Sarah beat the labyrinth, denied Jareth, and moved on with her life. Though Jareth was heartbroken he let her go. Sarah got married at 20 and had a baby at 22. The day the baby was a year old someone broke into Sarah and her husband's house and shot them. Her husband died instantly, but before Sarah died she called upon Jareth. Jareth appeared unknowing of the situation. He saw Sarah lying on the floor in a pool of blood. She pointed to the baby in the crib and said "Please take my daughter and raise her as your own." Jareth knew there was nothing he could do for Sarah but he assured her the child would want for nothing. He picked up the baby and left. Sarah finally died knowing her child was safe. Jareth let a single tear run down his cheek because the only woman he ever loved was gone. He didn't know that one day the little baby would grow up to be more beautiful than Sarah and that he would become possessive, obsessed, and madly in love with her.
