Long, long ago...there was a peaceful land called Gallowmere.
It was ruled by an old and wise and much beloved king. The people were happy, why even the children were polite, and war was not heard of in the land. But..., not everything was sunshine and daisies to everyone. An royal court sorcerer, Zarok, hated the tranquility and wanted to overthrow the kingdom. Behind the king's back, he began to dabble with dark magic, which was forbidden, experimenting with the dead.
Eventually, King Peregrin found out about the sorcerer's doings. Furiously outraged, by the sorcerer's actions, he had Zarok banished from the kingdom and sent him to the wilderness. Seething with undeniable rage, Zarok vowed that one day he will return.
On one fateful day, came a peculiar young lad, whose hair was dark like a raven, and surprisingly had strikingly good looks, except on account that he had goofy and very bad teeth, Daniel Fortesque.
He approached the king and bestowed upon him his gift of storytelling to him. He told the king some of his dangerous and perilous adventures, like how he slayed a dragon with one mighty blow from his sword, or how he managed to scare and run off a horde of bandits by persuading them that there was a deadly plague in the village. That one was the kings favorite. King Peregrin loved his stories and the tales of Daniel's heroics so much, that he knighted Daniel and made him in charge of his royal guard. Eventually, everyone throughout the land began to hear of his bravery. Everything was going Dan's way as he rapidly began to climb his way up to fame.
After gaining what he had always wanted, Daniel should have felt proud of it. He was loved and respected by everyone. But, instead, all he could feel was guilt.
For he had one problem: he have never been in a fight in his entire life.
