What's up everyone! Hope everyone that's reading this story is doing well! This one was requested by a guest from my previous Owl House/Secret Saturdays story. While I have been working on the F-Zero/Acceleracers story, this has been one I've been sitting on for a while, thinking about ideas. Now you guys get to see(well in this case read) what I came up with! Danny and the others might be a little OOC. Haven't really sat down to watch Danny Phantom since a few days ago on TV just so I can get a familiar with the personalities again.
While I'll still be working on the F-Zero/Acceleracers story and doing updates, this story in particular will be written in tandem with a Dead Rising/Ben 10 story I'm doing. A bit of a triple crossover is also in the works with the Owl House!
This story is after my Witches and Cryptids story, with references and nods made to the events that happened there. But you don't have to read it to understand what's going on here. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Danny Phantom or Owl House! The shows and characters belong to Butch Hartman and Dana Terrace respectively!
[Intro]
He's a phantom. Danny Phantom, Phantom, Phantom.
Yo Danny Fenton he was just 14 when his parents built a very strange machine it was designed to view a world unseen.
(He's gonna Catch 'em all cause he's Danny Phantom)
When it didn't quite his folks they just quit but then Danny took a look inside of it,
There was a great big flash everything just changed,
His molecules got all rearranged!
(Phantom Phantom)
When he first woke up, he realized, he had snow white hair and glowin' green eyes.
He could walk through walls disappear, and fly,
He was much more unique than the other guy.
It was then that he knew what he had to do he had to stop all the ghosts that were comin' through!
He's here to fight for me and you!
(He's gonna catch 'em all 'cause he's Danny Phantom!)
(He's gonna catch 'em all 'cause he's Danny Phantom!)
(He's gonna catch 'em all 'cause he's…)
(Danny Phantom!)

Title Card for this if it had one would be the cover used for the story
It was Friday evening. Danny was playing a video game online with Tucker, with his headset on.
"All right, his shields are down! Take 'em out!" Danny called out.
"Gotcha D!" Tucker said.
"Got it." A third person they were playing with said.
Danny was letting the energy on his weapons replenish before he went to town on the boss as well. This was a limited time event, and with him not having homework(for once) as Mr. Lancer in particular was being generous, feeling that all of his students were working hard, this was probably the perfect time for him to do this event for some useful weapons and hopefully some cool-looking armor. Even Dash was working hard for once, even if it was probably so he could attend some party or stay on the football team and his grades were standing in the way of one or both of those things.
They were about to take the boss out, on their first attempt! It may have not been a world's first, but considering it was a new boss with unique attacks, it was an achievement for Danny and probably Tucker too to take an entirely new boss down on the first try.
Unfortunately for him, he may not be around to experience that victory as his ghost senses went off.
Are you serious!? Now out of all times!? Danny thought.
"Hey guys, I gotta go to the bathroom real quick." Danny said.
"Go ahead, we'll take care of the rest while you're gone!" Tucker said. "I'll deal with the ads! DPS him!" Tucker said, talking to the other guy, whose username was OwlMan2417.
Since no one else was in his room, he could go ghost without worry.
He then went intangible and went to seek out the source of his ghost senses.
He went to the basement and saw none other than the box ghost.
"Why am I not surprised?" Danny said out loud.
"Ooh! I am the box ghost! Soon, the world will-" The box ghost said, before being interrupted.
"Listen, I really don't have time to listen to you right now, so we'll make this quick." Danny said before grabbing the thermos, and sucking the box ghost in it and back into the ghost zone.
He then flies back to his room and changes back, grabbing the controller.
Thankfully, he didn't take that much damage or get kicked. But Tucker and the third guy were in a bit of a dilemma. The ads were starting to grow in numbers and the boss' shield was up again.
"All right guys, I'm back! Let's finish this!" Danny said, smiling.
The same game plan was followed before Danny had to leave and they were able to get his shield down with ease.
"Shields are down again!" Danny called out.
Tucker decided to make a run towards the boss and initiate the Quick-Time-Event to finish it while Danny and the third guy dealt with the ads.
Tucker was almost there. This is it! Danny thought, leaning in. Nothing was going to interr-
Until there was an interruption. Jack Fenton, Danny's dad bust through the door, sporting his usual orange ghost-hunting jumpsuit, he was smiling from ear-to-ear.
"Danny! Are you ready for the camping trip of a lifetime!" Jack asked.
"Yeah, sure dad!" Danny said, trying to keep focus on the game.
"Well, then you're in luck because we're leaving in 10 minutes! So pack your bags son!" Jack said.
Tucker was about to activate it until he was interrupted by a kamikaze enemy that latched on to him.
"Guys, help!" Tucker.
"I'll be right there!" Danny said to Tucker.
"Glad to hear it son!" Jack said, thinking Danny was talking to him before going back downstairs, finishing packing himself.
Tucker was able to get the exploder off before it killed him, but more ads were coming. The third guy was down and needed a revive before he was permanently knocked out.
Danny made the decision to go for the third guy while Tucker dealt with the boss. Tearing through enemies, he was able to revive him, but Tucker had actually failed the QTE!
"Hey, what happened!?" Danny said, as the ads began surrounding Tucker. Danny's weapons were starting to overheat from helping OwlMan, so he would only be able to get the ads off of Tucker one last time before they overheated, leaving him defenseless and unable to help his teammates for a little bit.
"Sorry, cheesy fingers from the Nachos!" Tucker said. His controller was so sticky and gooey from the cheese it was disgusting.
"Really?" Danny said.
"Hey, when a guy's stomach calls, you answer it!" Tucker said.
Danny just sighed and did his best to help Tucker.
"5 minutes Danny!" Maddie Fenton, Danny's mom called.
"Coming!" Danny said.
Danny was able to get the ads off, at the cost of his weapons overheating.
"You guys finish this, I've got to take care of something." Danny said.
Tucker, sticky fingers and all was able to get the QTE done, taking boss out for good.
Danny earned his rewards but he wouldn't have time to see them as he was packing and had to turn the game off.
Truth is, Danny didn't really expect much from this camping trip as his father has been enthusiastic about all of the trips they went to and most of them were… okay at best. But outside of Ghosts, Gaming and hanging out with his friends there wasn't exactly much for him to do this weekend, so he didn't mind at least entertaining the idea of the trip if it would make his dad happy. He wasn't popular enough to get invited to any parties, but it didn't bother him much.
"Alright I'm ready!" Danny said. He saw his parents were carrying ghost hunting gear. No surprise there. But then he noticed some completely new gadgets from his dad. It didn't look like ghost stuff. Something was up.
"All right dad, I get the ghost hunting stuff, but the rest of it doesn't look like ghost equipment. What is it?" Danny asked.
"Glad you asked son." Jack said." Behold, the Fenton Magicnifier!" Jack said, holding up a magnifying glass sporting his face on the handle.
"This baby allows you to view all traces of magic!" Jack said.
"Dad, there's no magic around here. Or anywhere in the world for that matter." Jazz, Danny's sister said.
"That's what you think Jazz. You see, when magic is used, it leaves a trail. A residue. But guess what, it remains hidden because light reflects off it differently! Now, with this, we can look track magical residue wherever it is! Just like Herlock Sholmes!" Jack said.
"Dad, it's Sherlock Holmes." Jazz said.
"Right!" Jack said.
My dad actually using logic? Even if it doesn't exactly make sense you have to commend him for trying. Danny thought. "Okay, but why magic?" Danny asked.
"Well son, the place we're going is out of state, so we're going on a road trip! There were rumors on MooTube that those purple monsters that were on TV a few months ago were actually made of magic. The guy said that they weren't ghosts and they weren't a lab accident or prank either! ! Like these 'Secret Scientists' are claiming they are! And the facts are there in the video. That's what they want you to think because they're trying to hide it from the general public and use the magic for themselves! Not only do we get to spend some quality time as a family, but it'll be just like the witch hunts of my ancestor John Fentonightingale!" Jack said.
"Dad, it's YouTube. And there are tons of videos that make these conspiracies. It's all just a scam for views and money. Did you ever consider looking at the like to dislike ratio on those videos?" Danny said.
"Way ahead of you son. 415,429 views with 4.2K likes to 4.2K dislikes! If the likes even out or they're more, then what they're saying has to be true!" Jack said.
"An even number of likes and dislikes isn't exactly a good thing on YouTube dad." Danny said.
"We don't have time to talk right now, we're losing daylight! And the trail gets colder every second!" Jack said frantically.
"Dad can Sam and Tucker come too?" Danny asked.
"Sure son, the more hunters the merrier. We'll pick them up on the way let's go!" Jack said.
"It'll be fun kids, I promise!" Maddie said.
Danny gets in and texts Tucker and Sam: Going on a camping trip. Come with?
Both reply with thumbs up emojis.
Sam's parents were out and Tucker's parents were willing to let him go, as long as he completed all of his homework, which he didn't have any to complete.
They were both picked up at their respective homes with the GAV.
Maddie was driving while Jack was reading a paper map, giving her directions of the place they were headed.
2+ Hours later
"Dad, where exactly are we headed?" Danny asked.
"Somewhere east!" Jack said fiddling around with the map.
"'Somewhere east?' Sounds like another way to say 'we're lost.'" Danny said, a little annoyed that they pretty much have no idea where they're going.
"Ah cheer up son, we'll be there in no time!" Jack said.
3+ Hours later
"Isn't that our school?" Tucker asked, looking out the window and seeing the flag with the familiar building, and shape, even if the Casper High words weren't visible at night.
"Tucker's right honey. Are you sure we're going in the right direction Jack?" Maddie asked.
"Of course! It says here on the map we just need to take these next two turns and we'll have arrived!" Jack said confidently.
Maddie follows his directions and they park the van.
Right above them there's a big Fenton sign.
"We just went back home!" Jazz said.
"So the magic was right under our noses the entire time! Daniel, Jazz have you been practicing witchcraft!?" Jack asked them.
"No dad. Can I see the map real quick?" Danny asked.
"Sure, son." Jack said nicely, but then changes back to a stern demeanor. "But this interrogation's not over!"
Danny looks over the map and looks at all of the lines drawn all over it along with two circles, with one of them being Fenton Works and the other west of that. The map was an absolute mess. It was also upside down. He turned it over. The second circle was probably what they're looking for. Surprisingly enough, he actually couldn't tell where exactly where they were going was.
"Dad, you've been looking at the wrong lines on this map. And the wrong circle. And you were reading it upside down." Danny said, handing the map back to his father, showing him the right line and circle for the correct directions.
"Huh. I was wondering why where we lived there was some place called 'Karp Yitima.' I thought maybe I just grabbed the wrong map." Jack said.
"Dad. I'm hungry. You don't mind if we stop for something to eat while we're home do you?" Danny said.
"Sure son! A hunter needs to be at full strength whenever he can!" Jack said.
Maddie and Jack went in first.
"I'm pretty sure this would have been a lot easier if your dad just used a GPS." Sam said.
"You know how my dad is." Danny said.
They all walk inside and eat.
One meal later
The Fentons, Sam, and Tucker hit the road again.
After another three hours on the road, they finally reach their destination. There was nothing there except for an old abandoned wooden cabin.
"Well kids, unless anyone wants marshmallows, we'll be calling it a night." Maddie said.
Danny, Sam and Tucker all decide to make a fire and roast marshmallows. Jack, Maddie and Jazz all hit the sack for tomorrow.
"Anybody else a little creeped out by that cabin over there?" Sam said, getting goosebumps.
"Not really. It's old and abandoned. Nobody lives there anymore." Danny said.
"It's not really the fact that the cabin is there. I know people like to live in cabins outside of the city. I just have a weird feeling." Sam said.
"It's probably nothing Sam." Tucker said.
All of them hit the sack but Danny stays awake. He stares at the cabin, thinking about what Sam said. He also thinks about the fact that his dad brought magic tracking equipment with it. As naïve as his dad was and as much as he thought that Sam was a little too paranoid, he thought it couldn't hurt to check. Plus, there was this pestering thought in the back of his mind about why there were there.
Danny takes the Fenton Magicnifier and starts walking around with it. He discovers faint traces of magic. His expression changes to a curious and concerned one.
"Couldn't sleep either Danny?" Sam whispered.
"Yeah. Take a look. There's traces of magic here." Danny points while Sam looks.
"Mind if you look near the cabin?" Sam asked.
"Sure. Comin' with?" Danny asked. Sam was a little hesitant.
"You're not scared are you?" Danny asked, jokingly.
Sam punched Danny's arm playfully. "Of course not."
They walk toward the stairs of the cabin. The magic traces were actually stronger. Something was going on in the cabin. And more importantly, someone was here recently. Even if it wasn't the past few hours, Danny thought that it was at least the same day. Danny yawned. But it was best to deal with it tomorrow.
"Let's call it a night. We'll just wait until tomorrow. Goodnight Sam." Danny said.
"Goodnight Danny." Sam said.
Morning
It was morning time. Everyone had already stretched and said good morning to one another. It was time for breakfast.
"So Dad, what are we eating for breakfast?" Danny asked.
"Dung Beetle Stew!" Jack said, taking out the buckets.
"Dung, what now?" Jazz said, confused. When did their parents ever serve them something like this?
"Dung Beetle Stew! A recipe from my good old friend Max Tennyson! We met at a tech convention years ago. We've been keeping in touch recently and he decided to share some of his recipes with me. I've heard from him that his grandkids loved it!" Jack said.
Maddie and Jack started the fire to prepare the Dung Beetle Stew.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure his grandkids lied." Sam said.
"I'm sure my dad's going to get the real food that he packed." Danny said, trying to be positive.
A few minutes later, the food was prepared, and Jack and Maddie passed out the bowls to each of the teens.
"You were saying?" Tucker said to Danny in response to his previous response.
"Okay kids. Eat up! Gotta build up your strength!" Jack said before trying some himself. "Hey, it's not too bad! He devours the entire bowl."
Danny, Jazz, Tucker, and Sam all had disgusted looks on their faces seeing Jack eat and the Dung Beetles in front of him.
"While you guys chow down, how about I tell you guys some of Max's stories about his life as a Plumber?" Jack said.
"I can see why he would give his grandkids this. Maybe he's been smelling bathroom fumes too much." Danny said.
One of the Beetles in Sam's bowl looked like it moved a little as if it was still alive.
"I think mine just moved. Here you go Tucker." Sam said.
"No thanks." Tucker said, passing the bowl to Danny.
Suddenly, Danny's ghost senses went off.
Thank you ghost senses. For once in my life you came in at a great time. Danny thought.
"Dad, you can start the story without me I'll catch up. I've gotta use the bathroom!" Danny said.
After about a minute with Danny being gone, Jazz gets up.
"-on a rocket! Can you believe that he had to go up against a squid-faced guy that was after something named the Omnitrix to save the world?" Jack said.
"That's a great story dad. I've gotta check on Danny though." Jazz said.
Jazz goes to Danny, who has gone ghost, who has the Magicnifier.
"Danny, something must be up." Jazz guessed.
"Yeah. Sam and I discovered this yesterday. There's traces of magic here. It gets stronger as we inch closer to the house." Danny said.
"But why go ghost though?" Jazz asked.
"My ghost senses went off. That's why I initially left, I'm thinking the magic and the ghost sense can't be a coincidence." Danny said.
"So you think whatever ghost you sensed is using magic?" Jazz said.
"Maybe. Not sure yet though. None of the ghosts I've faced before outside of Desiree do anything that use magic. And unless someone made a wish here it can't be her. She'd be powerless without someone making a wish first." Danny said.
"All right guys, I think it's about time we get going! You can finish up your stew later." Both Danny and Jazz heard Jack say.
"Probably better to just let the ghost come to us. If your senses went off it's around here somewhere. Mom and Dad are going to start looking for us." Jazz said.
"Yeah. Or with my parents luck, they'll find trouble, and the ghost themselves." Danny said going back to his human half.
"Right after I tell one more story!" Jack said.
They both walk back.
Jack spots the Magicnifier in Danny's hand. "Danny! Perfect timing! Glad you found him Jazz! I see you've been investigating early. Well, we'll be joining you right after you hear the story of how Max was actually supposed to be the first guy to land on the moon for NASA!" Jack said.
Danny perked up. That actually sounded interesting. Maybe Max wasn't such a boring person after all.
But before he could start, the Magicnifier detects traces of magic that are stronger than they've ever been.
"Danny! You might have just found the source of the magic! And it's in that cabin!" Jack said.
"You've taken you're first steps into being a Fenton hunter! I'm proud of you son!" Jack said, wiping away a tear, proud of his son for 'continuing' the tradition of Fenton hunters.
As they were about to enter the cabin, a ghost appeared.
"You!" Danny said.
"Yes, me! I may not have enough misery to be my full, younger self, but I had enough of it from a few people near here to destroy you!" Penelope says, blasting Danny.
Knowing that he can't transform in front of his parents, he lets Penelope hit him, launching him into a bush while yelling from the pain it seems.
"Danny!" Maddie, Jack, and Jazz say together.
Sam and Tucker both know that this was intentional to give him a way to transform.
"You'll pay for that!" Jack said before pulling out the Fenton grappler to capture the ghost. He shoots it, but it misses, hitting a tree instead. Jack then throws his Ghastly Boo-merang. Flying to get away from it, she notices Danny coming at him and avoids him intentionally to allow the Boo-merang to lock on to him instead.
Realizing what's happening, Danny flies back around to tackle Penelope, and they go through the cabin doors. Blasts are heard inside the cabin.
"Come on!" Sam said.
They all run towards the cabin. Sam, Tucker and Jazz are the first ones to enter.
This distracts Danny for a second as he looks over.
"Guys, I-" Danny started. As he was distracted, this gave Penelope an opportunity to strike. Underpowered, she would gladly accept any advantage at this point. Danny yelled again from being knocked back into a wall on his back, this time from an actual attack that gave him genuine pain as his defenses were down.
"Danny!" Jack yelled. Both Jack and Maddie enter the cabin.
"Danny? Wherever you are we're coming!" Jack said. "You three, hold the line, and try to find Danny while we go get weapons!" Jack ordered. It was no longer about magic and the witch hunt anymore for him. It was about saving his son.
Danny recovers however and fights back. He flies, fists-first into her which sends them through the back of the cabin and into a secret entrance with a cracked owl eye on it. Except… ghosts, when they're intangible are supposed to phase through things, meaning that they should have phased through the back of the cabin and back outside. They didn't.
"Danny?" Jazz said.
Tucker points at an eye that is cracked. It isn't that visible, but the Magicnifier that Danny dropped before disappearing gave them the hint.
"Through there!" Tucker said.
It was crackling, possibly reacting to Danny and Penelope going through as they were ghosts. They wouldn't have but a short window to go through. So they took it. The worst that would happen was that they'd hit the wall.
They actually went through. That was the good news. The bad news was that they were unknowingly in the lair of an emperor that doesn't take too kindly to intruders. Danny and Penelope were still fighting. As they were fighting, Danny uses a blast that misses and destroys a piece of a portal that was being rebuilt. Their battle sends them through two pillars, angering the coven when he enters and hears what is going on. Kikimora, the emperor's personal assistant also enters the room and sees the fighting.
Danny, able to break away for a second has the feeling that a bad situation is about to arise with the two that just entered if they don't get out of there now.
"Come on guys!" Danny yelled to them.
Able to go intangible and escape the lair before anyone could realize what was going on, they were able to escape. But Penelope was right after them.
Back on earth
Jack and Maddie return with weapons, ready to battle and bust into the cabin. But it was empty.
"What in blazes? They're all gone!" Jack said.
Back to the Demon Realm
Before they could get a moment to breathe, Penelope attacks Danny with electrokinesis, shocking him. She tries lifting objects to throw at him with her telekinesis, but with it being slower, Danny dodges the objects with ease.
"Oh no." Penelope said, looking at her skin. Penelope was starting to show wrinkles again. She was getting old and weaker. So she left Danny with a final parting gift, hitting him in the back, throwing a ghost ray at Danny, knocking him in the back. While it didn't really hurt him, it did knock him back a good distance.
A woman with grey skin sees the white-haired teen about to fly past her.
"What in the-" Eda, the owl lady said before stopping herself. His trajectory would be heading towards Luz.
"Luz, look out!" Eda said. But she was a little late, Luz turned to face the danger Eda was talking about. But she was too slow enough to react, and the half-ghost hero flew smack dab into Luz, with the two's lips connecting with one another as they landed onto the ground.
A/N: And there's the first chapter! Hope you guys enjoyed it! Note that this is actually the Danny Phantom side of the intro chapter. The Owl House side of things is in the next you didn't catch it, the number of views for the YouTube video are actually the dates of my first fanfiction story from creation to completion! Also there's a reference to the Secret Scientists from the Secret Saturdays as well. I wanted Max and Jack to have connections in the past, since they both are in a field of work that involves the supernatural. Had the two actually met, I would imagine they would hit it off.
