Song: Girl Crush
Artist: Little Big Town
Song Title
It was made official not long after Ladybug and Chat Noir battled Miracle Queen. Adrien was dating Kagami, and it absolutely crushed Marinette. She knew it was coming, but nothing could really prepare her for the disappointment.
She knew it was her fault because she waited too long to be open about her feelings for him, and in all honesty, she didn't mind too terribly much because Kagami made Adrien happy. She also knew that Kagami had very little friends, so there wasn't a problem in letting her have Adrien.
They could all still be friends, couldn't they? She'd get over Adrien eventually, and maybe even move on to give Luka all her affection, right?
Apparently Kagami had different intentions. It was when Kagami made these true intentions known to her that Marinette knew she couldn't really be friends with her.
Marinette tried really hard to be her friend, really, she did. Kagami even seemed happy to have her as a friend too, but that was only when Adrien wasn't around, or when Kagami could tell that Marinette wasn't thinking about him as much as other things.
Truth be told, Marinette could never bring herself to completely stop thinking about Adrien, no matter how hard she tried. He was always at least on the back of her mind. Kagami seemed to know this, and Marinette supposed that was why she was beginning to be treated so coldly.
Anytime Marinette tried to spend time with Adrien, as friends of course, everything would be fine until Kagami came around. She weaseled her way between them, not always physically, and took him away, glaring and giving Marinette awful looks as she did so as if she were afraid her boyfriend would be stolen.
Finally, Marinette stopped trying to be friends with the both of him. Even her and Adrien's friendship began to really fall apart, and she hated it. That was the one thing she didn't ever want to happen, but Kagami was making it happen.
That was what brought Marinette to constantly think about Kagami, months after she and Adrien got together. Although at first she felt heartbroken and ached from the longing of friendship, now she practically loathed that girl Adrien called his girlfriend.
Marinette knew that Kagami was controlling and greedy when it came to Adrien, but what made her really mad was the fact he didn't seem to notice how much his girlfriend was coming between their friendship.
It was just like any other day, a little over four months after Adrien and Kagami made their relationship official. Adrien was alone with Kagami as they talked, though both seemed completely oblivious to how everyone would look at them.
Marinette wasn't the only one who sent glares at Kagami. She had stolen Adrien away from everyone and had practically ruined all the friendships that had and could have been.
Marinette stared at the girl, causing Alya to look at her with an amused smirk, but she couldn't help but stare.
"Why are you staring at her like that?" Alya questioned, but Marinette stayed quiet as she thought.
The girl's hair was short, but otherwise very similar to her own. She also had pale skin, though she did have more noticeable freckles. Her dark slanted eyes seemed to sparkle with laughter as she laughed at something her boyfriend said.
Right. Her boyfriend. That's why she was staring so intently at Kagami. She was Adrien's girlfriend.
"Alya," Marinette started, and Alya wasn't at all to hear the faint growl in her tone. "I just don't get it."
"Get what?" Her friend asked, still amused, even as Marinette's eyes narrowed into a glare.
Marinette didn't answer, instead focusing on her own thoughts and feelings about this girl.
Her heart was racing as she felt her frustration rise, and she knew it wasn't going to slow anytime. She wanted everything Kagami had.
Marinette bet that the girl's lips would taste like her boyfriend's because she knew they would've shared a few kisses by now, and that though made her feel a mix of anger and despair.
She wanted that laugh that was making Adrien grin. She wanted to drown herself in that girls perfume. She wanted that short dark hair. She wanted whatever it was that Kagami had to make Adrien feel that way about her.
Marinette knew she hadn't been sleeping well since those two had gotten together. She hated the thought of Kagami with Adrien.
She hated the way Kagami was whispering things into Adrien's ear that made him smile and even blush. That girl was really pulling him into that spell of hers.
Heaven knows she's tried hard to just stop thinking about this girl and her boyfriend.
"Alya, I don't like this." Marinette mumbled. "I don't like how much I think about her; how much I want everything she has. Maybe if I did, Adrien would want to be with me just as much as he wants to be with her."
"Marinette." Alya said, shaking her head with amusement. "If I didn't know why you stare at her and think of her so much, I might start believing you had a girl crush."
