred, that she sees equally vibrant scales as he sees on her. His tail shimmers brilliantly under the moonlight, as if he is bringing the day's skies back to the night, as if he is a breath of a cloudless Summer day, just waiting to be revealed. Though his scales are more the color of dark-ish blue before dusk, when the sky is just starting to darken, but isn't there yet.

And his eyes are even brighter, pulling the day on through the night right now, leaving his dark golden hair, wet from swimming all day and so far into the night underneath the sea, to be the representation of the sun. Dark and golden, but so beautifully breathtaking that you can't help but look upon him in awe.

They make quite a pair, one as vibrant as the sea during the day, and the other as vibrant as a smooth forest, peeking out with the last rays of light that shimmer through it. They couldn't look more different, despite their tails, despite what they share between them, years and years of growing up together, living as neighbors and close friends, and now, as fiancées, eager for their wedding that is only a few months away right now.

Just for a moment, they shimmer beneath the bright stars of night, the brightest light that hits them tonight, as they hold hands and float gently, half out of water.

And finally, Alfred moves wet chocolate-y hair out of the way, tucking some behind her ears, and as he leans in to meet her in the middle with a kiss, Daina moves to also meet him in the middle, eager for a moment alone together, for a gentle I love you, without an audience more than the stars and the sky around them.
