Author's Note:

Greetings readers, I bring you something new to read of a blast from the past from my old fan fiction story days that will be probably new or not so new to some of you long-time or new readers of my fanfiction stories here online.

This is a revised version of this, another story that I had written years ago (literally back in the early 2000s in maybe 2005 or 2007) in the past alongside other Harry Potter fan fiction stories I had written and posted on various Harry Potter fan fiction site online under my old alias author pen names as a fanfiction writer, CassandraMalfoy and GothicAnn87 I used to go by. Long ago, this story had come to being written by me when some evil, but fun-loving Plot Bunnies had attacked and ambushed me. The plot bunnies had given me the inspiration to write up this story. Originally, when I had written the story, planned the plotting, written a whole notebook filled with fan fictional story summary notes, and graphic story building notes; chapters were planned and over time written up for this entire story. (Yes, pre-college teenage and going into college Freshman year for me back then was that thorough with having handwritten fan fiction notebooks for various fandom fan fiction stories...pity some of those notebooks and CD discs I lost over the years. There were a total of at least up to eight chapters (nine if you include this prologue chapter) that were originally completed written by me previously before I had to take time away from writing due to college, real-life issues happening at that time, along with some fan fiction sites fandom wise going out of being online publicly due to sites crashing, the old fanfiction dot net archive crash in the mid-2000s happening, and other things that had gone on at that time.

But now I'm back with this story, having rewritten and revised it to share with you all. Fair warning, this is a Draco/Hermione ship/coupling story, So read at your own risk Potter fans. I've always adored the fan-fictional ship pairing of Hermione with Draco besides other ship pairings I love reading, so writing this was special for me then and now. (However, if you're not a fan of this ship or this kind of alternate universe story, I highly suggest that you turn back now, click the back button to exit out of this story, and to read it. You've all been warned, If you don't have a problem with reading this, then please read on.)

This story is dedicated to my fellow Potter friends, Fellow Draco/Hermione shippers, and to all of my Beta-Readers.

I hope you all will enjoy reading this new-revised story so please enjoy.

Prologue: The Start of Things to Come

Everyone on the Hogwarts Express was chatting away and just having fun as they always had done on the trip to the school as they had done since the age of eleven, on the first of September. It seemed everyone was in good, cheerful spirits. Everyone except one Gryffindor was all alone. She was sitting inside a compartment by herself. Her brown eyes now had more of a darker depth of them while her hair was still bushy brown in its usual fashion.

Her skin complexion was pale like a victim with a slight touch of the plague, while her body figure was uncertain of being healthy since her school robes and uniform looked a bit baggy upon her frame. She was in silence, reading a book. However, it wasn't a magical school textbook on any of the regular subjects she would have read or any of the summer school books she had been assigned to read for homework. It was just a simple hardcover edition of a Muggle book. It wasn't just any normal or regular Muggle book for that matter.

It was a book on Edgar Allan Poe's works of poetry, along with other collections of sonnets and poems of Gothic and dark content writing.

They were the readings that others would have probably found appalling and wrong of her to be reading. But the girl, who was now becoming a young woman, didn't care.

She didn't care or give a damn about what others thought of her now. She had changed.

After her fifth year, she had been hit hard by the depression and had not been able to pull herself out of her dark thoughts. This depression had been caused by the untimely departure of the two most important people in her life...losing her parents.

Now with them gone, she was living currently with another of her loved one's relations. But that wasn't the end of her bad string of luck. All of the owls or letters her friends sent her were all ignored, and she never replied.

Then soon after her school shopping in Diagon Alley, she had ended up crossing paths with her so-called friends. The four had ended up getting into a heated argument about the whole thing.

Thanks to the little sister of one of these "best friends", her secret feelings for their long-term rival had been revealed. That had been, she reasoned, the main reason why the friendship had ended. The friendship of the famous trio had ended with the words, "Fine then…come back to us when you've cleared your head and have stopped being such a sodding drama queen."

Isn't it amazing that when you think you can trust someone with a secret, they go and tell another behind your back? She let her mind leave those thoughts as she had silently accepted that it was their choice, even though her heart was still breaking as a result.

Then, looking out of the half-opened door of the compartment, she noticed something. Some students outside were whispering quiet voices about something. They looked directly at her and whispered some more while giving her looks of complete disgust, it was as if she were a vile hideous rodent or magical creature.

She sneered at them and then quickly slammed her door shut and sat back down in the compartment seat. Now she knew how others would treat her once she'd arrive at the school. She would be marked as an official outcast and would be treated differently by her housemates and everyone else. Her life would change more. She hated it.

It wasn't fair at all - losing those important to her, losing her friendship with those that were now lying, backstabbing gits. She had no one left.

But did she? She didn't know anymore. The only comfort she had was her cat, Crookshanks, sitting in her lap, trying to cheer her up with his purring.

My life, Hermione Jane Granger thought to herself as the scarlet train sped further towards Hogwarts, is going to hell.

And now all she needed was someone to take her away…
