Hi everyone! So excited to be back here with the newest story. I hope you all had a great Easter. Sorry for not updating lately. I've been busy working on new projects (POSSIBLE new fanfic?) and, of course, just relaxing in general. Enjoy this latest fanfic because this one is going to be possibly my craziest (and MAYBE most awesome) one yet.

PROLOGUE

Tsunami's scales pricked. She hated the feeling the tunnel gave her. She knew that something bad was coming out of it. The SeaWing was able to see in the dark just fine, yet the eeriness of the mysterious place sent a shiver up even her spine.

Glory pushed herself in front. The RainWing's colorful scales were now a bright shade of green, signaling fear. She refused to show it, though. As queen of the RainWings and the NightWings, she was determined to emit strength and lead her friends out of the danger.

"I have no idea why we came here in the first place," Sunny piped up. Her golden scales were dull in the fading light.

"Well," Clay suggested, "This tunnel just appeared out of nowhere. Who knows if it was made by an animus?"

Eventually, the tunnel gave way to a large, gaping maw in the floor of the tunnel.

"What is that doing there?" Starflight shrieked, his voice rising to the pitch of a scavenger. He pressed closer to Sunny, whimpering under his breath.

"Don't be a fraidy-dragon Starflight," Tsunami snorted. "I'm sure it's just a small crack in the…"

Sunny butted in. "Guys, that's not a small opening. It's really wide, and it looks like it doesn't end."

"Well, mystery solved; can we please go home now?" Starflight begged. The NightWing wasn't the bravest dragon in all of Pyrrhia.

Glory leaned down into the opening of the hole. She shoved a nearby stone into it, perking her ears to listen for the sound of it dropping.

The response never came.

Clay pushed his way up and let out a large bellow of fire, waiting for it to fall down. Again, no reply was ever found.

Sunny spoke up once more. "Maybe I should go down. I'm really small, so I can easily get out of danger if there's any down there."

"Oh no you don't!" Glory protested, grabbing the SandWing by her tail as she prepared to fly in. "We're not risking any dragon's life to see the bottom." Her grip wasn't as tight as it should have been, as, suddenly, Sunny let out a yell of fear as she plummeted in.

"NO!" Tsunami shouted in horror. Without thinking, she dove in after her friend.

Glory followed the pair, growling punishments and threats.

Starflight and Clay skidded to the edge of the open rock. "I-I-I'm sure they'll only be a few moments," Clay stammered.

The pair waited, and no dragonet flew up.

Starflight smashed his head into the wall of the tunnel. "Now we've lost our friends!"

"If it's an animus tunnel," Clay mused. "Perhaps they'll come back… If they find a way out." A crack in the roof of the cave allowed a small shaft of moonlight in. "If we wait, someday, we may see our friends again. And I hope that day is very soon."

Somewhere many, many worlds away…

Papers flew everywhere, some half-torn, others nothing but shreds. The click of a pen echoed in the small room. Furious writing was all that sounded for a few moments.

"I need an idea," a voice muttered. Insults rung in his head. Traitors. Cowards. Utter disappointments.

"I thought I had my sights set on those who would be loyal to us." He spoke as if he were addressing an entire audience, and not an empty expanse. "We'll see how long they last. The Gym will surely crumble."

His hand let go of the pen, and it dropped to the floor. As soon as he could get grunts in, he would. These so-called "Gym Leaders" would only last a few days; maximum a month. They were too soft, too prone to make alliances, too kind to others.

"After all," the man continued. A sly grin lit his face. "No one messes with the Leader of the Viridian City Gym. Let alone, Giovanni."
