THE ABSENCE OF THE ROSE
She had left Homicide without any explanation.
He had woken up light-hearted for the first time in his life, expecting to find her asleep in his arms, but nothing. No one. Not even at the place next to the bed, there was just a big void.
He felt a spike in her heart.
It saddened him not to have her by his side, especially in the early morning.
Why was she gone?
Leaving only the memory of one night.
He had experienced something extraordinary last night, something almost unreal. And he had thought that she had gone too!
Would he have been wrong?
Would he have misinterpreted things?
The only time in his life when he had finally opened his heart, revealing how he felt about her, she was gone, leaving him there, all alone, without any explanation!
He looked like a sad sire.
He had thought that he would find her at the station, at his office, but no one! No Eames in sight!
Hannah had summoned him to her office because he needed to talk to her.
That's when he told her the news.
- Eames resigned!
She had come by early to give him her letter of resignation, asking Hannah not to ask him for an explanation.
She had made that decision and nothing would change her mind.
Eames couldn't do it! Not after that night!
She wasn't the type to run away!
- I don't believe you!
Hannah handed him the letter, which he took with trembling hands.
He read the letter, opening his eyes wide.
It couldn't be true! And yet it was his handwriting!
But why?
In rage he crumpled the letter, threw it to the ground.
Without a word, he walked out of the office, slamming the door, before the eyes of a Hannah saddened for him.
He knew of Goren's affection for Eames! She was like his little sister and now his whole world was falling apart!
The only person he trusted had left him too!
In anger, he approached his office, throwing everything on the floor.
Eyes fell on him, but he could not care less!
One could criticize him, judge him, he didn't care anymore!
The only person he cared about was gone, leaving him alone, without any explanation!
It wasn't fair!
She hadn't told him anything, hadn't explained anything.
She had only left him a perfume, stolen as a regret in the morning.
Damn it, he had to find her and understand the why and the how.
He had the right to know!
