"I believe this is your area of expertise," Detective Horne told Fred and the rest of the gang – Shaggy, Scooby-Doo, Daphne, and Velma.
On the table where Fred and the gang were gathered were pictures taken from security cameras of a man with a third eye above his forehead and of a man with a horn protruding from his forehead. The pictures were from last night. The gang and Detective Horne gathered in the clubhouse behind Fred's home.
"The three-eyed man robbed a bank of all its money while the man with the horn protruding from his forehead robbed a grocery store of all its food," Detective Horne explained.
"Gang, we have a mystery to solve," Fred announced. "Do you have any witness reports and any evidence?"
"Here are witness reports of the grocery clerk and closing manager," Detective Horne answered. "If you want to return to the crime scenes, I'd like to warn you ahead of time of the smell of metallic, coppery scent mixed with rotting eggs that lingered at the crime scene."
"A gas line could be leaking, thus the smell," Velma said.
"We've checked for gas leaks and found nothing is leaking," the detective replied. "The two robbers disappeared into the alleys adjacent to the locations that were robbed. Is that all?"
Fred nodded and escorted Detective Horne out of the club house. When Fred returned, Velma was on her laptop.
"Fred, I would like to stay here and do some research," Velma announced. "I have a hunch I want to test."
Fred nodded. "Daphne and I can stop by the alleyway by the bank, so we can determine how the monster disappeared. Shaggy and Scooby, can you stop by the alleyway by the grocery store?"
"Like, no way, man," Shaggy replied. "I don't want to be attacked by that monster again."
"We're running low on bottled water and various snacks. Why not you and Scooby buy some water and snacks and check out the alleyway by the grocery store afterwards?"
"No way, man."
"Will you both do it for a chocolate covered Scooby Snack?"
"Reah," Scooby barked, salivating.
That evening, the gang gathered in the clubhouse behind Fred's house.
"I believe I have uncovered something," Velma announced.
Velma connected her laptop the projector and turned on the projector. She pulled up a webpage on Susan's Paranormal Website.
"This website says by burning blood of a virgin, monsters from the other world can be summoned," Velma explained. "When you burn blood, you get that metallic, coppery smell."
"That rotting eggs smell must be escaping sewer gas because there was a manhole in the alleyway," Fred added. "The monsters were likely summoned in the sewer down below."
"Scooby and I found a manhole as well," Shaggy replied.
"Did the page tell us how we can defeat the monsters?" Daphne asked.
"We would need arrows doused in the blood of someone who enjoys sex," Velma explained. "I have phlebotomist training, so I can collect the blood. We just need some arrows."
"My dad and I are archers, and I can spare some of my arrows," Daphne replied.
"We need someone as bait to lure the monsters," Fred added.
"No ray," Scooby barked.
"Not going to happen," Shaggy added.
"Relax," Fred replied. "I'm the bait."
The rest of the gang looked at Fred in shock.
"The monsters seem to be targeting locations in wealthy neighborhoods," Fred explained. "My uncle owns a Mercedes Benz dealership in town and is likely the next target. Since it is my family's dealership, I should be the bait."
"Is there an alleyway nearby?" Velma asked.
"No, but there was a new manhole installed a couple yards away from the dealership," Fred answered. "Daphne, shoot to kill."
The next day, the gang gathered outside Fred's uncle's dealership. The two monsters arrived and started moving to a silver Mercedes Benz. Daphne shot an arrow stopping the three-eyed monster in its track and turning it to ashes. The monster who had the horn protruding from its forehead roared.
"My mistress will not be pleased," the remaining monster announced.
"Take us to her," Fred demanded.
"She will be hosting a news conference tonight at town hall."
"Daphne, don't shoot. Let him go."
That evening, a dark-haired woman who wore a dark robe stood at the top of the stairs in front of town hall and held a microphone. Fred and the gang stood behind the news vans parked in front of town hall out of sight.
"My name is Jessica Crystal," the woman announced. "I'm your new mayor."
"What happened to Mayor Olderham?" one reporter asked.
"I paid him $50,000 to step down and retire," Jessica answered. "My goal is to summon my monsters and eliminate the wealthy. Aragon, Seamus, come forward."
The monster with the protruding horn from his forehead stepped out from the shadows.
"Where is Aragon?" Jessica asked.
"I'm sorry, but he had been killed in combat," Seamus replied.
Just then, Daphne fired an arrow. Seamus jumped in front of Jessica, took the arrow meant for her, and turned to ashes. Jessica roared only to be met with an arrow to her forehead and dropped dead. The news reporters watched in shocked silence.
"That's how you do it," Fred said, causing the news reporters to turn around and putting them on the spot. "Detective Horne asked us to investigate Jessica because that's our area of specialty. Daphne shot the arrows."
"Maybe one of them can be mayor," a news reporter quipped.
"Well, I'd vote for Fred," Daphne said.
"Yeah," the rest of the gang echoed.
The news reporters swarmed around Fred and the gang. Fred only wanted some time alone and excused himself.
A week later, Fred officially became Coolsville's mayor. Velma became Fred's IT person, Daphne became Fred's secretary, and Shaggy became Fred's chef. Scooby became the gang's companion.
