(A/N) WE ARE AT WAR!
Prompt: Leo Valdez; Cheese; 'It's hunting time, boys'; 'Your opinion is invalid'
"Guys, we have a problem." Leo said to the group in front of him, which consisted of Percy, Nico, Annabeth, and Piper. They were all sitting at the edge of the forest, relaxing in the shade.
The child of Athena only narrowed her eyes. "Is the camp being attacked, or did you and the Stoll brothers piss off Ares cabin again with one of your stupid pranks."
"The only thing attacking us is a demon. It's been haunting the camp for the past week now."
"I think I would've noticed a demon hanging around." Nico pointed out.
"It ain't your regular demon. We are being haunted by a...cheese demon."
Everyone stared at the mechanic. The girls both sighed before collectively pinching the bridges of their noses.
Piper spoke up, completely exasperated."Leo. How-why-how did you come to that conclusion?"
"Something's been stealing my cheese. But that's not it. The demon's been spelling out weird messages in cheese whiz on my pillow every night."
Percy leaned over to Piper and muttered in her ear, "That's a real Aoyama move, there. Maybe he's got an admirer."
The daughter of Aphrodite snickered, ignoring everyone else's questioning looks.
"Leo, are you sure it's not a weird prank someone's pulling?" Annabeth asked. She just looked...so done with this crap.
"Of course. I'm not the only person who's had their cheese stolen. And Rachel told me that there was a sack of Babybels left in front of her cave the other day with an ominous note attached. If that doesn't sound like the work of a cheese demon, I don't know what does." Leo said it with the straightest face, not even one glint of humor present in his eyes. He said it so seriously that Percy almost believed him.
Piper and Annabeth once again looked at each other, silently conversing with their eyes.
"Fine. There's a cheese demon roaming the camp. What do you wanna do about it?" Piper asked, choosing to indulge the teen.
"I say we track it down and exorcise it."
Nico rolled his eyes. "Or I could always talk to it and make it attack you."
Leo gasped in fake shock. "You're all turning against me. But seriously, we need to find this cheese demon. It's hunting time, boys."
"And girls." The
"Of course, Beauty Queen."
"If we really are going to something incredibly stupid like this, shouldn't we at least tell Chiron? I don't want any of you idiots hurting yourself and then I have to explain to him and Mr. D why we were out in the first place."
"Annabeth is right. This is incredibly stupid."
"Your opinion is invalid, Nico." The Hispanic boy shot back. "Anyways, I already prepared some gear for us. I also set up some traps last night."
Percy looked alarmingly excited for the 'demon' hunting. "What kind of traps?"
"I set out crackers and cheese and laid down hidden nets. I also set up jars of Greek fire activated by a trip-wire."
"Yeah, 'cause that'll totally catch a demon." Annabeth remarked, rolling her eyes. "C'mon Piper, there's dagger training we have to teach with Ares cabin."
The two girls left, and Leo shouted at their retreating backs, "Fine, abandon our noble quest to hunt the monstrous cheese demon. Don't come crying to me if you end up with cheese whiz on your pillow tonight!"
After the class, the two girls headed back to the forest to check on the boys. And you could say they were surprised by what they found.
Two of Leo's traps had been activated. One of the nets held both Leo and Percy, while the other held...the Stoll twins.
Nico simply stood off to the side, laughing so hard he had to clutch at his sides.
"What's going on here?" Annabeth yelled, only drawing the attention of Nico.
The younger teen stumbled over to the girls, still laughing, although it has lessened to a more controlled giggle.
"Oh, you shoulda seen their faces-"
"So were the Stoll twins the 'cheese demons?'" Piper asked.
Nico smirked at them. "No. They joined Percy and Leo a little while ago. Apparently they were also being terrorized by this 'demon.'"
"So we still don't know who's been stealing peoples' cheeses?" Annabeth wrinkled her nose at the weirdness of the question. She hoped to never utter those words again.
"Me," Nico answered, his smirk growing even wider. "I just wanted to screw with some people."
Annaebth and Piper, for the millionth time that day, rolled their eyes at each other and sighed. Gods have mercy on them.
