A/N: I decided I would change things up a bit in this fanfic and switched roles with Ace, Sabo and Luffy. Luffy is the son of Gol D Roger and Portgas D. Rouge. Ace is the son of Monkey D. Dragon with his twin Sabo. They also happen to have been adopted and ran away from high town as former 'nobles' when they were 5.
Third pov
Ace and Sabo were only eight the first time they saw him, he looked no older than the age of 5. He had big round innocent eyes but seemed a little to thin for his age, but that was covered up by the t-shirt we wore as it seemed far to big. He also wore a straw hat.
Both boys shared a glance when they spotted the little boy staring at them. At first they just came to grey terminal so they could get materials to build a treehouse and escape their crazy grandfather. Ace and Sabo shared a silent conversation deciding it was best if they ignore him.
The twins came back the next day to find the same boy as they saw yesterday watching them like a hawk. They decided to ignore it again but after a while the boy started wondering closer to them, annoying Ace.
"What do you want?!" Ace shouted annoyed at the raven headed kid following them. The boy seemed surprised that they talked to him and instantly smiled.
"Hi my names Luffy, who might you be?" He young boy asked the older two with the biggest grin Sabo and Ace have ever seen. Ace was annoyed by the way the boy spoke and instantly lashed out on him.
"Who do you think you are some noble?!" Ace shouted at the boy, making the boy shrink a little in his spot. He seemed so small the way he looked right now, than again he did seem quite small even for his age.
"Ace calm down he only introduced himself the best way he knows how." Sabo spoke calmly but also felt a bit nervous with the idea in mind this kid could have noble blood in him. Disgusting noble blood that Ace and Sabo didn't want to go near.
"Yeah well I don't like it and I don't like you!" He said pointing a finger at the younger child. Ace wasn't being reasonable here but if Ace didn't like they boy than neither did Sabo.
They walked away with little materials just wanting to get away from the boy but in stead of the kid giving up like they thought he would he folllowed them. Ace and Sabo realised this and started running, they lost him in the first 5 minutes, possible it was even 2.
This continued for weeks Ace and Sabo being followed them yelling that the boy saying rude things before taking of leaving the boy alone for a few seconds before he chases after them, getting a little father each time.
Ace and Sabo not wanting their treehouse to be spotted turned the wrong direction and lost sight of the boy when the climbed a high tree.
After an hour they came down, only to find the little boy again. The tree they climbed was there treasure stash tree and it seems the kid overheard their conversation.
"Hey you guys wanna be Pirates! I'm a pirate too!" He shouted confusing the twins. They made there way down the tree and instantly knew what to do to stop him from giving their treasure spot away.
"We gotta kill him" Ace spoke bluntly as Sabo nodded. To their surprise the kid didn't even flinch or cry at their decision.
Before much more could happen they heard a mans voice. "I heard kids this way!" He shouted most likely to some other thieves or thugs.
Sabo and Ace grabbed Luffy picking him up by his baggy T-shirt holding him up by it, and running away to hide in a bush.
"Are you sure it was them?!" One of the thieves shouted to the others.
"Yeah. Everyone knows them around here, Ace and Sabo. We're ashamed that we got the money stolen, we let our guard down." One of the thugs that Bluejam hired or was apart and f the crew said as it was unknown to Ace and Sabo.
"Shit! Thats Porchemy! I didn't know those guys were working with Bluejam crew!" Ace cursed under his breath before Sabo went to speak.
"Hey..Uh..Ace?" Sabo asked with hesitation. "What?" Ace questioned annoyed. "Where's Luffy..?"
As Sabo said that they heard a voice "Let me go! Hey put me down!" Luffy yelled at the older man holding him.
"HOW DID HE GET CAUGHT?!" Sabo and Ace whisper yelled. "Ace! Help! Sabo help!
"That idiot!" Ace grumbled even more annoyed now than he was before.
Porchemy said something but it was unheard by Sabo and Ace as hey were discussing a way to move the treasure before Bluejam crew scone back once Luffy blurts everything out.
At least they thought he would.
It was now nearly night another hour and the sun will be gone from the horizon.
"Sabo are they there yet? Looking for us?" Ace questioned Sabo as the other boy regained his breath.
"That's the thing. There still looking for us!" Sabo said as realisation hit his face.
They ran as fast as they could hunting around grey terminal for were they could have possibly taken him.
They soon burst though a badly build hut- that seemed someone might've been living in it before it was taken over- to see Luffy tied to the roof with a rope around the his lower stomach. He looked like shit, just dangling there covered in blood gashes still weeping open and it seemed his stomach took the largest beating. Ace and Sabo felt as though they expulsion see his insides, in which they could. They felt like vomiting at the sight where f the broken boy, it could make even the toughest stomachs want to regurgitate what they had for breakfast.
Sabo and Ace had three conclusions, he was either dead, unconscious or the weak to move. They hoped it was either of the last two as they felt bad for their selfishness. Really bad.
Sabo grabbed Luffy down as Ace distracted the other man, Porchemy from attacking the other two.
"Ace let's go, I got him!" Sabo said adjusting Luffy to a less uncomfortable position. "I never back down from fights!" Ace shot back digging a blow from Porchemy. "We stand no chance and unless you want to very person we came here for to die. We need to go. Now!" Sabo said in a hurry. Ace thought for a moment before turning towards Sabo. "Let's go!" Ace said quickly as they fled from the scene as fast as they arrived.
"He needs medical attention! Let's take him to Foosha village. Makino will be able to help!" Ace spoke as Sabo nodded in agreement. "How about the bandits?" Sabo questioned after a minute. "Who cares. They want us dead anyway." Ace spoke the unwanted truth.
They arrived at the village in record time banging on makinos door. Unfortunately, no one was home. They ran to the mayor wood slaps house, the door opened to a grumpy looking mayor.
"Help him! Please!"
Makinos pov
Shanks was at makinos bar with the rest of his crew when he heard the news.A boy had been brought ti the mayors house by Ace and Sabo - friends of Makinos - late last night. Makino hadn't had the chance to go see if they were alright, and was worried.
"How bout you go see what happened, I'll come with ya? How 'bout it?" Shanks asked trying to cheer his wife up.
(Shanks and Makino had been married for 2 years now, that's why Shanks stops by all the time to see how she's doing. Not only her but also a little kid who he takes on adventures with him sometimes. Who he happened to adopt, therefore it's more like makinos and Shanks child. Is there child. Just not by blood.)
She agreed oviously worried, she might not even knew the kid that has been hurt but it was all in her nature to care. Especially if Ace and Sabo brought the kid in, they usually stick with doing it themselves.
They arrived walking hand in hand to Mayor wood slaps house only letting go when knocking.
"What do you wa- oh! Makino it's just you." Calming down after seeing the young woman. "Yeah I was curious about the boy that was brought in here last night." Makino said kindly as the mayor sighed. "He was taken into surgery. Would've came out of it a few hours ago, we tried asking Ace and Sabo what happened but could get no answers out of them." The mayor said leaving out a mayor detail about the kid.
"Do you know where he is now?" Shanks asked worried for the poor kid just as much as Makino was.
"Yeah, actually Ace and Sabo said they were taking down to yours left a few minutes before you arrived." The mayor said and Makino vowed thanking him for the information before her and Shanks rushed to the bar once again.
Worried was shown on both their faces once they entered the bar and was met with the innocent face of none other then Gol D. Luffy sitting on a stool beside the counter surrounded by Yassop and Benn that were asking about what happened getting no luck of an answer out of him.
"Luffy!" Makino and Shanks shouted eyes wide in fear and worry. They rushed over to him as Makino checked him down as well as bringing the 5 year old into a soft hug. "What happened to you? Did someone hurt you? Are you okay?" Makino asked the same questions the surrounding crew had been asking before.
Ace and Sabo stared at Luffy Makino and Shanks in wonder. Curious how they all knew each other.
"Lu, what happened?" Shanks asked looking at all the bandages wrapped around his body. All he got was a pouty luffy who was holding his tears back. The couples heart shatttered looking at the boy, he looked so small. Makino had been very worried after Shabks and Luffy had a small fight over Shanks being cool, it was a stupid thing to fight over but Luffy ended up running into the forest and not returning till now all beat up and cut here run bandages.
"Lu, pease we won't get mad we're just worried" Makino stated softly as she picked him up he hurried his face in her neck, as she felt warm tears fall into her shoulder, wetting the clothes she was wearing but she didn't care.
Shanks came and took Luffy of Makino as she gave her husband a questioning look, shanks only smiled in return making her blush before she looked away embarrassed.
"How 'bout I tell you about the time before we became a family?" Shanks said getting a questioning look from Makino and Luffy.
"How me and your mother met." Shanks said earning a huge smile from Luffy.
"Really? How you met?!" Luffy exclaimed excited.
"Yup!" Shanks stated sharing a knowing look with his wife before telling him about the time his drunken self decided he would randomly walk into someone's house in the middle of the night and ended up getting punched in the face by a frightened Makino.
