Wendy's Revelation
An ambulance pulled into the emergency entrance of the Gravity Falls Hospital and wheeled in a large misshapen hunk of hardened cement. Only this hunk of cement had a person inside, but not just any person. Dipper Pines. The ER staff staff worked fast at trying to stabilize the teens condition. At 17 years of age he had his entire life in front of him. Tubes were put into his nose and down his throat to keep him hydrated, and monitors were put on what little exposed flesh he had.
"Son we are going to get you out of this." One Doctor told him.
"I'm sorry." Dipper said sadly. "I was stupid."
Tears ran down Dippers face as they EMTs and Firefighters worked to free him without destroying his body. His airway was restricted due to his chest having little room to expand, and the alkaline in the cement burning his flesh. But none of that mattered to Dipper, not one little bit. What mattered to him was that the person that this whole thing started with was not there. Wendy Corduroy was not there.
"Wendy..." Dipper cried softly unheard by the doctors.
In the Waiting room Wendy Mabel Pacifica Stanford Stanley and Soos were sitting waiting for good news. Wendy had cut off all ties to her so called "crew" after they dared Dipper to jump into the Cement in a construction zone. Stanford was punching the wall in anger while Stanley was staring at the floor silent. Soos held Mabel as she cried, fearing her brothers demise.
"God I hope the poor guy's okay." Wendy said.
One of the nurses reported the guests arrival to the Doctors EMTs and Firefighters in the ER as they worked to keep Dipper alive and free.
"Son I want you to talk to me. Can you tell me why did you think swimming in cement was a good idea?" One of the older Doctors asked.
"Cause I'm an idiot." Dipper said frankly, like his life was going to end should he be freed.
"An idiot? An idiot wouldn't have his family waiting in the other room worried about him. And from what I saw it looks like your sister and girlfriend are here too." The Doctor said. "What kind of idiot has a loving family and a girlfriend?"
"I don't have a girlfriend." Dipper replied. "And I never will."
"Seriously? Then who's the Ginger girl in the waiting room? As a Doctor I can tell you that's not two sisters of yours, that's one. Unless she's adopted." Another doctor said.
"Ginger? Like red hair? Long and a deep red like a summers sunset?" Dipper asked choking up.
"Dang boy. She IS your girlfriend." One of the Firefighters said.
"No she's not. I'd be the luckiest guy on earth if she was, she's everything I am not. Level headed, brave, popular, and smart. Real smart not jump into a vat of cement to impress her smart. Wendy is that special girl you can never quite have, always out of your reach." Dipper said crying more, a mixture of pain and emotion.
"You jumped in because of her? She told you to?" One of the Attending Doctors asked.
"No... her friends did and I didn't want to look like a wuss." Dipper croaked out. "I want her to like me."
One of Dippers legs is freed from the cement and the doctors start treating the flesh for the alkaline burns.
"You keep calling yourself an idiot kid. From what I have been hearing from you it doesn't feel like you're an idiot. A teenager prone to poor judgement, yes. But an idiot no." The first Doctor said. "What are you like in School?"
"I make the Honor roll. I've got a scholarship to Oxford. But after this I don't think they'll take me." Dipper replied as his left arm was freed and they put in an IV drip to help hydrate him.
"Now son we are going to need to get a Catheter in you pretty soon or your bladder is going to burst. So when we can free that part of you we'll tell you." One of the Doctors said.
"Yeah..." Dipper said pretty much giving up.
"I'm gonna go check on his guests, give them to good news of his limbs getting out." One of the other Doctors said.
She hustled down the hall to meet with the guests.
"Hey there. Masons family correct? I'm Doctor Fields. Masons arm and leg have been freed but it's going to take a while to get the rest of him out." Dr Fields said. "You're Wendy correct?"
"Yeah. Is Dipper alright?" Wendy asked in a shocked daze.
"He's stable for now. Can I talk to you for a bit?" Dr Fields asked. "Why didn't you stop him from jumping in?"
"I tried. But my friends... my old friends kept egging him on. I was seconds away from telling him that the entire thing was stupid when he jumped. I was too shocked to say anything" Wendy admitted. "Why would he do that? Dipper's always been the smartest of all of us."
"I have a good idea why he was so very stupid in his own words. Girls make boys do the stupidest things even if they don't tell them to do it." Dr. Fields explained. "I know you didn't mean it."
"Me? He did it because of me?" Wendy asked shocked. "But why?"
"Why? Look at yourself. You're gorgeous, and from what he's told us you're amazing, at least to him you are. Poor boy said any boy would be lucky to be dating you." Dr. Fields explained.
"Oh my god he still has that old crush on me?" Wendy asked crying, horrified Dipper nearly killed himself so she would pay attention to him.
"This doesn't sound like a crush. No crush makes you do stuff this stupid." Dr. Fields said.
"I did this to him." Wendy said crying.
"No you didn't! Those others did. You didn't stop him in time. But we are going to get him out and he is going to be good as new in no time." Dr. Fields said.
"Can I see him?" Wendy asked wiping tears away.
"Not yet. We still have to remove a lot of concrete." Dr. Fields said.
Dr. Fields returned to Dipper and saw him crying.
"Hey buddy. It's gonna be okay." She said.
"No it's not. My life is over. This is gonna kill me." Dipper said, tears streaming down his face. "This is the last chapter in my book."
"No it's not. This is just the 10th Chapter in a 6 book series kid." Dr. Fields said. "I don't normally make promises but I'll make an exception. You're getting out of this and you're gonna go to college, you're gonna graduate with honors, and you're gonna get the girl."
Dipper just kept crying.
"Now Pal I'm gonna have to put you under for a few hours. You're gonna wake up and I'm going to get you whatever you want to eat. What do you want buddy?" Dr. Fields asked.
"I could go for a Chicken sandwich." Dipper said with a glimmer of hope.
"Chicken sandwich it is. Just... don't expect it hot. I can't really predict when you'll be awake." Dr. Fields said patting Dippers head. "Now you have a good rest Mason."
"Okay..." Dipper said as she administered the anesthesia sending him into a deep slumber.
Hours later Dipper woke up unrestrained by Concrete but felts like shit.
"What happened?" Dipper asked weakly.
"Well the concrete caused a blood clot by restricting your blood flow but we got it with some surgery. Your skin is burned in places due to the alkaline in the cement but you'll recover from that with time. I made a promise and I kept it." Dr. Fields said. "Now you have a visitor and I think she really wants to say hello."
"Oh god no. Don't let my sister in here. She'll just make everything hurt worse." Dipper said.
"Alright... I won't let your sister in." Dr. Fields said before leaving.
30 seconds later the door opened slowly. Dipper panicked a bit thinking Mabel didn't follow directions but it wasn't Mabel coming in.
"Wendy?"
Wendy stepped inside crying as she saw Dipper in the bed, with tubes all over him.
"Hey Dip." Wendy said softly. "I'm so sorry."
Wendy approached Dipper and took his hand.
"No it's my fault I-" Dipper started rambling before Wendy kissed him to shut him up and tell him something.
Wendy pulled back after a full minute of kissing.
"I love you too Dipper." Wendy said, still crying.
The two just looked in each others eyes as the newest chapter in their lives started.
The End.
