Summary:

Never let go of a good thing. That's the want the Yo-kai Heroes won't leave behind.

Their union with Mataro was a great cosmic rendezvous. A perfect once-in-a-lifetime friendship that didn't require a trek into outer space or a warp through a wormhole into the ancient past to truly be great or truly be cosmic, though it didn't hurt to have either experience.

Jinpei retracts his statement. It hurt lotsa times!

Mataro could accept going it solo on a suicide mission to blow up Mazera.

He could accept the risk to himself absorbing the resurrected Soranaki into his body by will alone.

He could even accept moving to America and leaving Y Academy and all his esteemed comrades behind.

But none of the Yo-kai Heroes was an onion-headed Tamada Mataro. The teenagers had YSP, but not the shoegazer's inexplicable powers – intriguing and captivating and beyond the grasp of understanding – that Kuka and Lord Enma glossed over and then just ran with.

Soranaki…The big boss…The main villain…Overseer of Yo-kai World's near destruction…Subjugated with such ease! And in his utmost final form!

Indeed, none of them was Mataro. Not Fubuki. Not Mera. Not Kyubi, Chiaki, Mitsumatagi, Ranto, or Koma.

Not Jiba Jinpei. His hero, who he always looked up to. Who always made him smile.

None of them was a Tamada Mataro, which is why they needed Mataro back.

Without him around, jack j-j-j-jived. Jinpei couldn't ad-lib the right words to rap by. They missed Mataro's distressed energy and fourth wall-breaking commentary from their fights against countless Onryo, Yo-kai, and hated space aliens. The green twinkle he brought to the red, blue, and yellow of their lives.

At an exciting yet angering moment like this, Jinpei was glad he asked Kuka to create him a specialized Mataro Medal.

"Come out, Mataro!"

Obviously, Mataro is confused to find himself at school again after being in the car only seconds prior. More and more so because Jinpei is wearing his Kerropi, having somehow "accidentally" swapped underwear with him before his mom drove up to the front gate to whisk him off to the States.

Before Mataro can reprimand Jinpei for the embarrassing mistake (well, embarrassing to Mataro, anyway), he spots the slimy Onryo disappearing parts of Y Academy, and the noisy, laughing, attention-hogging stranger battling it.

Kasuga Kirameki? ("It isn't Kasuga! It's Sasuga!")

"A SUDDEN NEW CHARACTERRR!"

Jinpei is high hearing Mataro's line, and their friends quickly jump on the bandwagon.

Kuka-senpai was inspirational. Surely. Their watches summoned Onryo, but she'd searched out a way to summon Mataro too.

So he wasn't outside the Majin Watch's teleportation range, as Bluepon had been when he went vacationing!

Now, they were ready to sick Mataro on Kezuso.

Now, their feelings are becoming one again.

Encountering changes together. A scatter of stars in the magnitude of the universe. A friendship circle above the Earth.

Papaya Payapaya Papayapa

Jam.

Jinpei and Mataro.

Woah, oh, oh! Jinpei's love for Mataro was burning up!

"Aah! Mataro! We can't go along without you after all!"

"Jinpei-kun! DON'T DECIDE THINGS ON YOUR OWN, PLEASE!
