this story is inspired by "In This Mad, Mad World" on Ao3 and "Never Let Me Go" the movie because i read In This Mad Mad World recently and i got really interested in the idea of regulus being a squib and i watched Never Let Me Go and it's stuck with me ever since for some reason like i think about it everyday it's kinda weird but yeah.
the characters are all the marauder era characters + two Oc's i made for this named Melanie and Bea.
also i don't not support JK rowling's transphobic views i just love these dead wizards from the 70s
also also this will take place in modern day because i have no idea what life was like in the 70s i didn't even exist
that actually wasn't that much i'm just dramatic.
June 25th
On June 25th Walburga and Orion Black welcomed another son to the family. They already had one son Sirius who was just a few months shy of being two years older then his new baby brother. When he was just 1 year old Sirius was already showing signs of magic which set their expectations high for little Regulus. When a year passed and Regulus didn't show any sign of magic they didn't think much. Another year passed and nothing changed. Then another. Another. and another. They decided to take him to a professional to see what was wrong with their son.
On April 17th Walburga and Orion black found out their son was a squib. Walburga broke down sobbing and screaming.
On May 5th Orion went to Arcturus Black with his problem and Arcturus remembered a place he heard about many years ago.
Madam Blythe's House For Squibs
In 1925 Madam Blythe house for squibs of pure blood families. The building was the size of multiple mansions put together making it easy to get lost. It was constantly dark and the only thing lighting up the place was a few candles and the little bit of that came in through the few windows. It was the only building for miles but there were still gates restricting where the children could go.
Most of the children where dropped off at a young age. They usually never got any visitors and most didn't remember anything about their families or life before they arrived at Madam Blythe's.
When a family dropped them off that had to sign a contract that pretty much says "no going back" once you've dropped you kid off Madam Blythe's has custody. The contract held a dark secret that you would never know unless you had a kid at Madam Blythe's.
To the rest of the world Madam Blythe's was a normal orphanage for squibs but what they didn't know was after the children turned 18 they started a series of experiments to "bring the magic out in them". Each kid had a different series of potions that the workers would give them. Most didn't make it past 35. That's the secret of Madam Blythe's it's a death wish for whoever gets dropped off.
