They had walked non-stop for the past two hours, and Chihiro felt the panic he pushed at the back of his mine came closer and louder.
There was no one they had met after the massive earthquake hit Kanagawa. Or at least no one alive.
His little brother looked like he was barely conscious, trudging through the empty roads with glassy eyes and laboured breathing that wrenched his heart. Seeing his sweet, kind brother enduring any type of pain had always send him into an overprotective mode frenzy, but they didn't really have that luxury until this point of time.
Looking around, his eyes landed on a large shady tree -which miraculously is still standing straight - and after their trek the sight of a possible resting place is divine.
" 'Tsuya, let's take a break over there", Chihiro murmured down to his brother, and before Tetsuya could voice anything his wrist was tugged firmly and he let himself be dragged to their prospect resting station.
"Nii-san," the teal-haired ducked his head, "did you bring ointments today?", baby blue eyes peeked from underneath lashes hopefully. The older Mayuzumi blinked, hands strecthing into his manga bag pack and after a few minutes of searching, he let out a harrumph when he didn't manage to procure the ointment he usually bring around.
"Ah, sorry 'Tsuya," he intoned flatly, but his eyes were unmistakably filled with concern as he rove his eyes up and down his brother's figure, "did anywhere hurt?"
"I'm fine, Nii-san." The teen tried to smile to appease his brother but the second he moved to change to a better position, a crackle of pain shot up his spine and legs and he couldn't hide his flinch. "Oh yeah?", the said Nii-san rose an eyebrow at that.
"Yes."
" 'Tsuya, lying to your Nii-san is not nice."
"...I think I sprained my leg and back, Nii-san."
A victory smirk appear for moment but quickly replaced by a thoughtful expression, "Come here, I think I can do something," his rough palm guided his petite brother to sit in front of him.
Then, feeling satisfied at the arrangement, he carefully kneaded his two thumbs across Tetsuya's spine, and at that time Chihiro was extremely glad he went to the massaging classes that their grandmother had insisted him in learning, family tradition and what-not. Under his ministration, he felt the muscles beneath his fingers slowly yet surely come to loose. Not wanting to startle his brother, he quietly asked, "How was it?", to which he received something that vaguely sounded like a mumbled 'thank you, Nii-san' and 'not athletic'.
He couldn't do much for the leg though, but he used a cloth he found in his bag, 'huh, didn't remember to put it there' to wrap it around teh sprained area, just tight enough that it will he easier to walk on.
As much as he wanted to just sit there and wait for help with Tetsuya, he couldn't, and knowing his brother he would probably caught a fever sooner or later, and he'd rather that they are at a safe place and secured with food and a reliable shelter when that time comes.
Grabbing all the supplies and shoving them back in his bag, and after thoroughly making sure they didn't left anything important, "Let's go, Nii-san" ,
He badly wanted to rest till the night falls or whatever, but- " Yeah, let's".
Hopefully they will find survivors.
