A/N: I'm writing this with one of my friends, we're having a lot of fun with it, hope y'all enjoy it! Also, this fic is rated T just to be safe. There might be some mild language in the future, but that's about it.

Luke was out of song ideas. Of course, he'd dealt with writer's block before, but right now he had a deadline! He and the band wanted to have a new song ready for the end of year dance that they were performing at Julie's school. Argh! What was he going to do?

Suddenly, he remembered how much of a hit Flying Solo was, and thought that the dream box might have some other great ideas. Completely disregarding Julie's "boundaries" -who needs them anyways- he poofed into her room.

Julie wasn't home from school yet, so he had some time. Luke scanned the room, trying to find the dream box since she had moved it after the whole Flying Solo situation. He found it on her desk, she must've added another idea into it recently. Perfect.

When he opened it, his perceptions were confirmed. There, in the box, among several other neatly folded pieces of paper, lay Julie's newest creation. A piece of lined paper entitled "Perfect Harmony". Luke opened it eagerly, unable to resist seeing what genius lyric Julie had cooked up. Inside he found the chorus of Julie's newest song:

4-15-2020

Perfect Harmony

Chorus:

We say we're friends

We play pretend

You're more to me, we create

Perfect harmony

At first, Luke thought it was about himself. Then, he saw the date, and remembered. April fifteenth was the day that Julie and Nick had that dance recital. He should've known Julie was into Nick. How could he think he had a chance with her? But still, after everything, Julie loved Nick?

Luke thought that they had a connection, but he guessed he was wrong. It just wasn't like that. They were bandmates, friends, but not a couple. Luke scolded himself, he should know better! He was a ghost -dead!- and she was alive.

He didn't have a chance with her.

Luke paced around the studio for an hour, waiting for Julie to get home. *cue Luke's grumpy face* After what seemed like an eternity to Luke, Julie bursted into the studio.

Plopping herself onto the piano bench, she looked up, grinning, and said, "So what's first on the agenda? We've got a lot to work on!"

Luke didn't respond, and went to pick up his guitar. He played a few notes and chords, what he thought should be the opening of Perfect Harmony.

"Uhhh Luke, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

"Is there something wrong?"

"No."

Julie was confused. Luke didn't usually act like this. Something had to be up… but why wasn't he telling her?

"Are you sure?"

"Yes I'm sure, okay?! You know what, let's just start working on a new song. I was- I was thinking maybe we could experiment with Perfect Harmony."

"Yeah okay, Perfe- LUKE?! HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT SONG?"

"Um- I may have- uh- gone through your dream box?" Luke confesses scratching the back of his neck.

"Luke! You went through my dream box?!"

"Julie it isn't that big of a deal!"

"Yes! It is! You can't just go through my stuff like that! WE HAD THAT WHOLE LECTURE ON BOUNDARIES! HOW DIDN'T THE MESSAGE GET THROUGH TO YOU?!"

Just as Julie was yelling at Luke, Reggie and Alex poofed into the studio. Neither Luke or Julie noticed.

"Julie! It's fine! I know who you wrote it about! I'm happy that you love him!"

"No it isn't fi- wait- who do you think it's about?"

"Nick."

"Luke, WHY do you think it's about someone I love?! Let alone Nick?!"

"Ohh I don't know… Maybe the way you look at each other? Maybe the fact that the date was the day you and him had that dance routine? Because the lyrics are "We say we're friends, we play pretend"? Any number of things Julie!"

"Honestly Luke-!"

Unbeknownst to Julie and Luke, Reggie was fighting back tears.

A/N: Hope you liked the first chapter! My friend and I have the whole plot planned out, this will probably be a 2 shot. Please leave a review- I cherish constructive criticism!
