Heatherfield, a peaceful city that many loved to consider home. While not packed to the brim with people due to its small size and its main access being a large bridge, there were other ways to enter the place. An entourage of colorful men and women walked into a seemingly abandoned warehouse. Everyone took seats on crates, some pulled out chairs and a woman used a forklift for herself. Time started to pass yet none dared to voice their displeasure for waiting, at least just yet. One wrong move would cost them their lives, and they knew it before the entrance opened.

In walked a handsome, tall British, slim man with his black hair slicked backwards, a bushy mustache covering his upper lip. Looking every part the English gentleman, he showed the others a friendly smile with big teeth. For the meeting he wore a stylish outfit: a double-breasted gray vest, matching dress pants, a black shirt, a pink tie, brown dress shoes and a pink leather jacket. Said jacket came with six unbuckled belts around the torso and white stars on the arms and one on each shoulder. On his right hand he carried an ebony cane with a silver pummel shaped like a leaping lion.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is a pleasure to see you all gathered here," he told his acquaintances with a polite bow of the head and a soft, calming voice. Placing a hand on his chest, he added, "It's come to my attention you are not pleased with my coming to this quaint city. And I am absolutely saddened by such news. Do none of you trust me to lead you to riches and entertainment? We are, after all, partners in crime."

"That's not the shit ruining my day, boss!" scowled a woman hidden in the shadows. Snapping as she ruffled her wild hair, she shouted, "I've had the misfortune of ending up with the fuck-sticks here like a shitty sardine in a can! Do you have any idea how bad Porkchop smells?! It's like old bacon and a hormonal teenager's room to make you wish you puked shit!"

"Ah, the lady speaks bluntly from the heart," the boss chortled as if she was a child pouting adorably.

"Sir…" sighed one lanky man off to the side. His 8-foot-tall form was hunched over, making his skinny limbs resemble the legs of an arachnid, "I mean no disrespect, but our organization has been hiding due to our, ahem, competition in Italy. You told us we'd have our chance here."

"Indeed, indeed, indeed!" the mustached man sang, tilting his head to the beat of his words with a charismatic grin. Twirling his cane for dramatic effect, he pointed it off to the side, "Allow me to present you who is footing our bill for a feast here, ladies and gentlemen! This fine man here is going to allow us to go toe-to-toe with our Italian friends!"

From the shadows appeared an enormous creature, making the woman exclaim, "Holy shit-sticks on fuck! Is that a snake?!"

Everyone looked up at a green creature which towered over them built like a semi-truck and equally sized. It possessed green scales in a striped pattern and a serpentine tail with crimson spikes along the spine. The upper body resembled that of a man with bulging muscles on his arms, clawed hands, and red scales grew around its sharp reptilian eyes like a mask, creating a permanent glare. Long flowing blonde hair ran down from the monster's head and reached its lower back.

"Allow me to present Lord Cedric to you," the leader of the humans said with a smirk. Devilish delight glinted in his eyes, "He is paying us handsomely for our services."

"How much?" one man of large size and heavy frame asked.

Cedric scoffed but pulled out a large chest, "I hope this suffices…" he opened the container to reveal gold, getting gasps from the others before turning to the leader. "My request is simple. Aid me in finding a girl, one whose identity is unknown to my Prince and myself, and your reward shall make this first payment seem like pocket change."

"Yo, I like the cut of your jib, Scales!" cheered a seemingly young girl with finger-gun gestures.

"Of course," the boss said, closing the chest with his cane. "I expect all of you to also provide aid in another matter. My associate here claims we may have unexpected resistance."

"How unexpected, boss?" questioned the long-limbed man with a tilt of his head, adjusting a pair of glasses. "I swept this city. No Stand users should give us trouble."

"I know, but do recall that those like us are attracted like magnets," the leader answered mirthfully. "No, our main obstacle, according to our main benefactor Prince Phobos, is magical."

"Aw, so Scales ain't a Stand user like us?" the young lady frowned. "You messing with my vibes here, boss-man! I thought I had a playmate!"

"Unlikely, for we are professionals," the mustached man warned her. "As such, we will accomplish our goals dutifully. I expect the best of you all for we have a bigger target waiting for us somewhere in Italy. Back on track… Hm, what was I about to say?"

"Magic interference," the seemingly overweight man told him.

"Ah yes, thank you!" the leader snapped his fingers and aimed a finger at his subordinate. "We have to deal with – and brace yourselves – magical Guardians. Five girls with powers over the elements who become powerful warriors destined to battle evil. Oh, they haven't awakened their powers, but we must keep an eye on them once they reveal themselves."

"Yo, boss-man, you mean Hocus Pocus Bogus stuff is real?" the young girl asked before sighing. "Whoa… That's expanding my mind, man…"

"So, these guardians…" a man whose hair was a set of dreads tied up back into a wild, waist-length ponytail spoke up. "Are they hot girls before and after they use their powers? Or do they only get hot every time they get their powers? Like, on a scale of one to ten, are they worth flirting with?"

"Judge them once you see them," the boss answered with a laidback grin.

"Sure will, sir, I'll be the first to test them!" the ponytailed man grinned lecherously, which made the snake man scoff.

"Don't make me regret this," Cedric told him.

"Yee of little faith, do not doubt the word of Frederick Queens…" the mustached man chortled.

"We are known as Sombras Danzantes," the long-limbed man warned him, appearing right behind Cedric and making him gasp in shock. "Whether it's light or darkness moving, we follow every beat."

"Your missing little lady is as good as at your home," said the guy with the dreads. "Unless she's totally my type, but-"

"Manners," Frederick warned him with a single glance, making the man gulp.

"Sorry, boss…"

"Better!" the leader smiled jovially. "Now, shall we have a little fun in our hunt?"

"I can't believe we're in America! Josuke, I feel like my luck's going to change coming to this country of dreams! Yes, I'll definitely get a girlfriend!"

"Oi, how about you tone it down, Okuyasu?! You're going to announce our arrival to this whole city!"

Two sixteen-year-old boys argue with each other at Heatherfield's airport. One of them was beyond excited, which his friend couldn't blame him for. Both were Japanese and stood out like sore thumbs among the crowd by more than their ethnicity. For starters, the hair of the less excited one, which would draw anyone's attention regardless of the situation or looks. Also, the two wore traditional school uniforms from their country, but an incredible amount of freedom was granted to them by said institutions. The two decorated their clothes in a way which gathered more eyes on them.

"But it's thanks to Rohan-sensei I can talk English this good!" the louder of the two said with a grin, then gave him a thumb up. "I gotta use my lines here! Surely, the difference in culture may earn me a girl!"

He was a tall, muscular boy whose age wouldn't be easy to guess by his height. Easily around 6-feet-tall, he towered over regular people. Added to that his muscular frame, he was a giant. He possessed a rectangular face which sported two scars with each one around an eye, a slow-witted yet honest expression, and the shaven sides of his black-haired head with a small pompadour atop. Even his clothing screamed, the blue uniform's money motif carried currency signs around it with two green belts around his waist.

"Different country, same results if you don't watch your words," his friend told him with a sigh. "Seriously, why are you so obsessed with that?"

Like the other teen, he was imposing despite his young age. Broad-shouldered and with handsome features of Eurasian origin, he had a strong jaw, expressive eyes and the biggest pompadour ever seen. His black hair was quite the sight and immaculately combed. His uniform had the upper part of his jacket opened to reveal a yellow top underneath. Golden badges of the peace sign and a heart kept the lapels apart with a second heart badge and an anchor one on the collar. With his baggy pants and dress shoes, he looked stylish even if flashy.

Also, he was quite handsome, which his friend sulked about, "Yeah, how'd you understand, Josuke…?" Okuyasu hung his head low. "Last Valentine, you got chocolates from nearly every girl at school. Koichi himself had Yukako bake him a cake. But me… I do have money and am in good shape. Is it my mug? Maybe I don't have the cool aura you and Jotaro-san have? Also, my grades are laughable…"

Fretting when seeing his friend's depression overtake him, Josuke patted his back, "Oi, oi, oi, I get it! It's fine! Really! Maybe there's one for you here!"

"Excuse me, boys," a police officer interrupted them with a quirked eyebrow. "I have to ask you two to tell me where your guardian is or if you need a direction, because you can't stay idle here."

"Sorry, sir! We're, um, waiting for my father," the boy said with a slight accent. "We'll get our luggage."

"Ah, Josuke, Okuyasu…" the two teens turned to a tall elderly man with a deep voice.

Said man, definitely nearing his 80s, had a well-trimmed gray beard around his jaw and wore a rather silly yellow hat with spots. Waving at the teens, he approached them with a wave and a cane in hand. He wore a red trench coat over a pink shirt, a green tie, beige slacks, and brown shoes. Due to his age, he had a pair of small circular glasses resting on his nose. Once near the boys, he stretched a gloved hand to Josuke, his other holding his cane tightly.

"Nice to see you, da… Mr. Joestar," Josuke said, rubbing the back of his neck with uncertainty in his eyes about how to reply to the handshake.

"I am glad to see you again, Josuke," the elder warmly smiled at him. "Please, follow me. Lunch is on me."

Getting their luggage, the teens followed the man without a second thought, while Okuyasu asked, "Hey, Gramps, why did you call us here? Don't you live in New York?"

"I do, but I got a call from a friend to meet her here," the man told them. Sighing heavily, the trio made their way to a taxi, "I'll tell you more once we arrive at our destination."

"Tell me…" Josuke started once the group were inside the vehicle with the elder seated between the boys on the backseat. "Is it like last time?"

"Unfortunately, it is far more serious," the old man told him. Looking at the two with a saddened expression, he took in a deep breath to begin his story, "Josuke, I met a woman long before I met-"

"Wait, what?!" said boy shouted. "Do you mean you have yet another illegitimate child?!"

"No, it never came to that!" the elder snapped. "I was good friends with her, I swear! Give me a break!"

"Can we really take your word?" Okuyasu asked with a suspicious look. "I mean, if you did it once, you may do it again."

"I'm too old to pull that stunt again…" the bearded man growled. "No, this acquaintance of mine came to me due to my connections to the old practice of Hamon and more."

"Ah, that thing you can do with breathing, right?" Josuke questioned curiously.

Nodding with a serious expression, the oldest of the group started his explanation, "For starters, the original teachings of Hamon were to fight creatures too advanced and powerful for mere humans to even dream to compare to, which we dubbed the Pillar Men. We didn't know where or how they truly came to be, or so it was until much later after I managed to defeat who I thought to be the last of their race."

"You m-mean there's more of those guys?!" Okuyasu asked, shivering. "I remember you telling us they snack on vampires for breakfast! How freaky are them?!"

"Wait, you know where they came from, right?" Josuke pointed out. "Then, you want us to help you keep them from coming to any cities… Like this one…"

"Yes, and… almost…" the spectacled man sighed. "Let us arrive at our destination. We shall order lunch and we can talk more once they arrive."

"They?" Okuyasu asked. "You mean we're not the only ones?"

"Actually, you two are the backup," the elder informed them. "Considering your age and the school…"

"School?" Josuke asked. "You mean we're with kids our age? Who are they?"

"Sorry, but it'll be better for you to see it," the boy's father said. "Trust me, I could never make it justice."

"Fine, but this is quite a ride for that," Josuke told him with a sigh.

Eventually, the odd trio found themselves at a Chinese restaurant. The interior was inviting and the food made the more easygoing of them feel his mouth water. Okuyasu was the first to grab a menu and sit down with Josuke and the pompadour boy's father nearby. Said elder leaned on his cane with a groan. Age wasn't doing him many favors, but he had so much to say and show them. Josuke pitied him, wanting to say or do something when noticing the man's eyes putting on a dead expression.

But he was beat to the proverbial punch, "Oh my, if it isn't Joseph!"

Turning to his side, the elder recognized the face, "Yan Lin, it's so good to see you."

Josuke and Okuyasu stared at the petite Chinese woman who walked to the man who summoned them to another country. Just as aged as him, although with pep in her step, the woman had a friendly aura which made her look like the kindest granny. With her black hair in a bun and a green robe with a dark blue sash, she carried herself with the grace of a maiden in her youth.

Identifying the woman as Yan Lin – and the friend Joseph told them about – Okuyasu and Josuke introduced themselves, "Hello, ma'am. I'm Higashitaka Josuke."

"Greetings, lady, name's Nijimura Okuyasu!" the other boy replied as the two waved at her. "Um, you wave here in the States, right?"

"Yeah, you only bow in Japan," the woman answered him with a friendly smile. "Such well-mannered boys you brought, Joseph."

Chuckling, Josuke rubbed the back of his neck, "So, uh, ma'am… How exactly do you know my father?"

"Long before you were born," Yan Lin said before turning to Joseph and making him wince with her stare. "And you are lucky you had such a fine young man after what cheating on Suzie Q, Joseph. Seriously, that woman loved you beyond reason. The girls and I threw you two a party when you became grandparents."

"Ow, you're never letting me live that down, are you?" the older man snickered with a light wheeze. "Fine, I deserved that…"

"Don't think the others don't want to give you a piece of their mind, regardless of your age," the Chinese woman warned him. She turned to the boys with her friendly smile back in place, "Anyway, Joseph told me about you two and I hope you are ready for what there is to come."

"Yeah, Josuke's old man told us about that," Okuyasu replied before frowning. "So, when do we get some answers myself?"

"In time, once the others arrive," the old lady answered with a polite smile. "Feel free to order anything you want until they get there."

"Really?!" Okuyasu cheered. "I've always wanted to try Chinese food, like actually cooked by Chinese people!"

"Try today's special, then," the granny cheered and turned to leave.

"Just a second," Josuke halted her, looking rather concerned. "Let me get to the point, though. Did you ask for us to come here because of… bizarre matters?"

"Unfortunately, yes…" Yan Lin replied with a weary sigh. "But please, do not misunderstand this as me asking for help for selfish reasons. Think of it as a grandmother who wishes to see her granddaughter safe."

"Your grandkid?" Okuyasu asked with furrowed brows. After a pause, he leaned towards the woman with a bashful expression, "Is she cute?"

"Believe me, she could get away with murder with just her smile," Yan Lin bluntly told him with a beaming grin.

Standing on his chair, the boy pumped a fist in determination, "Then in that case, this Nijimura Okuyasu shall bodyguard your grandchild better than in that movie with-Woah!"

"Idiot, sit down and act like a normal human being!" Josuke chastised his friend after forcing him to return to his seat.

"My, how lively you are!" Yan Lin exclaimed with a cheerful expression. "Anyway, may I take your jackets?"

"Oh, you don't need to, ma'am," Josuke replied with a wave of his hand.

"Boys, you're in America, you don't have to use your uniforms like you're still in school," Joseph told them. "Seriously, this brings back memories of Jotaro. He wore his own school clothes on our trip to Egypt."

"Well, when in Rome…" Okuyasu said as he took off his jacket and placed in on his chair, revealing a purple tank-top underneath.

"Man, it feels weird, but I guess Americans are far more casual than Japanese back home," Josuke replied and took off his own, showing a yellow tank-top with a zipper on each pec and a birthmark. On the back of his left shoulder, a star-shaped patch of skin was exposed close to his neck, "Anyway, could I please ask for the noodles and pork stew?"

"I'll have the fried rice and chicken," Okuyasu ordered.

"Same for me," Joseph told her.

"Coming right up," Yan Lin nodded and left to place their orders.

Suddenly, the doors swung open, "Excuse me, my fair lady, table for six."

"Take any table you wish, then," Yan Lin told none other than Frederick Queens.

Once the group was seated, the man turned to his comrades, "So, we are here for-"

"Did you have to pick Chinese… again?!" asked a round-faced woman with a voluptuous body next to him.

She was a dark-skinned lady in her late-20s with her large black afro held away from her forehead by a purple headband. With her round nose, fleshy lips, wide hips, ample bust and six-pack abs, a lesser man would bow to her. Dressing up like a rocker, she donned a white biker jacket of authentic leather, a pink top which exposed the aforementioned washboard tummy, and a purple skirt with a red skull pattern. For her legs she wore thigh-high black boots with spikes running down the sides and steel toe guards shaped like skulls.

"This place offers discounts for big groups like ours," Frederick replied with a smile. "Just as long as we order a big plate to share and-"

"For fuck's sake in a shit-wagon, can't we just go grab a burger or something?!" the woman roared.

"Roxxie, manners," asked an incredibly tall Chinese youth, just 20 years old. "The boss is inviting us for lunch, after all. Besides, a lady should never use such words."

Pale and the definition of lanky, the youth had his jet black-hair combed backwards into three rows of spikes with the sides shaven. His attire consisted of a black trench-coat with the ends looking torn off, a yellow shirt with white triangle, square and circle patterns as well as red X's, black cargo shorts, and black sandals. On his right hip was a steel chain with an old videogame controller attached to it. Last, but not least, he wore purple-tinted glasses which had the right lens shaped like a heart and the left lens shaped like a star.

"Yo, homeboy Duwang talking sense!" a petite woman of nineteen chirped, measuring barely past 4-feet-tall with a pair of mirthful green eyes sparkling in joy.

Dark orange hair was cut in a cute bob under a blue ski cap with equation signs all over it. Flat as a board, she could be considered a kid. She wore a purple tube-top and baggy white pants fit for a break-dancer with crisscrossed yellow lines and orange and white sneakers. Around her waist was a plaid red cloth worn as a skirt. Last but not least, she had a pair of large, white headphones with antennae extended hanging around her neck. Needless to say, she looked ready to dance and scratch records.

"Thank you, Instance," the told man told the redhead with a bow of the head.

"Most welcome, baby-boy!" the girl told him with the peace sign.

In turn, they angered the pouty-mouthed woman, "You two lovebirds can get on your knees and suck the darkest part of my a-"

"Audience," said the other man in a proper suit as he pointed at the other clients.

Fat but not morbidly obese, the man cut an imposing figure with his strong arms. He had a square face which was framed by his curly brown hair and matching beard and sideburns, both mimicking a cloud around his mug due to their fluffiness. For the occasion, the man wore a green pinstripe suit with a black shirt, a yellow tie with spiral patterns, and brown two-toned dress shoes.

Growling, the woman conceded, "Diep fuck-mothering Pocketts to the rescue of you two, I see."

"Better him than Ruth," said Duwang with a smirk.

"Come on, no need to be so mean," said a red-haired man with dreadlocks.

Dyed red dreads were tied up back into a wild, waist-length ponytail while his sideburns were painted in the same ketchup hue. Donning an orange vest with paint splotches, green pants with yellow spirals, a white t-shirt two sizes too big for his slim body and brown slip-on shoes, he was a peace necklace away from being called a hippie. He was quite fit and looked to be in perfect shape with a strong body. He had a wide and warm grin aimed at some of the female costumers, even doing finger-gun gestures at them.

"Still, why couldn't we have something else?!" Roxxie roared angrily, ruffling her afro. "Like, I don't know, pizza for a fucking change?!"

"I like the sweet and the sour of good Chinese meals," Frederick told her firmly before turning to Duwang. "And we have a clue here. Isn't that right?"

"More than right, boss," the tall Chinese answered before lifting his controller and smirking. "DragonForce doesn't lie… I saw the title of Former Guardian here."

"Can we really trust that thing?" Roxxie asked in annoyance. "Your fucking toy loves to jerk itself off too much. Last time we needed a clue, we had to-"

"Oi, if my sweetie says he found the gold, then trust the Big Man, dude," Instance replied to defend her love.

"Tsk, lucky you…" Ruth groaned, rubbing the back of his head. However, as he leaned back, he smirked to Frederick, "Anyway… Since we have a clue, how about I dig into it? You know I'm the best suited for the job."

"Of that I have no doubt," the leader replied casually before turning to the others. "Any objections?"

"No," they all said, although Diep had one problem. "Yes, one. Can we avoid soy?"

"Anyone interested in a meal with soy, kindly raise your hand, please," Frederick politely asked.

Meanwhile, a few tables away, the odd trio was having a good meal with Okuyasu crying in joy.

"Josuke, these spring rolls are to die for! Don't tell Tonio this, but he should totally learn from this Yan Lin lady!" the energetic boy told his friend with a large smile.

The pompadour teen gained a bitter expression at a bad memory, "Certainly a better experience than the first time I met the guy. Scrubbing every inch of his kitchen was a nightmare…"

"That's because you don't have the palate of a sophisticated food critic," Okuyasu joked with a large grin.

Smirking back, the other teen waved dismissively, "I don't think critic is what I'd call you, more like an aficionado. Seriously, nearly every good meal makes you cry."

"Only when it's about meals as good as this one!" Okuyasu cheered as he waved his chopsticks. "If food is this good in America, I wanna try the local cuisine! Hotdogs, for starters! I hear the bread isn't sweet like in Japan and that they use that chili thing they like in Texas! Oh, but also pizza!"

"The bread isn't sweet?" Josuke asked mildly interested before interjecting. "Hey, I heard from Tonio that American pizza is really thick with the dough."

"For real?" Okuyasu asked in shock before frowning. "But his pizza dough was so thin that it perfectly balanced the sauce and cheese… How could Americans just add too much to such a delicate balance?"

"Actually, I think they also put more sauce," Josuke told him upon recalling some memories. "In TV shows, Americans always employ plenty of sauce and cheese whereas the pizza Tonio makes has very little sauce and a small layer of cheese."

"Hmm, then I'm not so sure if I wanna try the American pizza," Okuyasu frowned.

"We should," Josuke offered with a kind smile. "The way I've seen it on TV, you could consider it more of a snack thing. Like junk food pizza instead of the healthy meal he makes."

"Uh, now I wanna try…" the scarred teen furrowed his brow in deep thought before groaning. "Dammit, Josuke, don't make me indecisive over good meals!"

"Don't blame me for your troubles picking up meals," Josuke growled back.

Not far off, Joseph and Yan Lin observed the two with the latter smiling fondly, "It seems those two are good friends. They may have their differences, but they've got the bond of friendship through hardship I wish I could've shared with my friends."

"Bitter or not…" Joseph said before pulling out a picture of a young brown-haired man, a blond youth with a bandana and a mature woman. "Everyone can make any friendship special…"

"Look at us, talking like we've got one foot in the grave," the Chinese woman joked.

"For me, maybe," the elder said with a deep sigh.

Giggling, Yan Lin shook her head, "I still can't believe you're bitter about me calling you an old man when we first met. You were the oldest and already a father."

"It still stings when I think how youthful I was back then," the man said before chortling. "Although, now in my old age I can't help but feel at ease… Seeing the kids whose golden spirits can protect this world…"

"They need our guidance, though," the elderly lady told him with a smile. "Speaking of…"

Suddenly, the door opened to reveal five teenage girls about fifteen years old each, the sight alone making Okuyasu swallow hard on his food, "Gck! Ack!"

"Oi, Okuyasu! What're you doing?!" Josuke cried in horror when his friend nearly fell over.

Quickly grabbing a glass of water and downing it in one swift gulp, the scar-faced teen pointed somewhere behind his friend and – to Josuke's shock – spoke in a whisper, "Josuke, look… It's heaven… Heaven's finally descended on us and with it has brought us angels…"

"Just how much oxygen did you lose on your brain from choking?" Josuke asked bluntly.

"Dumbass, check those beauties behind you!" Okuyasu exclaimed in another whisper.

Turning back, Josuke stared and blinked in mild surprise, "Wait… do you think they are the ones we're waiting for?"

"I hope so!" Okuyasu cried under his breath with a large grin. However, once his fellow Japanese started to drink some water, he had some doubts, "Oi, Josuke… Um… Who do you call dibs on?"

Once the more sensible teen poured the water down the wrong tube, he had half a second to get his breathing under control to avoid shooting his drink to his nostrils. Once he managed to do so and, after a rather annoying coughing fit, he nearly yelled at the question but barely managed to keep his voice down. Instead, he grabbed his friend by the lapels of his purple top and glared. Okuyasu looked on with an apologetic if terrified smile, knowing that angering the other teen was bad news.

"What kind of question is that?!" Josuke growled and shook his friend. "You don't even know them! Hell, at least try to know a girl before you say something so dumb!"

"You can't deny those five are beauties, so confess already!" his friend insisted. However, as he looked at the girls again, he started to panic, "I, uh… I have a thing for pigtails… but blondes are really hot… Then again, redheads have such nice hair… Although, the brunette has a nice bod… Um, oh no, the one with the glasses looks really cute…"

"Are you really this hopeless…?" Josuke asked bluntly before rubbing his face with a hand. Getting up, he decided to end the tomfoolery, "Listen, we can just talk to them and-"

"No!" the scarred boy yelped and barely grabbed his friend by the shoulders. "Look at this mug, Josuke! They may cry and run away! So we need to plan this and-"

"They're gone…" the more collected boy told him dully.

"Oh… dammit…" his enthusiastic friend lowered his head in defeat. "Shit, why do I have to be such an ass when it comes to ladies?"

"Hey, come on, you won't know unless you try, right?" Josuke offered kindly even if he knew his friend was beyond hopeless at the rate he was going.

"Do ya really think so?" Okuyasu practically interrogated him upon looking at the other boy directly in the eye.

"Yeah, so don't give me that creepy look!" Josuke exclaimed, stepping back. "Seriously, just calm down and let's just… I don't know, come up with that plan you wanted…"

Revitalized by the confidence he had in his friend, Okuyasu pumped up a fist, "Fine, I'll conquer at least one of those cuties! Just watch me, Josuke! I'll be reborn like the phoenix of legend!"

"I wish you put this much effort into studying…" the other boy muttered with another deep sigh.

However, not far from them, a certain redhead watched everything with a smirk, "So… another hunter joins the fray, huh? Well, this Ruth Cobb isn't going to miss a homerun with such fine ladies…"

While the two boys were having their little discussion, the girls had a conversation between themselves.

"Hey, were those two guys in flashy clothing checking us out?" asked a blonde with waist-length hair, sharp features, and a slim figure. Her pink sweater and long blue skirt emphasized her hourglass body which while not particularly busty was pleasant to look at. Adding to that the big blue eyes and modest bust with curvy hips, she was rightfully pride of her looks.

"Oh, do you need the ego stroking before or after a meal?" teased a brunette with short hair and a natural tan. With her curvier body, packing a more than generous amount of weight on her chest and meaty thighs, she was attractive, and yet she didn't focus on her looks. Dressing on in jeans, a red top, and a brown jacket, she had a more tomboyish appearance. Her sense of humor proved she had her impish side.

"I'm actually serious, Irma," the blonde said to the brunette before whispering. "One of them has a creepy look in his eyes, and those scars…"

"Wow, for once I agree with Cornelia… I never thought I'd ever say that," the brunette gulped and turned away, then pondered on what she saw. "Although… the other one's kinda hot."

"Girls, focus," said a dark-skinned member of the quintet with circular glasses. Her short hair was adorned with a small ponytail which hung at the side of her head. With her orange and t-shirt with detached cream-colored sleeves, jeans, and thin body, she gave an air of warmth. Although she was obviously quite timid as she tried to avoid making eye contact with the boys.

"Are they from our school?" asked a redhead with her hair in a lovely bob framing her face. She donned a red sweater, denim jacket, and brown slacks, clearly preferring to be comfortable than fashionable. While not as playful in her appearance or stylish, she possessed an odd charm to her. However, it was hidden by clear insecurities, such as her not being as close to the girls as another.

"Like, we'd know if the new girl was accompanied by new guys, Will," the blonde retorted. "I mean, I don't think I've seen them in our classes. What about you, Taranee?"

"Nope, and they don't really blend in," the spectacled girl told them. "Do you see how freaking big they are? Pompadour is ripped and most likely trying to be a heavyweight boxer, but Scars is practically a brickhouse."

"Quite an odd sense of fashion, though," the brunette said. "Although, let's give them this, they're better fashion-coordinated than Uriah."

"So, why don't we talk to them?" the final girl asked, a petite Chinese girl with her black hair done in pigtails. She was skinny yet had a perky everything, attitude and assets included. Naturally cheerful judging by her jovial smile, she wore a yellow skirt, a purple top and a green jacket which while pointing out her lack of curves made her colorful and easy to stand out.

"Are you kidding?" Cornelia asked with a huff, then smirked as she pulled her hair back. "If they see this and don't try to come to us, they're bound to miss out in good girlfriend material."

"I don't think they're bad guys," the pigtailed girl told them before walking to the odd duo.

During that talk in which the other four girls tried and failed to stop the Asian teen, Josuke and Okuyasu kept talking with the former getting madder by the second, "Dammit, man, just muster up the courage to at least form a sentence! Or even a word! I'm not talking to them for you!"

"Josuke, don't be so selfish when you've got the looks!" the scarred teen growled, pointing at him. "You've got a chance to score us girlfriends, so don't blow it!"

"Oi, asshole, you're the one who wants to date someone in this country, so man up!"

"Screw you! Be a bro and help those who need the aid of a proper hero!"

"Where's the logic in that nonsense?!"

"Come on, Josuke, just-"

"Hello!" and the fight ended when they noticed a girl wave at them. "My name's Hay Lin and my family runs this place. Do you need anything?"

Okuyasu gulped at the sight of such a beaming smile, then sweated as he tried to form words, his own grin shaking, "Um, uh, fortune cookies…?"

"I've got you covered!" the girl beamed clasping her hands and turning.

For a moment, everything was quite as the Chinese girl waved at her baffled friends and Josuke stared at his friend with increasing concern, "Oi, man, did you really just blow your chan-"

"Josuke…" Okuyasu said quietly, worrying his friend more.

"Yes…?" the pompadour teen asked with a quirked eyebrow.

"I'm…" swallowing a lump in his throat, Okuyasu turned to his friend with a thumb up, tears in his eyes and the happiest smile in his life plastered all over his face. "I'm making sure that girl's the happiest person to have ever lived in this and any other world."

"What…? No, sorry, seriously… what?" Josuke asked with a deadpan expression.

"She walked to me with a smile, Josuke!" the other teen cheered in a whisper. "No girl has ever done so before when looking at my mug! Even waitresses tend to put on cold faces, never a single smile! But that one girl came to yours truly with such a sincere grin… Josuke, I think I'm in love!"

"Man… what a sad love life ours is…" Josuke told his friend bluntly and dully.

"Oi, for a fellow as handsome as you, this may seem desperate," Okuyasu said strongly and firmly. "But to a guy like me, she's like an angel descending in a war zone, a river in a desert! I, Nijimura Okuyasu, swear to make that girl smile regardless of any hardships in life!"

"You've skipped step one and jumped to the final one, you idiot!" Josuke snapped in as hushed a tone as he could muster.

"My mind's made up, so shut up and be ready to be my best man!"

"Don't rope me into this!"

"Josuke, Okuyasu," the two turned to Joseph, who waved at them while Yan Lin gathered the girls.

"Um, uh… hi…?" Okuyasu put on a nervous smile while his friend slapped his face.

"Hello!" Hay Lin beamed and waved. "I'll get you those fortune cookies as soon as Grandma finishes what she wants to talk to us about."

Yan Lin shook her head, "Actually, I want to talk to all of you." The elderly lady told the five girls, who looked at the two boys with some awe at their height, minus Hay Lin, "Everyone, meet some friends of mine. A fine young gentleman by the name of Joseph Joestar who I was good friends with and his son and friend."

"A pleasure to meet you, girls," the elder said, but the girls were blinking in stunned silence.

Suddenly, Cornelia exclaimed, "Wait, son?! One of you is this guy's…?"

"That'd be me," Josuke told them, rubbing the back of his head. "My name's Josuke Higashitaka, but some people call me Jojo for short. And this man here is my father… Ours is a long story, though."

"It's certainly unusual," Will said with a raised eyebrow.

"And this fine gentleman is Okuyasu Nijimura," Yan Lin added, motioning to the scar-faced teen trying to compose himself.

"Yeah, as Granny Yan Lin says, I'm a friend of Josuke's and, uh, here to lend a hand…" the teen said with a shaky smile before realizing his pun. "Um, did I intend to make a joke there with The Hand?"

"Give Irma a call if you want material for jokes," Cornelia told him, elbowing the brunette who glared slightly.

"Very funny, Corny," the girl said and elbowed her back.

"Before we digress, there's something we need to talk about," Yan Lin told everyone before turning to her friend. "Joseph, if you'd be so kind."

"Certainly," the man said as he and Yan Lin led the group of teens to a small room away from prying eyes.

Ruth smirked to himself, rubbing his chin in thought, "Oh, so we've got Stand users helping those girls? Well, ain't a better chance to show off to those cuties…"

As he spoke, shadows behind him shifted and danced.

-4-

Our oddball group sat around a small table with the boys finishing their meal and the girls enjoying theirs. All the while, Okuyasu couldn't help but grin and giggle like an idiot whenever Hay Lin politely offered him a glass of water and tried his best to pass her anything she needed. It was so sweet that the others started to get diabetes. Perhaps the only one unaware of Okuyasu's obvious crush, besides himself, was the same cause of it. Hay Lin smiled at him and didn't seem to think much of his kindness but took it with sincere joy. Josuke partially wondered if he should be an ass and tell them to kiss.

Right when Hay Lin went to the bathroom, Irma beat him to it, "So, when's the wedding?"

Poor Okuyasu had been drinking from a glass of water and needed to turn around when streams of clean water rocketed out of his nostrils, "Wh-wh-wh-what are you talking about, girl?!"

Slapping his face again, with the rest of the girls doing the same, Josuke spoke up, "Dude, could you be any less subtle about liking a girl?"

"Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your point of view, Hay Lin seems to be her innocent sweet self," Taranee commented.

"I feel bad for you, honestly," Cornelia told the scarred boy. "To fall for the most clueless girl in this country… I mean, it's cute in a weird way, but this is painful to watch."

"Come on…" Okuyasu moaned and planted his face on the table. "Ugh, like you Americans say, stick a fork in me… I'm done…"

Gently patting his back, Will put on a strained smile, "It's not that bad… She's not turning you down, is she?"

"Right!" and just like that the boy's mood soared sky-high. "She's still the same sweet angel who looks at me without revulsion!"

"Wow, your friend is… bipolar or something?" Irma asked Josuke.

"To be honest, this isn't his weirdest mood swing…" the other teen commented, recalling the energetic boy's first time trying Italian food and his varied reactions which started from disapproving and judging to the same ecstatic face he was seeing. Chuckling, he had to be honest, "Frankly, I don't think I'd change that about him. It's more fun to have someone a little crazy as your friend when you're a little crazy yourself."

"Did you pick that line from a fortune cookie?" Cornelia asked flatly.

"Give credit where it's due, it's not a bad way to look at our friendship," Taranee said, looking at everyone.

Will smiled and was about to speak, but that was when Hay Lin arrived along Joseph and Hay Lin, the latter speaking, "Did you girls enjoy your meal?"

"I don't think I've had anything this good in forever," Will replied while the woman brought them fortune cookies. Opening hers, she arched an eyebrow, "Bizarre turns await you in a new adventure."

"Yeah…" Josuke chuckled with a dead look in his eyes, feeling bad for her. His cookie read, "Danger looms in your future."

"We must be very cautious," Joseph told him.

"Do you seriously listen to a cookie?" Cornelia asked.

Hay Lin interjected with a serious expression, "Never mock the cookie…" and she broke into a smile, "Sorry, I've always wanted to say that."

"Good, that's a good line!" Okuyasu blurted out with a chuckle.

Everyone pitied the pure boy while Hay Lin giggled, "Thanks! There's this old guy who always says that when someone doesn't trust our fortune cookies, he's a regular!"

"Ahem…" Joseph decided to cut off the chatter with an old TV on a small food cart. "I'm sorry for doing this so abruptly, girls, but we need to talk about the strange events you all must have experienced."

"Strange how?" Taranee asked.

"Like, have you seen what's been happening around me?" Cornelia questioned her.

"Oh dear me, the conversation's shifted from Cornelia entirely, how rude of us," Irma cheekily smirked a the blonde.

"It's not about looks or anything shallow," the long-haired girl defended herself. "I mean-"

"Bizarre events happening around you, right?" Joseph asked with a sagely tone. Each girl looked at him in worry and wonder, but Will was puzzled, "For example… The powers of the elements coming to your beck and call when you least expect it. Fire bursting larger and hotter flames. Water moving as if it's alive. Gales of wind flowing from nowhere. Plants sprouting with life beyond normal…"

"Okay… you're freaking me out," Taranee said.

"It's alright to be afraid, girls," Yan Lin told them calmly. "It's time for you to learn about what you are… Guardians, protectors of this and other worlds."

"Beg your pardon?" Irma asked. "Did you say we-"

"Yes, I did," Yan Lin replied calmly before producing a small box. "However, showing may be better than telling."

The elderly Chinese woman opened the box and took out a spherical pink jewel. It was encased with a metallic design and hanging from a simple chain, making it quite the attention-gathering pendant considering the fact that it was glowing and beating as if it were alive. Most of the girls stared at it in awe while the two teenage boys felt uneasy. Josuke felt as if his head was lighter, a calming feeling which removed stress as well as the fatigue from jetlag, which made him question what that thing could do. Okuyasu felt oddly defensive after events with items holding immense powers no regular person could understand, the pendant's seemingly innocent shape reminding him of a particular arrow. Joseph looked at the item with a stoic expression, clearly having his own memories with it.

"What is that?" Josuke finally asked.

"This is the Heart of Kandrakar," Joseph answered his son. "There's always a generation of five women from Earth picked by it, given power to fight against Evil across the stars, or protect and guard the Veil. Each Guardian is given control over an element they can wield at her disposal. As you all may guess as of now… the girls here are the new Guardian generation."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Cornelia cut him off, hands up. "Listen, sir, if this is to sell us that crappy TV… Well, congratulations on making the most original story, but-"

"Oh, he's not kidding," Yan Lin told her, sitting her down with a polite smile and a gentle hand on the blonde's shoulder. And with a wave of her hand, things changed, "Allow me to take it from here, Joseph."

Touching the air, a projection of the cosmos and creation filled the room, surrounding the people present and making them gasp in awe, although Okuyasu was more vocal, "Soooo cool!"

Giggling at the innocent reaction, the elderly woman elaborated on the story, "Long ago, the universe was nothing but a peaceful realm in which the Known Worlds, each one populated by its own creatures and people, lived in harmony." Yan Lin said as the planets in the image started to move. "But soon, Evil started to take root in the universe. To fight and contain that Evil, a congregation formed by sages of all the Known Worlds was formed, a Council of Light in the brilliant world of Kandrakar. They gave worthy chosen of their worlds access to the power of their world's Heart, every world's source of mystical energy, magic."

"Magic?" Will questioned in stunned shock. "But that's not real, right?"

"Yeah, the new girl's right!" Cornelia exclaimed. "Magic's not real!"

"Actually," Josuke started, holding his chin. "Considering some of the stuff my friends and I can do…"

"For real?" Irma asked with an arched eyebrow. "Like, the pulling your thumb trick or-"

Before she could continue, Yan Lin spoke up, "Josuke, you can show them your Stand. They'll be able to see it."

"Wait, what?!" the boys exclaimed along the girls, but the two male teens were louder with Josuke pointing a finger at his confused expression. "Oi, oi, oi, are you for real?! But they're not Stand users… Does this mean that Stands are magical?"

"As a projection of your fighting spirit, it's no different from magic in how it is linked to your soul and life energy," Joseph told him.

"Great… thanks for the pressure…" the teen coughed into his fist and noticed Taranee's glasses. "Um, your lenses are slightly scratched, right?"

"Yeah, I've been meaning to get new ones, but-" the girl started to speak, but was cut off when something appeared.

From Josuke's back, a humanoid figure materialized out of thin air. It was a huge muscular male entity which had a pink body covered in silvery, light blue armor. It possessed a powerful build and stood two heads above Josuke. The face was covered by clad in tall helmet with the topside looking like a heart while and armored plates protected many portions of its body with a heart motif on its shoulders, celiac plexus, belt, and knees. Cables joined the back of its head to its upper back bears while short spikes protruded from its shoulders and ankles.

"So, there's a buff pink man who looks ready to fight gladiators behind you…" Irma commented, but her expression akin to a fish out of water said she was trying and failing to joke in order to relax herself.

"Girls, this is Crazy Diamond, my Stand…" he told them calmly as the figure stood behind him. "And its power is to put together anything it touches, like this."

Moving at speeds the girls couldn't react to, the group of once normal teenagers watched the Stand had already grabbed Taranee's frames. Golden light emitted from its armored fingers and the group could see a series of scratches sealing up. In a matter of a single second, the lenses were completely polished as if brand new. Even the frames looked like they had been reinforced with a brand new paintjob.

"Okay… kinda cool…" Taranee said as she put on her glasses once the Stand handed them to her.

"Every Stand has different powers, and every user can fight for good or evil," Yan Lin told the girls. "The reason Josuke and Okuyasu are here is no mere coincidence. After all, they aren't the only Stand users in this city and, unfortunately, they are working for the evil which rose up in Earth's nearest neighbor in the cosmos, the world of Meridian."

"You mean, men who used the Arrow?" Okuyasu asked, feeling angry at the memory of such an item.

Nodding at him, Joseph continued for Yan Lin, "The Evil which summoned this group is no other than Prince Phobos. However, Phobos is a male heir, and thus not recognized by the Heart of Meridian. The true heir, and holder of the Heart of Meridian, was sent here, to Earth, hidden from her brother. Meanwhile, a Rebellion has flourished in Meridian, and tears in the walls which keep our worlds apart known as Portals started to break into the Veil since. Unfortunately for us, Phobos' legions used it to cross here and meet up with a gang of Stand users known for their exceptional mercenary work."

"Uhm… question?" Irma said raising her hand as if she was in class. "Do we also get these Stands or what?"

Everyone was shocked by Okuyasu's reaction when the boy slammed his hands on the table and stood up, summoning his own Stand, "Like Hell I'd let you shoot them with an Arrow, granny!"

At once, the illusion was gone when Yan Lin calmly dispelled it and observed Okuyasu with a small smile. She liked the boy's willingness to protect the girls. However, most people would've been terrified of the tall Stand behind him. It was a white humanoid figure with blue armor and golden decorations, like football pads with golden spikes jutting from them. A towel-like object draped over its shoulders, with a dollar symbol on one end and a yen symbol on the other. On each side of its face are blinders that covered its headlight-shaped eyes. Its right hand had spiderweb-like lines on the inside, along with two bumps on its palm.

"It won't be an Arrow which gives them power, boy, but the Heart of Kandrakar," she told him, but the boy wasn't budging.

"You're not hurting them with it, are you?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Oh my, such a kind soul like you would make a girl very happy," Yan Lin remarked.

While Okuyasu blushed, disarmed by that compliment, the elderly woman approached the box she had left over the table. She opened it and took something out of it. Something resembling a spherical pink pendant with metal adornment that hanged from a little and thin chain. The pendant was glowing and beating. It seemed alive. For a few minutes no one said anything, every person opting for remaining in silence.

"Okay…" Will said, standing up. "I… This is a lot to take in and-"

"Sweet!" from the shadows, a voice emerged. "You mean that pendant's a source of unlimited power?!"

"A Stand user?!" Josuke asked as he and Crazy Diamond got in defensive positions, shielding the girls from the walls along Okuyasu.

"The Hand!" Okuyasu called his own Stand, which opened its right palm in an offensive stance.

"Don't worry, I won't bite," said Ruth Cobb as his hand emerged from Will's shadow!

"Ah!" the girl cried when her ankle was pulled into her own shadow. "What the- Hey, let me go!"

"Oh, you're my type…" said the enemy Stand user.

"Let her go, ass-hat!" Josuke roared as his Crazy Diamond tried to punch him.

"Fast, but not fast enough!" Ruth crowed as his Stand took place and form. "The Outfield!"

To everyone's shock, Josuke's Stand, a powerhouse in speed and strength, found its fists bouncing off! Everyone stepped aside as they saw a black wall of a strange matter, an onyx-like substance which seemed to be made of a crystal so dark one couldn't see through even with light, appeared. It formed into a wall which pushed back the other Stand. All three men in the room glared while Ruth finally emerged from the dark and stood behind Will, grabbing her by the chin with one hand and wrapping his other arm around her midsection.

"No funny business, now," the red-haired Stand user warned them. "I'll be taking that nice little necklace for the girl. If your little story's right, that little trinket will make my job easier and kill two birds with a single stone. Of course, I can take one of your little friends and make my job easier for later."

Will felt herself about to cry. A normal girl in a new city wanting to move forward after her parents' divorce. She gets told she's about to battle magic and an evil prince with strange powers. Not only that, but she's about to get kidnapped for a rock she was supposed to be connected to. Part of her wanted to scream, to beg for it to be a dream and curl up. And yet…

"Hands off, perv!" the way Ruth's hand rubbed her stomach wasn't comfortable.

Remembering something she saw in a bad action movie, she swung her hips to the side and then brought her balled fist down like a pendulum… straight into Ruth's groin. Every man in the room winced while their enemy sucked air in sharply. Ruth's eyes crossed over as he let go of Will, who ran to the others before the red-haired hippie dropped to his knees. The enemy fell face down, holding his crotch with a wheezing cry.

"Baby… we only… met…" Ruth said in a high-pitched tone… and immediately looked up with a smirk. "And I think you're my one and only…"

"Dude…" Josuke and Okuyasu said with equal disgust, their eyes narrowed.

"Gross!" Will shrieked as she felt herself shiver from head to toes.

Before any chance for recovery was given, Okuyasu grabbed Ruth by the shoulder and slammed him against a wall with Josuke right beside him with Crazy Diamond cracking its knuckles, "Talk while your pie hole can still flap around!" the scar-faced teen threatened the enemy Stand user, "What do you want with the girls?! Are you with that Phobos guy?!"

"Gee, he pays the bills," Ruth told him, still wincing from his sore privates. "Guess…"

"We're not here to joke around," Josuke warned him stoically. "Trust me, if you dare touch any of these girls again, I'm not killing you… I'm doing something far worse than death for you."

"Kekekeke…" Ruth started to snicker before narrowing his eyes at them. "I could be intimidated if you were, you know, intimidating, but… The Outfield!"

Before the two boys knew it, dark matter formed and pushed the two back! Once again, the bizarre black matter appeared on Ruth's hands. It was shaped like gigantic foam-fingers, the kind seen in baseball games worn by fans. After being poked by the gigantic fingers, the strange material disintegrated like dust, returning to nothing and leaving no trace behind. Then, Ruth dusted himself before looking at the pink jewel.

"You're not getting this from me, you hippie," Yan Lin told him while clutching the Heart.

"Oh, but I can," Ruth said as he reached into the shadow behind himself… and pulled out a whip! It was made of the same stuff the wall and foam-fingers were composed of, and he expertly lashed it to wrap around the jewel and pull it into his hand, "Thanks!"

"Get back here you dirty-haired punk!" Okuyasu roared, but Ruth slid backwards, his back hitting the wall.

"The Outfield, Your Love!" he cried, summoning his strange power to merge with the shadows and sink into them! "Toodles, babes! Next time, let's have an actually fun date!"

"Get back here, you-" Okuyasu snapped, but Josuke halted him with a hand on his shoulder.

"Wait, that guy's a Stand user, so there must be rules he's following," the pompadour teen told his friend.

"You mean like you two?" Taranee asked. "But he doesn't have one of those weird armored guys floating with him."

"Stands come in many forms, young lady," Joseph informed her and then narrowed his eyes. "However, Josuke is right… That guy can't alter the way his Stand works, nor does he have much of a plan."

"Other than stealing that pink gem right on our faces?" Irma commented sarcastically.

"It's not that he stole it, but how he did it," Joseph continued before turning to his son. "Josuke, did you notice something weird?"

"Yeah," the boy nodded before turning to Will. "He went for you when he could've gone directly for the Heart itself. Why?"

"Because he's a perv," Will groaned, trying to not shake in disgust.

"Still, taking the Heart and avoiding this hassle…" Taranee connected the dots along with Josuke and Joseph.

"Um, he's an idiot and didn't think things through, right?" Okuyasu guessed with as determined a look as he could muster. Trying to impress Hay Lin, he stepped forward and held his chin, "That moron's got to be a few streets away, running off, like a coward but I'm sure we can-"

"No, wait, he's still here," Will caught on as she looked at the distance between herself and Yan Lin. "He can move into the shadows, but if he could pop out of any shadow he could've sunken into his…"

"And judging by the fact he popped in after the TV was brought in, that must have been how he snuck in," Josuke assumed.

Joseph nodded, "He hitched a ride on the shadow under the cart, and possibly used the shadows under the tables to move to Will…"

And inside the darkness, observing everything like a diver in an aquarium looking at the people through the glass, Ruth clenched his jaw, "Crap, these guys are too smart… Shit, why can't I ever be stuck with an easy mark for once? Fuck, fuck, fuck…"

"Meaning…" everyone turned to the shadow where Ruth was still hidden.

"Grr, to hell with this bullshit," Ruth leapt out of the wall and made his way to the door, bolting like a madman. "Lucky guess, you suckers and babes!"

"Oh no you don't!" Okuyasu snapped and his Stand moved. "The Hand!"

Everyone in the room watched as the scar-faced teen's Stand moved its right hand. Space was distorted as the palm fully engulfed and erased it, connecting it soon after. The result was that Ruth was pulled back a second later, held up by The Hand's left hand with the right one next to his face in a threatening manner. Josuke couldn't help but smile at his friend's actions. Most of the girls felt more at ease that the Stand user who'd have stolen from them didn't escape. And yet, Ruth could only grunt in annoyance…

"Tsk, good job, you aren't as dumb as you look," the Casanova wannabe growled.

"Start talking, who do you work for and what do you want?" Josuke questioned him.

Then, Ruth just sighed deeply, as if it was a minor inconvenience, "Well, it's not like this will have mattered at all… Let's see what the boss tells me…"

"What are y-"

"Starman…" everyone turned to see none other than Frederick Queens walk into the room with a cup of tea. Behind him was an ominous figure cloaked in shadows, "Let's go back to before I had tea."

-5-

"Alright, time to do my-"

Ruth was about to check on the girls after finishing his meal, and was halted by his boss. Frederick let out a pained grunt as he held up his cup of tea to his nose. Blood poured into the china as the man convulsed for a moment. Everyone at the table observed somberly as their leader shuddered before calming down. For a moment, the man's eyes went blank. And then, Ruth sat back down with a sigh.

"That… was uncomfortable," Frederick said while wiping his nose with a handkerchief.

"So, how did the shitty manwhore screw up this time?" Roxxie asked with an amused chuckle.

"Oi, I'm only sixteen years old and part of a gang, give me a break," Ruth growled.

Instance giggled, "Come on, Roxxie mah girl, mistakes are good to learn, right bossman?"

"Indeed," Frederick replied as he raised his hand. "Can I have another cup, please? This one's a bit dirty."

"Yes, sir, and my apologies," the waiter replied and went back to the kitchen, not knowing there was blood on the tea.

Duwang was busy playing with his controller, as if he had a game before his eyes, "Huh, no changes … The girls are still set as Critter Whisperer, Comedian, Bookworm, Kitchen Aide and Pretty Face."

"But they'll be Guardians," Frederick told his gang. "I'd advise to keep an eye on them and not engage them regardless of the temptation, Ruth. Those two boys with them are dangerous."

"Great, so I have to leave Pompadork to woo the girls?" Ruth groaned. "Look at him! His face's carved by either angels or the most talented artist ever! How can I compete with that if he stays with those beauties and gets chummy with them?"

Diep, who was on his fifth plate of chicken, scoffed, "You'd need an actual chance."

"Oh, burn!" Instance giggled louder.

"Still, I've got a good assessment of their Stands," Frederick announced. "And our job's to keep them away from the princess, one which they are looking for. Ruth, go in and let me hear and see everything. Duwang, I count on you to update their data."

"Yes, sir," the two men replied with respectful nods.

Frederick smiled and looked at the room the group was in, humming a merry tune, "Rolling eyes fall… Ruling dies out…"

Roxxie snarled, "So… what now? Do we just sit here with our thumbs up our asses to wiggle them around or what?"

"It's the waiting game," Duwang replied. "Like grinding for EXP, you have to take your time to become stronger by doing a tedious task."

"Speaking experience, loverboy," Instance leaned on her lover's side, making her even tinier than she was. "We going to karaoke, right? Also, let's try that rhythm game you talked about, Par-rap-pa whatever."

"Ugh, do you have to be that chummy in front of us singles?" Ruth grunted in annoyance.

"You and the boss are the only single ones," Diep answered.

"Oh, shots fired!" Instance giggled.

Ruth felt his eye twitch as he looked at Diep and Roxxie, "How are you two married baffles the soul…"

"It comes with experience and determination," Diep said flatly. "And I could never give up with such a woman."

"Fuck you, lard tub," Roxxie groaned embarrassed, pouting rather cutely.

"Love you too, sweetheart," Diep replied and kept eating, making his wife get more flustered and lean against him.

"Braindead asshole…" she grumbled.

-6-

Back in the small room, things happened as they would have without Frederick's interference.

"Okay…" Will said, standing up. "I… This is a lot to take in and I'll make sure not to mention your names to my therapist."

"I know it's a lot to take in," Yan Lin told her. "I was also a Guardian and accepting that fate is not easy, especially at such a young age. That is why I've asked for Joseph to lend us a hand."

"You were a Guardian, grandma?" Hay Lin asked in surprise.

"And I know you've all found bizarre events happening around you," the elderly woman started.

"Other than the two guys who summon armored buff guys?" Irma quipped.

"For example, you, Irma," the woman offered her a glass of water. "I know you can move the water in this cup."

Everyone turned to the brunette who, after a brief sigh, lifted her finger. The liquid floated upwards before falling back into the vessel.

"Wait, you too?!" Cornelia exclaimed. "I told you weird things have been happening to me and you shrugged it off to make jokes!"

"Like what?" Josuke asked genuinely interested.

Cornelia looked at the plant on the table and waved her hand over it. The pot shattered as the roots spread out and flowers sprouted from it.

"Like that," the blonde told them.

"Oh… crap…" Taranee shivered. "So that's why… you mean I'm the cause of my pyrophobia?!"

"Pyro-what now?" Okuyasu asked.

"Fear of fire," Taranee said. "When I was young, I tried to light matches and… and the flame burst and it… I thought I've have my face burned."

"Hey, don't worry about fire, then," Josuke told her before hooking a thumb to Okuyasu. "This guy may not be the brightest, but he's good at putting out fires."

"So long as there's no hair involved," Okuyasu muttered to himself.

"Then…" Hay Lin hummed, a finger placed on her chin. "Does that mean when I sneezed and a tornado appeared on my room it wasn't a strong breeze?"

"Yup," Yan Lin nodded.

"Okay, whoa…" Will hadn't seated down and held up her hands. "Guys, this all sounds amazing, but I can't even pull quarters out of ears."

"Will, for you there's the most important power," Yan Lin held up the Heart to her. "You're the guide, the unifier, the Wielder of the Heart of Kandrakar. It is through you that all others can gain their powers and be Guardians. And, with you as leader, the Veil is under the protection of you five."

"Pressure…" Josuke hissed while Will stood there in shock.

"No, no… I-I can't!" she exclaimed, and the pompadour-wearing teen felt bad.

But not as bad as his father, "Young lady…" Joseph's voice drove Will's attention to her. "I know we're asking the world of you, but there are times in which people don't have a choice."

"What do you know?" Will asked. "I just wanted to live here in peace, try to be normal and get my grades up."

"I know, it's not fair, but it's also not unfair…" Joseph told her. "Sometimes, it just is. Because the actions of others will affect you… Acting is to react to those actions, and most of the time, you'll never have a say in them. I know this because I've lost many friends who embarked on me in journeys to stop men as evil as Phobos, and it all started with the actions of one man…"

"Sometimes, it's not acting what may hurt the most, knowingly or not," Josuke continued with a sigh, rubbing the back of his friend. "Okuyasu and I lost family members and a friend to the actions of several greedy men. Those guys were beyond crooked and twisted, and yet if we hadn't done anything they'd have continued to do so."

"I'm supposed to just do it because this evil prince will come after me?" Will asked dejectedly.

Placing a hand on her shoulder, Josuke smiled, "It doesn't mean you'll be alone, though. Besides, Okuyasu and I've got experience facing people consumed by their powers."

"Fine…" Will told him, gaining a red hue on her cheeks from Josuke's gentleness. "I don't have to like it, though."

"You're free to complain to either of us," Josuke pointed to himself and Okuyasu.

"One more thing," Joseph said and patted the TV he brought in. "My Stand, Hermit Purple, can be used for psychic photographs and finding answers. However, there's a limit to it."

"For example, we've tried to have Joseph find the rightful heir to Meridian, but the magic protecting her keeps him from locating her…" Yan Lin told them.

"And yet, there's one thing I've found, the face of a man from our world working for Phobos," Joseph said as he placed his hands on the TV. "Hermit Purple!"

Purple thorny vines sprouted from his arm and sunk into the TV. On the screen appeared a man huddled over in a cell. Raggedy blankets covered his body as he was approached by a tall man in dark robes with long blond hair, a goatee and pale skin. Yan Lin immediately recognized him.

"Phobos…" the grandma and the man in the cell said as one.

"Good afternoon," the prince mocked his prisoner. "I see you're eating well. Now, what information do you have for me regarding these Stand users."

Scoffing, the prisoner spoke up firmly and defiantly, "Pay them all you want, there will be others who will resist you. After all, Stand users attract each other, so you're fated to find one with a righteous spirit there to take you down, Prince."

"Ah, you still have fire in you," the dark man said with a smirk. "No matter, I've hired them to keep an eye out for those supposedly heroic Stand users. You, on the other hand… hmm…"

Phobos looked upward and smirked directly at the screen, which caused Joseph to curse, "Shit!"

"What a rude audience," the evil prince lifted his hand and sparks of electricity flew from the TV, forcing Josuke to let go as the machine ended up fried on the inside.

"I'm guessing that's not good," Taranee spoke up.

"He won't make eavesdropping easier, but we know enough," Joseph told them.

"Yeah, whoever he's forcing to inform him is an ally of ours," Josuke agreed.

"This is nuts…" Will whispered in awe and fear.

"Our first mission should be obvious," Joseph told them before Yan Lin continued.

"Learn to use your powers, train along your allies to know how to use them, and should a tear in the Veil happen…"

"We help that man, right?" Will said, feeling something wash off her.

"First, training," Yan Lin told them with a smile. "But it's good to see you gain some confidence."

"May as well try, right?" Will asked with as confident a smile as she could muster.

"Great answer," Josuke told her with a thumb up.

-TBC-

And that's my rap!

Next chapter, I'll try to add more to finish it off seeing how long I was making this. Sorry for cutting it off like this, but considering everything that comes next, you MAY forgive me…

Anyway, off to introduce the OCs I've got and the names of their Stands. No, I won't show their abilities until I have fully revealed said Stands, and Frederick hasn't shown all his tricks, unlike Ruth here.

FREDERICK QUEENS

-Stand: Starman, based off David Bowie's song.

-Age: 35

-Bio: this Freddie Mercury lookalike is the gang leader of the Sombras Danzantes (Dancing Shadows) and needs capital to face off against an Italian gang. My inside joke is that he looks like Freddie Mercury and has a Stand related to David Bowie since Yoshikage Kira was based off David Bowie but his Stand was based off songs by Freddie Mercury's band, Queen.

RUTH COBB

-Stand: The Outfield, with its special ability Your Love this Stand allows Ruth to merge with the shadows as well as materialize anything from any shade he touches. He can't freely move from unconnected shadows and is more reliant on his own fighting prowess.

-Age: 16

-Bio: this guy whose name is based off baseball stars Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb is the runt of the littler but therefore tries to be the craftiest. However, he's the one to take the most risks to prove himself to his boss and friends. He's into girls who can dominate him.

DIEP POCKETTS

-Stand: Def Leppard

-Age: 31

-Bio: the back-alley doctor of a New York mafia group, he was recruited by Frederick after he met and fell in love with his wife at first sight.

ROXXIE RHODES

-Stand: Led Zeppelin

-Age: 27

-Bio: former Rockstar wannabe whose dreams and debts made her fall into a life of crime, nihilism and hatred until she was recruited by Frederick because of her skills. He only remained in the group after meeting Diep. She's into bear-like men and will maul you if you tease her about it.

GANG DUWANG

-Stand: DragonForce

-Age: 20

-Bio: blackmail con artist who tried and failed to mess with Frederick, found a more lucrative job working for him. He's a massive Dragon Quest fan and yes, his name is a reference to the bad translation of part 4.

INSTANCE CRUSH

-Stand: Daft Punk

-Age: 19

-Bio: former street performer who used her Stand abilities to scam people out of any cash they had. Her skills landed her a solid gig with Frederick, but she became a full-time member after she and Duwang played one too many rhythm games together.
