"I'm going to fucking kill him" Jessica threw back the last of the whiskey, swallowing it hard and shuddering at the strong alcohol running down her throat. She was truly pissed that Kilgrave had managed to escape. He was getting stronger now and Jessica was running out of time.
Jessica slammed the bottle back on the desk but with her brute force, the bottle smashed and glass shattered everywhere, the loud clink echoing in her apartment and she groaned, storming to the kitchen to find the dust pan and brush to clean up the mess. Her boots crunched on the broken glass, sweeping it up and throwing it in the bin before throwing the old pan and brush on the floor.
She needed to come up with a plan to stop Kilgrave. She was thankful that, that arsehole couldn't control her anymore otherwise he would be unstoppable. He had increased the time and the length of his mind control, which meant it was becoming difficult to fight off the innocent bystanders he'd command.
Jessica felt like a complete idiot, believing his lies in that he was letting Jessica have her free will. If he had the power to control her he would, there's no way he'd let her be free and she knew this. It was only when he escaped her interrogation cell had she realised he actually couldn't control her anymore. His command for her to let go didn't have an effect on her and she only let go from the shock. Now he was hell bent on controlling her, forcing his father, the one who had brought this power upon him to make it stronger so Jessica could be his again.
Jessica slumped on the bed, running her hands through her hair and rubbing her eyes. She hadn't slept for days and she only now was feeling the effect of it. Her super strength got in the way of her normal functioning and she often forget she needed to eat and sleep. Jessica ripped her t-shirt off her body, throwing it in the corner with the other dirty clothes and the same with her jeans, leaving her in her bra and panties. She slipped on a cami top and a pair of shorts before crawling in the freezing cold bed, covering herself with the covers.
She's never slept well, not after everything she had been through. As she curled in the duvet, she forced her eyes shut but it only made her more awake. Sighing loudly, she flung the covers off and padded in the dirty bathroom to find the small orange bottle of white pills she kept. Temazepam. It was the only thing that could force her not to think and hope that she wouldn't relive the nightmares.
Popping two into her mouth, she swallowed them hard, dry this time but usually she'd take them with the whiskey if she hadn't already downed it. Stomping back to her bedroom, she slipped back into bed and the effects of the sleeping pills came upon her, her eyes fluttering close and her head resting in the pillow.
"Please…"
"Now Jessica stop this, you've done this before, what's the difference now"
"Please…" the tears were falling nonstop down her puffy cheeks, red eyes and shaky lips.
"Just a sharp scratch now"
There it is… the needle. The damned needle that came everyday. The sharp pointy needle that brought pain and suffering to little Jessica.
The same scream erupted from her lungs, ringing in the sterile room, bouncing off the walls. Her body shook and the hands gripping her arms tightened as the plunger was pushed down and the solution poured into her blood stream. The needle was pulled out, a splatter of blood springing out from the tiny hole.
"There that wasn't so bad was it?"
"Tomorrow we will up the dosage to three mil, then we can see if there's a difference" the voices once again turned to a blur as Jessica sobbed, her tears pouring down her face and a tiny hiccup escaping.
"Now Jessica, same as last time, try to break this" the plank of wood was placed in front of her and through her teared eyes, she looked up, sniffling and coughing. Her shaky hands reached forward to grab the wood, splinters entering her fingertips as she bent the two ends of the wood, forcing the fibres to break and…
Jessica woke up with a gasp, her mouth open and dry and eyes tired and crusty. Her forehead was covered in a layer of cold sweat and her hands were shaking.
'Fuck, another nightmare'
She hated those nightmares. They were the worst. Worse than the ones about Kilgrave. She could deal with those. She knew after he was destroyed, the nightmares would go along with them, but these… no, these would stay with her for the rest of her life.
Even when she used her powers, it was a constant reminder of the nature of how she got them. The only people that knew about it was Trish, her sister and of course Kilgrave. He forced her to tell him how she got those powers. It was one of aspects that attracted her to him, they were both victims of experimentation and forced to be subjected by scientists. The only difference was that the scientists that experimented on Kilgrave were his parents whereas Jessica's were unrelated.
Jessica rose up in bed, rubbing her face and eyes, looking over at the clock. 12:00. She didn't even care that it was the middle of the day. Sure, she had wasted a morning which she could have spent trying to defeat Kilgrave but it was the most sleep she had gotten in a while, even if it was haunted by a nightmare.
Jessica dragged herself from her bed, her feet dragging across the cold floor into the bathroom. She looked dead, almost like a zombie. Her face was pale and blotchy, her lips looking blue and her black eyes droopy. If she was under Kilgrave's control he would have commanded her to fix herself up. She hated when he dressed her up, making her wear bright coloured clothes… purple to be exact. He loved it.
It was a strange colour for a man with so much power… purple.
Jessica brushed her teeth, spitting the toothpaste into the sink, seeing a pool of blood sliding down the ceramic into the sink hole. Gazing back in the mirror, she noticed a small cut on the inside of her lip. She must have done it again… bit her lip during the nightmare. That was becoming a regular thing now along with clenching her fists so tightly that her nails cut her palms.
Jessica wiped the blood away from her lip, throwing the toothbrush onto the side and yanking the bathroom cabinet open. Her eyes landed on the small orange bottle of pills. Sertraline. If it wasn't for Trish, she would have depended on the bottle as her medication but Trish was insistent that she get some proper help. Kilgrave had really messed her up. After being controlled for that many months and having no free will, anyone would be in Jessica's position.
Jessica leans over the sink, hands gripping the sides of the ceramic and her head hanging down. She was a mess, a big fucking mess and she wound't be better until Kilgrave was gone. He was fucking everything up, hurting innocent people and Jessica felt guilty for it. She couldn't give him what he wanted and now people were dead because of it. But she couldn't let it get to her. The only thing she could do was get rid of him so that he couldn't hurt anyone else… especially her. Jessica took a deep breath, flinging her head up and shut the cabinet, her reflection looking back at her.
"Hello Jessica" that big, evil grin shined back at her through the mirror and Jessica's eyes widened, her head and body whipping round to meet those dark brown eyes.
Before she could even react, she felt a kick in her stomach, pushing her into the sink, the hard edge hitting her back. A loud yelp escaped her as she clutched her stomach, stumbling over her feet backwards and a loud crack sounded behind her, indicating damage to the sink. The ceramic broke in half with the sink falling to the floor and shattering into pieces.
Jessica looked her, her mouth gaping in shock and before she could react again, his hands grabbed her cami, yanking her out the bathroom and flinging her on the floor, her body rolling across the floor and landing on her front.
"Ahh" she groaned, her hands immediately pushing on the floor to get up but a hard shoe pressed on her back, forcing her back to the ground. Her head slammed on the floor, pain rushing through her muscles in her back and to her neck. She felt a knee press into her spine and a hand grip her black hair, pulling her head back and exposing the skin on her neck.
"I think it's your turn to be knocked out and wake up with a bloody headache" his voice gritted next to her ear and the sharp scratch of a needle entering her neck was the last thing Jessica felt before complete darkness took over her.
Hey so I hope you like the first chapter. This story has a bit of a different background to how Jessica got her powers so it's not the same as the series but please leave a review and let me know what you think
