An Explanation
One of my ironclad rules while writing The Saga of Shirou's Summons is not to take requests. I'm dictated to by my muse, a voice I cannot control or even encourage with anything but music (and even that works rarely). Creating a full chapter out of virtually nothing but a name ("hey can you do muramasa") or an oft-repeated concept ("caster irisviel I want to see happy emiya family") is not something that works for her.
But one day—or perhaps one drunken night—I thought that maybe I could give requests a shot. I'd open myself up to members of my Discord community, let them throw prompts in my general direction, and see if I could make anything interesting. It kept my writing skills sharp in long breaks between updates, it made me more approachable to my community (hopefully), and it was a fun exercise.
The following is a collection for all of the prompts written during every "Sagafest", as someone coined them to be called. They have been done three times so far. The second time it happened, I also allowed my friends, the Loresingers, to answer some prompts. I directed which person got which prompt, and gave them complete freedom to answer it however they like. The first and third times I wrote every prompt answer myself. I will label all the ones that were not written by me and let you know who wrote them.
Please go into this with the understanding that all of these were written with a restriction in mind—either in time or in word count. Most of them are pretty short, not even a thousand words. I have not edited these at all, they will be published with any and all spelling and grammar errors and weird syntaxes and what have you. These are raw writings, or as raw as I and my team could get. But I hope you will find some joy in them nonetheless.
This will be updated once a day until I run out of prompt answers to publish, and then I'll update it any time we have another Sagafest. You are welcome to participate in such by joining the Discord server, invite code in my profile. They happen once every few months, so don't join with the expectation that you'll be able to throw prompts at me and instantly get a response. Some of them have actually gotten sprite comics made of them by one of the members of the Discord, Ruceris. I'll be attaching them to the appropriate story on AO3. For FFN readers, there's a collection of them pinned in the Discord.
And if you enjoyed what they did, make sure to check out the profiles of the Loresingers—links in my profile as well.
As always, thanks for reading.
