Chapter One

"Hope you get a quirk in your next life and go take a swan dive off the roof of a building!" Bakugou Katsuki's words were ringing in Midoriya's thoughts. He couldn't think straight. His childhood best friend had just told him to go kill himself. Midoriya wasn't going to do it though those words made him upset. He had a clear goal, and nothing was going to stop him! No one's words were going to hurt him.

OR SO HE THOUGHT…

Midoriya was almost home when he was passing underneath a bridge. He was almost out of the shade when he heard a manhole open. He turned around to see a sludge monster saying, "Ah perfect a small sized disguise!" Midoriya was freaking out, but he couldn't do anything before the sludge villain had a hold of him. The slime spoke, but Midoriya could faintly hear it "Don't struggle, it will make this faster." Though, Midoriya heard something in the distance, that made him hold on, just a little longer. "I AM HERE!"

"Hey, hey kid wake up!" Midoriya heard this and coughed before he realized who was talking to him. "All Might! Wait did he save me?" he thought. All Might realized he was almost out of time and said, "Well kid it was nice saving you I have the sludge villain right here!" All Might showed Midoriya the bottle he had in his hand filled with a green-brown type mixture. "I must leave now!" Shouted All Might before getting to leave he turned around "And I already signed your notebook!" "Wait please!" yelled Midoriya. This caused All Might to hesitate before jumping, but by this time the child had grabbed onto his leg to ask a single question. "HEY KID WHAT ARE YOU DOING? LET GO!" shouted All Might over the wind. "IF I LET GO I DIE!" countered Midoriya. All Might and Midoriya landed on a nearby roof. "Kid, what could have inspired you to hold onto my leg like that?" All Might had to cough to stifle a chuckle, but coughed up blood instead. "My time is running out," he thought. "Well I wanted to ask the question… Can a quirkless person be like you!? A person who can save everyone with a smile?" All Might pondered the question for a few moments. Those moments felt like the longest moments of young Midoriya's life. In those moments All Mights mind flashed back to all the pros who have gotten hurt being heroes. He sighed before responding, "Look kid, I don't want to disappoint you, but it would be like me sending you to your death if I said yes. Without a quirk it is much harder to do what pros do, and you would get hurt a lot more than they already do." All Might turned to leave. "Even if you can't be a hero you can still be a police officer or someone that deals with law. They get backlash because the pros mainly do it for them, but they do good work." All Might heard sniffles from the kid then an incredibly quiet "I understand." All Might left that roof wondering if that was the right thing to say.

Midoriya was understandably upset. The thing that was keeping him together for so long, the thin string, had been cut. He reflected on his life and realized he had nothing to offer, no potential. He realized he just made his mother sad, and worried. He didn't want her to feel those things anymore. Then he remembered those words he told himself he would never do. "Go take a swan dive off the roof and hope you get a quirk in your next life!" He smiled a sad smile, for he had a plan. He also saw a crowd gathering from a villain fight, but Midoriya had enough heroes for today.

When he arrived home his mother was there waiting for him worried because he was home later than he normally was. He gave her a long hug. Inko, his mother, was surprised because he barely hugged her. "Izuku are you alright?" his mother asked. "I am fine mama I'm just exhausted." Izuku retreated to his All Might filled room, tearing down all his posters, put his All Might figurines in his drawer, and sat down staring at his Hero Analysis books. Kacchan (Bakugou Katsuki) had burned #13 of these books, before saying those special words. Midoriya grabbed a piece of lined paper and wrote down his note. He included his mother, apologizing, and Ka- no, nicknames are for friends, he realized that now. He included Bakugou in the note blaming him for the bullying and also apologizing. His mother was making dinner, Katsudon, when he told her "Mom I am going out for a short jog!" "Alright sweetie, just remember to be back before 6!" Midoriya left the house with only his #13 Hero Analysis.

...30 minutes later

Midoriya made it back to the roof his dreams were shattered on, sure it was a long walk but he wanted to make it special. When he arrived at the roof, he looked over the edge. The magnitude of what he was doing hit him, and he stumbled back. He took a deep breath and evened his breathing. "It's ok, I want to do this." He calmed down and went to the edge again. He was clutching #13 before he thought, "Well this is it…" With that thought he let himself fall.

As Izuku was falling he hit something. He believed it was the ground, but he was still alive. As he slowly opened his eyes he was met with a blade to his throat. The man that was holding the sword, which was jagged and broken, practically roared, "Who are you and why did you attack me!?" "I-I didn't mean to, I was falling!" countered Izuku. "Falling from where?!" The man asked. Midoriya didn't have the strength in his words, but he pointed to the roof and the man understood. That's when Midoriya realized who he was. The red scarf and the black hair. "The hero killer!" he thought. That's when Midoriya realized how dangerous this situation was. Fear took over and he backed away from the Hero Killer a bit. "So kid, what prompted you to, well, you know. Izuku explained everything. From the bullying to All Might crushing his dreams. He also told Stain about being quirkless, to which Stain snapped "Sure you may be quirkless but look at me. My quirk has nothing to do with my abilities!" Izuku nodded, unsure what to say. Then Stain offered Izuku something that would change his life forever. "Hey kid, would you like to come with me and train?" Stain couldn't believe his own ears, but he followed through. Izuku nodded vigorously before he passed out. He had injured his arm, and passed out. Stain picked up the young child and carried him to his nearest hideout, his notebook in hand.
