This story is based on the Fossil Fighters trilogy

Fossil Fighters is owned by Nintendo and is not my property.

Will be told in the POV of Zina, my OC. Well, enjoy :)

Chapter 1:

"Are you being serious?!" I asked in annoyance over the phone with my boss.

"I'm sorry, but we've experienced a lot of backlash from your latest article... and this is the fifth time it's happened," my boss said on the other line, me frowning at that.

"So I'm basically being fired for telling the truth?! Well, since I don't have a job anymore, YOU SUCK! And that's the truth!" I shouted into the phone before then hanging up, me then feeling the need to punch the pillow on my couch and I then screamed in annoyance.

My name was Zina Zori and I had just gotten fired from my job with the newspaper company because I was telling the true side of the stories instead of covering up the truth for others' benefits. And the story that broke the camel's back? Me talking about how the Chinese's social credit system was being used to strong-arm the citizens into obeying the Chinese government! It was the truth, but the media did nothing but praise it.

"Ugh... why can't I just get a break for a change?..." I groaned before I then looked at the video game that I had to close before getting the call from my boss. Fossil Fighters. I was going to make a new profile so I could experience the story again. "At least I know nothing bad has ever happened by playing video games," I smirked as I then picked up the game and turned it on with a flip of the DS. I smirked at the very old-looking graphics before then pushing the button to go into the first part of the adventure... but then, something shocking happened. Literally! I somehow got zapped by what felt like 10 thousand volts of electricity out of bloody nowhere! And I then passed out, wondering what the heck had just happened.

...

...

...

"...ey...ake...up!...wake..up...WAKE UP!" a voice shouted at me that I gasped awake at, me looking all over the place and me gasping awake.

"Augh... my aching head... what's going on?" I asked in confusion as I tried to get my bearings, wondering why my head felt fuzzy.

"That's what I could say. You just fell out of the sky and fell into the fountain! It's remarkable that a headache is all that happened to you!" the voice said, me then finally being able to get my eyes to stay straight as I then looked around a bit... and when I did, I gawked at what I saw. The fountain... the boat at a small pier, a hotel, a laboratory, and a coliseum?!

"WHOA!" I gawked as I jumped up and saw the one that saved me was none other than a girl who was wearing a short-sleeve shirt, short shorts, and had a brown hat on her head.

"Well, you suddenly got pretty active! What's your name, miss? I'm Tipper!" the girl smirked... and it was then that I looked at my hands... they, as well as everything around me, looked like they were from the FMV videos from Fossil Fighters Champions! And not only that, but I felt real-world pain, this girl was Tipper, and I was in the very first area of Fossil Fighters 1?!

If this is a dream... then I'm going to need to write ALL of this down when I wake up! I thought to myself as I then looked at Tipper and I simply brushed myself off.

"Uh... nice to meet you, Tipper... my name's Zina... can you tell me where I'm at? I'm still kind of fuzzy," I said, lying intentionally. I doubted she'd believe me if I told her everything...

"Well, you're currently on Vivosaur Island, the central hub for Vivosaur fighting! If you want, I could help you out by giving you a place to stay at the hotel," Tipper said as I simply smiled.

"I think I'd like that... I can't really go back to where I was as of current, since I'm pretty far from home... so I'd like a place to rest," I smiled, Tipper then leading me to the hotel with her hand holding onto mine... though I was surprised at how she was running me over there and I almost petered out when we finally got into the hotel. She then went to the front desk to speak to the hotel manager, who looked different than in the games. He looked more like Estavon from Zack and Cody.

"Why hello there, Tipper. Who is this?" the man asked with a smile.

"This here's my new friend Zina. I wanted to give her a room at this hotel," Tipper smiled as the hotel guy then looked at me and smirked.

"Do you happen to have a Fossil Fighters' license, by chance? Because we offer free rent to those with a license," he asked as I then grinned widely and looked at Tipper.

"You know... I think I'm going to have to do that first before getting a hotel room. Could you possibly help me out there, Tipper?" I asked, her smiling at me widely.

"Of course I can! Follow me and I'll give you the rundown of becoming a beginner Fossil Fighter!" Tipper smiled as she was about to take my hand again and I simply let her drag me off, me needing to basically use my toes in order to keep up with her, me then wheezing when we finally got inside of the research center and seeing the woman at the front desk, me knowing her name as Wendy and her looking exactly like her game counterpart, but in good quality... was this really a dream? Because if I was really in the world of Fossil Fighters... I had to look at Tipper before she spoke.

"Tipper, I have a question for you," I said, her nodding at that.

"Yeah, what is it?" she asked.

"Can you pinch my arm? I want to make sure I'm not dreaming," I said, her then doing so and me gasping at the pain afterwards. "OW!..." I exclaimed before then looking around and gulping... it was true. I was really in the world of Fossil Fighters?...

"Um... is something the matter, miss?" the receptionist asked as I simply sighed and nodded.

"Well... yeah, something is the matter," I frowned as I felt I could at least say one thing to Wendy and Tipper. "Tipper, you remember when I fell from the sky, like you said? And fell into the fountain?" I asked, her nodding at that.

"Yeah, you kinda spooked me, since that's where I usually practice my running skills," she admitted.

"Well... the reason I fell from the sky is because... well, I'm not quite sure how, but I'm not from this universe... but from a completely different one," I said, Wendy looking at me with a smile.

"You sure have a vivid imagination, miss," she smirked at me as I facepalmed and spoke.

"Tell me, is the president of the United States named Joe Biden? Or do we even have a United States in this world?" I asked, that making the duo's frowns appear on their faces.

"Uh... who and what?" Tipper asked as I sighed.

"I thought that'd be your response... see what I mean? My world doesn't even have these things called Vivosaurs. The most we're able to revive from the dead in my world are bacteria," I sighed as Tipper then saw that I looked a bit forlorn and held onto my hand.

"I know it might not mean much... but I believe every word," she said, me smirking at that as Wendy nodded.

"And if Tipper believes you, then I will too..." she smirked as I then breathed in and sighed.

"Okay... thanks. But try to keep that secret, okay? I doubt anyone would be willing to believe that story and, quite frankly, if they did believe me, they'd want to do stuff to me," I said, Wendy nodding.

"We promise," Wendy smiled as Tipper nodded. I then felt a bit of relief afterwards... sure, I'd never see any of my friends back home again, but it's not that I had much to go back to, considering that I'd lost all of my family to sickness (none because of the Coronavirus) and that I'd lost my job. I was just lucky to have a new start... in dinosaur land, no less! "Anyways, is there a reason that Tipper brought you here?" Wendy smiled.

"Actually, the hotel manager said that they offered free rent to Fossil Fighters... and I wanted to know if I could be able to get started as one? I don't really have any money on me that would work in this world, you see," I said, Wendy smirking at that.

"Oh, you want to be a Fossil Fighter? That's great! I'll contact Doctor Diggins immediately!" Wendy smiled as she then got on the pager. "Hello? Doctor Diggins? You've got a new potential Fossil Fighter here. Can you please come here and get them started?" We then waited for a few seconds before the pager then responded... in the voice of Diggins, who sounded an awful lot like what I'd expect him to sound. A respectable voice with just a little bit of nerd to it.

"I'll be right out, Wendy! Do me a favor and get their license put together, okay? I'm almost finished getting prepared," Diggins said as I smirked.

"Very well, doctor," Wendy said before looking at me. "I'm going to need to ask you some questions, okay?" I simply nodded at her. "What's your favorite dinosaur?" she asked, me smirking at that.

"The Therizinosaurus, by far, mainly because it's got a name similar to mine," I smirked. I also would've said because I had just as poor eyesight as one without my contacts, but I didn't want to tell too much too quickly.

"What year were you born?" she asked.

"Depends. What year is it currently in this world?" I asked.

"It's uh... 2021," Tipper said, me smirking at that.

"Huh... in that case, I was born 19 years ago, in the year 2001," I smiled truthfully.

"And what is your full name?"

"Zina Teresa Zori," I said, including my middle name because reasons. Wendy then put the stuff into the computer and then I smiled at how she then got a camera out and looked at me with a smile.

"Say, dino butts!" she smirked as I then had to hold in my laughter while saying it.

"Dino butts... hahahaa!" I failed as I then got my picture taken, but I was lucky that the photo actually came out good and that it didn't come out when I started to laugh.

"Low bar for humor, huh?" Tipper asked as I simply smiled and nodded. Wendy then finished up with the process and got me my starting license JUST as Doctor Diggins appeared, me smiling at him when he appeared.

"Ah, a new face to the scene? Nice to meet you. My name is Doctor Diggins, the head of research on Vivosaur Island. And what's your name?" he asked me with a smile.

"I'm Zina Zori. And I'm hoping to get a good gig as a Fossil Fighter. It'd be better than my old job by far," I smirked.

"Okay then. Now that you have your license, I'll lead you to the main area that you'll get accustomed to very quickly with your new occupation," Diggins said as he led me to the door on the right and I then went inside of it to see the robot and I smirked at it.

"Oh my gosh! A robot!" I smiled. Sure, I knew KL-33N existed already, but this was the first time I was face-to-face with a robot that had actual sentience!

"Greetings! Bzrrt! I am KL-33N! Boop! I aim to assist in cleaning fossil rocks, cckkssshhh!" he said as I looked at Diggins with a smile.

"Since you're getting started, I'll go ahead and give you a starting fossil to work with. Because Fossil Fighting has only been around for a single year, we can only revive a dinosaur to become a Vivosaur if we can clean up the head fossil. We then store their existence inside of special Dino Medals that you can sort through with special machines. But you can't really use them unless you have more than 5 Vivosaurs in total," Doctor Diggins explained as he then gave me a fossil rock and laid it on the table, me seeing the table looked exactly like the fossil cleaning mini game. I then was about to get the first instructions from Doctor Diggins... but then, something shocking happened. I accidentally touched the fossil rock with my finger... and we were all shocked at what happened afterwards. The entire rocky layer covering the fossil actually turned to dust... while the fossil was in MINT condition!

"WHOA!" I gawked at it, mainly because I was just as shocked as Doctor Diggins was! I had just gotten a perfect score... without even using a single hammer swing or drill mistake! "D-Did I just... how the hell did I do that?" I asked in surprise as Doctor Diggins looked at me in confusion.

"I... don't know... but, can't look a gift Velociraptor in the mouth! KL-33N, revive this fossil for us, please?" Doctor Diggins asked as KL-33N then took the fossil head and carefully put it into a reviving station and I smiled at how the creature that appeared from the Dino Medal was none other than Spinax, the first dinosaur to obtain from the game. And because of it being a Vivosaur, it was converted into a Dino Medal immediately after it was revived, but I smiled at it regardless.

"Impressive, Zina! Now that you've gotten your first Vivosaur, you can get access to Greenhorn Plains. Just simply show your new license to miss Beth at the pier and you can get a boat to the area in question," Doctor Diggins smiled, me smirking at that widely.

"Thanks! I'll get going right away!" I smiled as I then went to the area in question... but of course, I came across a particular person on the way over there, it being one that I saw had an actual mouth on him when looking at him in good quality.

"Oh, hello there, miss," the kid said, me seeing he looked to be at least 14 years of age. It was Holt, the first other fighter you met in the game, but in the training area.

"Hey there, kid. You a Fossil Fighter too?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I am! I'm actually rank 3, but I'm getting better. What rank are you?" he asked me.

"I just started, believe it or not. I was actually going to go to Greenhorn Plains so I could find some more fossils to revive," I said, him smirking at that.

"Good luck, fellow Fossil Fighter. My name is Holt. And yours?" he asked me.

"Zina's the name," I said, me then going to Beth at the docks and seeing she looked much more like she were a sailor instead of what she actually looked like in the game.

"Hi there. Are you Beth?" I asked her.

"Yes, I'm Beth. Are you hoping to go somewhere?" she asked as I then presented my license.

"I was hoping to go to Greenhorn Plains," I said, her nodding as she then pushed a button and then a boat then appeared.

"Hey there, mates! Hop aboard!" the captain said, me smirking at how he sounded a lot like a pirate. I then got onto the boat and sat down inside of the cabin, me then deciding to simply look out towards the sea while he drove as I then started to think on stuff.

Why did I get sent here?... How come it happened after I got some kind of strange electrical shock?... And why does it seem that I've started the adventure as the main character?... I'm super confused... but if I am stuck in this world, at least I can do something worthwhile... especially with my strange new ability to clean dirty fossils with just my hands... could I do that for all the fossils I touch? And if so, should I try to get some fossils with gloves? I don't want them hurt, after all... and if I were able to meet Rosie and Duna in person? They were so nice and cute, maybe I could get both of them as potential friends?... Depends on how old they are, I guess...
