A New Day
Rick is getting everything he own packed up; he has a long day ahead of him tomorrow. He was going to California, Los Angeles to go meet a young woman who was recruited by the police academy at a young age but she chose to go a completely different route. She was working as a private detective, so his bud the mayor was asking him if he would like to work with her. Rick thought at first that he might decline. But when he saw that Kate was dating a robbery detective saw how happy both of them were together. He made a decision to end his partnership with the detective; besides he thought it would be better if both of them had a fresh start together as a couple. He would stay out of the way. Since he was always in her way; he would get out of her hair as soon as possible. Rick knew that Captain Montgomery deserved the right to know that he was leaving the precinct. Rick would bring everyone a gift as a good bye gift. He had got many things that some people would love; he had gotten his captain some new fishing gear. The boys Javi and Kevin seasons tickets to the Knicks games. Some of the others had gotten gift cards and finally Kate had gotten a gift card to her favorite book store and an very expensive bottle of her favorite wine. He had everything ready to go for when he would drop them off to the precinct. Rick went down to the gym, he need to burn off some of the extra calories. He was taking his gym bag down there, when he entered no one was there so he change into his work out clothes.
At the 12th Precinct
Rick had arrived first thing in the morning; he had the desk Sergeant help him with the huge boxes that held gifts for everyone. When he saw that Captain Montgomery light in his office was on he knocked on his door. "Enter." Rick enter the office, Roy was surprised to see Rick here so early in the morning. "Rick, what are you doing here? So, early in the morning." Rick was looking down at first; but he was trying to stay strong at the same time. "I'm here to say good bye Roy." Captain Montgomery was in shock; "good bye? But, Rick why?" Rick takes a long deep breath; "Roy, you been a really good friend. Now, the time has come for me to move on. I been asked by friend the mayor to go work with a private detective. These are some good bye gifted Roy to you and the others. I have to go; bye Roy watch your six." Rick hold out his hand and shake Roy hand. "Good luck to you." Rick is putting on his sunglasses. Stepping out of Roy office; he looked around one last time at the place he had worked for two years. Then he walks over to the elevator and gets on it. When they reach the lower level he walks off waves good bye to the desk Sergeant. Rick got back inside his car. Sure it hurt deeply to let someone you love go. But it had to be done so she could live a happy life with her new boyfriend; a cop just like her. He should have known better then to force his presence on Kate and her life. He felt like a jackass and a jerk on top of that.
Early the next morning
Rick decided to drive to California; when he got into his car and left. He doesn't notice that a car with three people in it waiting to talk to him.
Back to the three people in the car
Kate, Javi and Kevin were waiting to go inside to talk to Castle into coming back to the precinct. But they don't know that he had already left right before they had gotten there. They got out of the car: but a head guard had stopped them from getting into the building. He tells them that they can not enter without an arrest warrant on them.
Back at Kate apartment
Kate is just sitting on her couch, thinking about how badly she had messed up. Guilt was one of the feelings she was feeling in herself: now that she had find out yesterday that Castle was leaving the precinct and more importantly her. She felt really bad for what she had done. The thing with Tom wasn't meant to happen. But after seeing Castle with a starlet not too long ago. Making her angry and jealous, so she decides to start seeing someone from the precinct. Tom Demming very handsome and charming; easily on the eyes. But was a very boring and not very good in bed. She knew that it was wrong to use Tom the way she did. But the one thing that brought tears to her eyes was the put down not only from her, Tom and Esposito that you're not a cop Castle or it's a cop thing Castle, you wouldn't understand. Then leaving him out of everything. Tears were falling down her face; there wasn't a way for her to call him and apologized to him in person. She could have just told him the truth a long time ago. She was getting ready to call her best friend Lanie so that she could come over so they could talk. Then there was a loud knock on her door. She got up to go answer it; wasn't surprised to see Tom there. But he had a bottle of wine and dinner with him. Kate stomach starts to growl loudly in pain from not eating all day. So she couldn't just say no to him and Castle was long gone so she said; "come on in." Tom walks into her apartment.
Back on the road
Rick has been driving for almost eight hours, he is letting some memories come to mind. He hasn't been back to Los Angeles since he divorced his first wife Meredith. That was one person who he wished that he hadn't meet. But if he hadn't meet her; he wouldn't have Alexis in his life. For that he was very thankful for his little girl.
