The gods looked down at earth, and the eldest laughed. "Ha! Serves you right you old coot!"

The second youngest elbowed him. "Don't say that about your own kousch! He's worked hard his whole life, you know."

The second youngest god was pouting, cheeks puffed out and stomping the ground. The youngest peered down and smiled, it's insectoid features warping strangely.

The third eldest spoke up, "Oh, it looks like Tuhean has chosen its first kousch. It's about time you've decided, who is it?"

The now named Tuhean pointed to a young boy with green hair and even greener eyes, who lived in a suburban neighbourhood in Japan. The others all nodded and hummed approval, except for Tyler who just shouted similarly to his own kousch. YEAH! No one really knew where Tyler or his kou' came from.

Tuhean reached a single claw down into the world, and tapped his first kousch on his forehead. The green boy yawned, suddenly tired, and told his caregiver— mother, Tuhean corrects itself— that he was taking a nap. The boy went to sleep, and Tuhean slipped into his dreams.

Izuku was going to his quirk appointment tomorrow! He was so excited, he would finally know what his quirk was so he could be a hero with his best friend, Kacchan! The little boy beamed and went to watch his favourite video before being hit with a sudden wave of fatigue. Izuku yawned and left the computer room in favour of the living room, where his mom was watching the news.

"Mommy?" Izuku caught Inko's attention, and the kind woman looked over questioningly.

"Yes sweetie-pie?" She smiled as her son responded.

"Imma go take a nap, otay?" Izuku rubbed his eye and yawned once more.

"Of course! Just let me know when you wake up alright?"

Izuku nodded and barely made it to his room before he collapsed on his bed, asleep before his head hit the blanket.

———————————

Izuku climbed through the door of the feather he was just in and jumped into the ocean. He sank to the bottom and tried to keep running but eventually tripped on a sack of clams before taking out his butterfly net and capturing a moth who had just swallowed him whole. After Izuku hopped into the mine cart, he sees a bug-man at the nearest Whataburger and decides to talk to him.

"Hey! Mr bug man! Hi!" Izuku waved with a disembodied hand and dematerialised in front of a fairly large opossum, turning into the same moth that ate his entire house and then the dog that created god. Trotting up to bug man, Izuku plopped down an unreasonably small egg and hatched out of it, coughing up a handful of salt and smiling at the bugman.

"Your dreams amuse me, young one. I would like to offer you my power to use as your own."

Izuku transformed into the whale from earlier and exploded with excitement, asking questions at a million miles per hour, "Oh my goodness! Are you giving me your quirk? Do you have control over bugs or do you just look like one, can you understand them at all? If you accidentally ate an ant or something would that be considered cannibalism or just extra protein, what do you mean that you're going to give me your power? Who are you, if you give me your power will I look like a bug too—"

"Enough questions child, I cannot answer them if you do not give me time to!"

Izuku flushes into a tomato, his little tomato mouth apologising as fast as it could.

"The only requirement to be bestowed with my gift is to occasionally do tasks for me, do you accept?"

Izuku nods violently, back as his normal self. "I accept! What's the power by the way?"

Bug man smiled mysteriously, "you'll have to find out yourself, young one."

Bugman faded away in a kaleidoscope of colours, mostly green. Izuku went to the doctor and woke up, ending the bizarre dream.

———————————

Izuku woke up, quickly forgetting the entire dream he had except for the part with Bug man. He beamed and launched himself off his All Might themed bed, sprinting into the empty living room. "Momma?"

Quickly realising his mother was not there, Izuku went to the kitchen where she was making lunch, shouting quickly, "MOM! Ifinallygotmyquirksonowicanbeahero!"

Inko startled, nearly dropping a knife covered in peanut butter to the counter. "Woah! What happened sweetheart?"

Taking a deep breath, Izuku looked like the sun as he beamed brightly, "I finally got my quirk!"

Inko grinned at her son warmly, finishing the pb and handing it to her son. "Fantastic! What does it do?"

Izuku took a big bite of his sandwich and spoke through the food. "It has something to do with bugs, I don't know yet!"

Inko got a concerned look on her face before schooling it back into a normal expression. She didn't believe him. "Do… do you think you can show me what it does?"

Izuku's face brightened to an impossible degree and he screwed his eyes shut in concentration. Unbeknownst to him, bugs of all sorts were crawling from under the front door, the back door, windows and cupboards. Inko's face paled at all of the spiders coming from under the couch, cockroaches emerging from the drain and moths from closets. It was horrifying, and she went rigid. Next to izuku the bugs all piled up, and up, into the approximation of a human form. It buzzed. "SeE mOm? I cAn cOnTroL bUgS!"

The unsteady thrum of insects speaking was too much for poor Inko to handle, and she fainted. She certainly believed him now! The amalgamation fell into a writhing pile as Izuku let go of them and saw that his mom was on the floor. Immediately panicking, Izuku dropped to his knees and shook her quickly. "Momma? Momma!"

Izuku was near tears by the time she awoke, and burst out crying when she sat up. "I- I did the thing wi-with my bugs, an-nd you went t-to sleep really faaaast! I-I was so scaaaarrred!"

Inko started crying because her favourite boy was crying, and she consoled him as he sobbed. Once they had both calmed down a bit, Izuku asked, "D-do you like my quirk Momma?"

Smiling softly, Inko nodded.

———————————

It was the next day and Inko was warming up some rice for breakfast before Izuku's quirk appointment, which she hadn't canceled due to the exorbitant late cancel fee. When the microwave beeped Inko called Izuku down, and the young boy practically flew down the stairs, a few spiders trailing after him as he plopped down in his usual seat at the edge of the table. Izuku set down a small All Might figurine onto the table as he waited for his mother to give him his breakfast.

Inko took the big bowl of rice, spooned out two portions of rice and set the rest back in the still-open fridge. She added a small handful of brown sugar and a pinch of salt into the hot food and mixed it up, putting a dab of cream cheese into them both as well. Mixing once again, Inko set the small bowl in front of her son and they linked hands, Izuku grabbing the figurine with his left hand and his mothers hand with his right. Inko also grabbed All Might.

"Time to say grace Izu!" Izuku nodded and beamed— I may be the lowly narrator, but I may need to buy myself a pair of sunglasses with how bright Izuku is— tilting his head down and closing his eyes, they both spoke quietly, "We come together in good grace, as I trust you to prepare my meal, you trust me to enjoy it. Amen"

Izuku and Inko dug into the sweet meal, Izuku devouring the entire thing in a few minutes. He set his bugs on the dirty bowl, and a few crickets cleaned it out. Izuku had discovered the day before that he could do almost anything with his bugs, he could see through their eyes, hear what they hear, mass control them and individually control them! He tried to improve his 'buzz talk' but it was pretty hard for him to make it more steady and consistent.

Even when he wasn't controlling them, bugs were still nice to him! The jumping spider that lived in the bathroom gave Izuku a penny, and the yellow jackets that lived under the ledge of his window left him a little blue bead! It was really cool, and the bugs were even smart enough to talk to him. "Izuku sweety, your mumbling."

Shaking his head quickly, Izuku apologised and picked up his doll to play with as he waited for his mom to finish her food. Luckily for his impatient little brain Inko finished soon enough and stood up, taking both of their bowls to the sink to wash later. Izuku leapt up out of his chair at this sight and bounced to the door to wait even further.

Finally catching up, Inko laughed at Izuku's excitement and put on her shoes, watching Izuku eagerly do the same and trip the moment he took a step. "Baby I know you're excited but you still need to tie your shoes!"

Embarrassed now, the young boy knelt down and tied his shoes. When he stood Izuku took Inkos hand and they stepped out the door, both ready to go to a useless doctors appointment.

———————————

"What?" Inko was very confused.

"Yes, I'm sorry but your son is quirkless."

Dr. Shiga was confused as to why Mrs. Midoriya was confused. He had done all of the required tests, all of the bloodwork and such.

"But doctor, Izuku manifested his quirk yesterday!"

Now Dr. Shiga was confused because of this woman's words, how would a boy who had no quirk factor have a quirk? "Um, are you sure ma'am?"

That was all he could really say, because she was either mistaken, insane, or the test had a false negative, which had never happened or been recorded in the 64 years the quirk factor test had been around.

"I'm completely sure. Izuku, do you still have the spider you found outside?"

"Yeah momma, what for?"

"I want you to show the nice doctor here what you can do with your quirk."

Izuku nodded and closed his eyes, a quite large spider crawling out of his hair, hopping onto his shoulder, then onto his outstretched palm. The quirk doctor paled at the venomous Joro spider on this young boys hand, quickly backing away.

"Whats wrong Mister Shiga?" Izuku asked with curiosity. Izuku had never been afraid of bugs, even before the bug man gave him a bug quirk, so he didn't understand why the doctor was so fearful.

"W-well young man, there are two reasons to that, the first being I am afraid of spiders, and the second being that I am allergic to Joro spiders."

Izuku nodded in understanding. He knew Kacchan was afraid of bugs even though he wouldn't admit it, so the doctor being afraid of spiders was a completely valid answer.

"Oh, okay! If you want I can pull out a grasshopper instead?"

Dr. Shiga shuddered and relaxed slightly, "That would be much preferable, Midoriya."

Izuku gently set the spider in his hair and pull out a small grasshopper instead. Izuku thought-told the insect to get onto the table and do 3 spins, and it did. Inko sat next to him silently, watching the bug with the doctor.

"Can you do anything other than control it, Midoriya-kun?" the doctor asked.

"Yeah! I can see through its eyes and if I have enough of them I can make them talk!"

"Interesting," the doctor wrote down what Izuku told him, "What would you like to name it?"

"Um… you know what doctors are called who study bugs?

"Entomologist?"

"Yes! I want it to be called En-Ento-- Entomancy! Bug magic!" Izuku vibrated with excitement at the fantastic name that he chose.

"How about Entomopathy? You can always change it later, but it sounds more official don't you think?"

Izuku paused to think a bit. 'Mancy' showed up in videogames, and 'pathy' was in 'telepathy' which was his moms quirk, so… "Yeah! Entomopathy!"
