The APC moves across the forested terrain with ease. The APC is of the M113 variant with the G&K logo proudly printed on its sides. It crushes the debris in front of it with ease as it approaches its destination.
Inside the metal transport, a woman sits uncomfortably inside. Her height makes it difficult for her to get comfortable in the small passenger area of the APC. Her hair is done in a pixie cut and has a natural silverish hue to it. She wears the typical red and black G&K uniform with a beret on her head. Her face is extremely serious and a grimace stains her face as the APC bumps over debris.
After some time the APC finally comes to a halt much to the happiness of the austere woman. The ramp in the back opens and the woman is greeted by the morning sun as well as a man wearing a G&K uniform and carrying a tablet.
"Good morning ma'am." The man says not looking up from his tablet. "I hope the journey was pleasant."
The austere woman crouch walks out of the APC and stands tall outside of it. She easily reaches more than six feet and stands taller than the camo man. What skin is exposed in her uniform is a pale white. Her green eyes shimmer in the morning sun.
"Yes, it was quite the ride." She says flatly. The woman looks behind her at the APC. "They should really make those things bigger."
The camo man smiles a fake smile. "Yes of course ma'am as the primary transport of the base I'll see that changes are made."
"O-oh you don't have to make changes cause of me." The austere woman says slightly panicky. "Anyway, we never made introductions."
The camo man nods. He is shorter than the woman but not by much. His head is shaved and his eyes are a grey color. His skin is a light shade of copper. He puts up a formal salute. "People call me Def. 22." The camo man says. "I will be your adjutant while you serve at this base under Helian's direct command."
The austere woman returns the salute. "Erika Mitsuko. 35. Newly promoted Commander of G&K sent here under Helian's command."
Def puts down his salute. "Ah good to finally meet you, Commander." He extends a hand of greeting to Erika.
Erika takes his hand and shakes it. "Would you mind filling me in on the status of the base?"
"Of course Commander," Def says pointing to a big building across the road they stand by. "That would be HQ." He points to the left to another building. "That is storage and the building behind both is the production bay."
"What about the three building's behind us," Erika asks.
"Those would be dormitories 1-6 respectively," Def says. "Come. Let me get you acquainted with the HQ."
Def starts to move to the HQ building with Erika slowly following behind. She makes mental notes of where everything is as she follows Def into the HQ building. They enter through two bulletproof glass doors and enter into the main area of HQ. Wood floors and wood-paneled walls greet the duo as they enter.
"This is the lobby," Def says. He points to the door right of him. "That's my office." He points to the door exactly opposite it. "And that would be yours. Feel free to get acquainted with it later." He walks forward passing the circular desk in the middle of the lobby. He opens the door. "If you would…"
Erika nods and follows Def into the adjoining hallway. The hallway is short with a door on the end of it leading to another room as well as an intersection. They stop in the middle of the intersection.
"In front of us is your room. Your room is exactly opposite to the lobby for ease of access." Def explains. "To the right of us is the cafeteria where the T-dolls will gather for meals, and to the left…" Def moves and opens the door.
"Another room of doors?" Erika says.
"Yes Commander," Def says laughably. "Blame the previous Commander for the layout. Anyway to the left is a smaller room where we keep the servers. To the right is the meeting room where you can bring guests in to talk. Your room also has a door leading to the meeting room if needed."
"I see," Erika says.
"That's about it for HQ, ma'am," Def says looking at his tablet. "Are you familiar with T-doll production and maintenance? Do you need a tour of the production building or shall we skip it?"
"Yes, I am familiar with T-dolls, Def," Erika says in an almost sarcastic tone. "We can skip the production building. I've seen enough in my day."
"As you say, ma'am," Def says typing away on his tablet. "Just know that due to power troubles the production bay is only working at fifteen percent efficiency."
"What's the problem?" Erika says opening the door to the meeting room.
"We outsource our power to a regional provider rather than relying on G&K's power grid," Def says annoyed. "The previous Commander's decision not mine. On paper it's a good idea since we don't put a strain on the already strained G&K grid, but…."
"But?"
"But it allows the provider to adjust how much power they give us willy nilly," Def says scratching his chin. "And before you ask ma'am. Yes, they have blackmailed us into giving them more supplies than necessary."
"Interesting," Erika says sitting in a chair and leaning back in it. "While we are on the subject I was told you would brief me on why I am here."
"Of course ma'am," Def says tapping away on the tablet causing a projector to come down from the ceiling causing images to be displayed on the screen. "Your primary objective is to protect this sector from Sangvis Ferri. Simple."
"There's more to it isn't there?" Erika says yawning.
"Astute ma'am," Def says smiling. "SF isn't the only power in this sector. We have also had problems with the…...natives."
"Natives?" Erika folds her hands.
"Yes, that's what the previous Commander called them." Def scratches his head. "In reality, they are a mixture of bandits and refugees. Human if that wasn't obvious."
"So not only do we have to deal with the rogue dolls of Sangvis, but we also have to deal with unpredictable human elements as well?"
"Affirmative ma'am," Def says. "Granted the human elements are easily bought off and negotiated with."
"Very interesting," Erika says leaning back in her chair. "At least this assignment won't be boring." She sits forward. "How many T-dolls are currently on base?"
Def sucks his teeth. "At the moment Commander….none." He looks away. "The previous Commander made sure to take all the T-dolls, and as many supplies as he could carry, with him when he left."
"This previous Commander is sounding like more of a thorn in my side the more you speak of him." Erika jokes. "Well, let's get production on the way."
Def taps away on the tablet. "Luckily he had the good graces to leave behind some quick production contracts so we should have an echelon ready to go at once."
"Good, get on it," Erika says. "I will retire to my room. Wake me up when we have an echelon full."
Def gives a salute. "Understood ma'am!"
Def leaves the room leaving Erika alone. Erika sits in silence for a few minutes before finally getting up and moving to the door leading to her room from the meeting room. She opens the door and is greeted by an average-looking room. The room is average-sized, not too big, not too small. A queen bed sits against the wall and a window outside sits by its head. A desk with a personal terminal sits in another corner of the room. Erika starts to undress as she walks around the room inspecting.
Under her red jacket, she wears a tight black crop top which leaves her stomach exposed. She unzips her pants so that they fall off from her waist revealing black biker shorts. Her body is extremely ripped and muscle-bound. Every part of her looks built even her breasts which are easily in the D-cup range. She lies down on the bed and falls asleep.
Two Hours Later
Erika wakes up to the sound of knocking at her door.
"Coming!" She shouts groggily.
The knocking stops.
Erika gets out of bed and moves to a dresser nearby. She opens the oak dresser and takes out a red G&K logoed t-shirt and black tactical pants. She slips on the outfit and puts on her black boots and beret. She sluggishly walks to the door and opens it to be greeted by the sight of Def.
"Report." Erika orders.
"Yes ma'am," Def says. "You said to report to you when production was complete and so it has been."
"What do we have?"
"It wasn't too good granted the number of supplies on hand, but we did get a full echelon."
"Guns?" Erika asks walking into the lobby with Def following behind.
"Two submachine guns, two light machine guns, and one rifle."
Erika sighs. "Not bad, but not good either."
"I've already taken the liberty of assigning them to Dormitory 1, and they currently reside there."
"Good," Erika says confidently. "Let's go meet them shall we?"
"As you say, ma'am."
The duo walks across the road leading around the compound. They stop just before a brick building that serves as dormitory 1 and 2. Def opens the door for Erika and they both enter through double doors. The dormitory lobby has three doors facing the entrance. The middle door has the words "Storage" in bold over it while the doors to its left and right have the words "Dorm 1" and "Dorm 2" respectively in bold over them.
Def leads Erika to the Dorm 1 door and opens it. The duo enter. The dorm itself is nothing special. Steel walls and steel floors. Cardboard furniture dots the room and functions as chairs and beds. A variety of dolls dressed in their uniforms dot the room idling and talking.
"Commander on deck!" Def shouts. Erika recoils at the sudden loudness of her usually quiet adjutant.
Quick as lightning the T-doll's form a line in front of Erika and stand at attention. Erika unsurprisingly stands taller than each of them and she looks down on the younger dolls.
"Sound off!" Def shouts.
"IDW, nya!"
"M3 reporting!"
"M-M200 responding!"
"M1919A4 reportin in Commander!"
"MG3 Kommandant!"
Def smiles and lets out a breath. He looks at Erika. "Your echelon 1 Commander."
Erika walks across the line inspecting the dolls. She looks at their outfits with general approval. "You guys are better dressed than most dolls. I appreciate that." Erika says. "At ease."
"Kommandant! A question." MG3 says.
"Yes MG3," Erika says. "And you can all call me Erika if Commander doesn't suit you."
"When will we be put to work!" MG3 says confidently. "My trigger finger is itching for der kampf."
Erika walks over to MG3 and places a hand on her shoulder. "Worry not fraulein….der kampf will be soon." She looks at the other dolls. "Unless a mission is unacceptable at this time?"
"No ma'am!" The dolls respond together.
"Good." Erika states. "I actually have a mission that needs to be completed at once….." She looks at the dolls. "Who's the squad leader?"
The dolls all look at M200. "W-what me?" M200 says unenthusiastically. "Why me?"
"You're the highest tier, nya," IDW says happily. "It only makes sense that your squad leader!"
"I-I guess," M200 says. "If it's alright with the Commander…"
Erika smiles slightly and smiles at the smaller girl. "Then it's settled." She looks at the wall. "I'll brief you on your mission now since I have you all."
The dolls nod.
"As of right now….we have no rations." Erika says folding her hands behind her back. "I need your squad to go out and hunt-"
Def's eyes go wide as he looks up from his tablet at Erika. He opens his mouth but stops himself before words can come out.
"-or take rations from the surrounding area…..I will warn you there will be some hostiles whether that come in human form or animal form." Erika explains.
"H-humans….." M3 stutters.
"Yes humans such as me," Erika says. "Luckily due to the nature of this mission I had the restrictions on your targeting software lifted." Erika leans into M3. "That means you can shoot a human dead on sight. Hell, you could even shoot me and Def right now if you wanted."
M3 takes a big gulp. Erika slaps her hand onto M3's shoulder causing her to jump.
"Joking, but not so joking," Erika says. "I'm trusting you to not shoot me, and I hope that I give no cause to shoot me." Erika smiles. "Anyway, I want the mission to start asap as these supplies are desperately needed."
"Understood Commander," M200 says. "We'll get on it as soon as we've geared up."
"Excellent squad leader. I look forward to a positive report." Erika says waving. "Now Def and I shall take our leave as you get geared."
Erika turns towards the door and opens it. Def follows closely his body language saying that he needs to tell Erika something important. They enter into the lobby before Def finally gathers the courage.
"Commander!" Def shouts as quiet as he can.
"Yes, Def?" Erika questions. "What's the matter?"
"About the mission you sent the girls on…." Def starts. "I don't think it's a good idea to hunt in these parts…." Def says holding back. "I think it's best if we wait for Command to send us some supplies!"
"Def what aren't you telling me?" Erika walks towards Def until she stands over him.
"It's not what I'm not telling you Commander." Def says. "It's what I haven't told you that concerns me."
"And that is?"
"The factions that surround us." Def says scratching his head.
"Explain in the meeting room." Erika says.
"Understood ma'am."
In the Meeting Room.
Erika is the first to enter and takes a seat putting her feet up on the metal table. "Alright Def lay the factions on me."
"Understood ma'am. There are three big factions in the area which can cause us the most problems." Def says pushing buttons on his tablet. The projector comes down from the ceiling. "Where to start, where to start….." Def says eyeing the projector.
"Start with the bastards with the power grid." Erika states.
"As you say ma'am." Def says pressing buttons on his tablet. The symbol of a wolf skull appears on the projector. "Uncreatively called the Wolf Clan, this group controls the nearby reactor and solar array as you know….." Def explains. "They are led by an Australian man by the name of Oliver Jakobson." Def sighs. "He and the previous Commander had a deal to guarantee power to the base…"
Erika sits up. "What deal?"
Def glances up from his tablet. "Unprogrammed T-dolls."
"Isn't that highly illegal." Erika says with suspicious eyes.
"It is if they are programmed for combat. However these were given under the grounds that they be used for pleasure rather than combat." Def explains.
"So you sold them literal sex dolls for power?" Erika says leaning back. "Not a bad deal for power…."
"There is a slight problem though." Def adjusts his tablet. "The previous Commander let the contract binding them expire. Thus the lack of power to the base." Def glances at Erika. "I can set up a meeting with the two of you if you wish to rehash the contract."
"That would be terrific Def." Erika says unethusiastitcally. "Who's next?"
"Next would be Sangvis Ferri." Def states. "Though I think you already know about them."
"You would be correct in that assumption." Erika says. "What ringleaders will we be facing out here?"
"From past experience we are facing the ringleader by the codename "Executioner"." Def states. "Though she and her forces have never clashed with our forces in the past…"
Erika looks at Def with wide eyes. "What do you mean you haven't fought with SF…..You have to be joking right."
"I wish I was, but that is a good segway into the last faction in this sector….." Def changes the image on the projector to a symbol of a upside down black spade with a raven predominantly in the middle of it. The raven's wings are made of bullets and around its neck is a dog tag. "They call themselves the Roughneck Raven. They operate somewhere in the sector…"
"What do you mean by somewhere?"
"Well…...That is to say we haven't found their FOB." Def says quietly. "They are mysterious and very territorial. What we do know about their location is that they operate in the eastern part of the sector where SF makes their FOB." Def explains. "They have unknowingly or knowingly acted as our shield against any SF aggression thus leaving us and Wolf safe from SF advances."
"So they're our guardian angels basically." Erika chuckles.
"I wouldn't go that far…." Def says. "They have been known to kill any intruders in their obscure territory lines. We've lost many squads in their part of the forest." Def leans against the table. "From what survivors come back they apparently use stolen SF tech such as reactive camo tech and plasma snipers."
"Snipers that you can't see, huh?" Erika says folding her hands in her lap. "Quite the conundrum, but at least they stay in their forest. Right?"
"Who knows." Def says shrugging. "We've spotted their troops as far as in the Wolf Clan territory. They are expert infiltrators and with the camo tech is possible they could be listening to this conversation as we speak."
Erika looks around nervously.
Def smiles. "That was a joke." He chuckles a bit. "Or at least I wish I was joking. The point is that they're reclusive and that they won't leave their territory unless something offends them….."
Erika scratches her head. "You're about to tell me that I've offended them aren't you."
Def tilts his head and nods. "Yes ma'am. They take high offense to the killing of wild animals in the sector. Most likely they won't notice, but if they do the squad could be in danger depending on their observers."
Erika sighs. "We need those rations though." She puts her hands on the desk and stands up. "I'm willing to draw their ire if that means that the base will survive."
Def smiles. "I'm glad I'm serving under a Commander with some gumption." He says proudly. "Though I forgot to mention that the Roughnecks are not opposed to communication so we can also barter with them."
"Good to know." Erika checks her watch. "Jeez it's 10:00pm already." Erika looks at Def. "Are we done here?"
"Yes ma'am. There's more I could explain, but this will have to do for now." Def says pressing buttons on his tablet causing the projector to go up. "If you're going to sleep, have a nice rest." Def says giving an informal salute. He quickly leaves before Erika can respond.
Erika nods. "Quick to leave, huh." She thinks to herself as she yawns. She moves to the door and opens it revealing her room. She sluggishly walks over to her bed and collapses into it. The soft sheets and pillow coddle her to sleep and within seconds she's out like a light.

First chapter of an ongoing story I'm writing focusing purely on the GFL universe. As usual it'll only have references to the main story of the game. (Mostly cause I'm stuck on a certain part in-game lol) Anyways I hope you enjoy this first chapter and look forward to future chapters. :D
