Not everyone is created equal.

It was something he learned when he was four and was found to have another joint, which classified him as quirkless.

It was at this time when he saw the crying baby Deku getting a quirk of intensity on and glowing in green energy, like a twinkling star. Like All Might.

It was then that Bakugou Katsuki decided that neither fate nor anyone else would ever stop him.

Infinite training, sophisticated plans and lots of theory. He would get stronger and beat everyone, he just knew it. So sure, a quirk can help a lot in achieving these goals, but Bakugou Katsuki would not be Bakugou Katsuki if he had given up there. He was the best of them all, without a doubt.

Yeah, so what? When life gives you lemons, give them to others, to have them sour while you taste the sweet victory. Or spicy, better, in Katsuki's opinion.

He promised himself that he would be a hero no matter what.

Quirks were tools. A very useful tool, but not so much that without it you can't get along. Ah. Maybe someone else, but not Katsuki! The boy already knew then that if he wanted something strong, he would get it. How many times have people without any special talent for music become musicians? People who didnt know how to draw became famous artists and people who did not know how to raise children became parents. Ah. It just was unrelated. Hard work and determination will bring him to any destination that a quirk cannot.

Not everyone is created equal. But being 'created' is not enough. Every moment he will struggle and get better, because that is why people are created for.

Because what he learned at a young age, is that no one will be able to classify you under any label unless you let it happen. You are who you choose to be.

And he practiced, after all, he was a man of his word.

What annoyed him the most was that stupid and useless Deku. His friend dreamed so much of being a hero, just like Katsuki himself, and heck! He received a gift from fate itself, a power like that of All Might himself! And yet, all that baby did was just talk and dream, he never took any step to really achieve it, he seemed to just expect everything to fall on him from heaven.

Katsuki was so angry. He called him Deku, telling him that his name was exactly what he was; Useless. How does he want to achieve heights if he does nothing? The boy only imagined that he was a hero, as if a twig like him could save someone. Katsuki mocked him. He felt so much contempt for this child. His quirk may be strong, but Deku is weak.

So the blonde knew he would defeat him. Because he was strong. He made sure to show that he was strong, so that all the stupid extras knew it. He got into fights, went on heroic journeys in the woods, guided battles and rescues, and won. Always won.

All the kids always followed him, all the kids with their cool and silly quirks, everyone knew he was the leader, because it was just suing him. Deku also followed him with star eyes and 'Kacchan sugoii!' on his lips constantly. Everyone recognized his powers.

Katsuki believed he was on his way to proving to the whole world that he would be the number one hero. But then that stupid case happened. They were walking on the wooden bridge over the river, when it slipped and fell into the water, and Deku jumped up and ran to it, reaching out and trying to get him out of the river.

It was that exact moment that Katsuki realized, that no matter how much everyone knows he is the best, Deku looks down on him. The rage created a hole deep inside his stomach. The stupid Deku. The useless Deku who does not try again and again, who does not strive to get better — thinks he is better. He realized that is why the boy is not practicing, he is sure he can beat Katsuki and be number one without unnecessary efforts!

He forcibly moved his outstretched hand toward him, renewed anger flowing in his veins and directed at the green boy in front of him.

Their friendship has come to an end since then. He didn't want anything to do with the arrogant fool, he just wanted to get away from him.

But Deku intervened everywhere. In every battle that Katsuki won, Deku was there, trying to comfort and protect the loser. But for himself, he never used his quirk against Katsuki, as if Katsuki was unworthy of dirt, as if he was so weak that one didn't even have to use real power to defeat him.

It drove him crazy and he struggled and repeatedly proved to Deku that he was stronger. He would never underestimate him like that!

It's been like this for years. By the time he heard in class that Deku was going to try to get accepted to UA. The weak Deku, whose arms still looked like sticks stuck in the sides of his body, who always cringed and fearful of using the formidable force that always broke his limbs, made him burst into tears every time.

Deku, who had not trained for fourteen years and expected a miracle to happen to him at the last minute.

"I know I'm weak, Kacchan," the green boy murmured awkwardly, "but I have to try, you can't know until you try..."

Katsuki exhaled angrily at him, making it clear to him exactly what he was thinking, and picked up the nerd's notebook. For this, he wasted all the useless years? Stupid. He tore it in two, ignoring the cries of crying "No!" And threw from the window.

"If you so desperately want to get into UA, you can dive a swan dive from the roof and pray you will be born with physical ability in your next life!"

He boiled all that day, so much so that he didn't even notice his surroundings. This was the only reason he was caught under any guard by the sludge villain. He struggled with it for much longer than possible, while a crowd gathered around him. But he knew he couldn't trust anyone. All these extras that were with abilities and never took a step to help a child who was fighting for his life, let alone the heroes who were there, why did they even exist? Pathetic.

Well, he would have managed to break free on his own. He had already survived more than anyone who was in his place, he would have won. But then Deku popped up out of nowhere, ran towards him crying, mumbling something silly about his legs just moving by themselves, and suddenly All Might appear and defeated the villain in a matter of seconds.

The time after that flies faster. He avoids Deku, ignores him and walks away like a plague. He's tired of playing games, because that's what Deku does, everything for him is just a game. He's not serious about anything. Instead, he focused on training, because he wanted to succeed.

That's how the entrance exam came about. There were many kids who tried their luck. Some looked at him in confusion, some in pity, it did not matter to him. Why should he care about those extras, they would find out fast enough that a pity should be on them. Only the best are accepted. Like him.

These losers would rely too much on the quirks, and it honestly was so stupid. Some were with traits that didn't even really improve their abilities, like that weird girl with the hovering uniform, her quirk was invisibility, damn with everything if she managed to get in net with her physical abilities and he didn't.

There were no such shortages. Sincerely. Katsuki knew all about heroes and he knew there were heroes whose quirks didn't even really make them heroes. Like Eraserhead, his quirk only affects the others, he managed to become a hero only by hard work.

His mind was brilliant, and his physical condition was flawless. It was no surprise to anyone that he was accepted. And with the highest score of all examinees, no less.

Everyone else looked like they were playing cool gadgets and nothing more. How pathetic. As if they could win.

The studies were simple. The training was instantaneous. Everything was under control. There were students who teased him or shouted insults at him in the corridors, angry that a quirkless had beaten them in the rankings, but it did not matter. He just had to ignore the nonsense of the extras and everything was fine.

The famous sports festival was approaching, and he just promised himself that he would do it. He would prove to the world that he won his place at the top of class A-1 of all.

Only with resourcefulness and willpower, he did go through every challenge that life gave him. He won each one of the silly battles, everyone relied so much on their power that they forgot about their shortcomings, they forgot to build plans with brains.

Like that girl with gravity, who was just trying to smash a pile of rocks on his head, without even realizing what could have happened. Katsuki used his skills, adrenaline flowing in his arteries as he stretched the muscles of his legs, jumping and navigating his way between and above them, stepping out of the danger zone beneath them and causing the girl to fly herself in baseless performance.

Or that Copycat, that all he could do was copy other people's quirks. Imagine the surprise on his goofy face when he failed to achieve anything. Katsuki wanted to laugh, but he just kicked him physically, not even excessively, out of bounds.

Everything was fine, until that half 'n' half bastard decided that Katsuki was not worth his time. If of pity, if of laziness, did he think he could go for half of his power and win? Cheeky fool. Katsuki raged. He wanted a fair fight. He wanted a real battle that would prove to himself and everyone that he was better. How can he do that when the bastard refuses to show all his strength?

But he had no option but to demand it. He couldn't demand anything, after Midnight faint him with her quirk. They made sure to knock him down and neutralize him like he was a wild animal, it was insane, it was so absurd that he wanted to laugh at the irony, and cry at the same time, maybe it was a panic attack. It didn't matter, because what were these said heroes trying to do by tying a child against his will and forcing him to accept a reward he didn't want? Did they want to convey a message that the rights and privacy of the individual should not be considered?

But it was good, he later assumed, that everyone would see how much they were afraid of a simple person without even a quirk.

In the internship proposals that came later, he chose the Jeanist. After all, he was the number four hero, and Katsuki should have gotten used to the splendor of life at the summit, right? But the Jeanist was just a big disappointment, a hypocritical hero. The only thing that interested him was the exterior, the shell. Katsuki didn't like such people. He also did not like that the hero forced him into clothes and behavior that he didn't feel comfortable in. The man wanted to change him, to change everything that made him be him. As if the real Katsuki was someone who didn't deserve to exist.

That whole week was unnecessary and Katsuki came out with the clear conclusion that if he wanted to be a hero, he would do it his way.

The next step was the training camp. A place that was supposed to be secure, as always, but the villains attacked. More than that, they kidnapped him and handcuffed him in exactly the same way his damn school did. After that, they dared to offer him to join them. Even the trash of humanity sees the raw potential it had, obviously, couldn't have been. But as if he had ever betrayed the ideal he had set and the goal he had set for himself. If it had happened, it would have been a mistake, a waiver, a failure. And Bakugou Katsuki was not a loser.

The blond boy knew it was a heroes course, the only question was why the hell was he always the one that all the trouble actually drained on him? Because against all logic, despite all those times he proved himself, he failed the test and didn't get his hero's license. It was surreal, he didn't even believe, fate had to laugh at him! Well, everyone can just go to hell. He worked harder, went to the remedial courses and made sure to set himself a healthy and strict agenda. Sooner or later, probably sooner, he will correct this little mistake and return to being the brightest star above them all.

Because that was what he was doing. Going up and up.

That was his life, and that's how he chose. So fate can continue to throw challenges and difficulties at him. He will defeat the impossible and become the best number one hero the world has ever seen!

Because it was true.

Not everyone was created equal. Bakugou Katsuki was just better.

A/N: One day I just thought to myself, Deku for years held on to the dream of becoming a hero, but he didn't really try to achieve it, he just waited for a miracle...(which really happened to him, but he could not trust it.) And I just thought, what if the situation was upside down? Was Bakugou being bullied because of it? And the answer is this story.

I hope you enjoyed, I dont know if I success to convey all the feelings and thoughts I wanted, but I hope it came out clear and interesting.

I would love to hear your opinion! Thanks for reading!
