Chapter One: Worthy Of A Great Power

Yuuei. If you haven't heard of this prestigious school, then you've been living under a rock you're entire life. It's produced some of the best heroes Japan has ever seen. It was made famous when the Symbol of Peace, All Might, left the halls of the school and stepped into the limelight. All Might is regarded as the best hero ever, so Yuuei was decided to be amazing just by association.

I've admired All Might since I was born, but I was born into a world of superpowered individuals as one of the few in my generation to lack such an ability. It crushed me, but I never gave up. One day I would take a trip that would forever change my life. My name is Izuku Midoriya, and this is the tale of how I became a hero!

I walked down the sidewalk, thinking about my day. It was pretty crappy, even if you didn't have the context of my usual day, which was pretty bad as is.

It was pretty good to start with. I got to see the debut of a new heroine who called herself Mount Lady, who was able to take down a enormous villain with one kick. Her name indicated what her Quirk was, the ability to grow to an overwhelming size. Her strength seemed to be proportional to her size, so it wasn't just a size enhancing Quirk. But I didn't really have the time to wonder about her power before my day really got started.

Then it went to the gutter in a hurry. Kacchan was even more of an asshole than usual. His teasing had been normal until their teacher decided it was a good idea to announce to the entire class that I intended to try and enter Yuuei's Hero Course, which caused him to go into a blazing inferno of anger.

He had managed to contain the most of it until after class, but then when everyone had left he warned him to not even think about trying out and said to take a swan dive off the roof. But then he also chose to incinerate my latest hero journal and toss it out the window. I had retrieved afterward, but it was all but useless.

I found myself halfway down the road under the bridge that blocked out the sun. I heard an odd rattling that caused me to stol and look for the strange sound. I didn't think to look at the sewer lid, which burst into the air and a slimy villain leapt forth from.

He seemed to be out of breath, so I tried to take the opportunity to try and make a break for it. But he saw me attempting to flee and shot some sort of tendril that wrapped around my waist, "Oh no you don't! I need a suitable vessel, and you'll do just fine," the horrible voice of the man said.

Slowly but surely, I was pulled into the center of the glob-man. I tried to resist by clawing at him, but my fingers just barely dug into the slime, causing seemingly no pain to him. My vision was beginning to blur, and I had no foreseeable way out of this.

Just then, I was barely able to make out the large figure of a man who had stepped out of the sewer and onto the street behind the blob. I could hear his booming laugh and I knew who it was. Then he said his catch phrase, only reaffirming it.

"There's no need to worry! Why? Because I am here!" Then everything went black.

I woke up in a strange place. I could tell it wasn't a hospital because jt definitely wasn't comfy and that it wasn't outside because it was cold. I decided to see where I was and opened my eyes.

I could see seven seats in a row, seven oddly demonic-looking statues, and a glowing sphere hovering above a pedestal. Then I noticed a frail elderly man standing right in front of me, leaning on a strange stick for support. I quickly got to my feet and introduced myself. "Hey, I'm -"

The old man interjected. "I know you are, Izuku Midoriya. I know all about you..." Okay. A little weird, but let's roll with it. "I brought you here for a very special reason. But first, I might as well tell you a story, a tale with a very important lesson to be learned from."

Orange particles came from the tip of his walking stick, which must've been some sort of fake wand, and he was using his Quirk to do what was happening. Only question was, what was it?

"Long ago, there was a man named Teth-Adam. He was given an extraordinary power, the power of the gods, and for a time, he proved to be worthy of such a power. But then, a group of criminals snuck inside his family's home and murdered them all. Adam was filled with hate, and unleashed what you know as the Seven Deadly Sins upon the populace. My family and I stopped them, but I was the only one to remain. Grief stricken, I banished him and vowed to gift the power to a person of pure heart."

Wait. He gifted the power to that Adam guy? Wouldn't he be ancient if he had? He looked old for sure, but definitely not that old.

"But I believe that you may be that person of a pure heart."

I shook my head in denial. "No, no, no, if you should give your power to anyone, it should be Kacchan! He's so much braver and cooler than I am and..."

"Have you not been listening!? This 'Kacchan' you speak of - He is arrogant, self-absorbed, and jealous!" he shouted with the look of an angered lion.

After a short silence, he quietly said, "My time is coming to an end. You are the best option available, whether you believe it or not."

He held the walking stick out in front of him so that it was right in front of the both of us. "Take a hold of my staff and shout my name. Once you have, my power will flow through your veins." But there was one problem.

"What is your name, sir?"

The old wizard(?) shouted, "The Wisdom of Solomon, Strength of Hercules, Stamina of Atlas, Power of Zeus, Courage of Achiles, and the Speed of Mercury!"

Okay, that didn't really help. Think, Izuku. What did those seemingly random phrases mean? Solomon, Hercules, Atlas... Wait a second! It was an acronym!

I took ahold of the staff and yelled, "Shazam!"

The wizard said his final words, "Share your power. Fill out the Council of Wizards." I saw the wizard turn to dust and then nothing else.

After the second blackout I'd had today, it was starting to get a little repetitive. I groaned loudly as I stood up and realized my voice was a lot deeper all of a sudden. "Woah..." I absentmindedly said as I stood up and looked at my hands. I looked in front of me for a moment and saw All Might facing away from me and I noticed how much taller I was now.

All Might seemed to have heard me speaking and turned around. He said, "Oh! Hello there... You seem to be a hero, but I don't recognize you. Are you some American hero or something?"

He switched to English and spoke, "Hello! Pardon me for asking, but what's your name, young man?" How did I understand him? Wait, Wisdom of Solomon... maybe he could speak different languages now.

Okay. Don't overreact, you're just talking to the greatest hero the world has ever known. Quick, gotta think of a name. Maybe I could use the wizard's name? He certainly couldn't object now.

"My name's Shazam! It's nice to meet you, All Might! I'm a huge fan!" I firmly shook the pro hero's hand after he outstretched it.

All Might asked, "Shazam, did you by chance see a boy with green hair walk by here? He kind of looked like you, but his hair was different."

I quickly came up with a lie and said, "Oh, that was my son! I hope he didn't bother you... Why do you ask?"

He flashed him his trademark smile and boomed, "Why I just wanted to give him my autograph! I suppose you'll just have to hand it to him later!"

All Might turned around and jumped into the sky, not noticing a soda bottle filled with what looked like the villain from earlier fall out of his pocket as he flew away. Wow. I guess my eyes can see super far now. Better go find out where that bottle fell to or else something bad might happen.

I took off running, focusing on looking for the bottle. That's why I didn't notice that I was currently running at over one thousand miles per hour, or roughly one thousand six hundred and nine kilometers per hour. Wisdom of Solomon sure was nice.

It didn't take me long to find it, but by the time I did, it was too late.

There was a large crowd surrounding a burning building, if I could remember correctly it used to be an arcade. I could see through the smoke, unlike the other people in the crowd. I could see he had a hostage, and it was someone close to me.

The hostage was Kacchan, otherwise known as Katsuki Bakugou.
