AN: Usagi and Mamoru are aged up to be married, and they live ordinary lives, except for Chibiusa somewhat keeping her backstory. This is my first time writing an AU, so a helpful critique is appreciated! I hope you enjoy it!

Usagi

Usagi was coming home after a tiring day of work and school. Getting a Bachelor's degree and working a part-time job would tire a girl out, especially ones who would rather stay home and play video games.

Luckily for her, some of her teachers seemed to be slacking off with giving out schoolwork. Though her boss at work still nagged her as always.

She was happy to go to Mamoru's place, a small "luxury condo," where she could hopefully take a little break and maybe get some sweets too, she thought.

When she arrived, she gladly opened the door, took her shoes off and wiped down her outfit. She was wearing a dress suit that made her look professional, or at least, so she thought. It was a bit uncomfortable on her since she had been wearing it for the whole day, but that should not be much of a problem now that she was here and could change into some comfy PJs, perhaps the ones with the cute bunnies on them. It was likely that she and Chibiusa were going to stay the night anyway. Though she's a full-grown adult, Usagi still has a childish personality, which she doesn't particularly mind.

She was expecting to hear the TV. To see Mamoru at the door to greet her affectionately. But none of that was happening. She wandered further into the home and to the dining room and kitchen area. Mamoru was there, but instead of a hug or a kiss, she got a distant look.

"Mamo?" She greeted.

"Usagi... I want a divorce." He replied.

"W-wait, what?" Mamoru usually used the pet name Usako, as did Usagi with Mamo, but for a statement like this, it made sense that Mamoru wanted to seem earnest. Nonetheless, Usagi felt completely blindsided; she had no idea what provoked this. "Mamo– What do you mean? Has something happened?" Usagi asked desperately.

"I mean what I said– I want a divorce," Mamoru responds. "Don't make this harder than it needs to be."

"Is it me? Did I do something wrong? Did you change? D-did you find someone new?" Usagi asks hesitantly.

"That's none of your business. Here are the papers. Please have them signed by Friday." Mamoru says.

"Papers?" Usagi was getting very concerned now. "I-I'm going to leave now–" She declared, still utterly confused about what had just happened.

Chibiusa

Chibiusa's day had been fine. The whole week had been fine. She had gone to school, had a math test (which she got a 98% on), and played with her friends at recess. After school, she usually went home with Mamoru, where she studied and relaxed by watching some TV, reading books or playing games. Today, she was doing the latter and playing a card game.

She heard the door open and figured that Usagi had come home. She wasn't too invested in her card game but still interested enough to keep going and not to greet Usagi immediately. She heard some shuffling, probably walking, and then a brief moment of conversation between Usagi and Mamoru. Though she knew eavesdropping was disrespectful, she still couldn't help but overhear the conversation, even as the volume slowly turned down. At the beginning of the conversation, Mamoru had seemed a bit irritated. By the end, he was talking in a calm voice. But Chibiusa didn't like what he was saying.

I want a ...,

What do you mean? ...

A divorce?!

It was at this point that the conversation had Chibiusa fully invested. Unfortunately, at this point, they (mostly Mamoru) were speaking in hushed voices, and all she could overhear after was Usagi saying something along the lines of "I'm leaving!" and leaving the condo. After all this, Chibiusa was more than worried. Didn't a divorce mean that they wouldn't be together like Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion? More importantly, why? What's going on? Was there something Chibiusa wasn't aware of or, was Usagi's sudden leave caused by the utter shock?

AN: Thanks for reading! I will be continuing this story, so please stay around for Chapter 2!
