I was falling, I didn't know for how long, it felt like it was forever. It felt weird though, like instead of falling through the air, I was sinking in a liquid. I tried thinking back, how did I get here? First I was at prom, I bit tipsy but still very conscious. I hadn't gotten in a car and had just said goodbye to my girlfriend. I was walking home, listening to music before as I passed by an alley, I was attacked. Someone came out from the shadows and stabbed me, I fell to the floor and just as my vision faded to black, my attacker pulled back his hoodie, and my father said, "See you in hell."
Oh god, I was dead. I looked at my hands, but it was too dark to make them out clearly. The only thing I could see was a wall of crimson. I tried moving around but I didn't have the energy to do so. Just as I felt like I was about to fall unconscious the clouds broke away and a sprawling city appeared. It looked a lot like any other city, but the large clock tower reminded me a lot of London. I braced myself for pain as the ground rapidly approached, but it didn't come.
I got up, looking around. It looked normal, except the sky was a sea of those crimson coloured clouds, and there were a lot of weird religious sounding billboards around. And the clock tower, in the lower portion of the clock face it had a bit saying 'Days till next Cleanse' with the number below it showing zero. What the hell is a cleanse? As I looked around I couldn't see anyone else, I couldn't even see any movement.
Suddenly, weird symbols began to appear in my vision. It started with one or two popping up in the corner of my eye as I turned, but they quickly multiplied until they were overwhelming my vision. Then, as suddenly as they appeared, they disappeared in an instant.
"What the hell was that?" I yelled, wondering why I even expected an answer.
Suddenly I heard a crunch behind me. I spun around not knowing what to do. My instincts were confused, should I fight, or run? Two figures appeared from around a corner, one with wings, both carrying spears, and as they drew closer I could see an x over their one of their eyes. Then they noticed me. They paused and looked at each other, before looking back at me, with huge grins on their faces.
"Fresh meat." One of them exclaimed with glee, before it lurched at me with its spear.
I managed to dodge it, but was kicked to the ground by the one with wings. As I lay there groaning the one without wings picked be up, a grin going from ear to ear on their face. It threw me against a wall, before laying their foot on my chest holding me down and readying their spear.
"Shame we couldn't play with you more." It laughed, before plunging its spear into my chest.
It twisted the spear around in my chest, making sure it dealt as much damage as possible. I desperately grabbed at the spear shaft, trying with all my might to stop them, but I couldn't. But just as my vision started to fade, and by grip started to weaken, an inhuman bout of strength overcame me. I broke the spear shaft in half, tossing it away before pulling the part in my chest out. As I stood up a bright yellow light shone from my chest, and the symbols from before began to cloud my vision again.
Adrenaline surged through my body as the winged one threw its spear at me, which I caught, and snapped like a twig. I then almost teleported to the one without wings, grabbed it by the head, and pushed it to its knees. My eyes turned blood red, as the thing's face began to melt beneath my hand. It screamed, begging me to stop, begging for mercy, but it only seemed to make the process happen faster. Eventually the screaming stopped and what I dropped on the ground resembled a partially melted candle as much as it did the creature before.
I looked at the other creature, but it flew away in fear before I could even move. An overwhelming pain overcame me, causing me to bend over, clutching my head. I could barely stand, managing only to stumble over to a nearby dumpster before falling to the ground and blacking out.
When I finally woke, it was lighter, and I could hear the hustle and bustle of the city. I'd even almost forgot about the previous night, but was quickly reminded when instead of people, I saw weird creatures. I stumbled back into the alley in surprise, then finally got a look at myself, as I looked into a nearby puddle.
I had jet-black hair, already tied in a bun for some reason; and was wearing a skin-tight full-body grey jumpsuit with black lining, and a hood. I look more and there was an x right in the middle of my chest, wonder why that's there. As I started to get up I saw someone blocking the alley exit.
"You shouldn't be here missy." The man said in a grumpy and creepy voice. He had large arms, and a beer belly, "You should come with me."
"I'm not here for your bullshit." I replied, trying to walk past him.
"Not happening." He exclaimed, pushing me back.
Once again, I had adrenaline pumping through my veins, but this time, I could feel something different. My hands began to burn, and as my eyes turned red again, I lurched my right arm forward and a tentacle burst out of it, grabbing the man and began to squeeze. I couldn't tell whether it was from my eyes or if it really was that colour, but it was a deep crimson red. The man begged and begged for mercy, but I couldn't stop, I didn't want to stop. Eventually I did though, and what I dropped on the ground was the grey-white dead version of the man from before.
As the adrenaline left my body I finally realised what I'd done. I fell backward surprised, leaning against a mesh fence, my hands against my face in horror. What had I done? The last day had been horrible, and where even was I? As I lay there crying I could hear someone approach. They stopped momentarily at the corpse before continuing to walk towards me.
"Are you okay, my dear?" they asked, sounding like a radio.
"You should leave," I replied, crying, "I'll hurt you."
"I'm not so sure about that." They replied.
The person held their outstretched arm by mine, gesturing for me to take it. As I moved my hand to take it, it began to glow slightly, before suddenly stopping as I took theirs. The person was wearing a red suit, black pants, large ears growing through their hair, and was carrying a cane in their other hand.
"My name's Alastor." They said, "And stuff's about to become a lot more interesting around here."
