"What I would give to go on missions with you guys again?" A man in his early 30s sat on the edge of his bed, holding a picture frame in his hands. He sighed as he rubbed his thumb over the picture.
"What's that daddy?" He heard a little girl's voice ask in such a sweet voice, that it could rival Numbuh 3's. The man looked down, seeing an eight year old girl with blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. She was dressed in a short orange dress that reminded him of what his wife used to wear when she was Supreme Leader of the KND.
"And what are you doing up past your bedtime Katherine?" The man asked, although not mad or surprised at his daughter.
"I couldn't sleep and I heard you talking to yourself." Katherine yawned, rubbing her eyes.
Normally, he would just send her back to her room, but he just couldn't resist. He reached down to pick her up and placed her down on his lap.
"Have you ever heard of the Kids Next Door?"
"How do you know about the KND? You're an adult." Surprised and confused, she looked down at the picture. It was of a group of friends, smiling and standing in front of a treehouse.
"Long ago, me and your mother were operatives in the Kids Next Door. This was my sector, Sector V, and I was their leader Numbuh 1." He explained as he pointed at himself in the picture.
"You were the leader of famous Sector V? No way!" She whispered, excited to hear her father was The Numbuh 1.
"Yep, and your mother was the Supreme Leader of the Kids Next Door." He smiled when he saw his daughters face light up like a Christmas Tree.
"That's soo cool. I can't wait to tell all my friends in my sector." Katherine said joyfully, almost jumping out of bed.
Nigel Uno laughed at his daughters excitement.
Way more energetic than Numbuh 3 too.
"This is Numbuh 2, Hoagie Gilligan, the best pilot and technological expert in the entire Kids Next Door, and my best friend. This is Numbuh 3, Kiki Sanban, kind of like you, she is energetic, always looking for fun, and boy, does she love Rainbow Monkeys. Here is Numbuh 4, Wallabee Beatles, probably the roughest and toughest operative I know, not all there in the head but his loyalty knows no bounds. Lastly, there's Numbuh 5, Abigail Lincoln, the reason I became an operative. The most loyal, smartest and bravest operative in the world, well besides your mother. Abby is the only person I know that can lead the team better than I could." He explained as he pointed to each operative, he looked down at his daughter who listened intently.
"Wow! Do you think I could meet them?" She asked, as all young kids did, they were a curious bunch.
"Maybe one day. I actually haven't gotten the chance to see them yet. We all separated after me and your mother were chosen to be secret TND operatives. I believe they may still be active."
"TND? What's that?" Katherine inquired, looking up to her father with those blue eyes.
Nigel chuckled before answering.
"TND, or Teenagers Next Door, is a secret organization of the KND, where the best operatives are chosen to stay as operatives even after they turn 13. We worked with the Kids Next Door, as teens. Covert operations, pretending to be decommissioned, we joined the Teens to spy on them from the inside, get any intel on them, and report back to Global Command. When me and your mother were chosen, she had to step down as Supreme Leader, but me and her stayed together, through the years as Teenage Operatives, we stayed loyal and truthful to help out kids everywhere. It was a dream come true, especially when me and your mother..."
"Proclaimed our love to one another in front of everyone at the Moonbase." They both turned their heads, the blonde beauty known as Rachel McKenzie, ex Supreme Leader of the Kids Next Door, Numbuh 362. The young woman had woken up to the two talking, still in her nightgown, she rubbed her eyes tired. Kneeling up, she went up behind her husband, wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his neck.
"Oh honey, I didn't know you were up." He responded, leaning into his wife and caressing her hands.
"You get pretty enthusiastic when you're talking about the KND,.you know that right Nigel?" She replied, kissing his hand.
"Well it was where I met the love of my life, wasn't it?" He smiled as he caressed her cheek, kissing her. She returned the kiss full heartedly.
"Ewww!" Katherine squealed as she turned away and closed her eyes.
Nigel and Rachel chuckled together, sharing a look.
"Remind you of someone?" The Brit laughed before being nudged quietly.
"Oh come on, she's nothing like 86." Rachel laughed beside her husband.
"I was thinking more like Numbuh 4 but that works too. Sweetheart, it's time for you to go back to bed, you have school in the morning." Nigel soothed.
"Awww, do I have to? I want to hear more about your adventures." Their daughter whined. She yawned, which didn't help her case.
"How about if you go to sleep right now, I promise I will tell you a bunch more about my adventures in the KND tomorrow. Sound fair?" Nigel reasoned.
"Okay!" She leapt off her father's lap and ran as fast as she could to her room, leaving the two alone.
"You do know that she's going to be even more thrilled to hear about the legendary Numbuh 1 and everything you've done now that she knows he's her father right?" Rachel questioned, raising an eyebrow at her husband.
"Come on Rachel, you've of all people know how dedicated I was to being an operative. No matter what happened to me, whether I failed a mission, or put my team or others in danger, I never gave up, nor left the Kids Next Door. I want her to not make the mistakes I've made in the past, and to be the best operative she can be." Nigel explained as he laid back down, putting the frame down on the nightstand by the bed. "I know honey, but I don't want her to live up to her father's name, to put expectations on herself because her father was one of the greatest operatives ever. I don't want her to put herself in danger." The blonde exasperated, laying on the chest of the bald Brit.
"You're right my love. It's just...being a father. I love her, I love you. I could never forgive myself if something happened to either of you. I just want her to know that no matter what happens, she can never disappoint either of us. She's still young, I don't want her to pressure herself or extend what she's capable of."
"You're an amazing father and person Nigel. You care about us and love us unconditionally. I'm so happy that I was able to confess to you that day, it killed me inside when you were with Lizzie, and it ate me up seeing you so sad after you broke up. Harboring those feelings all those years ago, I never thought I would be able to tell you. But when we did, I felt so happy, and even after we stayed together, I felt like it was a dream come true. I love you Nigel Uno, I always have." Rachel cried as she remembered the most important times in her life, the moment she realized that she had fallen for the Sector V leader, when they had both been chosen to be TND operatives, when they confessed to each other right in front of his sector and Numbuhs 60 and 86, who were all also TND operatives, the night they went to Prom, and especially their first night of love-making, and when Katherine was conceived. Their happiest moments came flooding back to Rachel, who shed tears of happiness, before she felt warm, strong hands caress her cheeks and wipe the tears away.
"You know it hurts me to see you cry, no matter the reason. I love you so much Rachel McKenzie, you've been with me and helped me like a true leader. You never once held me as a favorite and treated everyone as equals, and yet, after you stepped down, you still focused on your duties. You're smart, strong and organized. You were a fantastic leader and operative, but even more, you're an amazing mother and person. I've always loved you Rachel, even when I was with Lizzie, I never loved her as much as I love you. You are my divine flower, my reason to keep on living. I love everything you are, I love being a father, and I love our family." His blue eyes stared deep into her golden brown eyes, her blush reddened as she heard her lover put so much passion and emotion into his confession. No matter how many times he's said it, no matter how long they were together, it always warmed her heart to hear him say those words. As he cupped her face and kissed her with all the love he could muster, feeling their tongues battle for dominance, feeling their hot breaths on each every time they separated, they both knew their love would keep them together. Especially when Rachel came up on top of Nigel, legs on either side of him, straddling him, letting her blonde locks flow behind her. She eyed her husband lustfully, the nightgown hugging her curvaceous body tightly, glowing in the room barely lit by the moonlight through the blinds.
"How would you like to expand your family?" She tongued, letting her hands graze over her husband's bare chest, reaching his pant buckle.
"Are you sure you can handle-"
"That was an order soldier." The blonde interrupted him, cutting him off, keeping her eyes on him as she unbuckled his pants.
"Yes ma'am." He saluted, before grasping her hips and caressing her body, almost like a lost treasure. Nigel leaned up and grazed his wife's hair to the side, letting him inhale her scent on her neck, before lightly biting and sucking the skin, earning a gasp from the blonde. Rachel moaned, quickly grabbing the covers, and threw them over the couple, like a protective veil.
Under the covers, as Nigel made love to his wife, he knew he would do anything for his family, no matter how big it grew, no matter what happened, he would protect them and love them, he would give them everything. That's what true Father's do for their family.
End Transmission.
