"So you're an alien." Eva states, honey-brown eyes wide in disbelief. Jesse nods his head.
"Yes."
"From outer space." She continues.
"Yes." He confirms for her again.
"And you're a cop?"
"Er, yes." He thinks so. Then again, the Supernovas did break a lot of laws, but they generally kept the peace.
"And you're on the run from another alien race that will most definitely kill you?"
Ah. His current predicament was not one that he would like to be, but he'd have to make do. Hopefully this Terran woman would be nice enough to help him hide.
"Yes. Can I hide out here for a few hours?"
"Sure." She jerks her head to her backyard, towards a smaller building. "You can stay in the shed."
He thanks and follows her. After he shuts the door and is out of sight, Eva leans heavily against the side of the shed and sinks to the ground.
"Well, this is just peachy. I'm harboring a possible alien fugitive."
"I blame you for this." Titus grits out as he boots up their ship's weapons system. The Supernovas were supposed to be doing a recon-only mission, only to find out that the species they were investigating had much, much more advanced tech than they thought. It all went to hell in a matter of minutes.
"How was I supposed to know that they could see through our cloaking shields?" Jesse grumbles as he inserts himself in the pilot's seat. Mr. Z'zz steps in the co-pilot's and helps him prepare for a space jump.
"You head into situations with next to no plan, and you almost end up getting us all killed each time." Titus continues his lecture. Jesse's mouth quirks up,
"Key word being almost."
If they weren't currently fleeing for their lives, he's positive that the white feline-like alien would have given him a good-sized Nova force blast to the stomach. The Phlish starts gleeping in alarm, zipping around their heads.
"Great, they have a dark matter canon. Prepare yourselves." Mr. Z'zz translates.
"Well ain't that just peachy." Jesse muttered. The rest of the Supernovas gave him a variety of both annoyed and confused looks. He throws his hands up saying, "It's an Earth thing!"
"Knew you've been spending too much time there." Titus shakes his head as he starts shooting down the incoming ships.
"It is an interesting choice of wordplay." Mr. Z'zz says delicately, before bursting into a series of chitters that sounds a lot like laughter. The Phlish makes a few short gleeps in agreement.
"Well, I like it. Get ready to jump!"
"Hey kid, are you sure we're in the right place?" The older Nova asks suspiciously, looking at what Sam had claimed was the old Supernova Bunker.
"Relax Rich, I've been here plenty of times." The younger boy said, trying really hard to sound confident. Rich tilted his head, raising an eyebrow. Not that the kid could see it of course.
"Okay, it was only once. And it was like almost a year ago, but I recognize it." Sam admitted sheepishly. Nonetheless, he squared up his shoulders and started marching forward. Rich followed.
"Good enough for me. Buzz us in or whatever."
"Sure thing! Hold on while-"
"INTRUDERS! INTRUDERS! Defense protocols initiated! Prepare to be exterminated!" A shrill, automated voice yelled over the speakers.
"KID!" Rich screamed while charging up a blast at an incoming drone. Sam stood there dumbly as he tried to process what just happened.
"Aw crap, this is peachy."
"So I put on the helmet." Kaelynn says cautiously, looking at her older brother for direction. Sam nods towards the Nova helmet she has in her hands, and confirms,
"You put on the helmet."
"And I just think and it does its thing."
"Basically. Want to give it a go lil' lizard?"
"Don't call me that." She gripes, annoyed as she glares at him. Sam gives her an amused grin, and if it weren't for the helmet he had on his head, she was sure she would see his signature teasing glint in his eyes.
"Alrighty, let's see what you got."
Kaelynn puts on the helmet and lets the uniform slowly envelop her. Staring at herself in awe, she experimentally charges up one of her fists until it's glowing an alarmingly bright blue.
"Hey Kae, you might want to hold-"
She lets out a yelp as the energy leaves her fist in the form of a blast, leaving a gaping hole in the rock formation behind them.
"- back!" He finishes. The two siblings look at the now crumbling rockpile, and then back at each other.
"Well, isn't this just peachy?" Kaelynn offers, laughing nervously. Sam facepalms himself as best he can with his Nova helmet on.
"At least you didn't take out the wall to our house again."
"That was one time!"
