Marvel book

Libby's POV

Darkness... that's all I've ever known. After Hydra tourers me, they leave me in a dark room. I only know that the light means I'm going to get hurt, only my twin cares. Wild, my twin brother and I have only seen each other once, but we talk through the walls of the pitch black rooms. I also talk to Quicksilver, he is in a place where he can see a lot more than me, and he tells me about it. He keeps me sane.

I hear loud noises, and press myself to the wall to ask Quicksilver what's happening. He doesn't respond, he must be gone. The noise fades and I hear footsteps coming my way. "Yeah Cap, I heard a kid, those two must not be the only ones." A feminine voice says. My door opens and light floods into my room. I cower in a corner and glare definitely.

I must admit, I never saw all the scars on my body until she opened the door. The lady gasped and said, "Oh, you poor thing!" She reached out to pick me up but I screamed in fear. She touched her ear and said "Cap, come here please. This kid is terrified of me."

A man dressed like a flag showed up in five minutes, the whole time the lady was trying to comfort me. "Hey little guy." He said in a friendly voice. "We're friends, come on out." I narrowed my eyes and shook my head no.

He got closer to my height and said gently. "Sometimes, I feel better if I have something to protect myself with." He brought out his shield and held it out to me. "This is made of vibranium. Nothing can get past it, you can hold it if you want."

I grabbed it and hid behind it, I peeked out from behind it and saw they meant no harm. "No experiments?" I asked timidly. A look of horror past over the lady's face as the flag guy shook his head no. I permitted them to carry me outside.

And to my great horror, Ironman was outside waiting. "Cap, where did you get the kid?" He asked walking over. I started trying to get away, Tony Stark was a famous scientist, they tricked me! "Kid calm down!" Iron man said. I kept struggling, he pulled out a syringe and injected it into me. After awhile I fell into a sleep like comma.

Natasha's POV

"Tony!" Cap Yelled angrily. "She was sacred, why did you do that?" I yelled, equally angry. Tony held his hands up and said. "She almost got away! I saw you carry her out of a hydra base! Forgive me for thinking she was a threat!"

I glared at him before looking down at the small child in my arms. She couldn't be older than seven, she had dirty blonde hair and gold-green eyes. And scars... all over her tiny body. We walked carefully back to the ship. Everyone else was already on board. When we got on Bruce freaked out about Tony drugging a child... and who was going to take care of her. "I will!" I said.

When we got back I placed her in one of the guest rooms and locked the door. And why not? Bruce was right, and she could get hurt.

CHAPTER TWO

Libby's POV

I woke up in a strange room, mainly because I could see the light. Then I remembered, light means pain! I couldn't find a good place to hide, fortunately, the lady and flag guy from before showed up quickly. "Hey,Hey," the flag guy said gently. "We aren't going to hurt you remember?" I eyed them warily. "Do you want the shield again?" I nodded and grabbed it.

As I hid behind it, I watched them, they seemed to poise no threat. Suddenly a blonde man in a cape burst in yelling something. "Who stole my pot-tarts?!!". I ducked behind the shield again and made no noise. "Why is this small midguardian child hiding behind the patriotic captain's shield and making no noise?"He asked. "Most of them are very loud and playful."I poked my head out from behind the shield to observe them. "Thor," said the lady. "She's scared, stop being loud and be quiet."The noisy one left and I then was with the two who rescued me.

"I'm Natasha, and that's Steve" said Natasha. "What's your name?" I narrowed my eyes before saying. "Libiya Fireclaw."

I slowly handed over the shield and allowed myself to be unprotected. "Here," said Natasha. "I got you something." She held out a toy bear, I reached out for it. As I held it my hands got warm and I burned it on accident. I started to cry. "I'm s-Sorry." I whimpered.

"How did you do that?" Asked Natasha softly. "It's part of my powers," I said. "I create fire and it can't burn me. I can control it, mostly, but sometimes I can't.""Did you ever use it?" Asked Steve, I think a minute and nod. "I didn't like it though." I added. "Want to talk about it?"

Steve asked softly. I started to have a flashback. * My screams tore through the silence as electric shock racked through my body. "Well, I think you'll do." Said a hydra agent said with sadistic happiness in his voice. "If you do well on your first mission, I'll lessen how much pain you and your brother go through." I nodded in pain, wondering how I could possibly do anything in my weakened state.

"Another base needs a small child to go with their winter soldier, you, will go and do what needs to be done. Understood?" I nodded in fear. My first mission, I thought I would die.*

I snapped out of my trance and frantically shook my head no.

Chapter three

Libby's POV

Natasha and Steve walked down the hall and I followed quietly, like Pietro I didn't want to leave them. 'Unlike me to get attached so quickly,' I thought to myself. 'It took me weeks to get used to Pietro.' I stopped when they went down stairs and looked around me there was a room to the left of me, and nothing on my right. I peeked in and saw it was a lab. "Hello." Said a voice.

I jumped and looked around, there was no one. "Who are you?" I requested in fear. "I am J.A.R.V.I.S, do not be alarmed, I mean you no harm." I looked around and saw no one again, then a deep voice asked. "Where is your body?" I jumped and ran out.

I walked silently down the stairs and hid near Natasha, she had rescued me, she could protect me. I listened to people talking, especially the noisy one named Thor. As everyone left only my new friends and a few other people remained, one named Clint claimed Thor's hammer was a trick. Everyone but Natasha tried to lift it and the only one who made any progress was Steve. Seeing no harm here I stepped out of my hiding spot. "The first time I saw you, you couldn't lift it either, and you almost cried like a baby." I said. "Libiya," said Natasha in alarm. "How long were you down here." I shrugged, I honestly didn't know, I had no concept of time. "Let the small midgardian child try!" Declared Thor making me jump. I walked over and looked at it, it looked powerful and strong.

I knew at once I was not worthy. "I don't think I'm worthy." I whispered softly. "Come on kid," said Tony Stark. "See if you can do better than me." I grabbed the hammer and pulled as hard as I could, it moved about an inch. I then stopped,I was tired and weak from starvation and torture.

"The child is the most worthy, but none of you are worthy." Said Thor picking up his hammer. An eerie voice then cut through the silence. "Worthy. Of course not. How could you be?" One of iron man's suits came walking oddly out of the hall.

I shrank away in fear, that was the voice from before. I felt my hands spark, luckily no one noticed. "Must be a suit malfunction." Muttered Tony as he typed into a tablet. "Who sent you?" Demanded Thor angrily. The thing played a tape of Tony very clearly saying. "Peace in our time."

"Ultron," said someone new I had never seen before. "In the flesh, well not yet, but I'm ready." At once more things like that thing came out of the hall and attacked. My fear became uncontrollable and so did my fire. One of the drones tried to shoot me but I caught the bullet in my flame and directed it elsewhere. My fire caught some broken glass that almost hit me and I directed it away. Clint has gotten Steve's shield and now it wasn't necessary to use my fire, I recalled all of the flames and absorbed them back into my body.

But I had used too much power, I blacked out as I heard Steve say. "Nice work kid." I went out, I need rest to regain my much needed strength.

Pietro's POV

As Wanda and I walked to an abandoned church I tried to tell her we needed to find Libby. Libby was the experiment next to me, she was always thinking, talking, and asking questions. Wanda thought she was made up, like an imaginary friend. "She exists Wanda," I insisted. "Why would I make this up?" Wanda gave me an exasperated sigh. "Pietro," She said impatiently. "I get it. You were lonely, wanted a friend, made one up, and spent so much time with it that you've convinced yourself it's real. Stop talking about her." I sighed I hoped Wanda meets her someday.

Chapter four

Libby's POV

( in the lab)

I woke up to see Thor holding Tony by the throat. "Woah," said Tony. "Use your words." Thor growled and said. "I don't have enough words to describe you Stark." I got up and walked quietly over to them. "Whatever he's done is done," I said in a weak voice, still tired. "And we need him to fix it." Thor dropped Tony and Clint said. "You'd be right, if he knew how to stop it!"

"Killing him won't solve anything," I said softly. "Believe me I know." Everyone looked at me funny, then Steve asked. "You've been on missions?" I nodded. "How many?" Asked Natasha as I raised my head. "One, just one, only one."

"See?" Said Tony as if to defend himself. "The kid has done more damage than I have at the moment. In fact, you're from hydra, how can we trust you about the mission records?" I looked up and responded softly. "You shouldn't, but right now, I could be your only chance on getting hydra intel on the Maximoffs."

I walked a few steps away to the shadows and they started talking. "We have to bring her," said Tony. "We can't leave her alone, I don't trust her." Natasha sighed. "We can't take her with us! She's a kid! Let's leave her with agent Hill, she'll be fine."

Natasha walked over to me slowly, I watched her warily. "Hey," She said calmly. "We have to go fight the evil robot guy, so you're going to stay with a friend of mine, ok?" I nodded slowly, still getting used to people. After agent Hill had placed me in a room that was fireproof, she gave me something's to do while she was gone she told me to stay put and left. I looked around, there was no one else in there except me. There was a stuffed lion that, as soft as it was, was fireproof. There was also some building blocks and other stuffed animals, but I loved the lion best.

I heard something metal scrape the outside of the room, but disregarded it as nonsense. I didn't see the iron legion bot behind me."Hello," said Ultron. "Libiya, is it?" I jumped and whirled around to face him. "Oh, don't worry," he said calmly. "I'm not here to harm you." He was speaking through one of Tony's iron legions. "If" I said. "You have no harmful intentions, what do you want with me?" He chuckled. "I want to help you."

"Help me,"I asked. "Help me with what?" "Help you escape from your future." Was his response. "Did you really think you could stop being a killer on your own?" "I-I'm not a killer," I stammered. "I'll never kill anyone ever again."

He laughed. "Oh please, you were bred ,born, and raised to do nothing but murder and kill. Don't try to deny it, you've killed before, what's to stop you from doing it again?" I backed away and grabbed my head, horrible things flashed through it.

(kick) "worthless!" Yelled a guard. "You're a killer! Why didn't you kill them?! Your mother would be ashamed of such a helpless imp!" I wiggled away but the guard grabbed my shirt. "Your own father," He yelled. "Is hydra's best agent, the Winter Soldier himself!" He threw me onto the floor.

"What would your father say if he was here?! Stupid kid!" He gave me another kick.

"Kill them" no

"KILL THEM!" Make it stop!

"KILL THEM NOW!!!!!" *

"Kid?" Asked the iron legion. I looked up and fire grew out of my hands and hair. "I don't comply anymore." I said angrily as I blasted to pieces with my fire.

Ultron Pov*

I watched as the kid demolished the iron legion, she would be of help if I could convince her to join me. "She'll see," I muttered. "She'll join eventually."

Libby's POV

I looked down at the melting metal being burned be my fire in alarm. "No," I whispered near silent. "No." I recalled my fire and whimpered. "I'm a monster..." I started to cry quietly. "I'm a monster" I sobbed over and over.

Agent Hill came back and saw me. She held me while I sobbed then said. "Fury is going to see Natasha. I don't think I'll be blamed if you sneak on." She took me to car. "Stay hidden, you'll get to Natasha soon." I looked up and whimpered. "But I'm a monster." Hill shook her head. "Ask Natasha," She said. "If she thinks you're a monster. I think you'll be surprised."She then closed the door and walked away.

Chapter four

Libby's POV

After waiting awhile, I fell asleep, after a few hours as I guessed, Fury and I reached a farm. He got out and after a few moments, so did I. Steve was cutting wood,Natasha was inside,Thor was gone, Tony was apparently talking to Fury, and Clint apparently lived here. I walked silently into the house and sat near Natasha, unbeknownst to her. After a while, Fury, Steve, Clint, and Tony came in the house too. "Wha-" said Tony as he caught a glimpse of me. "I thought we left the kid with Hill!" Natasha looked at me shocked, Steve had an impressed look, and Clint, he pretended this was normal.

I just shrugged, the less said now, the better. Fury continued to ignore me and started telling us about Ultron. "Ultron took you folks out of play to buy himself some time.My contacts all say he's building something. The amount of Vibranium he made off with, I don't think it's just one thing." "What about Ultron himself? Asked Steve. "Ah," said Fury. "He's easy to track, he's everywhere. Guy's multiplying faster than a catholic rabbit. Still doesn't help us get an angle on his plans though." "He's still going after nuclear codes?" Asked Tony, Fury nodded.

"Yes, He is. But he's not making any headway." "That doesn't make ANY sense." I said nervously. "I know for a fact Tony cracked the Pentagon's firewall on a dare in high school." Tony looked at me weird. "How the heck did you know that?" He asked, I just shrugged again. "Yeah, well I contacted our friends at the NEXUS about that." Fury said calmly, not at all confused at how well I knew about Tony's personal life. "NEXUS?" Asked Steve confused.

"The world's internet hub. Every bit of data flows through it, fastest access on earth." I elaborated for him. "For someone who has been in a cell almost their entire life, you sure know a lot about the world you're in." Said Clint. "What did they say?" "He's fixated on the missiles, but the codes are constantly being changed." Answered Fury.

"By whom?" Asked Tony. "Party's unknown," came Fury's response. "We have an ally?" Asked Natasha eagerly. "Ultron's got an enemy, not the same thing. Still I'd pay folding money to know who it is." "I need to find our 'unknown'."

Muttered Tony. Natasha sighed. "Well this is good times boss, but I had hoped when I saw you, you'd have more than that." "I do," said Fury in pride and determination. "I have you guys, plus a child. Here we are back on earth, with both but our wit and our will to save the world. So stand. Outwit the platinum ba-" he stopped when he saw me. "It's ok," I said. "I know all the bad words anyway."

Natasha laughed then I shook my head, I sensed something. "So, what does he want." Asked Fury. My eyes started glowing gold. A flash back, please no. *The winter soldier stared at me and I stared back, his eyes looked cold and emotionless. 'This is my father.' I thought as we were on our first mission. "What do you want?!" spat a guard at me as he kicked me. The winter soldier glared at the man but said nothing, he and I both wore muzzles, to prevent us from going crazy.* my brain stopped the old flashback to start one of me wearing the muzzle for the first time. * "You must always wear this." Said a guard poisonously. "We can't have anyone going rouge, now can we?" The muzzle was unbearable, it held my jaws in one position and made me unable to use them. Training was harder too, I couldn't open my mouth to breathe or pant.*

I snapped out of it just as Clint asked if I was coming too. 'I still have my hydra outfit to work with' I thought. In all honesty, it was designed so I would remember I needed control, the muzzle and coat were both black. And the coat was designed to look like an 80's straightjacket. "Yes," I said. Just let me suit up."

Chapter six

Libby's POV

We were in a plane thing they called the Quinjet, trying to stop Ultron from making himself a body and evolving. And according to Steve, after he found Dr.Cho, he already had. But we could still stop him from uploading himself onto it. "Is the muzzle necessary?" Asked Clint. "I mean isn't it really uncomfortable?" As I couldn't speak, I nodded. "I got a private jet taking off across town," said Natasha through the comms. "no manifest. That could be him." Clint noticed a truck leaving the lab he told Steve

"There. It's the truck from the lab. Right above you, Cap. On the loop by the bridge. It's them. I got three with the Cradle, one in the cab. I could take out the driver." Steve's response was thoughtful.

"Negative! If that truck crashes, the gem could level the city. We need to draw out Ultron." Ultron blasted the truck door to keep Steve from getting in."Well, he's definitely unhappy! I'm gonna try and keep him that way." Steve said in a pained voice.

"You're not a match for him, Cap." Said Clint nervously. "I'm sending the kid down." "Thanks, Barton." Came the half sarcastic response. Clint opened the Quinjet so I could jump out, and yes, he made sure I had a parachute on. I landed in time to help Steve with a train. Pietro smiled at me, but we didn't get to say hello to each other, not that I could have anyway. "Civilians in our path." Said Steve in alarm. Pietro speeded off to save them.

"Can you two stop this thing?" Steve asked me and another girl. I used the sparks the train was making to create fire, I could move things that were on fire and caught the brakes on fire. To try to use the brakes. The girl was apparently doing the same thing. It took a bit but we did it, afterwards we found Pietro, very out of breath. "I'm fine," he said. "I just need a minute."

"I'm very tempted not to give you one." Said Steve angrily. "Did you get the cradle?" Asked the girl. "Stark will take care of it." Said Steve calmly. "No," She said. "He won't." "You don't know what you're talking about. Stark's not crazy!" "Ultron can't tell the difference between destroying the world and saving it. Where do you think he gets that?" That last comment shut everyone up. I took off my muzzle, I needed to ask a question. "So," I said calmly. "Any ideas on how to get back and stop Tony from doing something stupid?"

(Little time skip)

We took the private plane that Ulton almost used to get back to the tower. We snuck into it and I heard Tony say. "This framework is not compatible." "The genetic coding tower's at ninety-seven percent. You have got to upload that schematic in the next three minutes" said Bruce. We walked into the room as Steve stated. "I'm gonna say this once."

"How about "nonce"?" Responded Tony calmly. "Shut it down!" Demanded Steve. "Nope, not gonna happen." Tony said determinedly."You don't know what you're doing." Said Steve in alarm.

"And you do?" Asked Bruce nervously."She's not in your head?" The girl, who turned out to be Pietro's sister, said calmly."I know you're angry.""Oh, we're way past that. I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade." Snapped Bruce. I stepped in front of her to protect her, I didn't know her, but she was obviously important to Pietro.

"Banner, after everything that's happened..." said Steve in exasperation. "That's nothing compared to what's coming!" Yelled Tony.

"You don't know what's in there!" Yelled the girl. "This isn't a game..." Yelled Steve angrily. "The creature...!" Yelled the girl. Pietro sped around the room and destroyed the lab equipment.

"No, no. Go on. You were saying?"suddenly Barton shot a bullet below causing the glass Pietro was standing to stand to smash and he fell through. "Pietro!" The girl yelled I tried to yell too but my muzzle prevented me. "What? You didn't see that coming?" Said Clint.

"Go ahead, piss me off." Said Bruce. Just then Thor entered and pounded the cradle with his hammer, sending a powerful bolt of lightning that brought the body to life. "Wait!" Yelled Bruce in alarm. The cradle burst open and a person came out and tried to choke Thor. Thor threw him off to a nearby pane of glass, he stopped just before he hit it.

"I'm sorry, that was...odd." He said. "Thank you.""Thor, you helped create this?" Asked Steve. "I've had a vision. A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life and at it's center is that." Said Thor as he pointed to the gem inside Vision's head.

"What, the gem?" Asked Bruce in confusion.

"It's the Mind Stone. It's one of the six Infinity Stones, the greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities." Said Thor calmly.

"Then why would you bring it to..." Steve began to ask. "Because Stark is right." Thor cut him off. "Oh, it's definitely the end times." Groaned Bruce.

"The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron." Said Thor. "Not alone." Said Vision. "Why does your "vision" sound like JARVIS?" Asked Steve. "We...we reconfigured JARVIS' matrix to create something new." Tony said nervously.

"I think I've had my fill of new." Said Steve.

"You think I'm a child of Ultron?" Asked Vision. "You're not?" Demanded Steve.

"I'm not Ultron. I'm not JARVIS. I am...I am." Vision stated calmly. "I looked in your head and saw annihilation." Said the girl. "Look again." Challenged Vision.

"Yeah. Her seal of approval means jack to me." Said Clint angrily. "Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone, and they're nothing compared to what it can unleash. But with it on our side..." said Thor. "Is it?" Asked Steve. "Are you? On our side?" Vision paused before replying. "I don't think it's that simple."

"Well it better get real simple real soon." Said Clint angrily. "I am on the side of life. Ultron isn't, he will end it all." "What's he waiting for?" "You."

"Where?" Asked Bruce. "Sokovia. He's got Nat there too." Clint said. I ripped my muzzle off and said. "If we don't leave in ten minutes to get her," I said in rage. "I'm going by myself, and I will not need any help killing Ultron!"

"If we're wrong about you, if you're the monster that Ultron made you to be..." Bruce said. "What will you do?" Vision Demanded "I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique, and he's in pain. But that pain will roll over the earth, so he must be destroyed. Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net, we have to act now. And not one of us can do it without the others." He looked at himself "Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are, and not what you intended. So there may be no way to make you trust me. But we need to go."he held up Thor's hammer and handed it to him,As Vision walked away everyone stared in shock.

"Right." Said Thor as he patted Stark on the shoulder. "Good work."Steve turned to us and said. "Three minutes. Get what you need." As we got ready, I turned to the girl to introduce myself. "Hi," I said. "I'm Libby." She stared at me before turning to Pietro in shock. She turned back to me after a minute and said. "I'm Wanda."

Tony took my muzzle to upgrade it so I could open my mouth. "No way we all get through this. If even one tin soldier is left standing, we've lost. It's gonna be blood on the floor." He said to us. "I got no plans tomorrow night." Said Steve as a joke.

"I get first crack at the big guy. Iron Man's the one he's waiting for." Said Tony. "That's true, he hates you the most." Said Vision as he walked past. "Ultron knows we're coming. Odds are we'll be riding into heavy fire, and that's what we signed up for. But the people of Sokovia, they didn't. So our priority is getting them out." Said Steve as he instructed me on what to do. Little did I know, very soon, my heart would feel like it was ripped to pieces.

Chapter seven

Pietro' POV

"We're under attack! Clear the city, now!" I yelled as I ran in and out of the police station. No one took this seriously so I returned, took a shotgun and started shooting in the air. "Get off your asses." Wanda used her mind powers on the people of Sokovia to get them to evacuate.

I thought about what Steve had told us about the mission. That was our mission, Wanda, Libby, and I had to get them out safely before the fight. This was our chance to do the right thing."All they want is to live their lives in peace, and that's not going to happen today. But we can do our best to protect them." Steve told us. "And we can get the job done, and find out what Ultron's been building. We find Romanoff, and we clear the field. Keep the fight between us. Ultron thinks we're monsters and we're what's wrong with the world. This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right."

Ultron was wrong, and we would prove it.

Libby's POV

"Natasha!" Said Bruce, unaware I was following him. "Natasha!""Bruce?" Asked Natasha in shock. "You alright?" He asked as he walked over to Her cell.

"Yeah." She said.

"The team's in the city, it's about to light up." Said Bruce. "That metal boy better be ready for when I get my hands on him." I growled, Bruce jumped and turned to me. "No matter how many times you pop up unexpectedly, I'll never get used to it." Said Natasha. Then then she turned to Bruce."I don't suppose you found a key lying around somewhere?"

"Yeah, I did." He said as he held up a gun and blasted the cell door open. "So what's our play?" Asked Natasha, ready to fight. "I'm here to get you to safety." Bruce said. "And now Libby too, apparently." "I'm not leaving." I said calmly. "And none of you can straight up make me."

" Kid's right." Natasha agreed. "Job's not finished." "We could help with the evacuation, but I can't be in a fight near civilians." Said Bruce. "And you've done plenty. Our fight is over."

"So we just disappear?" Asked Natasha. "Well," I said. "I'm going to help Wanda and Pietro. You guys are welcome to join me though." I started walking away and was quickly out of sight. "Kid!" Said Bruce anxiously. Then I was out of earshot.

'Man,' I thought. "Good thing Hydra got me to memorize those maps of the underground tunnels of all those cities.'My head popped up into the light from a rain drain, just as robots started attacking the city. "Go!" Yelled Steve to the evacuees still in the city. "Get off the bridge! Run!" Wanda yelled "Wanda!" I Yelled to her. She turned to me in shock. "Libiya! You need to leave!" She Yelled back. "No," I said. "If I was born to fight, I'm going to fight for a cause I would want to die for." The robots had heat rising from them. I lit one on fire and tore it apart from the inside.

"See?" Asked Ultron through another one. "You're still a monster. It's not too late, you can still join me." I looked at it and responded. "Yes, I'm a monster. But only to you. I'm your worst nightmare." I tore it apart too. Wanda stared at me. "We have work to do," I said calmly. "Rip these things apart and watch each other's backs. We'd better be good at both if we want to leave alive."

I tore apart one that was behind her. We followed each other's lead, destroy one, set fire to three more. "Cap, you got incoming." Said Tony through the comms. "Incoming already came in." Steve said "Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely. The rest of us have one job: tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt 'em back. You get killed, walk it off." "Will do, Cap." I said into my comm link. I saw Clint and Wanda go into an old building and followed.

"Go, go, move!" He yelled to us. "How could I let this happen? Wanda broke down. "Hey, hey, you okay?" Asked Clint.

"This is all our fault." Wanda sobbed.

"Hey, look at me. It's your fault, it's everyone's fault, who cares." Said Clint. "Are you up for this? Are you? Look, I just need to know, cause the city is flying. Okay, look, the city is flying, we're fighting an army of robots, and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense. But I'm going back out there because it's my job. Okay? And I can't do my job and babysit. It doesn't matter what you did, or what you were. If you go out there, you fight, and you fight to kill. Stay in here, you're good, I'll send your brother to come find you, but if you step out that door, you are an Avenger."Wanda just looked at him." Alright , good chat.Yeah, the city is flying."

Clint said as he left us. "Wanda," I said gently, she looked up at me. "I know you're scared, I'm scared too. This is how I saw my mother die, but if I don't do this someone else's mother could die, or their brother, or sister. I'm going out there with Clint, I can't watch your back unless you're with me. If you're ready come with us, if not, Pietro will be here soon." I started walking away. "Your choice, I can't make it for you."

I walked out to where Clint was shooting arrows and blasted a robot behind him with my fire. Clint turned to look at me. "Welcome to the team fireclaw." He said. "It's Wildfire now." I said. He smiled and continued firing arrows. Wanda came out and helped us. "I knew you had it in you!" I yelled over the noise.

"Alright, we're all clear here." Clint reported through the comm link. "We are not clear! We are very not clear!" Yelled Steve. "Alright, coming to you." Said Clint. Just then Pietro sped in, picked up Wanda and said. "Keep up old man! Catch you later Libby!" As he ran off.Barton held his arrow and aimed it at Pietro.

"Nobody would know. Nobody. "The last I saw him, when Ultron was sitting on him."He muttered, then he looked at me. "I didn't hear a thing." I said with a smirk. He smirked back. "We're gonna get along fine, kid." He said. Then we started jogging through the rubble. "Uh... yeah he'll be missed the quick, little bastard, I miss him already." Clint added.

I then heard Fury's voice through the comms. "Glad you like the view, Romanoff. It's about to get better.Nice, right? I pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do." "Fury, you son of a bitch." Said Steve. "Language!" I yelled into the comm link. "Oooh! You kiss your mother with that mouth, Steve?" Asked Fury. "Nice kid!" He added, Steve groaned.

I watched Clint's back all the way to the others, I was not going to lose a single member of my new family if I could help it. "Alright, let's load 'em up! Alright, here we go. Here we go, let's move. Let's go everyone!" Yelled Clint as we loaded the helicopters. "Thor, I got a plan!" Yelled Tony. "We're out of time. They're coming for the core." Thor responded.

"Rhodey, get the rest of the people on board that carrier." Said Tony to the new iron man guy. "On it." He responded. "Avengers, time to work for a living." Said Tony. Pietro soon showed up with the rest of the team. "You good?" He asked Wanda and I.

"Yeah." She said. "I'll probably never want to see another robot again," I responded jokingly. "But I'm good!"

"Is that the best you can do?" Yelled Thor.

"You had to ask." Said Steve as Ultron summoned his army. "This is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you, against all of me. How could you possibly hope to stop me?" Ultron asked."Well, like the old man said. Together." Said Tony. We started fighting the robots I held one down just so I could say. "You've made me mad enough with kidnapping Natasha. Just make me a little more angry, and I'm certain that we'll win easily." I then blasted it to pieces.

"You know, with the benefit of hindsight... "suddenly Hulk knocked him far away and his army started retreating.

"They'll try to leave the city." Said Thor.

"We can't let 'em, not even one. Rhodey!" Said Tony. "We gotta move out. Even I can tell the air is getting thin. You guys get to the boats, I'll sweep for stragglers, be right behind you." Said Steve.

"What about the core?" Asked Clint. "I'll protect it. It's my job." Said Wanda.

As we ran for the helicopters Clint started thinking about another home project. "I know what I need to do. The dining room! If I knock out that east wall, it'll make a nice work space for Laura, huh? Put up some baffling, she can't hear the kids running around, what do you think?" He asked.

"You guys always eat in the kitchen anyway." Said Natasha. "No one eats in a dining room." Said Clint. When we reached the helicopters, he said. "We don't have a lot of time." "So get your asses on a boat." She said. She ran off and Clint and I were about to board when we heard someone yelling for their brother.

"Costel? We were in the market. Costel?!" She yelled. Clint ran to find the boy and I followed. As Barton and I were saving the boy, Costel, Ultron started shooting at us but Pietro intervened and took the shots to save us. "Pietro!" The word was torn from my throat.

"You didn't see that coming." He said as a joke. Then he fell to the ground as he died. I walked over to him, just as I had when my mother was killed. I fell on my knees. "Pietro?" I asked like I didn't know he was dead. "Wake up, please!" I started sobbing. "Please, we gotta go home! Wake up, please Pietro!" Clint picked me up. "No, please!" I whispered between sobs.

I was suddenly overcome with rage. "That was my brother." I growled. "Ultron will feel my pain." I jumped up to find Wanda. Every Ultron in my way was quickly blasted apart by my fire. I soon found her and we went to find Ultron together. "Wanda, if you two stay here, you'll die." He said.

"We already have" I growled. "Do you know how it felt?" Wanda asked,She used her power to rip Ultron's core out of his body as I threw fire at him. "It felt like that." She said, suddenly there was a huge shockwave and lightning flew to the church. Vision flew in soon and picked up Wanda and I and flew off with as the city was being destroyed.

He got us to a helicopter and left us to destroy Ultron. On the ride I curled up to Wanda and started sobbing, she hugged me and started crying too. "He was my brother!" I sobbed. "Mine too." Sobbed Wanda. "But I've gained a little sister." I hugged her back and we rode back that way.

When we got back I followed Steve, Thor, and Tony around. I was literally right there and they couldn't see me. "The rules have changed." Said Steve."We're dealing with something new." Said Tony. "Well, the Vision's artificial intelligence." "A machine.""So it doesn't count."

"No. It's not like a person lifting the hammer." "Right. Different rules for us."

"Nice guy, but artificial.""Thank you." Said Steve . "If he can wield the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone. It's safe with the Vision and these days, safe is in short supply." Said Thor."But if you put the hammer in an elevator..." said Steve."It would still go up." Said Tony."Elevator's not worthy." Said Steve.

"I'm going to miss these little talks of ours." Said Thor. "Well, not if you don't leave." Tony countered. "I have no choice. The Mind Stone is the fourth of the Infinity Stones to show up in the last few years. That's not a coincidence. Someone has been playing an intricate game and has made pawns of us. But once all these pieces are in position..." said Thor

"Triple Yahtzee?" Asked Tony. "You think you can find out what's coming?" Asked Steve."I do. Besides this one, there's nothing that can't be explained."Thor then returned to Asgard which burned a circle in the grass he was standing on.

"That man has no regard for lawn maintenance. I'm gonna miss him though. And you're gonna miss me. There's gonna be a lot of manful tears." "He will be missed." I said, they jumped. "Tony on the other hand, will not."

Steve laughed, then said. "I will miss you, Tony.""Yeah? Well, it's time for me to tap out. Maybe I should take a page out of Barton's book and build Pepper a farm, hope nobody blows it up." Muttered Tony.

"The simple life." Sighed Steve."You'll get there one day." Promised Tony. "I don't know, family, stability. The guy who wanted all that went in the ice seventy-five years ago. I think someone else came out." Steve responded. Stark turned to get into his car.

"You alright?" Tony asked. "I'm home." Steve responded. As Stark drove away Steve turned to me. "Where you gonna go?" He asked. I smiled. "I think I found where I belong, I might just stick around to find out." I responded.

"It's not gonna be easy." Said Steve. "I wouldn't stay if it was." I smirked. "And Steve, I'm Wildfire now."

Chapter eight

Libby's POV

I was going to school for the first time. "This is a bad idea Wanda." I told her as we both got ready to go to our school. "You'll be fine," She said. "I believe in you." "I wish I had that super power." I joked. She went to a different school from me and I had to take a bus.

Natasha has told me something before I left. "You better not EVER start a fight, but if someone starts a fight with you, you better finish it!" The bus arrived and Wanda gently pushed me on. "Have a good day." She told me as the doors closed.

I went to the back of the bus and everyone stared at me. At the next stop we picked up a boy with short brown hair, brown eyes, and a striped shirt. He walked back and sat next to me. "Hi," He said. "I'm Matthew. What's your name?"

"Libiya," I said. "But you can call me Libby." "What kind of name is Libiya?" Demanded a sandy haired boy. "It sounds stupid! What does it even mean?"

"Names are supposed to mean something?" I blurted in surprise. Every one laughed at me. "Leave her alone Harley!" Snapped Matthew. "She's new."

Harley rolled his eyes and turned around.

"Don't pay him any attention." Said Matthew. "He's nothing but a bully, I'll watch your back." I smiled and he smiled back. When we arrived at school I walked straight to my classroom, Matthew had the same class, I sat next to Matthew. The teacher walked up to the front. "Ok kids." She said let's start with a simple game. You tell me what your parents do." She scanned the room and picked me. I shook my head. "Don't be shy," She said. "Come up here and tell us." I walked to the front and mumbled. "I can't hear you."

Said Harley. I looked him dead in the eye and said clearly. "My parents are dead, I'm adopted."Everyone stares at me. "Ok," said the teacher. "Well what do they do?" "Save the world." I said. "They're the avengers." The class gasped in amazement. "Oh sweetie," said the teacher. "I'm sure your new family is amazing, but I'm sure their not the avengers. What do they do?" I repeated my response.

"That's it," Snapped the teacher. "Detention!" After classes were over we had lunch. Harley tripped me in the lunch room. "Oops," He snickered. "Looks like the shield agent isn't as watchful as we thought." And he ran off. Me and Matthew played at recess, we used our imaginations, mostly his, because I had never made stuff up before.

After school I went to the detention thingy. It was horrible, all my torture in hydra could not compare to listening to Steve talk about rules an how cool they are. Clint picked me up. "What happened?" He asked. "You set fire to the teacher's desk?"

"No," I said coldly. Clint let it drop. "I saw Steve's rapping with cap video." Clint gave me a look of simpithy. We drove the rest of the way home in silence. When we got back I walked up to Steve. He gave me the look of disappointment, for stars sake, he didn't even know what happened. "I saw your rapping with Cap Video." I said, his eyes widened.

"Can you back that up?" I asked. "Last I heard Mr.back alley hero, you never followed a rule in your life." Clint laughed. "What did you even do?" Asked Steve in exasperation. I looked him dead in the eyes. "I told them you guys were my family." Steve's eyes lost the disappointed

Look.

Wanda soon rushed in. "What did you do,malen'kaya l'vitsa?" She asked. Steve sighed. "She called us her family." He said. "Guys," said Clint. "Got an idea." I walked away as he was explaining it, I didn't care. I was miserable.

The next day was worse but Matthew stood up for me. At the end of the day all the kids were staring at my family. "Libiya!" Called Natasha. You ready to go home?"I ran up and gave her a hug. "Thank you." I whispered. "It was nothing, malen'kaya l'vitsa." Said Natasha. "Let's go home." We all walked home, everyone was there, with the exception of Thor. After we got home we played some games and Wanda and I talked, mostly about Pietro, we still missed him badly.

As I went to bed I remembered how Steve told me my mom was in space somewhere, I think he called it heaven. "I don't know if you remember me mom," I whispered. "But I want to say that I have a family now, and that I'll miss you." I then fell asleep next to my window, watching the stars.

Chapter nine

Libby's POV

It was the weekend, after a few months of school. The fact is, I lived for weekends, if just to be a hero for a few hours. I was the only thing keeping thugs in line, it was a huge job. There I was, seven years old, trained by hydra, ready to die for someone else. That was all I ever wanted in my life, to do the right thing.

"I'm going out to play!" I yelled to Steve when I got home. "Be careful!" He called back. I went to the back and got into my suit. It was the same so I'd need to fix it, I planned on making it red and orange.

I slipped out of the yard though a rain grate, tunneled a few blocks away, and started checking the alleys. These things were dangerous and dark, they could conceal anything. 'Including me.' I thought to myself. I heard the sound of a fight a few alleys away and headed towards it. There were four guys there, three thugs against a boy in a badly made costume. I unsheathed my pocket knife and walked in.

"Hey," I said loud enough to get their attention. They turned toward me. "Leave now," I said. "Or you'll run later." They laughed and said. "Beat it kid, this doesn't concern you." I growled from my muzzle, and roundhouse kicked one in the face, effortlessly knocking him on the ground. The boy seemed to get the idea and punched another guy into the wall.

I held one down, not remembering the third guy who came at me with a knife. The boy shot something out of his arm and stuck the guy to a nearby wall. I knocked the guy beneath me unconscious, and held the last guy down as the boy webbed him up. "Thanks," said the boy. "I'm Spider-Man, by the way."

"More like 'Spider-boy' with that fighting style." I responded. "I'm Wildfire." He backed up a few steps. "The ex-hydra agent?" He asked in surprise.

I groaned, why did everyone have to ask that. "Yes," I growled. "And no. That was fireclaw, I'm Wildfire. Good bye." I turned and left,Went back through the drain, and got out of the suit. I went inside as if I hadn't been a hero ten minutes before. That was what counted, saving people. And I had finished doing that.

Chapter ten

Libby's POV

"malen'kaya l'vitsa," said Natasha. "Wake up!" I woke up after Natasha pushed me out of bed, I growled as I hit the floor. "Natasha," I whined. "I need sleep, can't you wake up Clint?" She shook her head.

"Don't you remember what today is?" She asked. "Wednesday?" I asked sleepily. "No," she laughed. "It's your birthday, silly!" I looked up at her in confusion. "What is a birthday?" I asked.

Natasha laughed again and said. "It's a celebration of the day you were born. Or, in your case, the day you came to live with us." I wasn't sure why we should celebrate that but Natasha was not to be questioned. I woke up and put on my new shirt. It was red and black.

And it was still the only fireproof thing I had to wear. Tony and I had tried to recreate the fabric but so far had no success. As I walked down the hall I ran into Wanda. "Hi Wanda." I said calmly. She smiled at me. "Hello, malen'kaya l'vitsa." She said. "Are you ready to have a happy birthday?"

"I don't know what it is." I responded. "But I'm ready for anything." Steve wished me a happy birthday, as did everyone else. And Clint walked me to the bus stop. "Libby," he said. "I know this doesn't mean much to you, but I'm happy we get to show you something that is about you." "Cap must be very popular." I said to Clint. "On his birthday, people blow stuff up." Clint laughed and put me on the bus.

"Hey, shield agent!" Called Harley. "What are you doing outside the compound?" "Shut it Harley!" Said Matthew angrily. I sat next to him, we were best friends. "Hey Matt," I said "today's my birthday." "Happy birthday!" He said happily.

"So what am I supposed to do? I've never done this before." I asked curiously. "Have fun!" Laughed Matthew. We went to class and Matthew told the teacher it was my birthday. I honestly felt uncomfortable with all the attention.

At gym, we had the Captain America fitness challenge, which I passed almost effortlessly. I had been doing the same thing for years, I finished in three minutes flat. At lunch I had my new favorite food, pizza. After school, my family came to pick me up, in full avengers dress. At home Steve took me aside. "Libiya," He said. "On your birthday, your family give you things. To show you they love you, I want to give you one from me." He pulled out a small box from behind him.

"Open it!" He urged me. I did, and inside the box there was a miniature version of his shield attached to a chain. As he put it on me he said. "I thought you might like a shield of your own, to make you brave." I hugged him. "Thank you." I whispered.

After the festivities were over me and Wanda sat on the roof, watching the stars. "Libby," She said. "I want to know, well, you were always trying to do the right thing, and you could have walked away, why didn't you?" "I couldn't," I responded. "Not after what my mother made me promise." "Oh?" Asked Wanda.

"Yes," I whispered. "It was the attack on New York, I was five. Loki's army was running wild in the streets, the avengers were doing their best to stop them but it wasn't enough. Mother hid me and my brother in an ally, then ran out to help. She had been a KGB agent, trained with Natasha. She held up for a while, but one got the best of her, she-she."

Wanda's POV has

Libiya was crying, obviously because of her memory. I looked into her mind, what I saw was horrible.

"Libby," said a blonde woman weakly. "Yes mommy?" Asked a younger version of Libby. "Always remember," the woman said. "There are only two kinds of people in the world, good and bad. And it doesn't matter their race, religion, or how they look, what matters is if they are good."

"I'll remember mommy." Said Libby in a scared voice. "And Libiya," said her mother. "Promise me, if someone is drowning, you will save them." "But I can't swim mommy!" Said Libby in a distressed voice. "

"You must do something." Said her mother. "You must not let them drown, promise me, my little lioness." "I promise mommy." The woman stopped breathing. "Mommy?" Asked Libiya. "Mommy, wake up!"*

Chapter eleven

Libby's POV

I was walking home, the avengers had told me that I was used to it enough. As I walked I saw spider boy swing by, he had gotten better with his powers. I felt a spark of mischief flow through me as I sent an ember to burn a bit of the web he was swinging from. It snapped and he flew straight into a billboard. I burst out laughing, he looked up in confusion.

As he didn't see anyone out of place, he continued swinging from his webs. As I got home Clint shot my head with his nerf gun, I sighed, Clint never would learn. His favorite thing to do was hide in the ceiling tiles and shoot at people. I got my little nerf gun, also from Clint, and loaded it with the bullet he shot me with. I sat in the living room, doing nothing, waiting for Clint. As Tony came in I heard a tile move.

"Caw,caw!" I said and shoot in the direction of the noise. What I didn't think would happen, was the bullet actually hitting Clint in the forehead and him falling out of the ceiling, onto a very sleep deprived Tony. But that's actually what happened. "What the heck Libby!!!" Yelled Clint in surprise. "You had it coming." Said Natasha. "You've shot her once, and she's already had enough of that."

Wanda came in laughing so hard she was crying. "Great shot!" She said as she high fives me. "It would have been better," grumbled Tony. "If Clint hadn't fallen onto her favorite person." I shook my head and said. "No Tony, you're my second favorite person, everyone else is tied for first." Tony gave me his offended look and Clint laughed.

Chapter twelve

Libby's POV

I was in school, Matthew, Brian, Julia, and I were talking about our favorite avengers. "Mine is definitely Tony." Said Brian confidently. "He's the smartest. Libby, what do you think of him?" "I try not to think of him ever!" I responded as I laughed. "What about you Matt?"

"Eh,I like Hawkeye," said Matthew. "Do you like him Libby?" I nodded and said. "I call him Uncle Clint, he's my second favorite avenger. Who's your favorite Julia?""I like the black widow," said Julia. "I love Natasha," I said happily. "I think of her as my mom, but I'd never tell her and you better not tell her I said that."

"So,"asked Brian. "Who's your favorite avenger? Is it Natasha?" I shook my head. "As much as I love her," I answered. "It's got to be Captain America. I held his shield, and it's awesome."

"You're so lucky," said Matthew. "You get to live with Earth's mightiest heroes, That is so cool! I wish I could meet them."

"If you want to," I said slowly. "Steve told me if you want, you can come over today. I'm pretty sure everyone except Thor will be there."

"YES!!!" They all yelled in excitement. After school we walked to my home, discussing my life before shield and the avengers found me. After I was done Julia said. "That sounds horrible!" I nodded. "It was a real party!" I said in agreement. When we arrived Clint tried to shoot me from the ceiling again and I caught the bullet.

"Try harder, Uncle Clint," I said. "If you actually want to hit me." The tile went back. Natasha and Wanda came to greet us. "Hi, guys!" I said happily. Wanda smiled and said. "Who are your friends?"

"I'm Matthew" said my bestie. "Oh, said Natasha . "You're the one Libiya is always talking about." "I'm Brian, and that's Julia." Said Brian happily. "Libiya, Steve made cookies, if you hurry, you can get some before Clint does."

After some cookies, talking to my family, showing them my gear, and dodging nerf bullets. Tony took them home in one of his cars. After we got home I went to my room and took out a picture of my brother. "I miss you Wild,"I murmured sleepily. "I'll find you someday, just you wait."

Wild's POV

"Soldier?" Asked my officer. "Ready to comply." I responded, they had not erased my memory, just tortured me until I did everything they said. "The Avengers are planning to raid a base of ours," he said. "They will ruin all our research. You need to stop them, their weakest link is a hero called Wildfire. If possible, take her out. Understood?"

I nodded, then asked. "Do I know her?" My officer glared. "Even if you did," he growled. "You will take her out. She is a target, nothing more." I nodded. "Get ready." He ordered. I went to grab my gear, as I did I heard two guards talking.

"If his twin had been transferred, our saying would seem prophetic." One said. "What do you mean?" Demanded the other. "Cut off one head," said the first. "Two more shall take its place. He is one of the twin children the Winter Soldier fathered." I grimaced, I had only seen my father once, seen my mother murdered by Loki's army, and had my twin ripped from me as soon as our father got us to the base.

"He looks almost just like his father." Remarked one. "Hopefully he's as good a killer." I looked up at him and stared. (Here's what he looks like.)

"His regeneration powers should make him a better one," said the first one. "And his mother was almost equal to the black widow." They continued talking about my heritage as they walked down the hall.

I walked to the truck silently and got on. We were going to do those avengers one better then they could fix.

Chapter thirteen

Libby's POV

"Memorial Day weekend, guys!" Clint yelled. "Yeah, and we got a mission." Said Cap. "What is Memorial Day?" I asked Wanda. "It's to honor our fallen heroes." Responded Steve. "We're mopping up another hydra base."

"I'm on board with that!" I called out happily, Wanda agreed. "Our job is to get its information and destroy it." Said Steve. "Any experiments on people need to be reported, got it Libiya? No killing agents unless necessary." I rolled my eyes, as I regarded life as special and I had no right to take it.

"Suit up people," said Steve. "We're going to be riding into fire." I geared up with my new suit, it was still like a straightjacket and mostly black, but I had gotten red and orange flames, like hot rods, on the sides. My muzzle was all black and fit so I could speak. My knives had been 'gifted' with new upgrades by Tony, who knew he didn't want to mess with my equipment.

We boarded the Quinjet and talked for a while, about what we wanted to do when we got back. All I wanted to do was clean knives and annoy Tony. We arrived and started to take down defenses. I nailed two guards with my tranquilizer darts that popped out of my knife handle. Tony had given me them so I wouldn't kill someone.

An attack squad came out and started shooting. We had almost stopped them when a kid wearing a mask just like mine, dressed just like my old outfit. Came out, blood dripping from his hands. A red flag went up in my head, this boy was an enhanced, and from the clothes, he was a good one. Steve threw his shield at him, the boy caught it and threw it at Tony, knocking him away.

As we stared in shock, the boy made his getaway. As we continued to fight the attack squads, I slipped away to follow him. He didn't hear me as he set up his gun to shoot Cap, I tackled him and drew my knife. He kicked it out of my hand and tried to punch me, I grabbed his fist and flipped him. I recognized his fighting style, but it was nothing special, it was the same one I was trained with. He jumped up ,knocked me down, and went for my knife.

I stood and roundhouse kicked his mask off. The boy looked at me with cold, blue eyes. I was startled by how close he looked to the Winter Soldier. Before I could think about it, however, he lunged at me again. I was barely able to dodge, his army knife grazing my arm. I then grabbed my second knife and tried to shoot a tranquilizer at him, but he dodged at the last second. As he rushed in, I fired one more time. The kid just deflected the dart with his knife, then lashed out at me. I grabbed his arm and twisted it, making him release it. However, he caught the knife with his other hand and drove it up between my right arm and side. He then pulled it back down, slicing my arm. Thankfully, it wasn't very deep. An explosion hit the battery we were in and we were both knocked into a wall.

"Libiya!" Natasha yelled through the comm link, "That building is gonna collapse! Get out of there!" Before i could get up, the boy jumped on me and tried to stab his knife through my head. I was barely able to dodge, the blade ripping the earpiece out of my ear and smashing it.

That was the last straw. I ignited his arms and threw him off me, slamming him into the opposite wall right before the roof started collapsing. I leaped up and dashed out towards Wanda's voice.

"malen'kayaa l'vitsa!" Wanda yelled, seeing me. "You're wounded! And where is your earpiece?!" "That kid who used Cap's shield against us did all this. I think he was another enhanced," I responded, my voice a bit shaky from my near-death experience. "You're going back to the Quinjet. Stark is just about finished." "Okay."

I ran back to where the jet was, climbing in and getting out the First-Aid case. As I was wrapping bandages around my injuries, I had time to think about my opponent. Suddenly, my eyes shot wide open. "Wild." I muttered. "That was my brother!"

Wild's POV

I shoved some rubble off me. My super soldier serum had saved me as well as my regeneration. The second I got out of the rubble I came face to face with my superior officer. "Apparently," He said. "You were no match for the avengers."

"The girl surprised me, sir." I said. "I'll do better next time now that I have experience." "You will have another chance, Bloodclaw." "I'll take out the girl," I said. "She'll be easier, I won't fail."

He nodded. "You will not fail, or you will reap the consequences." I shivered, I truly hated my officer, but he terrified me. I headed to my truck. "No do overs." I growled.

Chapter fourteen

Libby's POV

After the mission I went to my room and burst out crying. After a while Clint came in and sat next to me. "Libiya," He said softly. "I know that you knew that boy, I don't personally need to know your history but Steve and the team do. Come on and tell us." He stood up and I followed him to the living room.

"malen'kayaa l'vitsa," said Natasha. "Who was that boy?" I gave a shaky sigh, and looked up. "I guess to understand it, you have to go to before I was born.Have you ever met the Winter Soldier?" I asked, Steve nodded. "He's my father," I began, I saw Steve's eyes light up. "And my mother was named Dara Ivanov, she was a KGB agent." I saw recognition flash through Natasha's eyes at the name.

"Hydra and Red Room teamed up to create the perfect super soldier. They chose a woman to not got through the graduation ceremony, and my father to, well, have kids with her." Tony sucked in a breath. "My mother escaped the red room before my brother and I were born and came to New York. She didn't get an abortion, thankfully for me, and got a job. Mother raised my brother, Wild, and I for five years.

"Then the attack on New York happened, mother died trying to help you guys. After the portal closed, me and Wild had gotten too close, we found we had powers,Well at least I did." I took a look around to see shock on their faces, and decided that not telling the rest would get me in more trouble. "After a few hours our father showed up, told us who he was, and took us to a van. Wild and I had always wanted to meet our dad so we went with him. I think our dad did love us though, he held me and comforted us until we got to the base. After that we got to the base, Wild didn't get a blood test, he was the spitting image of the Winter Soldier, but I did. I'm 100% sure I'm his kid because our dna was a match." Steve spoke up gently. "Is that all?"

I shook my head. "It got worse, they sent my brother away for training, and kept me for testing. After a month of that they trained me, my father and I went on one mission together. It was sinking a shield supply ship, we had just finished when an agent for hydra fell in the water, and just our luck, he couldn't swim." I sighed. "I had made my mom a promise, that if someone was drowning, I'd save them. So, even though I hated that guy's guts, I dove in and did my best to help. He got back to the boat, but dad had to grab me out of the water. After that they sent me off to the bunker you guys met me in. Wild, now Bloodclaw, had been with me up until four weeks before you came, he was transferred to a different base.

"After a week I heard two guards talking about his training being too hard, but it being too late to stop it now. I honestly thought he was dead, but apparently, he's still alive. Because that's who that boy was." "So," said Tony. "You are a child created to kill, right?" "Tony!" Said Steve and Natasha.

Tony looked confused. "What, I want the facts!" I stared at him as I said. "I'm the result of a terrible crime, bred by hydra to be a weapon, trained and tormented until only orders came to my thoughts, that's all Tony. Even if I wanted too I couldn't make up for all that, that's why I work with you. All I want is to be the opposite of what I was."

Clint asked the next question. "So can we stop him?" I nodded. "Hopefully without killing him. I was trained like he was and know his style well."

Libby's POV

"Alright Libby," said Clint before I left for school. "Be careful and take your gear." I packed my suit and weapons in my backpack and walked to school. I didn't like the bus. It was two days since the last fight with Hydra and I was healing rather well. I still had the bandage on my right arm, though. Thankfully, it was hidden under my sleeve. As I got to school before most people Matt and I started talking when Harley came in and yelled. "Hey shield agent, how did you even get in the avengers? You're so weak!" I rolled my eyes and ignored him.

After a while, Julia and Brian came in, and we started talking about the things we could do for the talent show. Matt wanted to do a team thing where he'd play his drums, I'd play my guitar, Brian, his bass guitar, and Julia sing. I didn't like the idea but that's eventually what we decided. After several minutes, we started school. First it was my favorite subject, history, because I knew all about it already. We had a pop quiz and I aced it.

After that it was a recess, but instead of having fun like usual, I patrolled the perimeter. Hydra might send another agent to kill me, and they wouldn't hesitate to put my classmates in danger. After recess we had math. Question; who the hell buys 156 apples? After that science, and finally, lunch. "That's my favorite Bible verse." I remarked to my friends. "Which one?" Asked Brian.

"Lunch 11:45!" I said happily as everyone laughed. At recess I patrolled again, and we were one hour away from getting out when the principal put the school in lockdown, and it was NOT a drill! "Cover for me Matt," I said calmly. "Why," He asked in fear. "That guy out there has a gun." "Trust me." I said.

I suited up in my full gear and slipped through the vents. I got on the roof and leaped into a tree, sure enough, it was Wild. He was watching the doors thinking about how to get in. I dropped down ten feet away from him. "Hey!" I yelled as he turned.

"It's me you want, not them." He gave me a glare and drew his gun, I ducked behind a nearby car. He threw a grenade under it and raised his gun to shoot me when it blew. But when the car was launched upwards, I was nowhere to be seen. I had ducked down into the sewers and popped up behind Wild. I then ran straight for him, which surprised him as I knocked the gun from his hand. I drew my knife, but he kicked out at my hand, knocking it back and stretching my wounded arm. I rolled and he went for his gun. I blasted it away with my fire, and yelled. "Wild, it's me! Fireclaw, your sister!" "No," he growled. "You're my mission." He charged at me quickly before choke-slamming me into the ground as he tackled me. I pushed up with my legs, then before he fell back down, I pulled my legs under and kicked straight up, knocking him off me. He landed on top of Ms. Green's car, denting it hard. I then formed a fire ball and launched it at him, blasting him off Ms. Green's car and into another's door. He quickly stood up and turned around to run around the car and get some distance between us. I noticed that there were shards of glass buried in his back and blood was running down it. But over the 5 seconds it took him to get around the car, his back was almost healed as the glass shards just fell out onto the ground. Just then Clint chose that moment to show up and fire his arrow, sticking itself in the ar right behind Wild. That got his attention. As he turned around to face it, the arrow exploded and a piece of shrapnel left a huge gash through his leg. He winced and after a few seconds, it was gone, completely healed. Clint fired another arrow at Wild, but he dodged and ripped the door off of the badly damaged minivan and used the shockwave from the arrow and the car door to launch himself up, up, and away.

Clint walked up to me. "So," He said. "You went hero in class, huh?" I nodded and the principal gave the all clear. My class mates came out and surrounded us. "Wow, you really are a hero!" Said Harley in awe.

Clint walked into the principal's office, when he saw the principal he said. "The avengers need Libiya for a few weeks, we have a mission." The principal readily agreed and I went home with Clint early.

Wild's POV

My officer was furious, but then so was I. "You failed!" He yelled. "You had one job, and failed!" I looked steadily into his eyes and whispered. "That was my sister." He glared and said. "We trained you so that you wouldn't let that get in the way. Should we just reset you? That would make sure you won't mess up again." "No, sir," I replied. "That will not get in the way of my missions again. But please. Is there any way other than killing her?" My offier just glared at me for a few moments, before sighing. "Fine, if she is of such importance to you, bring her here. She can become your partner."

I nodded, and began to turn away. "But," my officer went on, causing me to snap back to attention. "if she proves to be any more of a problem, she will be removed." I nodded once again and went back to my cell. I put my head in my hands and sobbed quietly. That was my sister, and I had to drag her back to this living hell! I wished our mother was here to soothe me. I wished I had never gotten powers. I wished I had never had the Winter Soldier for a father. I looked at the door and spat venomously. "You can't contain me forever, the instant I get the chance, I'll kill you myself, sir.

Chapter sixteen

Wild's POV

"Soldier?" Came the question. "Ready to comply." I responded quietly. "We have a new mission," said my officer. "We have an agent with some important files on the avengers. You will go meet them and retrieve them. Understood?"

I nodded and walked away to get my things, a couple knives, my hand grenades, and a hand-held gun. Another agent handed me my mission folder. "Team, get ready," I said into my collar. "We're going to Australia."

Libby's POV

"We need to know where Wild is before we make any plans," Steve said. "How are we going to do that?" I questioned. "The world is a huge place." "FRIDAY, try to access the old SHIELD satellites and search for a boy matching Wild's description," Tony said. "Will do, boss."

"Once we find him, we have to trap him." Cap added. "Libiya, do you know how he was enhanced?"

"Other than inheriting the serum from our dad and regeneration, I'm not sure." I responded. "Regeneration?" Nat asked. "Yeah. When we fought at school, he got a lot of glass fragments all over his back and it was streaked with blood. But by the time he got around a car, it was healed and the glass just fell out." I explained.

"Boss, I just found a boy matching Wild's description. He's boarding a plane in Kolkata, India heading for Sydney, Australia."

"Why would he go there?" Clint asked. "HYDRA has connections everywhere," Natasha explained. "I found reports from a HYDRA cell in Sydney looking through the files from the SHIELD bust."

"Why haven't we taken them out?" Wanda asked.

"They haven't been doing much at all, so they were pretty low on our priority list," Nat explained.

"I guess we are finally going to put them out of business," I said

We boarded the Quinjet and started working on a plan. "If we can capture him," I muttered. "Then he would be out of harms way and safe to recuperate." "Well Libby," said Tony. "I'd keep dreaming." We were half an hour away when FRIDAY popped in with more information. "Wild has been sotted outside the Sydney opera House." "Looks like you forgot to get a suit on." I shot at Tony. Sam smirked.

Chapter seventeen

Libby's POV

The Quinjet was moving at top speed as we entered Sydney. I hoped we had arrived before Wild left. The last report had told us he had been headed to the opera house. A minute later, Clint slowed down as we flew over the building. "That's a hydra boat." I whispered to Clint, pointing to a speedboat parked by a flight of stairs down to the water on the far end of the Opera House that juts into the bay. "How do you know?" He asked.

"They all have a mark that I know," I muttered. "And if I don't miss my guess, that's either Wild's or another agent's" Clint nodded and Steve said. "We don't want civilians in a fight near us. Natasha, go to the security room and start the fire alarm. Keep an eye out for the kid and tell us where he goes. The rest of you go to each entrance and see if he comes out of one."

Wild's POV

"You are late," I said to the leader of the local Hydra cell. We were in the main lobby of the Sydney Opera House. "Sorry. Motor problems," He responded. I nodded at the correct identification line. "You got the chip?" I asked. "In my pocket," he replied. "Hand it over and we can go our separate ways," I said. Suddenly, the fire alarm sounded. "What is that?!" the man asked, startled. "Ugh. Somethings up. And I think I know what it is," I said. As people began to walk out of the building, I told the agent, "Tell your men to stay here and spread out. Be ready for a fight. You and I are going to go to your vehicle and get out of here." The man nodded. "And give me the chip." The man handed me the chip as he ordered his men to be on alert. I did the same for my men.

Libby's POV

After a few minutes of intense noise, Wild walked out the back door carrying a gun while another agent followed him. Wild calmly strutted toward the flight of stairs I noticed earlier while the other man glanced around warily. They made their way to the boat as I got into position. When they got close enough to the edge, I charged in and tackled Wild from behind. We both landed on the speedboat as the other agent leaped on as well and took us out onto the bay. "Guys, I have Wild. We are on a motorboat on the bay heading east." I said into to comms. "You have to handle him, Libby," came Steve's response. "We're all busy fighting these goons." With the intense motion of getting to speed over, Wild and i were able to get to our feet. The driver raised his gun and pointed at me. He shot twice, each shot missing and splashing into the water as I dodged. I formed a fireball and shot it at him. It launched him off the boat and into the bay. "Libby," Wild said. I turned around and looked back at him. "Come with me." he said. Come with me to Hydra." It sounded like he was struggling to get the words out. "Forget all that stuff about the Avengers. They aren't who you think they are." He took a thumb drive out of his pocket. "The proof is right here on this thumb drive. Come with me and we can take them down once and for all." "That isn't you talking, Wild. That's Hydra isn't it?" i countered. "You don't really want to work for them, do you? I've been with the Avengers for 2/4 months and they have been nothing but good to me. Please, Wild join us." I used the puppy-dog-eyes trick Nat taught me to do. He just scowled, but I could see some conflict in his eyes. "One last chance, Libby." "Please, Wild." Suddenly, our moment was interrupted by an loud horn. As I looked up, I was horrified to see we were about to run into a barge! I used my fire to leap up to the steering wheel and yank it, narrowly missing the boat. I was then knocked into the floor as Wild punched my face. "That was your chance. you missed it." He tried to grab my arms, but when he touched me, he burnt his hands. I spun around with my knife, slicing his shirt sleeve. With this distance, I pointed the handle at Wild and fired a tranquilizer dart. He dodged at the last second as the dart flew off and hit the driver of another boat which turned straight for us. I quickly opened the throttle wide and we passed right in front of his ship. Once again, as i was distracted with the boat, Wild leaped at me with his own knife. I dodged and his foot hit the throttle, shutting it closed. As the boat sailed to a stop, Wild charged me and knocked me to the deck. He leaped down toward me, intending to land on my ribs, but I shot a fireball at him at the last second, sending him sailing just over my head. "Damnit, Libby, just give up and join me!" Wild yelled. "No! Hydra is evil and will only torture us till we are senseless! I will not go back to that and I know you don't want to either!" I yelled at him. "Shut up!" Wild leaped at me again and I shot another dart at him which he deflected. He tried to land on me again, but I crossed my two knives over me as I crouched down. As he stepped on them, I pushed up with all my might, sending him back up to the wheel. He opened the throttle and swerved as we were about to be hit by another boat with a drunk driver. "Watch where you're going, dummkopf!" He yelled. I shot another dart at him, which he blocked with his knife. He spoke into his collar, "Get the car ready and bring it around." We both leaped at each other, our knives clashing in mid-air. I fell off the boat and swam underneath it to the other side. I leaped up as Wild was looking over the edge and kicked him in his knee, buckling it. As he fell, I karate chopped his shoulder causing him to groan in pain. I went for the knockout blow, but he dodged toward the side. We both heard a car horn and looked up. There was a car floating on the water! It pulled up to us as the collapsible roof came down. Wild leaped onto it, tossing a grenade into my boat. They closed the roof of their car and sped off. I quickly grabbed the grenade and threw it as far as I could into a clear patch of water where it exploded, creating a huge shockwave. I ran back to the controls for the boat and sped off towards the car. The roof opened up again and Wild turned around with a gun in his hand. He shot several times, narrowly missing me. He then pulled out the pin of anther grenade and threw it into my boat again. Unable to run down and throw it out, I just stared at it. Suddenly, a cable hooked onto it and it flew out of the boat, safely detonating in the water. I looked up and saw Sam flying above me. Seeing that he was now at a disadvantage, Wild emptied the chamber of his gun into the hull of my boat before closing the roof to the car and diving underwater. As my boat filled up with water, Sam swooped down. I launched myself up and he caught me, carrying me to the Quinjet which was already in flight.

Chapter eighteen

Libby's POV

In the Quinjet I was silent, even when Tony tried to make fun of me. "Earth to Libiya, can you wake up?" He said teasingly. I looked up at him with the same dull look in my eyes as when they first found me in the cell. "Tony," growled Natasha. "The girl just fought her brother, leave her alone."

When we got back Wanda and I went to her room. "So," She said. "We both had a twin brother, mine was protective, yours is..." "trying to kill me." I muttered sadly, She nodded. "I don't know why, he used to love me."

"Want to talk about it?" She asked. "What was he like before?" I sighed and teared up. "He-he wanted to be my brother. To him people could hate him and hurt him, but never me. He always told me that he would be there for me, and whenever he made a mistake I'd tell him I loved him anyway." Wanda nodded.

"He'd help me when I had nightmares, told me he'd protect from anything. He was a good brother, acted kinda like a dad." I sighed. "He still loves me, he's just confused about it."

"You will always be my malen'kayaa l'vitsa." Wanda said as she hugged me. After a few minutes, we went down to the others. "So," said Tony. "Which is the better twin? Wild or Libiya?" Wanda glared at him while I said. "We're calling it a draw, but at least he didn't need a suit to fight me."

Clint clapped and laughed and Steve gave a smug grin. Natasha brought us all back to reality. "How can we stop this boy? "She asked. "He's a super soldier with regeneration powers, how can we stop him?" I smirked and said. "Well, for me, it's gonna be just a little harder than beating Tony with a pop tart."

Tony groaned and Steve shook his head as he said. "I'm still not sure how you managed that." Wanda laughed as did Clint and Natasha. "I just got to remind him who he is, that's all." "That's stupid Libby." Yelled Tony. "That kid needs a mental hospital, just getting him to remember isn't going to work." "Worked for me."

I said happily, as Tony looked away. He didn't trust me, because I was ex-hydra. I loved him, like you love a crazy, drunk uncle at a family reunion, but that could quickly could be lost. "So," I said. The plan is to track him back to his base. Tony, can you make me a small tracker?" His grinned. "Right up my ally, kid." He said as he disappeared into his lab.

Chapter nineteen

Wild's POV

After the Australia mission I couldn't get Libiya out of my head. I decided to give her a message, try to talk to her maybe. Then I could get her on my side, I could keep her safe. I snuck into the avengers tower through the vent and left a note in code on her desk. Only she would be able to read it.

It read: Libiya, I want you to know I'm thinking about what you said. Please meet me in the east ally two blocks away at 2000 hours. I'll be waiting, and we can talk. Your brother, bloodclaw.

I left the avengers tower without FRIDAY noticing me and slipped into the sewer. I soon popped up in the ally I was talking about and waited.

Libby's POV

After a few minutes of pestering Tony in the lab I went up into my room. The second I walked in I could sense all was not well. I gave my room a quick look over and soon spotted the note. I read it and looked at the clock. It was 1945 hours, I had time.

I suited up and headed out the vents. A few minutes later I arrived at said ally. "So," Came my brother's voice from the shadows. "You decided to show. What's with the suit?" I stared at him. "You wore yours." I shot back.

He smiled. "That's my Libby." He muttered softly. "So," I said softly. "You thinking about joining the avengers?" He snorted. "Only about as much as you think of rejoining hydra. You sure I can't convince you?" I shook my head and said.

"Why would you come here if you don't wish to join?" He sighed and said. "Libiya, it's never going to be the same. Come on, Mom is dead and Dad." He spat the name venomously. "Doesn't care about us! He handed us right over Libby!"

He growled. "The only thing I'm staying in hydra to do is complete missions!" I stepped back and before I could say anything a voice rang out. "Hey, what's going on over there?!" I turned toward the voice. When I looked back at Wild, he was gone.

I gave a quick look around, but didn't see him. I sadly walked back to the tower and climbed into the vents. I didn't want to be completely alone so I stopped in the vent in Clint's room. He talked in his sleep occasionally, just as I was about to fall asleep he said in a distressed voice. "The Burger King man stole all my secrets!" I chuckled and turned over. My last thought was. "I will not be able to look Clint tomorrow."

the next day *

Tony's POV

I woke up to Natasha frantically shaking me. "Wha-" I asked in confusion. "Have you seen Libiya?!" She demanded. I shook my head no. Natasha let me go. "She's gone Tony, I can't find her anywhere!" I looked her dead in the eyes. "She's probably just hiding somewhere you haven't checked. FRIDAY, can you scan for her?"

After a few minutes FRIDAY responded. "I couldn't find her on any floor, but there is a strange blockage in the vent near Clint's room." "That's probably her." I muttered to Natasha. I got on the iron man boots and gloves and flew to the vent. There she was, snoring softly, blocking my vent.

I gave her a slight shock with my gloves and she fell out of the vent opening just outside of Clint's room. Clint, hearing the noise, came out of his room. At first Libby was a bit groggy, then she saw Clint's face and started laughing. "What's so funny?" Asked Natasha. "Clint," said Libby shrieking with laughter. "Talks in his sleep." "What did he say?" Asked Wanda who had come to see what the fuss was about.

"He-He said, t-that the Burger King man stole all his secrets!" Libiya finished still laughing. Natasha,Wanda, and I joined Libby in laughter while Clint shook his head and went back into his room.

Chapter twenty

Libby's POV

After we finished laughing Tony said. "So how are we going to get the tracker on Wild? He would be the hardest person to get one on." I rolled my eyes. "You underestimate me Tony." I stated. "It's already on him." Everyone looked at me in shock. "How?" Asked Natasha.

"We met up last night," I said. "He wasn't aware that I slipped it onto him, didn't suspect a thing." Wanda high fived me. "For someone who loves their brother so much," said Tony. "You seem eager to fight him." I looked him dead in the eyes. "Wild is my brother," I said calmly. "I don't want to fight him; I want to save him. I'd take a bullet for him." There was a pause. "But he's on the wrong side. What do you do when the person you'd take a bullet for is the one behind the trigger?"

Tony shut up after I said that, Steve asked him where Wild was. Tony went to the lab to check it out. After a while Tony came back and said, "He is near Kolkata. I don't know how he gets to these places so quickly." Steve nodded. "Suit up," he said.

After about ten minutes of getting our gear and suits we boarded the Quinjet. Clint sat next to me. "Libiya," He said softly. "I know you're scared of fighting your brother, I just want you to know that you only have to fight the people who hurt him." I suddenly looked ruthless as I had in my hydra days. "I'm not coming for him." I responded in a soft yet deadly voice.

"I'm coming for all the monsters that ever touched him, I'm coming for all the ones who twisted his stars into shadows. They turned him into a nightmare, so I'm going to be theirs." Clint looked a little scared after I said that but nodded and said, "Good talk."

We were almost to my brother, just a little longer, and he will be safe.

Wild's POV

"Soldier?" Came the request. "Ready to comply." Came my calm response. "We have word that the Avengers are coming, we need you for defense. You will stay with me for a last resort." I nodded and grabbed two guns, my knives, and a grenade. Then waited, I hoped that if any avenger wasn't there it would be Libiya. But knowing her, she would be the first person through the door.

Libby's POV

After about three hours we arrived at Kolkata. For this mission, I had chosen a pistol and three knives. I was not kidding around about this fight. Now that we were here, Tony searched for the exact location of Wild and we followed FRIDAY's directions till we got to a large Hydra complex deep in the woods. The trees were colorful at this time of year, but they just remined me of fire. As soon as we came over the main part of the base, we were hit by a swarm of lasers and bullets. Tony, Wanda, Vision, and Sam flew out of the back hatch and Wanda helped Steve and I down to the ground. Nat stayed at the back hatch of the Quinjet while Clint piloted the craft, both giving further aerial support. We fought every soldier that attacked us, separating the group. Suddenly, I found myself at the door of a seemingly important building. As I entered, a soldier that I hadn't seen shot a laser at me, but missed and hit the door instead, causing the building to shake and the door to collapse, blocking my exit. I walked down the eerie, silent hall. It was damp and dark, I could swear I could smell the metallic sent of blood. I soon found myself in a small room with a middle age man; an officer if I wasn't mistaken. "You certainly are the self-confident one, aren't you?" He said with his back to me. "Well," I replied, "I could kill you before you even have the chance to move. Skill like that does wonders for your self image."

He laughed evilly. "Oh," he said. "I'm not going to fight you," Wild jumped from above him, I had not seen him there before. "He is." Said the officer with evil dripping from his voice. He turned around and I saw his face. He had a wild look in his eyes. His face was twisted into an evil smile. "Bloodclaw," he ordered. "Tell your sister she has one last chance to join, or you'll kill her." Wild looked at me with a half enraged, half trapped look. "Hydra saved our lives Libby." He said softly. "How?" I demanded. "By stealing our freedom, our choice, our identity!"

"Bloodclaw," said his officer. "Kill her." I unsheathed my knife and lit one of my hands on fire, ready to defend myself, but not wanting to fight. He pulled out his gun and aimed straight at me. Right before he could pull the trigger, I punched my lit fist toward it, blasting it away. He took out a knife and we clashed. He jumped and I crouched, clashing blades before he sailed over me and landed behind. He tried to twist his knife around right after he landed and plunge it into my side, but I focused on creating a fireball that would melt his blade. Right before he plunged it in, I twisted it around and held it close to Wild's dagger. It wasn't hot enough to melt it, but did light Wild's sleeve on fire. I quickly used that to throw him into away, but he recovered into a cartwheel. He I didn't notice that i accidentally threw him toward his gun until he lifted it and fired at me. I quickly created a barrier of fire between us and diverted the bullets toward Wild's officer. Apparently, he was expecting it and calmly side-stepped where I thought he was, causing the hot bullets to miss. While I was distracted by Wild's officer, Wild charged at me and grabbed me by my neck and forced me down to the ground. "You really need to learn some new moves," I told him, now ready for a counter. I focused on heating my neck till it burned him. I could see his face start to contort into one of visible pain as he resisted the urge to scream. Meanwhile, his grip was still tightening on my neck. I finally covered my fist in flame as I punched him in the chest, sending him flying off me. He landed on the wall, his eyes in a daze as he stared at his burned hand. At the same time, however, my neck was really sore and I was drained from all the energy I put into my temperature over the battle. "Good work," said the officer as I lay on the ground, helpless. I didn't even know he was behind me. He grabbed me by the collar of my suit and held me in front of him. "Now kill her." He ordered. Wild looked horrified. I had tears running down my face from the pain and exhaustion. He just looked on in anguish.

"Kill her!" the officer yelled, pushing me closer to Wild until there was only a foot between us. Wild slowly pulled his gun out from his holster and pointed it at me. I closed my eyes and whispered. "I love you anyway." I felt the barrel of his gun pressed against my forehead. I cringed, waiting for the blow that would end me. Then, suddenly, it was removed and there was a loud bang. I opened my eyes and saw the officer sink to the floor. A second later, unable to hold my own weight, I slumped down too. "I told you I'd kill you myself, sir." He spat venomously as he glared at the dead man.

He turned back to me and lifted me gently off the ground. He took me outside and lay me down on the ground. As he started to walk away, I called out for him. He turned and smiled. "I always wanted to change the world," he said. "I'll leave that to you." After that everything went black.

Chapter twenty-one

Libby's POV

I woke up in a white, clean hospital room with Natasha siting next to me holding my hand. "Natasha?" I asked, my voice weak and braking. Her eyes lit up when she heard me speak. "Libby! You're awake!" "Wild got away," I breathed. "He's safe now. He'll never have to fight again."

Natasha nodded with happy tears pouring down her face. A moment later, Clint came in and started crying when he saw me awake. "Come on, I couldn't have been that annoying, Clint," I joked. "Quite the opposite," Clint said, his voice shaking. "I don't know what to do without my vent buddy!" He then came over and gave me a hug. I was sore, but I let him hug me hard. Tony walked in a moment later and smiled. "Bout time you showed Tony." I said he shook his head and walked way to tell the others I was awake. "What happened?" I asked. "Who brought me in?"

"I did," Clint said. "I was so worried you would make it." "Uncle Clint! That's a insult!" I said, assuming a mocked hurt tone, "I'm Wildfire. It'll take more than that to get rid of me!" Clint smiled. Just then Wanda burst into the room. "malen'kaya l'vitsa," She half sobbed. "Don't ever do something like that again!" "No promises." I said happily. Then, Steve walked in.

"You got hurt bad Libby, you doing ok?" He asked, I smiled. "I'm better," I said. I looked down, reflecting. "I used to have nothing, now I have you guys. I get to help people. I'm not perfect by any means, but I've gotten better and I'm still learning." Steve smiled and gently ruffled my hair.

"That right Libiya," He said. "Nobody on the team is perfect, we are all learning. We'll all help each other." I smiled and lay back, my family was okay, my brother was safe, and the hydra officer was long gone. We continued making small talk as the Avengers slowly trickled out of my room. Finally, Nat announced that she would head to (Favorite Ice Cream Shop) and bring back a quart of (Fav Ice cream flavor). When she was gone, I sighed. (Internal monologue time) I sighed and laid back, waiting for the ice cream Nat would bring and wondering what my next adventure would be.

End of Part 2

Chapter twenty two

Libby's POV

A few days later

"Monster," 'no, please, not tonight.' I thought in my dream, I couldn't snap out of it. "Go On Libiya," Came the voice of my officer. "Kill them, they mean nothing to hydra, they have failed and must pay." The young boy on the floor looked at me, hate filling his eyes. I had broken his ribs, stabbed one of his eyes, and now he had to die. I shook my head, I didn't want to kill. I couldn't take this fight to the finish. My officer growled angrily. "Kill them,or your father will end him. I doubt he'll be merciful." I turned to the boy and took out my gun. "Do it" the boy growled. *bang*

I woke up gasping for air and in a panicked state. My chest felt restricted, I couldn't breathe. My dreams, what I had done, what was real, what was fake, I couldn't tell. As soon as I had regained some air I exited my room. I went down to the lab to see if Tony was awake, I know, but I didn't want Wanda or Natasha to know about my dreams. Tony was messing with his suit and I walked into the lab.

"Hi Tony." I said, he jumped. "Libiya," He asked. "What are you doing down here?" "I can't sleep," I said. "You know how it is." He nodded sympathetically. "Anything specific?" He asked.

"Memories." I sighed, he nodded. "Me too." He added. "But why not go to Wanda? Or Steve or Natasha? You're close with them." I shook my head. "One, you don't wake Natasha, two, I didn't want them to know, and three, they are asleep."

Tony gave a half grin and said. "How smart are you?" I shrugged and said. "Depends on what you ask." "Can you help me prank someone? Just give me an idea." I thought a minute, and said. "If you put a bucket of water, with a lot of glitter on someone's door, they would not only be wet, but covered in glitter for the rest of the day."

He laughed, and surprised me. "Want to do that to Sam?" He asked, I looked at him. "Under usual circumstances" I said. "I'd say no, but tonight is the exception." Tony and I prepared the bucket and I placed it on his door frame. "Remember," I told him. "Snitches end up in ditches."

He laughed and nodded. "Got it." We spent the next several hours tinkering in the lab with his suit. In the morning, about eight, we heard Sam yell. "This is the point of no return." Said Tony evilly and I nodded. I walked out of the lab to the hall where Sam was muttering curses under his breath, innocent act time.

"What happened Sam?" I asked, I swear, I had a halo appear above my head. "Someone put a bucket of water on my door,"he said. I took one look and saw that the glitter was still there. "Look again," I said. "I think there is glitter in there too." Sam looked and saw it too.

He got low and said. "Who do you think did this?" I whispered. "Uncle Clint is always pranking someone." I wasn't lying, I just didn't tell him who did it. And that is how Tony and I started prank war three.

Chapter twenty three

Natasha's POV

Nick Fury had finally restarted SHEILD, and he had a mission for us, some Hydra base, small, but well fortified. "Is Libiya able to see action?" Nick asked calmly, he was proud of her, but concerned about her injuries. "One of her stab wounds got infected," said Steve. "It's almost fully healed, but she still needs to recover from the fever it gave her."

I shook my head, Libby had had a serious fever, she was still weak from it and needed rest. "She can stay at SHEILD while you are on the mission, she'd be useful." Nick said. After a bit of argument, that's what we decided to do. I went to inform Libby about it, she took it hard. It took twenty minutes to explain she WAS needed, but needed to recover first. She finally promised not to follow us there and stay at SHIELD headquarters.

the next day*

Libby's POV

After Natasha and the team left the director of SHIELD, Nick Fury, left me with agent Coulson. Coulson was pretty cool, he was a huge Captain America fan, had the trading cards and everything. He let me look at his car, which he named Lola, I have no clue why he called it that. After awhile I wandered around the base, there was a guy playing galaga on a computer instead of working, I didn't say a thing about it though just watched.

I found the coffee room and where Coulson hid his doughnuts. He found me five minutes later, eating a doughnut calmly. He just laughed about it and ruffled my hair. He and I watched super nanny for a bit, then he left. After a few minutes I left too, I watched a few agents and Nick seemed shocked that I was interested in them.

He handed me a book full of advice for rookies. Some were pretty funny.

There was even one that Clint wrote.

I continued reading more and more, then I got to a part that said: Tips For Dealing With New Avengers Recruits. To my surprise, there were some about me.

SHEILD tip #576

Yes she is eight, yes she was in Hydra, no you cannot remind her of this.

Tip #577

Getting near Libiya with needles, guns, medical equipment, and/or knives is not recommended for your health. If she has a mental breakdown, she probably won't do anything afterwards, but Barton, Romanoff, and Steve Rogers will.

Tip #578

Bullying Libiya because she was in Hydra is not a good idea. She knows more about you than you do about her.

I grinned happily, I was officially an avenger. After a little longer, Coulson took me out of the compound to look around the city. We walked for a bit until we both spotted something in a store window. It was a Captain America hoodie, we looked at each other and bought one for each of us.

We walked back into SHEILD hq wearing them. Nick saw us and just shook his head. A couple hours later the team showed up, a little worn out, but all alive nonetheless. I hugged Natasha and she carried me to the car. I must have fallen asleep because next thing I know, it's morning and I'm at the tower.

Peter's POV

"This is awesome, Ned." I told my best friend. "We get to see the avengers and where they work. This is the best!" Our class had a field trip to avengers tower, and I was excited. "Totally! I wonder if we'll be able to see Mr. Stark's lab." MJ suddenly gave me a deadpan look, "I highly doubt it because they will want to keep their security. Especially after Ultron." "It's true. They'll probably be on guard," Ned agreed. I suddenly got nervous. 'They would be on guard.' I thought. 'What if I ran into Wildfire? Would she recognize me from my voice? If she does, would she make a scene?' "Pete, are you alright?" Ned asked me. I shook myself out of my thoughts. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." We loaded off the bus and headed to the tower; it was amazing. An intern named Joey gave us name tags. "These identify you as guests; keep them in sight at all times." He instructed.

"Any questions before we get started?" He added. Ned raised his hand. "Yes sir." Said Joey. "Will any avengers join us on the tour?" He asked. Joey chuckled. "Well, probably not any adult ones. Wanda may, but with Wildfire you never can tell. She's almost guaranteed to show if she's interested. But she might not show, so don't get your hopes up." I was internally conflicted. I was excited to possibly meet one of the strongest Avengers, but was also nervous about seeing Libby again. Joey motioned us to follow as he headed toward the elevator, and the tour started.

Libby's POV

The other avengers were getting ready for the question-and-answer part of the tour. I was already ready, and very bored. I followed the tour around from the vents; however, there were three that drew my especial attention. Peter, Ned and MJ, they were called. "I really hope we see Wildfire," said Ned. "What do you think she's like?" "Definitely smart," said MJ confidently. "Smart and quick." I noticed, however, that while Peter was usually talkative, he was silent while they were discussing me.

After a couple hours, when they stopped in the lunchroom, I jumped down from my vent to introduce myself. But also to eat; stupid soldier serum. After I got some food, I walked over to Peter's table. "Hi," I said happily. The three froze, "Is there room for me to sit?" I asked calmly, the boys nodded. I sat down and smiled at them, then the boy, Ned, started talking.

"Oh my goodness, you're Wildfire! Oh man, you are so cool! I mean, the way your powers work... it's amazing, what else do you do?" The one named Peter stopped him. "Ned, you should stop before it gets weird." "To late." MJ said from the other end of the table. "You guys are losers." "It's alright," I said. "I don't have anywhere else to be right now."

"Why are you sitting with us?" Asked Peter. "Because you seem to be the most interesting out of your class. No one is usually eager to see me; they're fans of Cap, Tony, Thor, Banner, and so on." "I'm sitting here because I don't have any other friends." Said MJ, I held out my hand. "You three have just gained and Avenger friend."

"...Thanks" She said. After a while, I had to leave for the question-and-answer thing. We all went on the stage separately. I went first and sat on a stool that had been placed there. Once everyone has taken their places, I said, "Ok, who has questions about my personal life?"

Everyone laughed, then a few raised their hands. "Yes sir." I said pointing at a boy randomly. "Is it true that you have a brother?" He asked. "Yes, but I don't know where he is." I answered quickly, "Next question." "What's the family status for each avenger?" A girl asked. I ducked my head, but the avengers watched me expectantly. I guess they wondered that as well. I finally spoke up. "So," I said. "Natasha is like my mom and Steve is my dad; unless my actual dad was there. Then Steve's my uncle. Tony is like that crazy, drunk uncle at the family reunion,"

I took a breath and continued. "Clint is that really fun uncle that you always want to hang out with. Wanda is basically my big sister, and Vision is like a brother. Finally, Sam is just a cool uncle." "Just?!" Sam suddenly burst out and raised an eyebrow at me. "Just stating the facts, Sam. Next question." "I have a question for Captain America," said another girl from the class. "Sure," Steve replied. "How do you throw your shield?" Steve smiled. "Well, it takes a lot of skill and practice. And a lot of mental math." When Stave said that, I noticed Peter suddenly smiled. "You have to judge your angles and ricochets before you throw." He slipped a magnetic device onto his wrist and used it to summon his shield back to him. The class yelped after seeing the shield fly over their heads. Several Avengers chuckled at their reactions. Steve slipped it on and stood up to show them how he threw it. He slowly spun around then let the shield go and it flew for a bit before faltering because it didn't have enough power. Steve quickly recalled it back to him so it wouldn't hurt anyone. Of course, I would throw it bit harder." The girl who asked the question was in awe that she actually got to see Steve do it. "Next question." Steve said. "I have one for Vision." said Ned. "Yes?" "Is it true you don't eat or drink anything?" "Yes, it is true. I have never eaten anything in my life, so when I try to cook, I almost always mess up and make it inedible." Several Avengers chuckled at that, remembering the time Vision tried to make a rotisserie chicken and it turned into a block of coal. "What would happen if you did eat something?" Ned asked again. "I'm not sure. But I think that there would be different reactions to whatever it is I eat. Next question." "I have one for Wildfire." said a kid who taunts Peter a lot. I think his name was Flash or something. "Yes?" I responded. "Have you ever cussed?" "Yes, So I have a teacher that doesn't like me because I broke her car, her name is ms.Green. So I was out on a mission all night and so guess what? I fall asleep in class! So my teacher calls me to her desk and writes a note, she staples it to my shirt. She said. 'Make sure your mother reads the note,' so I give it to Natasha, the note said, 'maybe if you payed Libiya more attention at home, she wouldn't act like a fool in school. Natasha reads it and said 'you tell her, mind her damn business before I come down there and I beat her ass!' And I said 'so say it like that or...' 'what did I say? Tell her to mind her damn business before I come down there and beat her ass.' So I'm in a lot of trouble, never had I talked back to a superior before so I go and practice my lines. So after an hour I get it down and go to bed. So the next day I'm on the bus my friend gets hiped. 'Hey! Libby is on the bus! What up Libby?" And I say 'just be behind me when I walk into class.' They nod we get off and walk in our teacher starts talking, 'hello hello, good morning, hello.' She sees me she says 'Libiya,' I say 'ms.Green." 'Did you give your mom the note?' 'Yes I did.' 'What did she say?' I look at my friend like its about to go down. 'Well, she told you... to mind your damn business before she comes down here and beats your ass.""Wow, ok." Said Flash, who was laughing harder than anyone in the room. However, Natasha and Steve were glaring at me.

After that I went back to the vent, my brain was just done for the day.

Clint's POV

"You need to tell her, Clint," said Natasha sadly as I packed my things. I was retiring, and I didn't think I'd be back to the tower. "There is no way Libiya is going to believe you're on a mission for more than a year." Natasha added, I sighed.

"I-" Said in desperation. "I just don't want to break her heart. Really, Nat. She's been through more than anyone should have to; she doesn't need more sadness in her life."

"Yeah? And how will she feel if you leave without even telling her goodbye?" Asked Natasha calmly. "She'll be even more heartbroken. You need to tell her!" I nodded, and said. "Tomorrow is the weekend, I can spend the day with her and tell her then."

Libby's POV

"Libiya, hey, come on." Clint said as he shook me awake. "Go caw somewhere else, Uncle Clint." I grumbled sleepily. "No can do." He said happily as he pushed me out of bed. It wasn't the falling out of bed that woke me up so much as the fake happy note in his voice. "Uncle Clint," I asked nervously. "Is something wrong?"

He cringed. "No, why?" A lie. "Uncle Clint," I said sternly. "I'm a spy too, you're not going to fool me that easy." Clint ducked his head down. "I have something to tell you," He said, I nodded for him to continue. "So, you remember my family, right?" I nodded again.

"Well, I need to be there with them a lot more and-" "You're leaving?" I asked calmly, but with a hint of sadness. "Yeah," he sighed. "I understand." I said softly, then Clint brightened up a bit. "But I want to spend the whole day with you so you won't forget the good times."

I nodded and said, "So, what are we doing first?" Clint grinned, "We're gonna do everything I introduced you to during you reintegration." I smiled, "Let's do this!"

Clint pulled out a blindfold. "Um..." I said. "I don't want to spoil the surprise!" Said Clint as he put it over my eyes. He then lead me out of the room and to the kitchen. "Okay," He said. "What was the first normal breakfast you had?"

" Strawberry poptarts." I said. He took off the blindfold. "Bingo!" He said excitedly. After breakfast he put the blindfold back on and lead me to the car. Twenty minutes later we stopped. "First store you went to?" "Walmart." I said with a grin. I remembered the day fondly.

"okay Libiya," said Clint. "You, Tony, and I are going to Walmart to help you get used to people. While we're there you can get something, okay?" I nodded nervously, I still didn't enjoy choices.

After we got to Walmart Clint set me in the shopping cart. After a bit of riding I grabbed a package of string cheese and put it in the cart. "You don't even know what that is!" said Tony. "She can get what she wants, Tony!" Said Clint.

Thirty minutes and many snacks, sodas, and assorted items later, we were getting back in the car and putting the blindfold on. After dropping the stuff and Tony off at the tower we continued on the trip. "First place I took you to act like a child?" I thought for a moment before smiling and saying,

"The park." We pulled up and Clint took off my blindfold. We walked around and played on the swings, monkey bars, and carousel. After a while Clint took out the blindfold. "We're gonna walk to the next place, ok?" I nodded and allowed him to lead me around. We paused for a moment and I heard animal noises. "First place I took you to see different things?" Clint asked in excitement. "Central Park Zoo." I said happily as I tried to take my blindfold off. "Hold on, Libby!" Said Clint. "Don't take it off, I want to show you something really special here."

I allowed him to lead me around for a little longer before we stopped and he took it off. My eyes got big as I saw huge, gold cats, some with fuzz all around their heads. "Are those-" I asked in amazement. "Yep!" Said Clint in an upbeat tone. "Those are lions! Bigger than you thought huh? I didn't get to show you last time because Tony made you freak out."

I watched them, noting that the females were fiercer then the others. "So that's what mom meant." I muttered to myself. I then walked toward the bars that held the animals. "Libiyah!" Clint yelled in shock at what I was doing. I held a hand in his direction to calm him. As I approached the cage, a lioness walked up toward me. We reached the bars at the same time. I slowly raised my hand and stuck it slightly through the bars. It stared at my hand for a couple seconds before pressing its head against my palm. Her fur was so soft. It turned its head so that I was rubbing its ear. It started purring as soon as I started rubbing. After a few moments, a zoo manager yelled at me to stay away from the cave. When I looked at him, I felt the lioness move away. By the time I looked back, it was gone.

Clint and I then looked at the other big cats. As we looked at the tigers I told Clint, "I knew a guy who was really like a tiger." Clint smiled and we continued to walk around. We stopped at the penguins longest, because I had never seen them before.

After we got back in the car I turned to Clint and whispered. "I have somewhere to show you." I gave him directions until we reached a certain alley. "Where are we Libiya?" He asked in confusion. "Where I was a child." I responded distantly as I directed him to a dumpster in the alley. "This is where my brother and I hid during the invasion," I said. I walked a bit further and stopped a few feet away. "And this," I added. "Is where my father found us."

"Who are you?!" Demanded Wild in suspicion as a tall man with long brown hair and blue eyes approached us he was wearing a black outfit and stopped when he heard Wild. "I-" He said in Russian. "I'm your father." My eyes widened, could he be telling the truth?

"Prove it!" Snarled Wild in mistrust. "Show us one thing that would prove it!" The man took off his glove to reveal a silvery metal hand. "Does this satisfy you?" He asked calmly as Wild's eyes widened in surprise. "Papa!" I exclaimed in excitement as I hugged him. "YA lyublyu tebya, papa." I said.*

When I came back to reality we were back in the car and driving home. Clint looked over at me in concern. "You ok Libby? You just froze." "YA lyublyu tebya, Clint." I said sincerely. "(Italics) I love you"

Libby's POV

We were finally back on missions, even if Clint was gone, it felt good to be back. We had heard Rumlow was planning on something here in Lagos, Nigeria and were under cover. I sat with Natasha in an outdoor cafe as a mother-daughter duo. No one questioned us and we didn't raise any suspicions.

"All right, what do you see?" Asked Steve over the radio. "Standard beat cops. Small station. Quiet street. It's a good target." Said Wanda, seemingly oblivious to the many flaws in that idea. "There's an ATM in the south corner, which means . . ." Added Steve.

"Cameras." She said calmly. "Both cross streets are one way." Said Steve walking her through the flaws. "So, compromised escape routes." Wanda nodded. "Means our guy doesn't care about being seen, he isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out. You see that Range Rover halfway up the block?"

"Yeah, the red one? It's cute."

"It's also bulletproofed, which means private security, which means more guns, which means more headaches for somebody. Probably us." Said Natasha while pretending to talk to me. "You guys know I can move things with my mind, right?" Asked Wanda. "Looking over your shoulder needs to become second nature." Said Natasha and I nodded.

"Anybody ever tell you you're a little paranoid?" Asked Sam jokingly.

"Not to my face. Why? Did you hear something?" Asked Natasha.

"Eyes on target, folks. This is the best lead we've had on Rumlow in six months. I don't want to lose him." Said Steve.

"If he sees us coming that won't be a problem. He kind of hates us." Said Sam as a garbage truck started to push it's way through traffic, disregarding anything in its way. "I don't think he's going for the station guys." I said over the radio, having worked with hydra and knowing Rumlow, the station wouldn't be in any danger. "Sam, see that garbage truck? Tag it." Ordered Steve in determination.

"That truck's loaded for max weight. And the driver's armed." Sam said seriously.

"It's a battering ram." Natasha said

"Go now." Said Steve. "What?" Asked Wanda in confusion."Libiya was right. He's not hitting the police." Over the comms, I heard Sam and Steve rush off, apparently to a fight. Nat, Wanda and I shot out of our seats and ran down the street at top speed. Wanda used her red telekinesis powers as a propulsion system and flew toward the fight. I soon followed with my fire powers, careful not to light anything on fire. "Body armor, AR-15's. I make seven Hostiles." Cap said as he engaged the mercenaries. "I make 5." Said Sam. Wanda and I landed in the fight soon after. Wanda used her powers to form an energy shield in front of her to block bullets before grabbing the soldier and throwing him to Sam, who knocked him out with his wingsuit. "4." Sam updated, before calling his drone to scan the building. "Rumlow's on the third floor." Cap walked up to us, saying, "Wanda. Just like we practiced." "What about the gas?" Wanda asked. "Get it out. Libby, you do you." Steve then charged at the building as Wanda used her powers to throw Cap up through a third-floor window. As Sam and I fought off mercenaries behind us, Wanda focused on using her powers to pull the poisonous gas from the building and up into the air in a gigantic plume. When it got far enough from the ground, I threw a fireball up into it and it all exploded safely. "Rumlow has a biological weapon." Steve said as I watched one of the agents. "I'm on it," Nat said, finally coming onto the scene on a motorcycle, proceeding to knock out soldier after soldier who were guarding an armored vehicle. She was then grabbed by Rumlow and shoved down into the vehicle before he dropped a grenade inside and closed the lid. I rushed over to help, but before I could do anything, the grenade exploded and I saw Nat get launched out the back. "Nat, are you ok?" I asked, crouching down next to her. She was coughing, but managed to nod. Several more mercenaries surrounded us and I worked on defending Nat and myself while Rumlow took another armored vehicle and was launching shells inside the building. I had just taken out the second to last merc when the last held up a gun to the back of my head. "Don't move!" he yelled. I froze. Suddenly, he grunted and I turned around to see Nat recovered and beating his ass. When he dropped, Nat looked at me and said, "Let's go." "No 'thank you'?" I commented. Nat just gave me a side-eye and ran to her bike. I quickly launched myself off toward a marketplace nearby where Rumlow's truck escaped towards. Sam beat me to it. "I got seven." He said, "They're splitting up." From above, I saw Nat run off her bike and into the crowd. "I've got the two on the left," she said. "Ive got the three in the center," I added. "Sam, you'll always be on the right," I chuckled. "Not necessary, Libby!" Sam yelled back. The three mercs were quite slippery. I had a hard time tracking them from above, but finally, I dropped in right in front of them. "Hello, there," I said, before kicking the first guy in the groin. I quickly hit him on the back of the head when he doubled over, sending him to the ground. I drew my knives and sized up my enemies. one was behind me and to my right and the other was behind me to my left. I quickly shot a tranquilizer dart into the back of the man in front of me and leaped back to dodge a bullet shot by the man to my left. I threw one knife at his hand, making him drop his gun while engaging the other. He may have been bigger, but I was faster and more powerful. I dodged several of his punches before hitting him in the stomach. He then grabbed my wrist before I could retract it and flipped me over his head and made me crash into a fruit stand. "Mmm. Fruit salad. My favorite," I said, grabbing a piece of melon and throwing it in his eyes. When he stumbled back, the other merc charged. I used my flame to launch myself out of the stand right before the man ran head-first into it and tripped. I shot a tranquilizer dart into the first man's chest before turning around and shooting another in the second's buttock. I suddenly heard a huge explosion and turned toward the medical research building. "O, mama, pozhaluysta, net ..." I said as I ran towards it. I heard Steve seconds later. "Oh my . . . Sam . . . We need . . . Fire and Rescue . . . on the south side of the building. We gotta get up there."

I could hear people in pain in the building, so I launched myself into a fourth-story window and began grabbing as many people as I could and jumping out with them, using my powers to protect them from harm until the fire teams showed up. As I turned to leave, I saw people glaring at me and Wanda. "Poshli domoy." I told her as I passed out from overuse of my powers.

Libby's POV

"11 Wakandans were among those killed during a confrontation between the Avengers and a group of mercenaries in Lagos, Nigeria, last month. The traditionally reclusive Wakandans were on an outreach mission in Lagos when the attack occurred." Said a news reporter. Wanda and I were in her room looking at the world's response to our last mission. As Wanda watched the news on her TV while I looked at social media on my phone.

"Our people's blood is spilled on foreign soil. Not only because of the actions of criminals, but by the indifference of those pledged to stop them. Victory at the expense of the innocent, is no victory at all." Said the Wakndan king.

As I scrolled, I saw a photo of an African lady holding her two kids, both crying and covered in ash. The words above said, 'People who don't prevent this are never heroes.'

"The Wakanda king went on to . . ."

Wanda changed the channel. "They are operating outside and above the international law. Because that's the reality, if we don't respond to acts like these. What legal authority does an enhanced individual like Wanda Maximoff have to operate in Nigeria? And why was an enhanced like Libiya Ivanov doing there without helping stop the fire?"

Another post caught my eye. It was a picture of me with my suit on with the words '#WildfirecouldstillbeHydra'

I was distracted when the TV turned off and Steve set the remote down as he leaned on the door frame."It's my fault." Said Wanda despondently."That's not true." Objected Steve."Turn the TV back on. They're being very specific. They're targeting Libby too." Contradicted Wanda. I turned around my phone to show Steve a picture of the building that was on fire with the words, 'No Underage Superheroes'

"I should've clocked that bomb vest long before you had to deal with it." He said as he walked over. "Rumlow said "Bucky" and . . . all of a sudden I was a 16-year-old kid again, in Brooklyn. And people died. It's on me."

"It's on all of us." I blurted. "I should never have gone after Natasha. If I had gone with Steve I could have stopped the fire sooner." I dropped my head into my hands. 'Will I always be a killer? A monster? Is that what I was destined to be?' I thought in desperation.

"This job . . . we try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn't mean everybody. But if we can't find a way to live with that, next time . . . maybe nobody gets saved." Said Steve as he tried to comfort us. Suddenly, Vision walked through the wall "Vis! We talked about this." Said Wanda."Yes, but the door was open so I assumed that . . ." He stopped when he saw the look on Wanda's face.

"Captain Rogers wished to know when Mr. Stark was arriving.""Thank you. We'll be right down." Said Steve. "I'll . . . use the door. Oh, and apparently, he's brought a guest." Added Vision. "We know who it is?""The Secretary of State."

A few minutes later we were sitting around a table listening to Secretary Ross talk. "Five years ago, I had a heart attack. I dropped right in the middle of my back-swing. Turned out it was the best round of my life, because after 13 hours of surgery and a triple bypass . . . I found something 40 years in the Army had never taught me: Perspective. The world owes the Avengers an un-payable debt. You have fought for us, protected us, risked your lives . . . but while a great many people see you as heroes, there are some . . . who would prefer the word "vigilantes"." He said.

"And what word would you use, Mr. Secretary?" Asked Natasha. I noticed he took a minute to look at me before saying.

"How about "dangerous"? What would you call a group of US-based, enhanced individuals who routinely ignore sovereign borders and inflict their will wherever they choose and who, frankly, seem unconcerned about what they leave behind?"

He activated a screen behind him and showed us clips of past missions.

"New York" He said as he showed us the footage from that battle. In the background, I saw a shadow in an alley.

"Washington DC." He showed us the Helicarriers. "Sokovia." He showed us footage of the flying city and a couple shots of us destroying buildings to stop the robots. "Lagos." A shot of the building on fire and then a little black girl killed my the bomb. I looked away. She was my age.

"Okay. That's enough." Said Steve noticing how this had effected Wanda and I "For the past four years, you've operated with unlimited power and no supervision. That's an arrangement the governments of the world can no longer tolerate. But I think we have a solution. " he said as he took out a thick book.

"The Sokovia Accords. Approved by 117 countries . . . it states that the Avengers shall no longer be a private organization. Instead, they'll operate under the supervision of a United Nations panel, only when and if that panel deems it necessary." "The Avengers were formed to make the world a safer place. I feel we've done that." Said Steve."Tell me, Captain, do you know where Thor and Banner are right now? If I misplaced a couple of 30 megaton nukes . . . you can bet there'd be consequences. Compromise. Reassurance. That's how the world works. Believe me, this is the middle ground." "You see us as weapons?" I said calmly, more making a statement then asking a question. Ross ignored me.

"So, there are contingencies." Said Rhodey."Three days from now, the UN meets in Vienna to ratify the Accords.Talk it over." "You didn't answer my question." I said in a deadly tone of calm. He glared at me. "You certainly are according to the files, Fireclaw." I blinked. "So the government is turning into what I escaped from?" I asked calmly, Steve could tell I was fishing for information.

"No," said Ross curtly. "We're trying to stop you from becoming what you were supposed to be." "I am not my father." I said in a toneless voice. "You're more like him than you want to believe." Ross said as he set a large file in front of me. It was my file from hydra. "How did you get this?" I demanded breathlessly. "I looked in the right place." He responded before leaving.

later*

"Secretary Ross has a Congressional Medal of Honor, which is one more than you have." Rhodes told Sam. "Yeah" I muttered. "Because no one knew about him, everyone knew how awesome Sam is." "So let's say we agree to this thing. How long is it gonna be before they LoJack us like a bunch of common criminals?"

I proceeded to turn my attention to my file. I needed to know, how much had I done? It read like this:

Asset #1092

Code name:Fireclaw

Part of: Operation Winter's Shadow

Entry 1: Asset placed in close quarters with The Winter Soldier. Maintained several injuries from Soldier.

Entry 2: Asset showed great patience when experiencing pain moving her to higher pain levels.

Entry 3: Asset lashed out at higher pain levels. Beginning serum injection tomorrow.

I skipped ahead a few days as I could remember that plainly.

Entry 24: Asset badly hurt by Winter Soldier. Training very hard. Killed two guards.

Entry 25: Soldier and Asset went on mission. Asset appears to give Soldier emotion. Asset being shipped to Sokovia for training.

Entry 109: Asset killed all ten opponents. Collapsed after using powers for extended period of time.

After reading line after line I came to reality as Natasha agreed with Tony. "No, no, no. You can't retract it. Thank you. Unprecedented. Okay, case closed--I win." He told her, then he turned to look at me. "How about you Libiya? I assume you're gonna sign with Natasha?" "No," I said quietly. "Common Libiya," He said as if trying to change my mind. "I want to know what's on that file. I mean it would be proof for everyone why we need to sign." My heart shattered.

Tony's POV

I regretted saying that the second I saw Libby's reaction. You could see her heart breaking and after that her piecing everything together. She set the file in the middle of the table and looked at me with tears in her eyes. "You think you know me, Tony?" She asked. She then got up. I was scared and sweating. She slowly walked toward me as she talked.

"You haven't heard the half of it. Do you know what it's like to hold your only parent as they died? To have your father show up and claim he's here to help and then he beats you every day? To have the last person who actually cares about you torn from you, never to be seen again? To be afraid to love anything? To forget how to live, so you don't? To forget how to die? To kill people your age because if you don't your father will? To think your family is dead only to find the one you love most is trying to kill you?" She was standing directly in front of me now. Between how close she was and the tension in the room, it was hard to breathe.

She stared at me until I looked down before continuing. "Hydra put so much red in my ledger that it makes Natasha's look like a joke. I had no choice, no chance, and no way out..." She finally broke the eye contact with me and started walking out the door before she stopped. "Sometimes," she said. "In order to survive, you must kill your own mind." As she left Steve received a text.

"I have to go." He said.

Subject: Re: Twenty seven

Libby's POV

"When I came out of the ice, I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out that she was alive. I was just lucky to have her." Said Steve sadly as we walked up to him."She had you back, too." Said Natasha.

"Who else signed?" He asked desperately."Tony. Rhodey. Vision." I told him with tears in my eyes."Clint?" Asked Steve. "Says he's retired." Said Natasha as she smiled slightly.

"Wanda?" He asked."TBD (To Be Determined). I'm off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords. There's plenty of room on the jet." She said."Just because it's the path of least resistance doesn't mean it's the wrong path. Staying together is more important than how we stay together."

"What are we giving up to do it?I'm sorry, Nat. I can't sign it.""I know.""Then what are you doing here?""We didn't want you to be alone."

much later*

"My mom tried to talk me out of enlisting, but, um, not Aunt Peggy. She bought me my first thigh holster." Said Sharon Carter."Very practical." Steve nodded."And stylish." She added as we waited by an elevator.

"CIA has you stationed over here now?" Asked Steve."In Berlin, Joint Terrorism Task Force." She said."Right. Right. Sounds fun." Steve said."I know, right?"

"I've been meaning to ask you. When you were spying on me from across the hall . . . ." Asked Steve "You mean when I was doing my job." Said Sharon."Did Peggy know?"

"She kept so many secrets. I didn't want her to have one from you." She said as the elevator stopped."Thanks for walking me back.""Sure." He said as Sam came over.

"Libby.Steve. There's something you gotta see." He said in an undertone as he took us to a room.

"A bomb hidden in a news van ripped through the UN building in Vienna.More than 70 people have been injured. At least 12 are dead, including Wakanda's King T'Chaka. Officials have released a video of a suspect who they have identified as James Buchanan Barnes, the Winter Soldier. The infamous HYDRA agent, linked to numerous acts of terrorism and political assassinations."

"I have to go to work." Said Sharan as I gazed in wonder at the screen. "So that's your dad right?" Sam asked me. "They told me he was dead..." I paused before looking at Steve. "And that you and Natasha killed him." Steve looked shocked before asking. "I know you had some kind of family with him. What happened between you two?"

I sighed, I just couldn't keep one secret could I? "When we got to the hydra base they put him and I into the same cell in order to see if I would survive. My father never did anything to really hurt while we were alone, at most it would bruise, but hydra, if they wanted to punish me or test my pain tolerance, they would force him to beat me up. He never did anything to show he loved me, I didn't know why, until..."

"What?" Asked Sam. "You know about the mission," I said as the both nodded. "After father pulled me out of the water, he wouldn't let anyone take me away from him. He did cpr on me for twenty minutes before I became conscious and after that he held me. I realized he did care, unfortunately."

"Unfortunately?" Steve shot me a confused look. "How's that?" I took a deep breath before continuing. "When we got back to the base everyone could tell he was attached to me, and they didn't want their perfect soldier messed up by emotions. They took me from him and forced me to watch as they took his memories. Then they sent me away. I never saw him again." "Then it's time you did, Libby." Said Steve in determination.

Twenty nine

Natasha's POV

"Yeah?" I said when Steve called me.

"You alright?" He asked."Ah, yeah, thanks. I got lucky." I saw an ambulance speed by, then heard it through the phone. 'He's here.' I thought. I stood up, suddenly serious. "I know how much Barnes means to you. I really do. Stay home. You'll only make this worse. For all of us. Please."

"Are you saying you'll arrest me?" He asked, also serious. "No. But someone will. If you interfere. That's how it works now." I told him."If he's this far gone, Nat, I should be the one to bring him in." He told me.

"Why?" I demanded."Because I'm the one least likely to die trying." He said as he ended the call."Shit."

Libby's POV

I sipped my lemonade as Steve walked back into the cafe. "She tell you to stay out of it?Might have a point." Sam said."He'd do it for me." Said Steve."1945, maybe. I just want to make sure we considered all our options. The people that shoot at you usually wind up shooting at me."Sharon then showed up to give us info.

"Tips have been pouring in since that footage went public. Everybody thinks the Winter soldier goes to their gym. Most of it's noise. Except for this. "She slid Steve a file. "My boss expects a briefing, pretty much now . . . so that's all the head start you're gonna get."

"Thank you." Said Steve."And you're gonna have to hurry. We have orders to shoot on sight." Added Sharon then she left. Steve turned to me. "I don't suppose it would do me any good to forbid you to come, would it?" He asked half joking half serious. "No, it would compel me actually." I told him.

We piled in Steve's car and started driving, then Natasha called me. "malen'kaya l'vitsa," she told me. "I know he's your father, but please, stay away from him." "Well," I said. "Maybe I don't wanna do that Natasha." I told her calmly. There was a pause, then she said in a dangerously calm voice. "Libiya, please tell me you are not with Steve at this very moment attempting to help your father."

"...Sorry Natasha, its been nice knowing you. I even thought of you as a mother." I said knowing somehow that I probably would never be on trusting terms with her again. "But this is something I have to do. If I don't make it, make sure the government gets none of of anything I own.Everything goes to the person who kills me. Thank you and I'm sorry." Then I hung up. Steve looked at me with a confused face so I explained the government thing. "Steve I have had the same will since I was four." I handed a slip of paper to Sam.

"Upon my death all my stuff goes to the man who has killed me," He muttered then asked. "What are these marks for?" "The one who kills me will know." I said calmly. "Death is not a new idea to me. I should have died twenty times before now." We kept driving until we got to my fathers little apartment. I looked around briefly, there was a sleeping bag in a room, some cooking utensils in a juice bottle, several wrappers, and notebooks.

"Heads up, Cap. German Special Forces, approaching from the south." Said Sam over the radio as my father walked in. He froze when he saw me and I nodded in greeting as I did when we were in the cell. He examined me, then Steve, who had his back turned.

"Understood." He turned around and said to dad. "Do you know us?"Dad stared before saying. "You're Steve. I read about you in a museum. She's Wildfire, she was in the papers.""They've set the perimeter." Warned Sam."I know you're nervous. And you have plenty of reason to be. But you're lying." Steve insisted.

"I wasn't in Vienna. I don't do that anymore." Dad said in desperation, yet calmly. "They're entering the building." Warned Sam."Well, the people who think you did are coming here now. And they're not planning on taking you alive." Said Steve."That's smart. Good strategy." Responded dad.

"They're on the roof. I'm compromised." Sam reported as guards ran up the stairs."This doesn't have end in a fight, Buck." Said Steve as dad took off his glove to reveal his metal hand. "It always ends in a fight." He said sadly."5 seconds." Said Sam."You pulled me from the river. Why?" Demanded Steve anxiously.

"I don't know." Dad whispered."3 seconds!" Sam Warned again. "Yes, you do." Said Steve. "Breach! Breach! Breach!" Screamed Sam. Two grenades broke through the windows. One, Steve knocked back out with his shield. The other, Dad kicked across the ground to Steve, who put his shield over it to contain the explosion. Suddenly, loud thumps came from the door as it shook. Dad picked up a mattress, stopping a bullet that came through the window, almost killing him. He then threw a table against the door, bracing it against the soldiers on the outside. Two soldiers crashed through the windows and another through the door to the balcony. Dad knocked one out with a punch to the head. The second turned his gun, aiming at Dad. I pulled the rug he was standing on out from under him, causing his bullets to shoot into the ceiling. The first soldier had gotten up, but Dad used his metal arm to throw him hard across the room, while holding onto his repelling rope, causing him to stop abruptly and fall to the ground. When the third soldier tried to enter from the balcony door, Steve disarmed him and Dad knocked him out. Steve grabbed Dads arm saying, "Buck, stop!" Dad whipped around to face Steve as he continued. "You're gonna kill someone." Dad forced Steve to the ground hard. When he pulled back his arm, I prepared to use my powers to stop Dad, but instead of punching Steve's head, his metal arm crashed through the floorboards right next to him. "I'm not gonna kill anyone." Dad said, pulling a duffelbag from the hole and throwing it off the balcony to the roof of a neighboring building. Several more soldiers swung through the windows, one opening fire on Dad and Steve. In return, Dad used his metal arm to block the bullets, then pulled Steve's shield in front of him. I squared off against three soldiers, myself, using punches and tranquilizer darts to get rid of them. I turned to see Dad throw Steve at a soldier through the window to the balcony. As I finished off two more soldiers, Dad smashed one into a desk, and hit another into a closet with a cement block.

We then all heard shotgun blasts as the soldiers in the stairwell shot the hinges off the door. I quickly threw a fireball at the door, pushing it out into the hallway, instantly knocking out the tree soldiers in its path. Dad ran through, proceeding to knock out several more soldiers with hand-to-hand combat. I followed him out, and saw a soldier crashing through the skylight on a repelling rope, shooting at Dad. As he blocked with his metal arm, I shot the man with another dart. We both looked down, noting how many soldiers were rushing up the stairs. Dad then grappled one of my loaded knifes, then grabbed me and jumped on the knocked out dude on the rope. As we went down, we twirled, tranquilizing as many soldiers as we could. Finally, Dad grabbed a railing and jumped over it, leaving me descending on the rope. I could hear Steve fighting his way down the stairs, so I jumped off the guy into a corner of the staircase, starting my way back up. Steve got to the door Dad went through first. "Sam, southwest rooftop." I heard Steve say Ofer the comms. "Who the hell's the other guy?" Sam asked. "I'm about to find out," Steve replied. 'I need to get over there.' I thought. I going by my way to the closest door facing that direction, which turned out to be another hotel room. I only surprised an old man with white hair in a FedEx uniform. "Very sorry, sir!" I said, running across the room and jumping through the window. I was a bit too low to make the other rooftop, so I used my powers to boost myself. I landed just in time to see a helicopter fly away, guns firing. I ran across the rooftop as fast as I could before leaping off the other side, using my fire to soften my landing. I looked up to see Steve's head fall through a hole into an underground road. 'Oh, great. Another jump.' I thought, running as fast as I could, trying to catch up. I sprinted as fast as I could, jumping up on cars to gain speed until one police car suddenly stopped. It started up again, and as I passed the spot it was at, I saw a policeman and a shattered windshield on the road. "You stole a police car, Steve?" I asked. "Not now, Libby." A minute or so, Steve said, "Sam, Libby. I can't shake this guy." "Right behind you." Sam said. "Sam, you shouldn't be able to say that. You're not the one running after them." I retorted. "Seriously, guys. Not necessary." Steve said. "Can you guys just get him off my tail?" "On it!" I said, somehow, running even faster. I had almost caught up to them when I saw Steve's car ran into others, trying to rub off the feline fighter. Then, the car suddenly swerved and crashed through a row of barrels onto the other side of the road. As I tried following, my feet started slipping on the oily substance. I kicked off my shoes so that i was running only in my socks and continued. As I got into the next clearing, I saw Dad riding away on a motorcycle and another man lying dazed on the road. A bit after I passed the opening, I heard Sam's thrusters enter the tunnel. He slowly caught up to me and passed me. "On your left, Libby!" He said to me as he passed "Oh, come on, Sam! At least I don't need a wingsuit to do it." Looking ahead, I saw as Cap's car swerved, dodging the feline fighter. 'He's finally on the ground.' I thought. 'Good riddance.' My joy was quickly shattered as I saw it jump and grab onto Sam as he flew overhead. I was close enough to jump and grab the legs of the feline right before we passed Cap. I then saw Dad toss a bomb onto the roof of the tunnel as he sped into another opening. "SAM!" I yelled in warning. The bomb went off, showering debris down in our path. Sam quickly snapped his wings, slowing down, but this action launched the feline and I through the debris cloud right before the big stuff came down. I let go of the mysterious fighter and landed hard, rolling to a stop as I saw the masked fighter cut Dad's back wheel with his claws. Dad and the dark-clad man rolled to a stop as I heard running footsteps before Cap's vehicle started rolling toward us. The feline guy was on to of Dad for a second before Steve tackled him off and took a defensive position between the two. I began to run up and help when a dozen police cars arrived and Rhodey landed and took aim at all of us.

"Stand down, now." Ordered Rhodey. I looked behind Rhodey to see dozens of masked soldiers with guns aimed straight at us. As Steve put his shield on his back, Rhodey said, "Congratulations, Cap, Libby. You're criminals." I wasn't paying attention to anyone but my father, my papa. The police moved in and forced him to his knees. "ostanavlivat'sya" I said in a distressed voice. No one could understand me and I let the tears flow from my eyes freely. The panther guy looked at me in confusion before taking off his mask. He was Wakanda's prince! "Your highness." Said Rhodey to him as my father was pushed to the ground.

Libby's POV

"So, you like cats?" Sam asked T'Challa. "Sam." Scolded Steve. "What? Dude shows up dressed like a cat and you don't wanna know more?" Asked Sam. "Shut up Sam," I told him. "You dress like a bird." T'Challa gave a half smile.

"Your suit . . . It's Vibranium?" Asked Steve, T'Challa narrowed his eyes as he glanced at Steve. "The Black Panther has been the protector of Wakanda for generations. A mantle, passed from warrior to warrior. And now, because your friend murdered my father, I also wear the mantle of king. So, I ask you . . . as both warrior and king . . . how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?" He asked in a deadly calm.

"As long as I can stand." I told him calmly. He glared at me. "Why?" He demanded angrily. "Because He is my father." I stated as I stared him down. He looked slightly shocked and troubled.

When we arrived I spotted my father in a weird pod thingy. I stared at him with tears in my eyes, but he couldn't see me.

"What's gonna happen to him?" Demanded Steve. "Same thing that ought to happen to you. Psychological evaluation and extradition." Said a strange man. "This is Everett Ross, Deputy Task Force Commander." Sharan informed us.

"What about our lawyer?" Asked Steve. "Lawyer. That's funny. See their weapons are placed in lockup. Oh, we'll write you a receipt." Said Ross calmly while looking at me. "With me," I stated, "anything is a weapon. That folder in my hands is far deadlier than my knives in yours." I noticed he got nervous after I said that.

"I better not look out the window and see anybody flying around in that." Muttered Sam in annoyance. A few minutes later, we were walking across a closed skyway between two buildings. "You'll be provided with an office instead of a cell. Now, do me a favor, stay in it?" Asked Ross. "I don't intend on going anywhere." Stated T'Challa calmly. Sam looked at me and winked, his way of asking if I had other plans. "Net, Sem, zdes' u menya net khitrostey v rukave. (No, Sam. I have no tricks up my sleeve.)" I said in Russian, gaining a confused look from everyone.

"For the record, this is what making things worse looks like." Natasha grumbled as she came over to us. "He's alive." Said Steve, Natasha turned to look at me with hurt in her eyes. "Prosti, Natasha, pravda. No ya lyublyu yego. (Sorry, Natasha. I truly am. But I love him.)" I told her while staring right back.

I heard Tony on his phone. "No. Romania was not Accords-sanctioned. And, Colonel Rhodes is supervising cleanup." He said as he glared at us.

"Try not to break anything while we fix this." Said Natasha calmly, as she left us with Tony, who was still in his phone.

"Consequences? You bet there'll be consequences. Obviously you can quote me on that 'cause I just said it. Anything else? Thank you, sir." Said Tony as he hung up. "'Consequences'?" Steve asked.

"Secretary Ross wants you both prosecuted. Had to give him something." Tony shrugged. "I'm not getting that shield back, am I?" Steve asked sadly. "Technically, it's the government's property. Wings, too." Natasha said.

"That's cold." Sam muttered. "Warmer than jail." Said Tony, then he looked at me. "You aren't complaining." I shrugged and said. "I'm a trained thief, it's not gonna be that hard to steal my stuff back." Tony and Nat then left the room.

Wild's POV

Cairo, Egypt. An interesting city. I got here a few weeks ago and used the money I've pickpocketed from people to rent a hotel room. I've also disguised myself as a luggage boy and stole money and tips for money. That's what I was doing until I noticed something shocking. I had just swiped 600 pounds from an unsuspecting tourist when everyone just froze and stared at the TV. The news was on and they were talking about a bomb that was set off at the UN in Vienna. They then said that the main suspect was The Winter Soldier. 'Father,' I thought. I smiled. 'He's finally getting what he deserves.' My smile immediately dropped when a new thought entered my mind. 'LIBBY!' I rushed away, leaving the tourist and his luggage until I reached my room. After checking to see if anyone had entered my room, I called my sister.

"Privet, brat. (Hello, brother.)" said Libby as soon as she answered. "Libiya, pozhaluysta, skazhi mne, chto ty ne s papoy. (Please tell me you are not with Father.)" I said in a worried tone. "Menya arestovali, yesli vy ob etom sprashivayete. (I have been arrested, if that's what you're asking.)" she replied calmly, I sucked in a breath before I told her, "YA skoro budu tam, ne delay glupostey. (I'll be there soon. Don't do anything stupid.)"

I then hung up and starte packing my things for my trip.

Libby's POV

Steve and I were sitting in a conference room that we have been locked in. Two walls were glass so people could see us from the observation room. Tony walked into the room holding two copies of the Sokovia Accords and a small, black case. "Hey, you wanna see something cool? I pulled something from Dad's archives. Felt timely." Tony said after giving me a confused look. He pulled out some fancy pens from the black case. "FDR signed the Lend-Lease bill with these in 1941. Provided support to the Allies when they needed it most."

"Some would say it brought our country closer to war." Steve said. Tony looked irritated, but maintained his calm. "See? If not for these, you wouldn't be here. I'm trying to . . . what do you call it? That's an olive branch. Is that what you call it?" Tony asked.

"Is Pepper here? I didn't see her." Steve asked seriously. "We're kinda . . . well, not kinda . . ." Tony muttered in a distracted manner. "Pregnant?" Steve blurted out. "No. Definitely not. We're taking a break. It's nobody's fault." Tony said quickly.

"I'm so sorry, Tony. I didn't know." Steve apologized. "A few years ago, I almost lost her, so I trashed all my suits. Then, we had to mop up HYDRA . . . and then Ultron. My fault. And then, and then, and then, I never stopped. Because the truth is I don't wanna stop. I don't wanna lose her. I thought maybe the Accords could split the difference." Tony got up to pace. "In her defense, I'm a handful. Yet, Dad was a pain in the ass, but he and Mom always made it work."

"You know, I'm glad Howard got married. I only knew him when he was young and single." Steve said. "Oh, really? You two knew each other? He never mentioned that. Maybe only a thousand times. God, I hated you." Tony said half angrily. "I don't mean to make things difficult." Steve said innocently.

"I know, because you're a very polite person." Tony said sarcastically. "If I see a situation pointed south . . . I can't ignore it. Sometimes I wish I could." Steve stated.

"No, you don't." Tony grumbled. Steve smirked. "No, I don't. Sometimes . . ."

"Sometimes I wanna punch you in your perfect teeth. But I don't wanna see you gone. We need you, Cap. So far, nothing's happened that can't be undone, if you sign. We can make the last 24 hours legit. Barnes gets transferred to an American psych-center instead of a Wakandan prison." Tony offered. "The same goes for you Libiya." He added.

"I'm not saying it's impossible, but there would have to be safeguards." Steve stated with a frown as he picked up a pen.

"Sure. Once we put out the PR fire, those documents can be amended. I'd file a motion to have you, Libby, and Wanda reinstated . . ." Tony said. "Wanda? What about Wanda?" I demanded anxiously.

"She's fine. She's confined to the compound, currently. Vision's keeping her company." Tony said calmly. "Oh God, Tony! Every time. Every time I think you see things the right way . . ." Steve said in distress. "What? It's 100 acres with a lap pool. It's got a screening room. There's worse ways to protect people." Tony said in confusion.

"Protection? Is that how you see this? This is protection? It's internment, Tony." Steve said angrily. "Tony!" I half yelled. "Has it not occurred to you that no matter where someone is confined, they still feel trapped?!"

"She's not a US citizen." Tony defended himself. "Oh, come on, Tony." I grumbled. "And they don't grant visas to weapons of mass destruction." Tony said, looking at me. "THEY ARE KIDS TONY." Steve said furiously. "GIVE ME A BREAK! I'm doing what has to be done . . . to stave off something worse." Tony grumbled. "You keep telling yourself that," said Steve as he set the pen down. "Hate to break up the set." Steve then walked to the other corner. "I'm out, can't be that hard to break out of jail." I informed Tony.

Several minutes after Tony walked out, a psychiatrist came into Dad's cell and talked to him. The agents outside the conference room were watching the process on monitor screens, but we couldn't hear anything. Sharon then walked into the room. "The receipt for your gear." She said. "Don't bother giving me one," I told her. "I can get my knives back." She eyed me nervously. "'Bird costume'? Come on." Sam grumbled.

"I didn't write it." She said calmly. "My money is on cat boy." I told Sam. Sharon then looked around cautiously before pressing a restricted keypad and letting us watch the footage of Dad on the screen in the room. "I'm not here to judge you," the psychiatrist said calmly. "I just want to ask you a few questions. Do you know where you are, James?" Dad didn't reply. "I can't help you if you don't talk to me James." "My name is Bucky," dad responded. I saw Seve's face soften at that. Then, it turned into confusion as he looked back at the photo in his hand. It was the photo of my father. "Why would the Task Force release this photo to begin with?" He asked. "Get the word out, involve as many eyes as we can?" Sharon responded, obviously confused.

"Right. It's a good way to flush a guy out of hiding. Set off a bomb, get your picture taken. Get seven billion people looking for the Winter Soldier." Steve muttered. "You're saying someone framed him to find him." I stated calmly.

"Steve, we looked for the guy for two years and found nothing." Sam said in confusion. "You didn't bomb the UN. That turns a lot of heads." I muttered, something was off.

"Yeah, but that doesn't guarantee that whoever framed him would get him. It guarantees that we would." She followed my gaze to the man questioning my papa. 'That man is not who he claims to be... ' I thought, as Steve looked around. "Yeah." He muttered.

Libby's POV

"Yeah, but that doesn't guarantee that whoever framed him would get him. It guarantees that we would." She followed my gaze to the man questioning my papa. 'That man is not who he claims to be... ' I thought, as Steve looked around. "Yeah." He muttered. Suddenly, the lights and anything plugged in turned off. All the monitors showing what was happening with Bucky went blank. Sharon turned to Sam, Steve, and I and said, "Sub-level 5; east wing." We sprinted out of the room, down several flights of stairs to the chamber that held my father, but he was gone. The only one conscious was the doctor. "Help me. Help." He said. We found him in a heap on the floor. "Get up." Steve ordered him as he grabbed him and shoved him into the wall. "Who are you? What do you want?" He demanded angrily.

"To see an empire fall." He responded, calmly. Sam entered the room right before me and narrowly dodged a punch from the Winter Soldier's metal mist. It crushed the corner of the cement wall. "Der'mo!" I muttered, rushing forward to try to stop my dad. He punched Sam in the gut, then grabbed his chin with his metal arm and threw Sam across the room into the pod he was trapped in. I ran at Dad with fireballs in each hand. "Papa! Polslushay menya! (Papa! Listen to me!)" I yelled at him as he stormed at me with both fists clenched. I blocked his first three punches with my fireballs, but then he surprised me and swept my legs out from under me. He tried to punch my head in with his metal arm, but I rolled out of the way just in time. His fist created a shallow crater in the cement floor. I formed more fireballs and continued blocking his punches and dodged his legs until he grabbed my arm and threw me straight into the ground. Steve then punched Dad in the back, giving me some room to breathe. Dad then spun around with a punch aimed for Steve's head, but Steve ducked out of the way. However, Steve wasn't able to block Dad's other fist which hit him in the stomach, sending him back the way we came in. They kept dodging and blocking attacks until Steve's back was against the elevator. Steve dodged one punch from Dad's metal arm which dented the metal door. Then, Steve grabbed the next punch from that arm, which finally shoved Steve through the metal doors and plummeting down the elevator shaft. I was still catching my breath when Dad ran off, but Sam and I were able to move when the doctor walked up to the elevator shaft Steve fell down. "Hey," Sam said, struggling to come to. The doctor quickly ran off. "Good job, Sam. You just lost us the element of surprise," I grumbled as we scramble to our feet and started chasing him. We ran to the stairs and started climbing them. However, the mystery man was several flights ahead of us. We chased him up to ground level where we lost him in the crowd of evacuating civilians. Sam spotted the man's overcoat on the ground nearby. We looked all around but couldn't find him. "Damn it," Sam muttered. "Where's Steve?" I asked. We started our search for him and finally spotted him and my knocked-out dad sopping wet laying down by the pool. I could see a destroyed helicopter at the bottom.

Later, in an abandoned warehouse I watched my father come to. We had clamped his metal arm into a huge industrial vice. "Hey, Cap!" Sam called as Papa woke up. "Steve." He said. "Which Bucky am I talking to?" Steve half demanded.

"Your mom's name was Sarah...You used to wear newspapers in your shoes." Papa said, then chuckled a bit. "Can't read that in a museum." Steve said relieved. "Just like that, we're supposed to be cool?" "Do you remember me?" I asked, not really wanting him to know all about me.

"You were called Fireclaw," Papa said. "I went on a mission with you." "Is that all?" Steve asked and father nodded.

"What did I do?" Papa asked. "Enough." Steve responded gently. "Oh, God, I knew this would happen. Everything HYDRA put inside me is still there. All he had to do was say the goddamn words." Papa groaned.

"Who was he?" Steve asked. "I don't know." Papa whispered. "People are dead. The bombing, the setup. The doctor did all that just to get 10 minutes with you. I need you to do better than "I don't know."" Steve said in a firmer tone.

"He wanted to know about Siberia. Where I was kept. He wanted to know exactly where." Papa said. "Why would he need to know that?" Steve asked.

"Because I'm not the only Winter Soldier."

"Who were they?" Steve requested.

"Their most elite death squad. More kills than anyone in HYDRA history. And that was before the serum." Papa elaborated.

"They all turn out like you?" Sam asked.

"Worse." Papa stared.

"The doctor, could he control them?" Steve asked. "Enough." Papa muttered bitterly. "Said he wanted to see an empire fall." Said Steve. "If these guys are anything like me, he could do it. I speak 30 languages, can hide in plain sight, infiltrate, assassinate, destabilize, they could take a whole country down in one night and you'd never see them coming." I reported.

Sam took Steve to the side and my papa and I stared at each other. After they spoke Steve went to check on the entrance again and Sam came over. "You really don't remember anything more about her?" He asked gesturing towards me. Papa shook his head. "No, should I?" He asked.

"Dude, she's your daughter." Sam told him. His eyes widened. "Is that true?" He asked in shock. "...Yes." I told him sadly, then turned to Sam in annoyance. "Thanks a heap." Sam looked shocked that I was annoyed. "What? I thought you wanted him to know." He said.

I spoke softer so only Sam could hear what I said. "I didn't want him to live with that, Sam." I told him. "They wiped me again," Papa asked. "didn't they?" "Yes, Papa" I told him miserably. "What is your name?" He asked calmly. I took a deep breath, I had only learned this recently. "My full name is Libiya Dara Natalia Ivanov Barnes." I said, noting Sam's confusion I told him. "Mama couldn't decide between her name and Natasha's."
