I don't own any characters. Crash belongs to both Paul Haggis and Lions Gate Films.
I was inspired by something I read online that blanks can still kill if they're fired at close range.
Warning, this contains child death and may to be triggering to some readers.
Lara's point of view:
It had been a nice day at school and I couldn't wait to play and watch tv. Then, I heard yelling outside and I looked out through the window-door and saw a strange man that I've never seen before yelling at Daddy and pointing a gun at him!
"Daddy!" I cried out to him in both fear and confusion.
"Stay inside." Was all my Daddy said to me before he yelled for Mommy.
The strange man continued to yell at my Daddy.
I called out to him again before he told me to stay inside. Why? He didn't have the invisible cloak anymore? I did! And he needed right now!
"Mommy!" I called out to her as she cleaned the dishes.
"He doesn't have it!" I warned her.
"He doesn't have what?" My Mommy asked in confusion.
"I have it! He doesn't have the invisible cloak!" I called out to her before I opened the door and rushed outside to protect my Daddy.
"Lara. Stay out of the street." My Mommy called after me as I ran outside and jumped my Daddy's arms just as the strange man fired the gun.
However, the cloak must've not been working right, because I felt something go into me and before I knew what was happening I was screaming and crying alongside my Mommy and Daddy. He was trying to comfort me as he quickly carried me into his car as Mommy followed. As he threw me into the back as Mommy began to take us to the doctor, my Daddy was trying so hard to keep me awake, but everything hurt so much and all I wanted to do was sleep! Daddy tried so hard, but I was so tired and my eyes were so heavy! Then, I lost the strength to keep them open and I closed my eyes as I faded away from my Mommy and Daddy with a strange sense of peaceā¦.
Dori's point of view:
I was just about to take a lunch break after going over a murder victim at the morgue, when I got a phone call from the front desk.
I picked up the phone with "Yes this is Dori."
Then, I heard my Baba's voice as he cried over the phone in Farsi "Dori, I killed a little girl today!"
"What?!" I cried out in Farsi.
As his words rang over and over again in my head, a million other thoughts followed afterwards.
That's impossible! I bought blanks! I never should've let him buy a gun in the first place! I should've stayed with him and Mama this morning! I could've stopped it!
After what seemed to be an eternity, I managed to pull myself out of my head as I pleaded in Farsi "Baba. Tell me it's not true. Please tell me it's not true."
Sadly Baba was quiet for a moment before he answered in Farsi "I called to say goodbye to you before I turn myself in. I already said goodbye to your mother. Don't try to visit me in jail and don't try to spend any money on me."
Then, before Dori could protest, he hung up!
Dori was torn between demanding that her boss call him back and not doing anything. However, all she could do right now was run towards the bathroom crying in despair as she wondered how could everything have gone so wrong?
