Chapter 3 for "Re Zero Cast Reacts to Stuff about Subaru's World" is almost done, as I have said in Reactionist's discord server (the guy who made Watching Him Die Again and Again). But I just couldn't fucking wait anymore, I need to see the cast react to Subaru's death to the rabbits. It's gonna be despair and suffering at watching their beloved friend/comrade/lover/whatever suffer one of the worst death imaginable. I feel like Thanos saying "fine, i'll do it myself" when no reaction fic made it to this scene, so, here you go, the cast reacts to subaru getting eaten alive by the bunnies
This starts when Subaru wakes after Garfiel massacres everyone in season 2 episode 8. Hope my writing abilities can deliver the best kind of despair imaginable heheheh. Let's begin!
As always, please review and tell me what I could do better. Though I followed the advice from the dudes at the discord server, and wrote this chapter to the best of my abilities.
"Ah, AHHHH! IT'S NOT MY FAULT! PLEASE!" Garfiel shook as he cowered down and put his hands on top of his head, trying to calm down from seeing himself kill almost everyone in the Sanctuary.
"Subaru was prepared to die.. but I just pushed him away from death!" Otto lamented as he thought about how Subaru didn't value his life anymore and thought dying would be the way to fix things. He didn't like that mindset, not one bit, so he gave Subaru a good smack on the head, for being a dumb idiot who thought suicide is the answer to his problems.
Garfiel was being comforted by Frederica, who was rubbing the top of her little brother's head, assuring him that the actions of that Garfiel aren't his fault. Meanwhile the rest were already shaken from the events that just occurred, they understood one thing: Subaru would need to fix this future if he wishes to bring everyone back. The question is, how is he gonna die?
"No... Subaru-kun will die again... why did you have to go through so much, my love?!" Rem cried as she held on to Subaru
"Patrasche sacrificed herself for Subaru... she really is one of the best ground dragons, if not the best." Otto mourned Patrasche's sacrifice.
Crusch understood now that Subaru went through so much pain to make sure everyone in the theater is alive and well, so she'd hold his hand, and see what pains and horrors he went through. With almost everyone dead to Garfiel, Subaru would need to find a way to die, so Crusch would hold his hand, not letting him be alone, much to the annoyance of the other royal candidates, who didn't like the way Crusch was hogging Subaru to herself.
Subaru wakes up with a startle on the ground in the cold prison.
"Why... am I here?"
Subaru looks down at his dirtied palm with a disturbed look on his face.
"It's morning? Damn it.. how long have I been asleep?" Subaru asked as he was worried about the save point updating.
"Oh my god! If the save point updates... then Subaru won't be able to bring everyone back!" Emilia cried as she didn't want everyone to remain dead.
"Think hard, Emilia-sama, everyone is still here, so Barusu did bring everyone back." Ram said as she understood that if everyone here is alive and well, then Barusu died somehow. She hoped it was a quick, painless death, so Barusu wouldn't have to suffer too much.
"This burden... he carries this by himself..." Felt uttered as she looked at the sleeping Subaru with admiration and horror in her eyes.
"How could cap'n still treat me like his brother after what I did to him?" Garfiel lamented.
Rem felt useless, she hated that she was put into a coma against her will, leaving her hero to deal with so much all by himself. She held Subaru's hand, gazing at him with eyes full of love and admiration.
Subaru walked outside of the cave, trying to get used to the blinding sunlight... only to reveal a snowy field outside.
"Huh?"
He took a step outside of the cave, shivering at the cold, his breath being seen.
"What's going on?"
Subaru kept walking, only to trip on something and falling face first on the snow.
"It's snowing? How could that be?" Petra asked, not liking where this is going.
"If I remember correctly... wasn't it part of Roswaal's plan to make it snow in the sanctuary?" Reinhard asked.
Now that Emilia remembered, if it snowed in the Sanctuary... that meant the bunnies would be attracted to the snow due to its mana abundancy... Oh gods, she refused to believe that Subaru would encounter the sizeable hare. How could he stay the cheerful dunderhead she knows if he died to the bunnies? She already knew Subaru was gonna die, she just hoped that Subaru didn't die to the rabbits.
Everyone watched with baited breaths, trying not to overthink about how Subaru is gonna die. Subaru got a few glances of respect and admiration, who would have thought this shut-in high schooler would go through so much in another world.
Subaru takes a moment to catch his breath.. flashbacks of Petra, Frederica, and Beatrice happen before his eyes.
"I can't! I can't! I can't!" Subaru yelled out as he shook those flashbacks off.
"I have to get them back... whatever it takes..." Subaru decided that he would kill himself somehow... but how?
"Barusu..." Ram softly muttered as she didn't like his mindset of committing suicide to solve problems. They already saw him throw his life away to bring Rem back from her coma, but it failed, leaving Subaru devastated that he lost Rem and no one else remembered her. It broke Rem's heart after she found out her hero killed himself to try and save her, how could Subaru throw his life away for someone like her?
Emilia made her mind up to watch Subaru's burdens. If he lived through them, then so can she, Subaru wouldn't be alone again. Not on her watch. She'll also make sure to not leave Subaru unsupervised when he's experiencing tremendous loss, she doesn't want him to leave everyone behind. Though you can't stop a man who's determined to die no matter what. The half-elf would make sure her Subaru wouldn't leave her behind, she won't let him.
Reinhard and Julius were biting their lips, anxious on how their friend is gonna die, they hoped he'd die a quick death. Priscilla just kept fanning herself, watching the screen with critical eyes. Crusch meanwhile felt anxious and afraid for what's to come soon, how could the sleeping knight still look them in the eye, and act like he was okay?
Even Wilhelm knew that while Subaru acted the cheerful fool he tried to be for others, the elder knight read his eyes and saw the expression of a battle-hardened knight. At first, Wilhelm didn't understand why someone at such a young age looked like they experienced hours of combat non-stop?. Though Wilhelm got his answer as he got to know why Subaru always looked like he experienced death many times: Because he did, he died numerous deaths to make sure everyone in the theater could breathe their next breath of air, all because Subaru loves everyone... but he didn't love himself.
Subaru kept on walking, and walking, until he came to a room where clothes were strewn all over the floor.
"There's... no one here?"
He wondered where did everyone go?
"That's a good question... where is everyone?" Otto asked.
"Maybe they fled the Sanctuary, yes that's gotta be it!" Felt declared, trying to assure herself and others that's what happened.
"But without their clothes? What are their clothes doing on the floor anyway?" Rem asked, already feeling shaken from the thought of her hero dying again.
None of them could form a rational answer to that question. Though they found it eerie that the Sanctuary didn't have a single person anywhere. It's almost as if Thanos snapped his fingers and everyone got sent to Brazil.
Subaru went to Roswaal's room, thinking hard about why he couldn't find anyone in the sanctuary, then it's revealed that it's snowing for miles and miles. He's then seen walking aimlessly, still not coming to terms on the situation... until Subaru came across a cute, fluffy rabbit.
At first it acted like a normal bunny, squeaking adorably and shaking the snow off its ears.
"Oh look! It's a bunny!" Petra pointed at the snow white rabbit.
"It's got a horn on its head though?" Frederica commented.
"Is it a mabeast?" Rem asked, not liking how this bunny is a demon beast, it doesn't look too ferocious though...
Crusch felt a pain stab through her heart, she remembered that cursed rabbit... 3 years ago... she grabbed Subaru... and hugged him, trying to assure herself that he's alive and well in her arms. She couldn't help but cry on Subaru's hair. She understood how he was gonna die... the thought made her heart hurt worse than before. Trying not to cry out from the emotional pain, she bit her lips, trying to not alert the rest on how Subaru will die.
"Crusch-san? What's wrong?" Felix asked, concerned about his lady's actions.
"He's gonna... ghk! He's gonna-" Crusch barely choked out as she held on to Subaru tighter. The rest using Subaru as a body pillow were at first going to protest, but once they got a look at her face, they found it concerning that she'd be acting this way. So they let Crusch have Subaru, for now.
"Crusch-san... what's gonna happen to Natsuki-san?" Otto dreadfully asked.
"Subaru.. is about to start over soon, AHHH!" Crusch tried to softly drop the news that Subaru is gonna die soon, but couldn't keep her emotions in check and cried out in agony for Subaru's death that will happen in a few minutes.
Why did Emilia feel like something traumatizing was about to happen soon? Then she remembered what the sizeable hare is capable of, Subaru alone out here with them. Emilia went catatonic for some time, not believing that this is how Subaru will die.
Petra, being the young, innocent girl she is, thought that this bunny didn't look too bad, until she looked at her fellow viewers, mostly the Emilia camp, who had despaired, horrified expressions. Now Petra felt cold and afraid, just what is gonna happen to Subaru?
"Betty's Subaru... I couldn't protect you, couldn't couldn't couldn't couldn't protect you! uwaaaaaaaah! WHERE WAS I AT THAT TIME, I SUPPOSE!?" Beatrice pulled on her drills as hard as she could for being a useless spirit for staying shut inside the mansion while Subaru is out here in the snowy field with big chungus and his homies. Now she and her fellow viewers will live through Subaru's most painful, hellish experience.
Roswaal meanwhile was NOT expecting Subaru to actually encounter the sizeable hare, though he would like to see what dying to the sizeable hare is like.. of course he would, the clown that simped for a witch for 400 years just because she french kissed him.
"Big bro?..." Felt looked at Subaru, shaking in fear as she didn't like where this was going, Subaru alone out here with the sizeable hare? She read about the 3 great mabeasts, and learned that one of them is a cute, fist-sized rabbit that numbers by the hundreds, devouring everything in their path-
Now, that's the answer she didn't, refused to accept. Felt now understood, her big bro would suffer out here, all by himself with no one to help.. what the hell was she doing?! Where was Reinhard at that time!?
Ram.. she knew she didn't treat Barusu with affection.. but to think that he encountered the rabbits.. she needs to treat Barusu with a little more care from now on. Rem, reading the expressions and actions of her fellow viewers, understood that her hero's death would be coming very soon.. and it's gonna be traumatizing. She went for Ram, and gave her a tight hug, which Ram returned, both of them trying to comfort each other through their friend's death.
"Subaru-kun?..." Rem whispered as the pain her heart grew by the second.
Even the Sword Demon thought encountering the sizeable hare and living to tell the tale was next to impossible, Wilhelm shed another tear for what Subaru is gonna go through very soon. Now, with Beatrice facing Subaru's chest and sobbing in agony for her contractor, while Crusch his crying on his hair, Emilia slowly snapping out of her trance, just in time for the main feast.
Emilia looked at Subaru being cried on, and looked back at the screen. She refused to believe that her first friend who ever treated her like a girl would have died a horrifying death. If he did, how could he still act all happy and joyful when she was around?
Then Emilia looked down at his scarred arms, feeling her heart break again at Subaru choosing to hurt himself like this when no one was watching him. Even Beatrice should have been more persistent when Subaru asked her, no, begged her to let him do this to himself. It was his way of masking all the pain and trauma that he was forbidden from speaking.
"A rabbit... why is there a rabbit here?" Subaru asked as he knelt down, the rabbit hopping to him, then looking into his eyes... then Subaru does the unthinkable... he reaches down to pick it up.
"NO! DON'T PICK IT UP, I SUPPOSE!" Beatrice tried to warn that Subaru to get the hell away from that rabbit, but it's too late.
"Barusu, you dumbass!" Ram yelled at Subaru's stupidity, never pick up a wild animal, no matter how cute it looks!
"Subaru! You complete dunderhead!" Emilia yelled at the screen, scared out of her mind for what's gonna happen to her darling knight, who didn't know about the sizeable hare in that moment.
They should have let Subaru know about the other great demon beasts, they braced themselves for the impact. They couldn't believe that he died like this, they hoped that he wouldn't suffer for too long.
His entire hand is bit off... Subaru at first didn't process the pain, his hand flying off, Subaru groaned as he didn't process the pain for a few seconds.. his hand landing a couple feet away.
"Eh?" Felt asked, still not processing what just happened.
The tension in the room was thick, it was confirmed, Subaru would die in the most agonizing way ever. The thought of that made some of the cast look at Subaru like he was a fragile doll. Sure, they've already seen him die many times, but to think one of those deaths was being eaten alive..
Crusch began shaking uncontrollably, almost crushing Subaru in her arms. Trying to get Subaru out of her grip would be like trying to pry apart steel beams... the cast hoped Subaru wouldn't be too crushed in her arms.
"His entire hand came off!" Mimi cried out.
"Sissy! I don't want Subaru-kun to die like this! Please! Help him! LET ME HELP HIM!" Rem couldn't form coherent thoughts as she began panicking, hugging her sister to try and comfort each other.
Emilia tried to deny reality, but reality bitch slaps her and forced her to take in what just occurred. Just the thought of encountering the sizeable hare brought shivers down her spine, but to think her knight stumbled across it... she ran to Subaru, with the desire to be by his side, to keep reminding herself that her dunderhead of a knight is warm and living.
"Big bro...!" Felt couldn't take it anymore, and ran over to Reinhard, who tried calming her with affectionate headpats and comforting words, though who was he kidding, even he felt terrified. Sure, he could kill the sizeable hare in one shot, but this is Subaru of all people who encountered the rabbits.
"Why did you try to pick it up, you idiot!" Otto scolded Subaru for trying to pick up the cute bunny, but he couldn't look away from the screen, it would be a disrespect for what Subaru went through.
"Ghk- khaaaaaaaahh!" Subaru cried out as the pain set in, it was excruciating, his entire hand bitten off in an instant, the bones, nerves, and blood vessels in his wrist exposed, blood squirting everywhere. He looked down at the culprit, and saw it chewing on his severed finger like some sort of carrot.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" Petra cried out in shock and horror as she saw the rabbit chew on Subaru's finger, she couldn't imagine being in Subaru's place, the mere thought of it terrified her. She froze in place, not being able to look away from the screen.
Felix was also processing the fact Subaru's hand was just bitten off, he thought on how he could still fix that injury, but he couldn't fix it, because he's stuck here in this room, while that Subaru is behind the screen, crying out in pain.
Felt, hearing Petra's terrified screams, just hugged Reinhard tighter, wailing in his chest, though it was slightly muffled due to how hard she was pressing her face against his chest. Reinhard however, was trying to look calm and collected for his royal princess, a task that was difficult, when his friend is out here alone with no one to help him out.
"Subaru-kun! RUN AWAY FROM IT! PLEASE! UWAAAAAHH!" Rem cried out as she began shaking in terror, she thought that seeing herself kill Subaru was the worst thing she saw? If she absolutely had to choose... If she had to choose between letting Subaru die to the great rabbit, or killing Subaru herself... she'd kill Subaru, because she'd swing her morning star at his head, ensuring a quick, painless death. But even then, she absolutely didn't want to kill Subaru, it hurt her heart too much to even think about it.
Emilia tried to deny reality, but she couldn't escape from it. She remembered to that time Subaru went and risked himself to corner every single one of those bunnies, how he looked so cheerful and foolish, despite literal demons from hell chasing after his flesh. Emilia put a hand on her mouth, she felt dizzy, she couldn't take this anymore, it was too much for her poor mind to handle, but she refused to faint, she couldn't stop watching, or else it'd feel like an insult to what Subaru went through.
"DON'T GET ANY CLOSER TO HIM, I SUPPOSE!, AAHHH!" Beatrice cried in painful despair for her contractor, she cursed those rabbits, she hoped those rabbits wouldn't ever come back from wherever Al Shamak sent them. She hoped they'd burn for eternity, never satisfying their hunger until the end of time.
"Barusu... I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" Ram never thought she'd be emotional for Barusu of all people, but she promised herself that she would treat Barusu with more respect. Dying to the sizeable hare has got to be the worst death imaginable, and Barusu experienced that very death... Ram made her mind up that once Subaru woke up, she'd give him the tightest hug, because he clearly needs it, and she needs it as well. Ram needed Barusu to know that he's cared for, that he wasn't alone. Only Ram could get the privilege to belittle Barusu whenever she felt he deserves it, she didn't want Barusu to willingly hurt himself.
"Grhhhah! hykh!" Subaru lost his balance and fell on the snow, he couldn't feel his left leg... because it had been chewed off by two more bunnies.
"Gyaahahhahh!" Subaru cried in pain as even more excruciating pain attacked his very being.
"No... no... NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOO! SUBARU-KUUUUUUUN!" Rem cried as the reality of the situation has set upon them. It hurt Ram hearing her sister cry out for a man Ram thought was useless. It even hurt Ram, of course Subaru just shrugged off all the insults she threw towards him, what were mere words to him when he got his ass eaten by big chungus and his homies?
Crusch couldn't hold it in anymore, and began sobbing and shaking uncontrollably, she hugged Subaru tighter, she needed to know that Subaru was warm and soft in her arms. She looked down at the boy sleeping in her arms, and kissed his forehead, in an attempt to tell him that she's here for him, and that nothing will hurt him. She checked his hand, relieved that it was in place, that it hasn't been bitten off. Of course, she blushed after she realized she kissed Subaru's forehead in her despair, but luckily, no one cared at the moment.
Julius put two and two together, and if more bunnies popped up... he crushed the handle of his chair in despair for what Subaru is about to go through. He'd rather beat up Subaru again than let him die to the great rabbit, if he had to choose.
Felt got a little curious, hearing Subaru's painful screams. Despite logic telling her to keep her face on Reinhard's chest, she snuck a peek to the screen, only to see her big brother with his leg chewed off. She shrieked, and went back to crying her heart out on Reinhard's chest, the knight holding her close to him.
"Come here Garfiel!" Frederica demanded.
"What's gonna happen-" Garfiel was about to ask.
"JUST COME HERE THIS INSTANT!" Frederica yelled, trying to spare her little brother the sight of what's about to happen. Now with Garfiel in her arms, she used her beastly strength to make Garfiel face her chest, not letting him see the screen. Though she was scared herself, and held her little brother to try and comfort each other, despite what everyone will see soon.
Hands covering their mouths, their chests, everyone couldn't look away from the screen. They couldn't imagine being in Subaru's place, out in the freezing cold, with the sizeable hare about to shred you to bits.
Subaru began hyperventilating, looking around and revealing dozens... hundreds of hungry rabbits... hissing ferociously at their soon to be feast. He had a horrified expression, now fully panicking and breathing rapidly while holding his bloody wrist.
They never saw Subaru ever have such a despaired expression, not when Rem was beating him to a pulp, not when Julius was showing him who's boss, not even when Elsa disemboweled him, or being frozen alive by Puck.
Subaru's expression burned itself into Rem's soul, the expression of someone who knew that he was about to die a long, painful death. Not even when she was beating him up due to her suspicions of him, he never looked so terrified, other than screaming from how his leg was torn off by her morning star. But even then, his screams back then were quiet compared to what she was about to hear soon.
"So this is why you're always hurting yourself?! Because of how much you have bled and suffered in silence, I suppose?!. HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO BLIND!, WHY DID I NOT THINK OF LOOKING INTO YOUR MEMORIES, IN FACT!?, AAAAAAAAAAHH!" Beatrice pulled on her drills, berating herself for not being a useful spirit and persisting even when Subaru looked her in the eye and said he was okay, even putting a smile on his face.
Anastasia's heart was beating so fast, she thought it would possibly burst due to how stressed she was feeling. She couldn't imagine actually encountering the sizeable hare, she didn't even think on how Subaru would have encountered the bunnies. Anastasia hoped Subaru didn't become insane after this, and if he didn't lose his mind, she'll respect him even more. She covered her ears, not wishing to hear the bunnies' ferocious hissing.
Crusch couldn't hold her emotions anymore, and began bawling her heart out on Subaru's back. She swore to herself that once Subaru woke up, she'd give him a lap pillow for however long he wanted, she didn't care. As long as Crusch got to see Subaru look at peace on her lap, she could being healing her trauma from what she just saw a few seconds ago on the screen.
Felix thought Subaru was weak and disgusting? He had no right to think about Subaru like that, not when he's out here facing the sizeable hare by himself. He couldn't imagine being in his place, but here Subaru is, facing what would be his most painful death ever.
No one noticed Emilia's amethyst eyes become empty voids as she looked at her Subaru, she never thought that Subaru would have gone through something so painful, so horrible. Emilia never thought Subaru would have felt so lonely, without her. She held on to him, refusing to let him go, refusing to let him hurt, she'll make him feel better. Emilia won't let Subaru feel so horrible anymore. She giggled as she felt her knight's warmth, at least she knew she was alive and not freezing cold.
Julius felt Subaru was more than worthy of becoming Emilia's knight. He never thought Subaru would have gone through something like this, how could he force all that pain and suffering and bottle it up? How could Subaru still smile at everyone after what suffering he underwent?. He balled his fists, ignoring how his fingers were digging into his palms, this pain was nothing compared to dying to the great rabbit.
The elderly Sword Demon felt lucky he never encountered the sizeable hare. He felt Subaru-dono was a strong young man for putting up with so much by himself, with no one to help. Wilhelm thought he should treat Subaru like his own grandson, just to make him feel that he's cared for.
Overall, sure, they knew Subaru died many times, but to think he also died to the bunnies... No one should have to go through something like that. They hoped this would be the only time he died to the sizeable hare. Oh, but if they knew that he faced them twice!
"Big bro... UWAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Felt looked away from the screen and faced her knight's chest, seeking protection from what she was seeing on the screen. No kid should have to watch their big bro/hero go through something so agonizing.
Then the bunnies hurried to satisfy their neverending hunger.
Everyone braced themselves, hoping that Subaru won't suffer for too long. Petra shrieked and hurried to hide behind Frederica, the beast maid holding both her little brother and little maid close to her.
"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM NATSUKI-SAN YOU FOUL RATS!" Otto yelled at the bunnies, trying to vent some of his emotions out.
The women who fell in love with Subaru held him tightly, as if protecting him from the bunnies on meth. They tried looking away from the screen, but as soon as they looked away, Subaru began crying out in painful agony.
"Betty's Subaru, I'm so sorry!" Poor Beako cried as she held on to her contractor, no wonder she always walked in on him hurting himself. He was traumatized. She made it a priority to not let Subaru push her away when she tried to help him sleep better. Beatrice would make sure that her Subaru felt loved and cared for.
"Ah.. ahhh!" Subaru tried scooting away from the bunnies, only for them to dive onto his abdomen, and begin chewing their way through his abdomen.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO, SUBARUUUUUUUUUUUU!"
"BARUSU!"
"BIG BRO!"
The entire theater was hit with the beginning of Subaru's worst death ever. The little ones (Felt, Petra, the neko trio, Garfiel) hiding with their older siblings/caretakers. Even Priscilla thought this was too much, no one should have to go through this. The knights couldn't believe that this was happening to Subaru, where the hell were they at that time!?
"PLEASE, MAKE IT STOP! NOOOOOOOOOO!" Poor Petra cried out as she snuck a peek at the screen, an action that cost her dearly.
"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH UAH! AHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARH!"
He tried reaching out, for anyone to save him, only for another rabbit who leaped and tore his other hand off.
Rem held his hand, repeatedly reminding him that she was here, that he was all right, despite him being asleep. It made her feel better telling him that. She got a look at his eyes on the screen, how they were begging to make the pain stop. She screamed his name, her heart hurting too much from watching his expression as he got eaten alive. She shrieked as the bunnies forced themselves up inside Subaru. Rem could SEE the bunnies under his skin, in a race to chew him up from the inside out. She couldn't imagine the pain, the agony from that.
Crusch took a look at the screen, and was met with Subaru reaching out. It felt as if he was reaching out towards her, begging her to save him from this agony. She held his hand, tightly. The pain in her chest was overwhelming, agonizing, how could this wonderful fool of a young man say he was okay after being an all you can eat buffet for the rabbits?. While she was safe and cozy in her domain, Subaru was going through literal hell on Earth, just him and the bunnies, no one else to intervene.
Emilia, still not processing reality properly, hugged Subaru's waist, tightly. She couldn't believe that her first friend died this way, not like this. The half-elf looked up at Subaru, and thought how he looked so handsome. She giggled as she reached up and touched his face, feeling its warmth, reminding herself that Subaru was alive, not being torn apart like he was on the screen.
At first Felix thought Subaru was a disgusting human being for throwing his life away, but did Felix have the balls to give up his life if it meant going back in time to save Crusch? He didn't want to die, but here is Subaru, dying over and over, sometimes outright killing himself, to save the ones he loves. But, as Felix stares at the screen, where Subaru is being shredded up by hundreds of razor sharp teeth, he didn't want to believe that the person he insulted in the beginning would have died like this, even he would find it difficult to fix up Subaru!
Poor Beatrice couldn't stop her tears from falling, she screamed Subaru's name, refusing to let go of him for even one second as if he'd be taken away from her by the rabbits. She cursed those gluttonous rodents, for putting her beloved Subaru through such painful agony. No wonder he always hurt himself, he needed a way to vent out his pain and trauma. Damn that witch for not letting Subaru speak to Betty about what he went through, she would have believed him! Oh gods, what would his parents think that their beloved son died like this? Did he think of his parents in his final moments?. Beatrice couldn't block Subaru's agonized screams, and began screaming herself, to try to drown them out, but they were so loud, so deafening. She buried her face in Subaru's side, while repeating his name over and over, berating herself for letting him die like this.
"Natsuki-san... I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!" Otto held a shaky hand to his mouth as he repeated apologies like a broken record. He realized something painful. Subaru wouldn't have faced the sizeable hare if Otto just let him die to Garfiel, it would have been a quick death. But no, he had to push Subaru out of the way, thinking that idiot was stupid for just standing there. Now he let Subaru die an otherwise long, painful death that could have been prevented. He felt sick, guilty, for putting one of his best friends through such a hellish experience.
"Subaru-dono, I'm sorry." Wilhelm thought as he winced seeing the bunnies begin to tear Subaru's arm off. The Sword Demon slammed a fist down on the handle of his chair, the wood cracking under the pressure. The old man saw many things in his prime, but seeing someone being eaten by the sizeable hare was new to him, and to think Subaru was a victim to the rabbits. No one should go through this, absolutely no one.
He didn't understand why he was still alive, despite knowing his insides have been chewed up by the rabbits going up his ass and chewing everything they could get their mouths on. His screaming is muffled by rabbits diving into his mouth, and tearing his tongue to shreds, then forcing themselves down his throat, now in a race to chew up Subaru from inside and outside. Subaru was hastily digging into his throat, trying to get those bunnies out.
"GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! MAKE IT STOP, MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE HELP HIM, REINHARD!" Felt wailed as she was severely stressed and shaken from what she was seeing, she could see the bulges moving under Subaru's flesh, his screams cut off as the bunnies tore his vocal cords and consumed them.
"Why didn't you look for me, Subaru? I would have helped you get rid of those damn rabbits!" Reinhard muttered as he wondered why Subaru didn't take the time to go find the Sword Saint. Why did Subaru think no one would help him out?
"SUBARU-KUUUUUUN!" Rem dug her fingers in her head, why did she have to be put in a coma by Lye? How could she easily lose to a goddamn kid?. She couldn't watch Subaru-kun like this, but she couldn't tear herself away from the screen, though the longer she stared, the more despaired she was feeling from watching her hero like this. Once he wakes up, she'll shower him with hugs and kisses, he deserves it. She wanted him to feel special, he was special to her at least. But other women have taken a liking to him as well. She just hoped Subaru would still come visit her.. unless she made it so she was always with him wherever he went? But that will be a plan later for the future, things can always change. But right now, Rem is bawling as she was watching the bunnies take their time tearing her hero to bits.
"Fucking hell, JESUS FUCK!" Al yelled as a bunny chewed off Subaru's nuts, being kicked in the nuts was bad enough, but having them chewed off by a rabbit on meth? That's got to be the most painful thing you could go through.
"Mmmm How veeeeeery interesting!" Roswaal mused, at least he now knew what it looked like for someone to die to the sizeable hare, despite others staring at him in disgust.
"KYAAAAAAAAAAAAA! SUBARU!" Petra bawled as she snuck a peek at the screen, and was met with Subaru being torn apart at the joints like ants tearing up a grasshopper. How could he pat her head, and say he was okay?
"Natsuki Subaru... you shouldn't have gone through this, I'm sorry." Julius whispered as he remembered Subaru's angered expression as he was beating him to a pulp for declaring he was a knight. He feared for how Subaru would be after he returned by death.
Beatrice, tired from screaming, could only sob in heartbreak as her chest felt like it would break in two. Her contractor going through something like this by himself? How could he smile at her, and say he was all right as he patted her head? She knew there was something plaguing him, but he just pushed her away whenever she tried to talk to him about it. But no more, she won't let Subaru push her away, she'll be with him whether he likes it or not, I suppose!
Subaru couldn't scream, for his lungs have been shredded and consumed, why was he still conscious? The rabbits tore off his limbs and left him a just a torso with a head, his insides replaced with the bunnies squirming under his flesh. The bunnies began peeling his face off, revealing the raw muscle underneath, if Subaru had to choose, he'd rather get beaten to death by Rem again, that was nothing compared to this.
"OH MY FUCKING GOD!"
"JESUS!"
"SUBARU-DONO!"
The sight of Subaru's skinned face, the eyes darting back and forth as unimaginable agony coursed through them, burned itself into everyone's minds. They'll never be able to forget this, seeing a young teen have his limbs torn off, his face ripped away from his skull. Those damn rabbits had a way to keep their victims alive until every last cell was consumed.
Everyone couldn't contain their emotions, most of them looking away from the screen, but they couldn't block out the hideous chewing and crunching noises as the bunnies shredded Subaru to bits.
"Raw muscle, I can see it, and he's still alive..." A stressed out Felix pointed at the screen.
Though, sweet relief came to Subaru once a bunny bit into his skull, and began slurping up the brain matter with a hideous slurping noise. Now with Subaru's brains eaten, his life finally ceased.
A last shot of what remained of Subaru, just a pile of bones, shredded flesh and muscle, and his head being cracked open by rabbits, his expression frozen in pure, painful despair. It didn't even last for 4 seconds before the bunnies consumed it all.
Terrified screams, horrified shrieks, despaired wailing, mournful sobbing, the entire theater was an emotional wreck. Emilia's mind retreating from reality as she heard her knight's pain-filled screams. The oni twins sobbing as they couldn't get the images of Subaru's skinned face out of their minds. Despite Reinhard doing his best to protect Felt's innocence, she still heard her big brother beg for anyone to save him, until his voice got cut off by the bunnies tearing his vocal cords to shreds.
"SUBARU-KUN! SUBARU-KUN! SUBARU-KUN! YOUR REM IS HERE FOR YOU! I'M SO SORRY!" Rem bawled out as she kept repeating the sight of Subaru reaching out through the pile of bunnies tearing him to bloody chunks. She couldn't get it out of her head, she couldn't couldn't couldn't get it out.
Emilia regained herself, and grabbed ahold of Subaru, despite other women stressed out of their minds, screaming his name over and over as she couldn't stop hearing Subaru screaming out as the rabbits took their sweet time eating him from the inside and outside. She made it a priority to never let Subaru out of her sight, she must always be with him to ensure he wouldn't have to go through something like that again. But it still hurt watching her knight be eaten alive, and so now here she is, bawling as her ice magic was barely contained.
Poor Subaru's shirt was soaked in gorgeous women's tears, that lucky bastard, making women cry for him like this.
"Jesus Fuck, kid... how did you not go insane after that?" Al glanced at Subaru, wondering how he kept his sanity after dying in one of the most painful ways.
If Subaru woke up now, he'd be met with the sight of every single one of his allies in emotional distress after seeing him die to big chungus and his homies. His spirit Beatrice holding on to him with all her strength, fearing he'd be taken away from her by those bunnies if she let go for one second. Emilia bawling her eyes out as she couldn't get Subaru's skinned face out of her mind. The Royal Knights and the Sword Demon, all battle-hardened knights, never saw something so brutal and bloody in their lives.
Even Priscilla was left speechless, she thought this was too much for even a goddess like her.
They looked at Subaru, and Emilia hopped up and gently lift his eyelid, just to make sure that he was whole and not torn to bits. Beatrice then put her pride aside, and opened Subaru's mouth. She had to make sure his tongue was in place. Sure, they were not thinking right after what they just witnessed Subaru go through.
Rem refused to be away from Subaru, she needed him by her side, she needed to know that he was whole and not minced meat. Even Ram thought that Barusu shouldn't have gone through this... she made it a priority to be nicer to Subaru from now on, though she'll scold him whenever he actually deserves it. Tough love as they say.
It would take a lot of counseling and therapy to heal everyone from what they just saw.. but Subaru didn't have a therapist. Currently, all everyone could do, is cry out in pain for the knight that went through one of the most agonizing deaths he ever went through...
Subaru awakens once more with a startled gasp next to Emilia. He shudders and crosses his arms, still feeling the bunnies eating him alive. He begins scratching at himself, still not fully aware that he just returned by death. Subaru still feels like he's being eaten alive. He begins convulsing while white froth bubbles at his mouth.
"No... stop this... please! SUBARU-KUN!" Rem cries out as her hero has a seizure from what he just went through.
"Subaru..." Crusch stares at the convulsing boy on the screen with heartbreak in her eyes. Of all the things he went through, being eaten alive is what finally broke Subaru. She couldn't believe that he actually died that way, the duchess lovingly caressed Subaru's cheek, as if comforting from what he just went through.
"Subaru-dono... you truly are one of a kind.." Wilhelm spoke as he realized that even after being broken temporarily, Subaru still came back and made sure everyone would live to see the next day, at the cost of his sanity.
None of them even knew that a person would be capable of having such a response to a traumatic event. The poor kid literally just came back from being eaten alive, and is now having a seizure.
"Subaru-kun! Subaru-kuuuuuuun!" Rem bawled as Subaru begins scratching at his throat, still thinking that the bunnies were inside his throat.
"Why?"
His soul begins screaming even if it's not in control of his body.
"
Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! Why! WHY!"
A last shot of Subaru having a seizure as he bangs his head on the concrete over and over is seen on the screen, before it fades to black.
Everyone stared at the black screen, still processing what they just saw. This was too much for the poor nasty-eyed kid, and Emilia saw herself next to Subaru. She hated herself for being asleep while Subaru just came back from the most traumatic moment in his life.
"Subaruuuuuu!" Emilia bawled out as she regained her senses, just in time to have seen her knight have a seizure on the screen.
"You're alive... you're with us... my love.." Rem nuzzled her face against Subaru's neck, relieved that he was warm and alive in her arms, sure, there were other women sharing Subaru, but they found a way to share him, for now.
It was official, all the women who fell for Subaru are gonna shower him with love and care, he deserves it. They should also talk to him about his suicidal tendencies and that they were not the answer to his problems. Even the witches thought his mindset was vile.
Overall, everyone reminded themselves that Subaru was still alive, despite him being asleep. Seriously, when is the warden going to wake him up?
No wait, that would mean writing out an entire interaction where Subaru must explain the shit he went through to everyone. Though there will be a time he wakes up... if Watching Him Die Again and Again ever gets updated lmao.
Well guys, how was that for a oneshot? I feel like I could have written more, but English ain't my first language. I did follow the advice from the dudes at the discord server, and blended their advice into this fic. Please leave a review and tell me what I could have written, because this scene needs a lot of detail: Everyone is watching Subaru die to the great rabbit. Of course there would be bawling and screaming and everyone holding on to Subaru as if to protect him.
For those of you confused why Emilia is giggling as Subaru is being eaten alive... it's because she became Emilia from the kiss of death loop, until she came back together and began perceiving reality like she should be. I thought it would be a nice detail to have a mindbroken emilia seeing her knight be eaten alive, hope I executed it properly.
