Theseus sat at the Hermes table next to his boyfriend, eyeing the kid who'd just come back from his first quest. He could still picture it clearly in his mind: Grover, sleeping, and him and Annabeth opening up to each other for the first time.
He sighed, and looked up as Luke nudged him, concern shining clear in his eyes. "You okay, Theo?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Theo gave what he hoped was a reassuring nod, but frowned when the concern didn't go away fully. Following the blond-haired thief, Theo scraped a steak and some carrots into the fire.
"Dad," he murmured, before heading back to the table.
Luke squeezed his hand reassuringly, before narrowing his eyes a bit at Percy, with a hint of resentment in his eyes.
Theseus rolled his eyes before squeezing back, huffing slightly when Luke pouted.
Theo had had a lot of time to get used to the idea that Percy was him, just . . . younger.
He'd been at camp for about two years now, and in that time, he'd started falling for Luke.
Honestly, Theo could admit privately in the safety of his mind that he had always had a sort-of crush on the handsome counselor.
Guess he had a thing for blonds.
Luke, it seemed, still couldn't get over the fact that Percy had gotten claimed while Theo, even though it was obvious who his dad was, hadn't, and he'd been there longer.
Aside from some difference (i.e. Theo being there), Percy's first summer went the same as his had, which made sense, because he was him, and -
Never mind. Too confusing.
Either way, the summer was progressing well, except for the fact that Luke had still stolen the Master Bolt and the Helm, and that he still planned on poisoning his younger self.
His life was weird.
Either way, Theo had just lifted his fork when a flash of light appeared and a note fell into Chiron's hands.
Scanning it, the old centaur's eyebrows nearly disappeared within his hairline.
Clapping his hooves down, Chiron said, with a look at Percy, "it appears that plans have changed. This is a note from the fates, in the future."
Gasps were heard all around the pavilion.
"Yes, yes, it should be impossible, but-"
Theo snorted, cutting him off. "Lemme guess," he said, standing up, ignoring Luke's tugs and protests to get him to sit down. "A couple people from the future are gonna show up with book series about this summer, and the future?"
Chiron eyed Theo warily, like, even after two years, he still couldn't figure him out.
"Yes, but how-"
He was cut off yet again by another flash of light that, when it died down, revealed eleven people, one of them clearly an older version of Annabeth.
She stepped forward, and told the silent pavilion, "My name is Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, the official architect of Olympus, well, I was, before I was kicked out."
The last part was muttered and she raised her voice to continue. "I'm one of the seven, and a saviour of Olympus, as well as destroyer of a lot of monsters."
Stepping back, the introductions continued like that, with Piper, Leo, and Will stating their godly parentage and titles.
Then, it was the Romans' turn. "My name is Jason Grace, and I'm the son of Jupiter, former praeter of the Twelfth Legion Fulminata, destroyer of Krios, a saviour of Olympus, one of the seven, destroyer of a lot of monsters, and harnesser of lightning."
"And a blond superman that died and was brought back just for this," piped in Leo, grinning at him. "I mean, you can fly, and you have the glasses! You're basically just a blond Clark Kent."
Jason grumbled in annoyance, but Theo ignored that in favor of trying not to let Luke cutting the circulation off in the hand that he was gripping bother him. "Luke," Theo whispered, either not noticing or not caring that the older Annabeth's eyes flickered toward him and Luke, and that Romans were introduced.
"Breathe, Luke."
"But-" his boyfriend spluttered. "Grace! And Thalia- does that mean -"
"Yes."
"How are you so sure?"
" 'Cause I am. Let it go, Luke."
The two completely ignored the 'visitor's' explaining the Romans.
Theo focused on trying to calm Luke down instead of looking at his friend.
After that, the introductions went more smoothly, except that Nico and Hazel had to explain that they were born before the oath, and Calypso had to tell them that she wasn't immortal anymore, and how she got off the island.
She got a few appreciative looks, until Leo's hair burst on fire, and he sent a death glare while holding Calypso's waist possessively.
Then, it was Thalia's turn. "Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, lieutenant of the Hunters of Artemis, former pine tree" *her lips quirked a bit at that, like she was relieving a memory* "a saviour of Olympus, and, according to some people, a Pinecone Face."
Theo struggled to keep a straight face at this while twelve-year-old Annabeth *let's just call her Annie, for now* and Luke went pale, Luke losing all color in his face and sitting up straight like a metal pole was forced up his spine.
Grover's mouth dropped open and it looked like he didn't know what to say.
"Th-thalia?" Annie finally stuttered out. Thalia nodded, and there a lot of hugs and crying and comfort. Finally, she looked at Luke.
"Thalia," he breathed.
"Yeah. hi."
Again, a hug, a few tears, and some whispered assurances, and Luke was next to Theo again, hand gripping his even tighter than before, if that was possible.
Finally, they were done, and Annabeth brought out the book. "So, the book we're going to be reading is called 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief'."
A bunch of looks were sent toward the kid.
"But first," said Annabeth loudly, "someone here has to explain himself."
She sent a sweeping glare towards the Hermes table, and Theo knew she was looking at him. The breakup had been mutual, and they still had a lot of affection for each other, usually holding or dropping kisses on the cheeks or forehead, but they were broken up.
For which Theo was relieved about right now; it would be really awkward to have a boyfriend and a girlfriend at the same time. Not that he was against poly relationships, but it wasn't for him.
"Theo?" asked Luke, drawing everyone's attention. "Why is she looking at you?"
Theo sighed and bit his lip, sending a pleading gaze at his ex.
She caught her breath for a c]second, but didn't relent. "I'm sorry," she told him gently, "but I wasn't the one to make decisions."
Theo let out an explosive breath and nodded, gently distangling his hand from Luke.
"Theo, what?" Luke asked, eyes begging for explanation.
"I'm sorry," Theo told him, standing next to Thalia and Nico, who were in front of everyone.
"Okay, so I might not have told you guys the total truth of how I knew I was a demigod," he admitted sheepishly.
Thalia snorted. "Yeah, you think?" she asked loudly.
Nico snickered while Theo just gave them a dirty glared, which sobered them up quick enough.
"Perseus Theseus Jackson, pleasure," giving a short bow, and earning a lot of gasps, Annabeth rolled her eyes.
"You always were a drama queen," she said fondly, grinning.
"Actually, Uncle Z's the drama queen," Theo - Percy - corrected.
"Can't argue with that," agreed Thalia, Jason making a noise of agreement as well.
"What -"
"I'm sorry, Luke, I just - I couldn't tell you."
"Couldn't, or wouldn't?" Luke hit him with a piercing gaze, betrayal apparent in his eyes.
Theo flinched. Annabeth stepped up and put an arm around him, hugging him to her.
Theo melted into her. Even after all this time, no one knew him like Annabeth did.
"He's been here all alone, and been through some serious trauma. And we're about to read all his private thoughts to everyone here, and you're accusing him of not telling you? Besides, how would that conversation even go? Like, yeah, Luke, there's something I didn't tell you, I'm from the future?"
"I'm not that traumatized," he objected.
Cue the snorts and face-palms.
"You've been through two wars, various quests, and the pit, and you have the nerve to say that?" snorted Piper, shaking her head. "And here I thought you were an idiot before . . . "
Theo just grinned at her.
"He is still an idiot," mused Calypso, to which Theo replied with an, "I thought that had been established?"
"Two wars?" yelped Lee Fletcher.
"The pit?" asked an Aphrodite guy.
"It'll be explained."
Percy stood up from where he was sitting. "Wait, so you're future me?"
"Yup!" popping the 'p'.
"How does that work?" he asked with a frown.
Theo shrugged. "Fates. Don't pretend to know what they're thinking, it won't work. Speaking which," he turned to Annabeth. "How's your cousin?"
"How's that connected to - you know what, never mind. I don't even want to know your thought process." she shook her head, the others nodding in agreement while Theo muttered, "traitors. The lot of you."
"Anyway, Magnus is fine. Honestly, I thought, you'd be weirded out by Jason being here."
Considering he'd died two months before Theo was sent back, he should be, but, "I've seen and done a lot of crazy things," he told her, dropping a kiss to her forehead and noting in relief that there were no new scars. Of course, he was, but . . . no. not now.
Annabeth rolled her eyes fondly and pushed away. "Yeah, no shit."
At this, Chiron spoke up. "Miss Chase, while I might not be the Chiron you know, I doubt I'd let you use such vulgar language, no matter what you've been through."
Theo rolled his eyes and leaned against Thalia, who grunted under the sudden weight before adjusting and putting her head on his shoulder, both ignoring the weird looks as Nico wormed his way between them. They didn't care, they were practically siblings, it didn't matter what other people thought anymore.
They already called each other siblings, anyway.
"With all due respect Chiron," again, ignoring the various snorts and mutters of "he knows what respect is?" "Annabeth, Nico, and I have been through too much for you to tell us what words we should or shouldn't do. One example: Tartarus."
Everyone in the vicinity flinched, but no one more than Theo himself, seeming to draw in on himself and losing some color as he said, hoping that no one had caught on to the waiver as he said the word.
"I - that's impossible," stuttered the centaur.
"If it was, we wouldn't be here," Nico said, gesturing to the two and himself.
"Wait, but, are you - I mean -"
Theo bit his lip and grinned slightly at Luke's stammering.
"Me and Wise Girl dated for about two years, but the breakup was mutual, and we're still best friends. So, no, besides you, I'm not dating anyone. Why?"
"Um . . . I mean . . ."
"Luke," Theo said gently, "what I feel for you isn't a joke."
Luke relaxed slightly. "But why . . . ?"
"Percy's been extremely affectionate ever since the Giant War ended," explained Thalia.
"Gint war?" gasped Silena.
"Long story."
"But, yeah, we've all gotten used to being his cushion now and then."
"You know we're gonna have to talk later, right bro?" asked Jason.
Theo flinched slightly. "I- can it wait?"
"When we take a break, you two are going down to the cabins and having a long conversation, you hear?" said Annabeth.
Theo saluted. "Yes, ma'am!"
"Anyway, aren't we supposed to be reading a book?"
"I - yes, but -" seeming to gather himself, Chiron continued. "Where will you be sitting?"
Just as he asked that question, a couch appeared, with enough room for them all to sit comfortably and room for another.
Theo grinned and sat down next to Hazel, who was sitting next to Frank, next Jason, Piper, Annabeth, Reyna, Will, Nico, Thalia, Calypso, who was next to Leo.
Theo looked at Luke and motioned him to come over to him, which he did after some hesitation. Theo grabbed his hand and squeezed.
"So, who's gonna read first?"
"I will," volunteered Reyna.
The book shifted to Latin so she could read. But before she did, she asked, looking at Theo, "one question - what are supposed to call you?"
Several people answered.
"Seaweed Brain." Annabeth.
"Kelp Head." his cousins.
"Aquadude." Leo.
"Annoying patient." Will.
He got some weird looks from that one, but shrugged them off with an easy grin.
"I thought that was your boyfriend?" teased Theo.
"Really?" sighed Nico.
Theo nodded and rolled his eyes at his friend's antics. Luke seemed a bit uneasy, but Theo didn't mind. He'd relax soon.
"Theo."
Annabeth raised an eyebrow.
"I've been going by my middle name," he explained, getting understanding looks. "Also, Leo, don't call me Aquadude, or Aquaman, or anything like that."
Leo pouted.
Reyna flipped open to the first page. "Percy Jackson and the lightning thief," she read, "chapter one: I vaporize my Pre-Algebra Teacher."
Theo and Percy both got weird looks about that, but Theo just looked at Nico with a knowing glint in his eyes.
"How do you do that?" asked Malcom Pace.
"Monster," Theo replied easily.
And that's the first chapter! I hope you like it ;)
Please review if something doesn't make sense, I'll do my best to explain it. Minimal cursing, Leo n this story will always try to interrupt before they finish the actual curse.
Please review, and Shabbat Shalom to the Jews!
P.S. I have no idea if the chapters are gonna be once a week, once a month, once every couple of days . . . either way, I'll do my best to give you guys an update at least once every month, at worst. If not, then, well, life.
