Okay so I just couldn't resist. I had to write how Scrooge experience the finally. I don't intend to change anything I am merely providing the last fight from Scrooge's perspective. We are starting on the stares up towards the vortex of the Solego circuit when Bradford told Scrooge he had driven Della into taking the spear of Seline and he made an ill fatale attack.
Scrooge felt it as Bradford kicked him so hard, he flew up several meters and broke through the ceiling only to land hard on the ground. His body hurt and he nearly blacked out but through sheer will power he managed to open his eyes and it almost wish he had blocked out in stead. In front of him was a staircase that led to a platform in front of a half formed and open dome that held the Selego Circet. That worried him but it wasn't what made Scrooge's heart nearly stop, no it was the sight of Bentina, Della and Donald all sitting on there knees. Behind them was Black Heron and his two former board of directors looming over them. All three member of his family was chained up and clearly captured. Scrooge tried to focus enough to get up. He had to help his family but his body was hurting to much to allow him that. His teal bone was hurting from the brutal contact with the ceiling and his left arm and side after the landing. Cause Bradford for having brought this on his family.
"Hey Uncle Scroge" Donald and Della said.
"Fantastic" Bentina said.
Scrooge did not have time to say or do anything as Bradford jumped up through the same hole and towered over him with the sword of Swanstantin ready in his hand. Scrooge felt a grip of fear he rarely ever felt. Then again the situation had never looked quite this grim. He had always assumed he would be able to save his family if it came to that. Right now, he was not so sure. Bradford went down and grabbed him by the neck and dragged him towards the stares. Scrooge was too exhausted to fight as he was dragged up the stares and his legs was dangling over each step. For a person saying he wasn't a villain he did a marveless job at portraying himself and acting as one.
"This is the last adventure Scrooge. The Solego vortex no longer teleport subjects to other dimension it eliminate them from existence" Bradford said.
NO. Bradford couldn't possible so cruel he would toss all of his family in there could he? It couldn't end like that. The kids? His niece or his nephews? Bentina? They were all in danger and his body failed him right now. It could not end like that.
"Nice outfit. I knew I would make a villane out of you" Scrooge could hear Black Heron saying to Bradfor.
That seem to anger Bradford and he let go on Scrooge who felt down to the floor once again as Bradford continued to the top.
"F.O.W.L. has stolen a world worth of adventure and it will all be tossed down forever" Bradford decreed.
Scrooge was deeply worried hearing this. It was what he had feared as soon as Bradford had said this. Even so he looked up he wasn't done yet. If the kids could get here they might have a chance.
"My family …" he began.
"Oh you mean this family?" Black Heron said as she projected an image of the two clones of Webby standing in front off all the kids captured.
Scrooge felt his insides almost turning cold. What had they done to his family? Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby was all there tied up. In the background was Gyro, Ludwig and a young woman Scrooge didn't recognise. They had them each and everyone. Scrooge desperately tried to think of a plan. There had to be something he had overlooked. Something that could turn the tide but what?
"Wave hallo everyone" Black Heron said.
"Hey mommy" the blue clone said as she vaved sounding chearfull like this was something to celebrate.
"Each of them will soon be erased from existence as well. All except you" Bradford said as he pointed to him with the sword while Heron removed the image. "Even if I torse you in you'll find a way back you always do. You're Scrooge McDuck" Bradford said making him look up in anger.
Scrooge would never let Bradford hurt his family without a fight NEVER. There had to be a way around this. As Bradford said he was Scrooge McDuck. He made his name by being smarter than the smarties and tougher than the toughies.
"So here is my offer" Bradford said as he snap one of the his former directors came over and gave him a bunch a papers which he threw at him as it landed right in front of him.
"What's this?" Scrooge asked as he took up the paper and opened it on the first page seeing it was a bunch of papers that was tightly written and filled with paragraphs and clauses.
It looked like a contract but what would Bradford want with that? No matter what Scrooge was sure this wasn't good. Contracts was a speciality with Bradford and if he gave it to him now he could be sure it was written in complete favour of Bradford.
"A contract. I will allow you to return home with your family to live out the rest of your days. As long as you agree to never adventure again and to ensure you can't break this contract you sign there on …" Bradford said.
While Bradford talked Scrooge scrolled through the many pages that made out the contract. Even just skimming it Scrooge could see that it was a very thoroughly contract. It was outlined with several chapters, paragraphs and stipulating all kinds of situations. Even so when he turned the last page he recognized the papyrus that he himself had made lost to time in order to save Della and Donald so many years ago.
"The papyrus of bindings" Scrooge said out loud beating Bradford could do it. He could hear the gasps that both Bentina, Della and Donald gave upon hearing what Bradford had managed to find.
"With the power to control reality making this document both legally and mystical unbreakable" Bradford finished.
"I'll come off it Bradford. If you wanted to get rid of everything unpredictable, you'd had to get rid of your old agents too" Scrooge said.
He hoped it might be enough to make Bradford stop. Surely, he wouldn't go along with that. He was proven wrong as Bradford put the sword into a holster and then grabbed the two other buzzards and throw them into the void. Black Heron looked at two buzzards falling to their doom while she grinned over it. Off course a mad woman like her would do something like that. Scrooge looked as her back was turned to Bradford she didn't see him as he approached her and then pushed her in as well.
Scrooge looked as she too felt into the vortex and he could hear her say "oh Bradford how villainies" as she felt to her doom. Scrooge could feel his fear from earlier return if Bradford were willing to destroy his own teams as well it meant he would have no qualms to destroy his family as well. Scrooge knew he would have to think fast so to gain time he turned to the contract to read it more thoroughly. Well while he thought he might he was thinking he could read the contract in detail. After all he was a businessman, he wouldn't just sign a contract without reading it thoroughly through. It was possible that he could appeal to Bradford on a business level better than he could on a personal one.
As he read more and more of the contract his worries grew even more. This contract held several stipulations. Each was outlined with all the things he wasn't allowed to do. It was bad because the more everything was outlined the less room for finding loopholes and grey areas open to interpretation.
He was not allowed to try and help, support, encourage or interact with his family in a number of situations. He was not allowed to try anything adventures which was both specified and generalised. He could not interact with magical or mystical artifacts in any form of ways. There was no means for him to claim misuse of the contact from Bradfords side. Seeking tressures for the sake of seeking treasures or as part of the adventure was also out of the question.
If he tried to break the contract F.O.W.L. would have free rain to kill all of his family. F.O.W.L. also retained the right to destroy anything and everyone that was considered a threat to the contract and that included his family. The only thing he was allowed was to be in the mansion or work in his offices. Even those physical areas were also stipulated as adventure free areas and if he encountered one he wasn't allowed to interact with it in any way or form. Scrooge had never seen such an airtight contract in his life. If he signed up to it, he was done for it. There would be no means to help his family. There had to be a way to get out of this and save his family. He was Scrooge McDuck he always found a way.
Scrooge turned another page in the contract and came to the papyrus where he was supposed to sign. It was a move he really did not want to restore to especially now that he knew some more of what was waiting for him if he did. He also wondered what ramifications there would be in signing himself to a magical contract. Scrooge read some more of the contract while he mumbled trying to take all of the information there was in at once. In normal situations Scrooge would have spent days going through everything but he didn't have that and he still hadn't come up with a plan to save his family.
"Can we hurry this along?" Bradford asked impatient.
"If I am going to sign my life away. I am going to read the fine print" Scrooge said.
Scrooge stood up and took his glasses off like it was hard seeing through them. It gave him an idea.
"Oh, a smut on me spectacles. Sorry I'll have to go nibble me at my backups" Scrooge said.
He began to go down the stares hoping that if Bradford would fall for it, he could save some of his friends and they could help the boys or possible them. At least that way he could save some of them and possibly come up with a better plan along the way. At last, it wouldn't be just surrendering to Bradfor.
"Argh enough stalling" Bradford shouted as he grabbed the sword and shot a blast right past him. It didn't hit but it left a mark right in front of him, and Scrooge turned around filled with worries. Bradford had clearly seen through his effort to stall and was impatient to get things settled. Scrooge knew the shot had not meant to hit him but to remind him that he was not be messed around with. After all he had his family.
"You need some incentive. Perhaps the live of your most trusted alley" Bradford said as he pushed the tip of the sword into the ground.
This made both Bentina, Della and Donald look down again all three clearly fearing which of them would get it. Scrooge had a good idea who Bradford would take. In his worries he barely noticed that he was tugging the papers with his hand. He just looked as Bradford went past Bentina with the sword dragging after him making sparks jump up from it. He was almost relieved when he didn't go after her and also went past Della but the feeling disappeared when he saw Bradford grabbing Donald. He had been right in who Bradford would chose out of the three of them. He couldn't help feeling sorry for Donald having to risk this because of him.
"Donald" Scrooge shouted, and he could hear the two others shouting the same.
no, No, NO. This could not be happening he could not bare to lose another family member. He had lost enough people in his live and he would not risk another. No matter what the price was to save them he would pay.
"What will it be Scrooge? Adventure or your family? You have into the count of five" Bradford said as he held him out over the Solego circuit which held the vortex. Donald struggled to get lose as his leg dangled over the edge and into the free air trying to find something to stand on before giving up. Scrooge knew he would have to sign there was no way he would let this happen if he could help it. Even so he worried if Bradford would spare them. Even if he signed Bradford could still toss each and every one in if he decided they were a threat to the contract and there would be nothing he could do to stop it if he did.
"One" Bradford said as one of his fingers was letting go on Donald's shirt and all his thoughts of what if left him.
"All right I'll do it" Scrooge said he knew he was bested.
Bradford knew him well he knew that his strength was his family, but it was also his greatest weaknesses. He would do anything for them even if it meant he would sign up to a life of misery.
"No, no. Find a way out. You can beat him" Donald shouted as he struggled to get lose once again.
"It is not worth the risk lad" Scrooge said as he took the pen out of his pocket and activated it.
Scrooge didn't hesitate as he wrote his signature on the papyrus but he was still worried and sad. This was not how he had intended for everything to end. He had always assumed he would go down trying to save his family from some sort of monster or something like that. As he signed the contract glowed and then circled him before the circle lifted him up. He knew that it would not kill him but besides that he could only guess what it would do as he continued to rise until it stopped. Scrooge tried to look back to see what would happen but the angle wasn't right. Then suddenly gold chains sprung up around him on both sides and dug into his feathers. Scrooge cried out in a mixture of pain and surprise letting go of his pen as he could no longer hold it. The chains dug into him so hard he closed his eyes because of the pain it brought to him. He could feel how he was slowly being lowered again.
"I did it. The great Scrooge McDuck now just a poor, old man" he heard Bradford say as he floated back down and was around the same eye level as Bradford.
Even so he didn't look Bradford in the eyes as he continued to have his eyes shut trying to alleviate the pain in his body over the tight chains. It was first when he landed back on the ground, he opened his eyes and looked up anew. The chains around him stopped being visible but he could still feel them around him. They dug into him but right now he didn't care. All he cared about was that he had done what Bradford had asked. Now all he could do was that he would put Donald safely back down.
"Normally I wouldn't indulge in petty villainy but since it is a special occasion" Bradford said before he let go making Donald fall into the vortex standing laughing manically like it was something to be celebrated.
"NOOO" Scrooge shouted as he saw his nephew falling to his doom.
This was what he had feared when he had signed. He had always known Bradford could be a person going a step to far. He had learned that about him while he was his CFO. Yet he had been able to step in back then it was not an option here. What had he done? He had failed to protect his family. Then he heard the strange sound of Donald saying 'aou' from inside. Scrooge echoed the word confused. How could Donald say that unless ….? Scrooge looked up with hope and saw the Solego circuit being shut down as Donald crawl out of there and fall down and collapsed on the floor. Scrooge had never been more relieved in his life to see his nephew. He was alive. Thank goodness he was alive he was so relieved. Yet how could he be alive? Scrooge turned his head and saw Huey along with Louie, Gyro, the young woman he had seen on the screen and Ludwig … wait how was Ludwig here? Gyro was clearly working on shutting the machine down along with the woman something he was very glad for. It robbed Bradford of the possibility of tossing more people in the vortex.
"Junior Woodchuck rule number 1. Always expect the unexpected" Louie said as he closed his wood chuck guidebook.
"NO. No more adventure" Bradford shouted as showed he raised the sword before he ran out of the platform and jumped down the stares clearly enhanced by the armour.
Bradford while in flight raised the sword upwards clearly with the aim of hitting him and he couldn't dodge it.
"WAAAAHH" Scrooge shouted in anticipation of being cut in two, with no other options than to take the hit. He turned his head and closed his eyes while waiting for the blow to come. Then he hard the sound of clang of two metal objects colliding.
"Get away from my dad" Webby's voice was heard shouting out loud.
That made Scrooge open his eyes and look up in surprise. Webby was standing in front of him holding Bradford away from him by using the two broken parts of his cane as a shield.
"Wait what?" he asked utterly surprised how had that happened?
Before Scrooge could think further about it or say or say anything else Dewey jumped from the platform hitting Bradford in the face shouting 'Dew rocket' at him as he landed on the ground.
"Run" Dewey shouted to him.
Scrooge leaned to the right only for the chains to become visible and cut him off from leaning any further. Then he tried to the left only to get the same result. Just like the contract had stipulated he would not be able to do anything that could be encountered as a participation in an adventure. He couldn't even move out of the line of fire as long as the contract stood.
"I can't" he shouted to them.
Even while he was trapped he got an idea. He had to find a way for Bradford to nullify the contract himself. If he could find a way he could free himself and help his family. As Bradford refocused as Webby turned her back to Bradford and looked at him.
"Somebody get the contract" Webby shouted as Bradford pushed her aside and jumped for the contract that laid on his right side.
Even though the contract wasn't that far from him, but he couldn't move and therefore couldn't reach it. He saw Louie make a run for it and jumped after the contract. NO. If Bradford were faster Louie would be cut in half by him. This made him lean to his right hoping to take the blow if necessary. Off course he did not get as far as the chains once more cut into him. Scrooge hated that his family was risking their lives to try and save him. Despite his futile attempt to get free he was relieved to see Louie was a little faster as he slides in and grabbed the contract mere seconds before Bradford.
Desperate to try and get to lose he turned to the left and leaned as far as he could in an effort to get lose of those confounded chains. He watched as Louie ran around him with the contract under his arms followed close after by Bradford. Louie ran as fast as he could while Bradford felt down to call upon the swords power. This made him even bigger as he used the sword to call on the energy to form a large ball of energy clearly with the aim of hitting them with it. NOOO. They had to get out the way before he fired all that power at them.
Louie grabbed Huey and hid behind the main computer just as Bradford raised now being even bigger than before and sent the energy after them. While the two of the avoided being hit the young woman tried to block it for Gyro and Ludwig but all three was hit and nearly made them fly off the roof. Scrooge cried out for his friends, but no one heard it in the noise. Seeing his friends hurt made him struggle once more but it did not change a thing. He was still trapped while his family and friend were in danger. This couldn't be happening. He was supposed to protect them not the other way around. If only he was not bound by that blasted contract. Even as he thought as fast as he could he could not think of anything making Bradford release him from the contract. Scrooge's line of thoughts was interrupted when Bradford talked.
"Aargh look what you turned me into. A faced villain" Bradford shouted in anger.
Scrooge had been so worried for the boys he had not seen that Della and Bentina had been freed and now was joining the fight. Using the chains that had held them to try and contain Bradford.
"The sword of Swanstantine amplifies who you are inside" Bentina shouted.
"This is all you, you buzzard" Della concluded.
The two woman tried to keep him down but the armour made him stronger than the two of them combined and he used that strength to lift his arms making the two raise up and fly through the air to collide with each other in the middle and fall down. Scrooge looked with worry at them as they landed hoping they were both okay.
Bradford moved towards him and it was clear that he was aiming at getting to him. Scrooge leaned to his right side once more only for the chains to tighten and cut him off. Desperate to get free he tried to lean to the left only for the same to happen while Bradford came closer. As Scrooge had turned around (at least turned as much around as the chains allowed him too) to watch out for Louie, Huey and all the others he didn't see Webby and Dewey com running from behind him. The brave lad and lass stepped in front of Bradford holding their arms out. A clear signal that they did not want Bradford to come any closer to him. What where they doing? The two would be hit if Bradford decided to do anything for them. Scrooge was proud for them trying to protect him but right now he was much more terrified for them. Bradford could cut both of them in two with a single motion. Scrooge opened his mouth to shout for them to move out of the way before they got hurt. Fortunately, before it came to that Bradford choose to simply jump high over all three of them and landed on the stares.
Scrooge could feel the relief as he turned around at least Bradford would not go after Webby and Dewy. He was glad for that. He was not about to risk his … well daughter and son for this. Unfortunately, Bradford raised the sword behind him in an effort to use it to form a new blast of energy. The lightening struck and it seem to only grow and grow. Scrooge knew it was meant for him. He once more fought against the chains trying to get lose but there was nothing to be done. This time he was done it for. There would be no one to help him get free of this one. It would hit him. Bradford fired the blast and all he could do was to stare the shot as it neared him. This was it, no one would be able to save him this time. Scrooge hoped his family would know how much he loved them all.
Then as he had all but given up on being saved a barrier raised in front of him and was held up by Donald. Scrooge heart soared upon seeing this. The blast pushed both the barrier and Donald backwards toward him, but it managed to hold it. He was so glad and proud. Donald was saving his life just he had saved him.
"Donald Duck" Scrooge said making sure that every syllable was given warmth and proudness. He wanted him to know how grateful he was in this very moment. This made Donald turn his head to him.
"Uncle Scrooge" Donald said sounding every bit as proud and warm as he felt right now.
Bradford increased the power and Donald was pushed further back towards him. Scrooge instinctively looked to his left in the expectations that the power was too much and he would be hit. Bradford seemed committed to let him being hit. He could feel the chains dig into him over this.
"A truce sounds good right around now" Scrooge heard Della called making him open his eyes seeing Della come over and trying to hold the barrier as well.
Then came the two clones of Webby to join them as well. Shortly followed by Webby and Dewey and then Bentina and as the last one came Huey and Louie. They all stood there trying to hold the barrier up to protect him knowing he would not be able to move out of the way if they let go.
"Bless me bagpipes" Scrooge muttered in happiness over seeing them all doing so much to protect him. No one could hear him over the noise of the blast that continued to be fired at all of them.
"The only way to break the papyrus spell is to find a contradiction on the papyrus" Huey explained.
"This contract is airtight. Scrooge only gets his family if he gives up adventure" Louie said.
It was the same conclusion Scrooge had arrived with when he looked it through. Yet now the realisation hit him. That stipulation was in itself a contradiction. It could not be one or the other. Family was the greatest adventure after all. Scrooge was about to shout that to the kids when they all shouted ding clearly realising it themselves. Oh, they were such bright young lass and lads. Encouraged by the realisation Scrooge started to fight harder against the chains. He was going to get lose no matter what.
"Bradford your contract is flawed" Huey shouted.
This made Bradford stop his attack and raise up.
"What? Impossible" Bradford said as the barrier felt down.
"I worked on it for 30 years. Went over it with finest tooth combs" Bradford dismissed them.
"According to this Scrooge can be with his family as long as he doesn't adventure" Louie said with his usual brash confidence.
"But family is the greatest adventure of all" Huey shouted exited at the prospect.
"That's … the stupidest thing I ever heard. There is no way that …" Bradford began protesting still holding the charged sword.
Even so the papyrus and contract began to disintegrate itself flyting through the air in tiny pieces. This made Bradford panic as he tried to grab the remains while shouting 'NOOO'. This made him drop the sword who landed on the ground firing a blast. Scrooge saw the blast aim for Webby and struggled to get lose only for the same blast to cut his chains. Now able to move he jump forward faster than ever done so before in order to save Webby. In the last moment he managed to grab her and push her down so she would not be hit. As both of them landed on the ground they smiled to one another before looking up. Bradford's armour was disintegrating as he crawled up the stairs. Scrooge got up and followed the villain. He was not going to let Bradford get away after all he had done to hurt his family. He was very proud and happy to see Webby following after him.
"ARGH, argh. I will not lose to Scrooge" Bradford called out still not getting it.
"You didn't lose to me. You lost to my family. All of them" Scrooge explained as he was joined by everyone he cared for. All of his extended family was there.
The buzzard looks at him before trying to retreat to the top of the stares while the clouds parted. Unfortunately for the buzzard a new group of people arose there as well and Scrooge recognized all his opponents lead by Magica De Spell. He wasn't really interested in a fight with them right now, but he was ready for one if it came to that. Yet it seemed they had another target in mind. All of them glared at Bradford.
"Really and you're supposed to be Scrooges greatest villains" Ma Beagle said with disdain.
"He is not even wearing a kilt" Glomgold said.
"Please no. I am not a villain" Bradford defended.
"No, you certainly are not" Magica replied before she called on her magic aiming it at Bradford.
As it hit him, he was turned into a buzzard. His former CFO rattled his feather before he flew up to Magica's arm. Scrooge stood looking at them waiting to see if they would try and do something, but they seemed to feel it wasn't the right day to fight and Magica simply transported them somewhere else making everyone cheats. Scrooge was not late to participate in that but right now he was more interested in what Webby had called him earlier. He turned to Webby. He needed to know if he had been right about what he had heard.
"Dad?" he asked Webby.
Webby looked down on the ground unsure before she looked back up smiling before confirming. "Dad"
Scrooge smiled to her and turned to the three boys as they all came over. They all nodded confirming that it was ended true. Scrooge could not believe it. He had a child. His own child right in front of him. She had lived in his home in all those years and he never knew but she was perfect. He opened his arms making Webby lean into him and hugging him close.
"Oh, Webby darling" he said as he held her close.
Scrooge saw that Bentina turned around and walking away. The poor woman clearly did not believe she could be a part of the family now that Webby had him and all the others. Scrooge loosened his hold and gently tugged Webby to look up. When she saw Bentina leaving she let go of him and raised after her. Scrooge followed her as she ran over and grabbed Bentina's hand. Bentina turned around and kneeled as she took Webby's hands. There was tears in Webby's eyes as she held out her hand. Scrooge came over on Webby's right side and offered his hand in an open invitation to both of them and Webby took his hand as well. Webby dragged both of them into a hug. They had barely formed the hug before they were tackled by Huey, Dewey and Louie and then followed by Donald and Della. Scrooge fell forward as they all joined in a group hug. Bless me bagpipes he was so fortune to have such a family. They all hugged for some time.
After that Scrooge got up and refocused there was a lot of people who needed to be transported back home. He also needed to talk to Bentina about Webby as well as her actions. For now, he would go to check on the plane. Hopefully Dewy would have managed to land it safely unlike Launcepad. Not that he cared to much right now he just wanted to go home with his family and his daughter. Scrooge started walking down the stares with all of his family members following him he was the luckiest, most fortunate and richest duck in the world right now.
A/N There you have it. Scrooge perspective on The Last Adventure. It has been bloody hard to write it but also incredibly fun. To make sure I really did it correct I been watching the ending over and over to mimic every action and line from the character. Even so I am exhausted. Around 10 minutes of mimic from video to write has taken a fair share of my weekend and resulted in 12 pages of papers. I do hope you like it and let me know. If enough people like and request it I will write this again from another characters view.
