A/N: Every now and then, I surprise myself. In my first Supergirl story, I mentioned that I would do either idea A or idea B. Well, I'm choosing idea C! I'm writing this chapter while the phone, internet, and TV are down. I read a neat story on AO3 and while I can't view it right now, it featured a character I would like to write about named George Lockwood.

Of course, George Lockwood doesn't exist as a character in this fandom given Season 4 mentioned Ben Lockwood way more often. As much as I would like this to be a multi-chapter story, it's a one-shot. The reason is because, well, the phone, internet, and TV are down. So let's go swinging for the fences.

Disclaimer: I do not own Supergirl. I only own the three original characters, one of which does not make an appearance.

George Lockwood was no stranger to dangerous situations. Before he became known as the son of an anti-alien terrorist, George was present at both the Daxamite Invasion and that freak earthquake that seemed to come out of nowhere. He was at school at the time and a desk almost made contact with his skull. If his teacher hadn't shoved him out of the way, George suspected he would be dead. On February 14, 2019, George took part in slashing an alien's head off and leading his father out of prison. He even took part in a raid with Children of Liberty members. They had located aliens sheltering at Al's Dive Bar and Charlie was one of them. His father praised him for helping weasel the aliens out of hiding, but George didn't feel happy about the events that transpired out there.

George realized that those four adrenaline-filled events didn't hold a candle to the present situation he found himself in, which was a mugging. In retrospect, walking home alone might not have been the best decision, even if there wasn't an alleyway near him. One minute, he had been walking home alone, oblivious to crime-populated streets. The next, he was face first on the cement ground, a body on top of him.

"Your dad isn't the only baddie out there," the man said as he pushed George's face deeper into the ground.

Craning his neck, George saw that his assailant had black hair and a look of arrogance and smugness in his fuscous eyes. Biting his lip in an effort to gain mental strength, George kicked his legs out at the assailant. Nothing appeared to happen and the man slammed George's face into the ground once more.

"I don't want to kill you, kid. Now Ben Lockwood on the other hand…"

George saw red while on the ground and tried to free himself once again. He didn't get very far as the man slugged him in the face and George saw stars swimming. He saw his vision in his right eye disappear with the next punch.

"Isn't it past your bedtime?" a female voice called out.

The man's hold loosed significantly as he removed himself from George Lockwood. He and George turned to see a woman about ten feet away dressed in a blue catsuit, her slick black hair falling down to her shoulders. In both hands was some sort of blue energy, in all likelihood the same energy George saw her hold when he participated in the raid at Al's Dive Bar.

"Dreamer!" the man greeted jovially. "A pleasure to meet you. I was just leaving." He evaded Dreamer's blast and hightailed out of the area, knowing he did not have the means to take on a superhero at the moment.

Dreamer shook off her disappointment that the assailant got away and faced the victim, whom she recognized to be George Lockwood. "You're safe now, kid."

George could only nod, his thoughts running at almost Mach 2. He had heard Dreamer's speech and been inspired to help his friend, Charlie. She looked every bit like the kind and courageous woman who often kicked fear's [censored]. To meet the person who had convinced him to choose a better path was something he didn't expect to witness in his lifetime. "Hey, Dreamer," he called out right before she was about to leave. "I'm sorry my father tried to arrest you."

Dreamer nodded and thanked him, knowing how sincere and sorry George was about his father's actions.

"Also, thank you. Not for rescuing me, although I am thankful for that, but for giving that interview. I'm walking a better path because of you. Someone actually adopted me."

"I'm glad. Well, I'm going back on duty. Take care," Dreamer said as she raised a hand and walked out of the area in the opposite direction George's assailant headed.

George stared down at the ground and listened as Dreamer's footsteps became quieter and quieter and until he couldn't hear her footsteps any longer. He had refrained from glancing at Dreamer as she walked off, knowing he would stare and soak in her beauty. Eventually, George returned home and his foster father, Alberto Kinney greeted him. Alberto Kinney looked just like Al at Al's Alien Bar, only Alberto was chubbier and had a different accent. Not to mention that Alberto Kinney was loaded financially.

"Looks like you were mugged," Alberto commented in his thick German accent as he headed to the fridge, grabbed a bag of frozen peas and tossed it to George. "How did you manage?"

"Dreamer saved my life," George confessed as he applied ice to his black eye. "If she hadn't, this would be a lot worse."

Alberto nodded as he grabbed an ice cream pint and a spoon. He opened the ice cream top and slid the carton over to his foster son, not saying anything as he watched George alternate between eating and applying ice to his eye. Scenarios ran through his head and Alberto decided that George should be prepared for the next time an event like this were to happen. "Your sister can teach you how to defend yourself. Just ask her when you are ready to begin and be prepared to work hard."

George nodded, believing his foster dad was looking out for him and his best interests. He didn't do that good in the fight and Dreamer had to rescue him. While that was nice, George knew he needed to take control of his life and he couldn't do that if he didn't know how to defend himself. Tomorrow, George was going to learn to fight.

A/N: This turned out to be a good length for a one-shot. I might continue on with my one-shots until I decide which story idea to write. I hope you enjoyed this story and I'll see you next time.
