Yes, I hear you all now...
"Why oh why are you starting another story with so many unfinished!?"
Well... although Last Resort is one that I am desperate to get finished, I feel like I'm forcing it, which will only end up damaging the overall result. Plus, I have been so busy that I just can't sit down and concentrate on the plot... but here's an idea that popped up and I just had to get out!
The next chapter is pretty much done and I'm hoping to update every Sunday with this one. It isn't going to be a long one, probably similar to Declaration Day. If you like it, Please let me know! If you hate it, I want to know!
Enjoy!
P.S. pretend (if you have) that you have not seen episode 2 and 3 of season 4 yet, as this is not cannon, but may have slight spoilers form 'Monster Fu' and 'Truth'
There was no one.
She was tasked with facing this duty alone, and Marinette felt helpless after having to put the safety of Paris before herself once again. Her constant cancellation of plans had caused her friends to become frustrated with her this morning, but how could she tell them? How could she explain the reasons for not being able to participate in another outing organised by her friends?
There was only one person who could know what she was going through, but sharing the burden with her leather bound partner dod not seem to be something Marinette could bring herself to do. That would just not be fair on Chat Noir. She was the Guardian, it was her responsibility.
'If I could just stop Hawkmoth, this would all be over!'
Marinette sat in her room, thoroughly dejected.
The knock on her trapdoor from below went completely unnoticed, but the voice that followed after, pulled her out of her misery.
"Marinette?"
The girl sniffed as she looked over to the closed door that the voice called to her from on the other side.
"It-its me, Marc, can I talk to you for a sec?"
The door remained closed and Marinette crawled over to it as the Kwami, currently in her company, made themselves scarce. She opened it, and peered down to see the shy young man looking unsure of himself as he stood on the stairs leading to her room.
"Now isn't a great-"
"-time, I know," he sighed, looking anywhere but at her, "but I think I can help."
The ravenette's brow furrowed as she moved back to allow him to clamber up. As Marinette wrapped her arms around her legs when they bent up into her chest, Marc sat next to her, mirroring her position.
"Pl-please don't, freak out." He started hesitantly, as Marinette's crease in her forehead deepened. "I know what Hawkmoth wants." Marc looked at her intently, "an-and I know you and Chat Noir are the only ones who can help him to find peace."
Marinette must have been dreaming. "I-I'm sorry Marc-" it must have been the recent thoughts of how she could bring an end to the terror plaguing Paris playing with her imagination. "-I don't think I heard you correctly,.. c-can you repeat that please?"
The young man beside her took one of the ravenette's hands and gave it a nervous yet reassuring squeeze. "Marinette, I need your help, and this is when I am supposed to ask for it."
Marinette pulled away from her dark haired school friend, "no, I don't, what?"
Marc sighed as he pulled the trap door shut, "I'm-I… my name isn't Marc…" he stuttered out while the secret herone's eyes widened at him as the young man rubbed his face and looked her straight in the eye with his big green orbs. "My name is Hugo, and you-you're my maman, I'm from the-"
"No no no! This isn't real!" Marinette held her head in her hands as she shook her head of the illusion her mind had obviously created.
"It is, I am," his hand found her shoulder and the young woman flinched away from him. "Marinette, please, I know you are Ladybug, I know who Chat Noir is, an-and I'm here… to help you… to bring, my uh, my grandma, back… and to end Hawkmoth's reign over Paris."
Chat Noir stood in the rafters of the Eiffel Tower. The hero had received a very distressed call from his lady and had snuck out of his Saturday morning fencing practise by asking Kagami to cover for him. The blonde Parisian saviour did not like how stressed his partner had sounded on the message, and knew he needed to make himself available to meet her as soon as possible.
The sound of feet landing behind him, caused Chat to turn around with a concerned look resting on his features; the blonde's brow creased further when he saw that his lady was accompanied by a new hero.
"Chat, we really need to talk."
The leather bound hero could see the puffiness of his partner's eyes and immediately scooped her up into a hug. Holding her tight to his chest, he saw the new, by the looks of it, bee themed hero smile softly at the two of them. The leather bound hero's eyes narrowed suspiciously as he spoke quietly next to her ear.
"What's happened Bug? Who's this and why are you upset?"
Ladybug leaned away from her partner, keeping her hands on his chest as she searched his concerned green gaze. "Let him tell you, so-somethings that only you know, an-and tell me if he's correct… please?"
"I don't-"
"You will," she wiped her nose and stepped away from them so she was out of ear shot as a transformed Hugo approached a very confused and troubled Chat Noir.
The black and yellow striped hero lifted the yellow visor that had been hiding his eyes, and the black mask underneath made the green of the young man's eyes standout.
"I know who you are," the yellow and black hero spoke quietly as Chat's eyes widened, "I know you're Adrien, and th-that you… are my papa."
"Wha-"
"My name is Hugo, I am your son from the future, an-and I'm here to help you…" he trailed off as Chat seemed to step away in a slight panick from him, "I-I'm here to uh," he gulped, "I'm here to...br-bring back my g-grandma, an-an' stop grandpa from t-terrorising P-Paris."
Chat was convinced he had hit his head. The blonde was seconds away from slapping himself silly when the young man before him dropped his transformation to reveal the teen he knew as Marc under the mask.
"Marc?!" Chat gasped, his mouth hanging open.
"Just," the dark haired man glanced to where Ladybug was sitting on an adjacent beam, "just let me tell you some things from your childhood, th-things that only, your mother...would know."
