Fluff with Belphie as a gift to my friend. He suffered so much in the main storyline, and we agreed we need more fluff with him. Spoilers for those who are still at the beginning, basically up to lesson 20-ish I believe. Her MC is called Ame, so I'll be using that name.
I do not own Obey me! or the characters.
Ame dragged her feet to her room. Spending time with the brothers was fun, but now that the things winded down, she felt drained.
She spent the entire day doing whatever they had planned on their day off.
Though, not all of them. Belphie was missing.
Her D.D.D. beeped with the message from the person her thoughts set upon.
"Are you coming?"
"Of course."
She replied briefly, trying to ward off the fatigue. After all, it was the highlight of her day to see his face.
In the rare moments when he was fully awake, she loved to look at his eyes. Something tender would overtake her whenever she gazed into the star-speckled, violet orbs. They changed with his mood, from flickering constellation to amethyst twilight, and were much more satisfying to observe now that they were clear of anger and guilt.
Changing into something more comfortable, she climbed the stairs to the attic room, knots in her stomach forming as usual.
It was the place that connected her to him and had plenty of painful memories that they both strived to overwrite with happy ones.
Lilith's passing left a hole in his heart that filled with pain and hatred. With mutual strength and love, he was slowly letting it go, focusing on healing.
"Ame?" He lifted his head from the pillow. "Took you long enough."
She smiled at his sulky pout.
What she liked about Belphie was his straightforwardness. He didn't expect her to forgive him for what he did to her. Yet, she chose to interpret a pact with him as his absolute promise never to hurt her again.
And though it took time, she was more than okay with being around him.
She felt his pain and worked towards mending his fractured heart.
"You look exhausted." He spread his arms, sensing what she wanted.
Ame sped up her pace, collapsing into his arms. The bed creaked as she sunk into his embrace, hugging him tightly and inhaling his scent.
Tranquility overtook her as she buried her face in his chest.
"...it's not because you're Lilith's descendant that I want to protect you and keep you safe. You're not her. You are you."
Safe. She felt safe.
"My brothers are an endless vortex of energy, spewing disaster as they go. Except for Beel. Well, when he's not in the kitchen."
He snorted, burying his nose in Ame's hair and rubbing her back softly.
Everything faded out except the sound of his breathing and heartbeat. It was the lullaby she came to love as she drifted off to sleep.
"Hey, no fair. Don't fall asleep on me."
She lifted her head, quirking her brow, "You always fall asleep on me, Belphie."
"Not intentionally. But know that..." Bringing his lips against her ear, he whispered, "... I often dream of you."
Giving her a lazy smile, he pulled back.
"You can always get out of trouble with that silver tongue of yours."
Despite playing tough, Ame felt her stomach burning.
She found his deliberate seduction equally dangerous as his unintentional one. He pulled out the big guns, and the way her heart hammered made it hard to resist.
"I'm in trouble? After I patiently waited for you while my brothers monopolized your free time?"
"Uh... Well..." She cursed in her mind for not being able to think of a comeback.
"It's alright," he held her gaze as he spoke, "I expect that you will make it up to me by spending the night here?"
Her muscles went taut for a second. Even if it was only sleeping side by side, the way he worded it scorched the butterflies in her stomach.
She managed to nod.
"Okay. Lay your head on my lap."
"Huh?"
"What? Not what you were expecting?"
Ame frowned, silently cursing for falling prey to his teasing. She would give him a piece of her mind... Later.
She lay her head on his lap, opening her tired eyes to catch his gentle gaze.
"I never told you this before, but your eyes..." Ame started.
"What about them?"
"They are beautiful."
"Hm... They are the same as Beel's. So I'm glad you think that."
"No... Yours are more-" She reached towards his cheek.
"Poisonous. Corrupted."
"Protective. Passionate."
He chuckled dryly, "You know what I'm capable of. What I did to you-"
"That's why I know." Interrupting him, she raised from his lap,
cupping her hands around his face.
His face twisted in anguish and remorse, lacerating her heart. She desperately wished to free him of the heartache, brokenness, and fear.
"That's why I forgave you. Your capacity to love is infinite."
He brought her hand to his mouth and kissed the pulse of her wrist.
"Thank you. I can never thank you enough for what you did. Sorry for bringing it up again."
"Belphie..."
"Hm?"
"I love you."
His lips cracked into a beautiful smile.
"I love you too."
As the words left his mouth, his lips touched hers in a feather-like kiss.
Fireworks went off through her body, and she froze. Again.
What the heck is wrong with me? I kissed him not long ago.
"That was a good night kiss," he yawned, resting on the bed.
She stared at him as he slowly sunk into slumber, suddenly realizing how hard he tried to stay awake for her sake.
"Heh."
As she joined him, he rolled closer to her, draping his arm around her waist. She pulled the blanket over them, settling into his warmth.
Every day was a struggle... But as long as they loved each other, it was worth fighting for the moments like these.
