Marinette looked at the boy in front of her. The one who deserved the world but chose her. He had been akumatized because of her and he didn't deserve it. Her altar ego defeated his villainous form, of course, though that wasn't much of an apology more than it was an obligation. She couldn't express how much she wanted to be forgiven, she never knew how bad this was going to get.
Marinette took a deep breath, he was practically begging for the truth and he deserved it. She needed to get over Adrien and while it felt like a disservice to Chat Noir, she still took Luka's hand. The truth was something she had sworn to never be spoken on her lips but here she was. She felt like a hypocrite, she constantly told Chat how they could never reveal their identities under any circumstance and she was about to break that biggest rule.
"Where are we going?" Luka asked as Marinette dragged him away from the houseboat.
"I'm showing you where I always go, I'm telling you the truth," Marinette told him.
Luka wanted to believe her but maybe he had been lied to so many times that a part of him didn't. Not only that Marinette looked like she might have a panic attack at any moment. He had learned too much with Jagged Stone being his father, with hearing how Marinette was in love with Adrien Agreste, he really just wanted to go to bed and forget about this dreadful day altogether. Ignoring his headache he followed Marinette hoping this wasn't some game to her.
Luka was fine if she was in love with Adrien, he knew she was, but he just wanted to hear it from her now. He knew it would shatter part of him but he wanted to truth and if it was as simple as that he guessed he would take it, although he would never quite believe that to be the only thing Marinette was 'hiding' from him.
"You come to a dark alley when you want to get away from me?" Luka asked as Marinette pulled him around the corner.
"No, but you can't tell anyone what I'm about to tell you."
"I promise," he says and Marinette can only hope he is telling the truth.
Another ragged breath was taken by Marinette. In and out. She could do this. Focusing solely on her breathing, she closed her eyes. She counted to three in her head before saying the words: "Tikki, spots on."
"You're Ladybug?" Luka said, sounding stupid now, nobody would expecting clumsy Marinette, it made her a perfect candidate. Always running late or running away when a villain showed up.
Ladybug didn't answer, it was pretty clear she stood in the place Marinette had stood. Her eyes scanned his for any sort of emotion, looked at his face for any reaction, he was blank. This worried her more, was he that opposed to this? She felt her breathing becoming ragged as she thought about the endless negative outcomes, she never should have done this.
Ladybug, Luka still couldn't think. He was technically in love with Ladybug. Part of him still couldn't believe the personality clash, shy, cautious, and clumsy Marinette didn't remind him of Ladybug. He did suppose they were both noble and honest people, and both brave. They were more similar the more he thought about it.
How many famous people did he know? His father is Jagged Stone, Marinette is Ladybug, Adrien is a world-known model with an even more famous father. He couldn't really cut himself out either as he was Viperion. If Marinette was Ladybug that meant he probably had a high chance of knowing Chat Noir as a civilian too.
"Does Chat Noir know who you are? Do you know who he is?" Luka finally asked.
"No, you're the first one to know my identity. I don't know his identity and I don't think anyone else does," Ladybug answers.
"Well, if you ever need Viperion you can always count on me," it's a promise. Luka would promise his world for Marinette.
"I can't Luka, it's too dangerous when Hawkmoth knows your identity."
"I just want to be able to protect you."
Ladybug really wanted to tell him no, but a part of her needed to make up for the months of lying. Another permanent superhero couldn't be a bad thing especially when she was very busy being the guardian. Viperion also had an incredible power that could be useful in many situations, she trusted Luka to use it wisely.
"Wait here," Ladybug frowned at her compliance.
Grabbing the bracelet that Luka was already familiar with, Sass was already happy to be allowed to go into the world again. While all the kwami's agreed a miracle box was a wonderful little place, the Earth was large and ever-changing.
"It's always him," Ladybug heard a few of her other kwami's grumble.
"You'll all get great owners one day but today is Sass' day," Ladybug promised.
"Luka Couffaine, the miraculous of the snake, you will use it for the greater good, and if used with good intent, you will not have to return it," Ladybug recited as if she had done so a thousand times.
"Thank you," Luka said, "for trusting me."
His words meant more than he could say. He was thanking her for the truth more than anything.
Ladybug's yoyo buzzed signaling another akuma.
"Seems like we're just in time too," Ladybug gives a small smile, "another akuma is out there."
"Sass, scales slither!" Luka shouted.
"It's good to have you back Viperion."
"I'll always be by your side Ladybug," it was a promise and not one that would soon be broken.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I'm lucky to have you," Marinette smiled and looked up at her boyfriend.
They were cuddling on the couch while watching a movie. Both were tired from the long events of the day. The outcome made sure neither of them regretted it.
"You deserved the second chance," Luka said with a smirk.
"Yes, I was very lucky for my second chance," Marinette said with a small giggle.
"I'm lucky to have you," Luka agreed.
Lady luck and her snake now with a second chance. Both felt lucky to have their second chance at love.
