The air in the courtyard was electric. The rows upon rows of young adults brimming with excitement with their boisterous ambience were barely contained to their rambling speech between one another. So many of them were on the verge of leaping out of their seats with their unstoppable enthusiasm.
The row of teachers elevated on the high podium watching them didn't interrupt their premature celebration after the several years they had spent training beneath them. Instead, they simply observed their well-earned joy with small, yet proud smiles gracing their faces.
From inside the massive body of students shifting together, there was only one green-haired boy left completely still in his chair. Even with all of his classmates up and about loudly chatting to one another, he remained firmly planted in his seat staring down at the card in his hands with shaky hands.
The personal license that was finally in the boy's grasp was the culmination of three years of training at the most prestigious hero school in Japan, U.A High School. The rumors surrounding the building's intense education turned out to be well earned, as even the very act of applying for the hero course had been grueling and intense for the young adult. But it had all been worth it to see his face and name staring back at him on the card.
Name: Midoriya Izuku
Hero Name: Deku
Izuku didn't know how long he had been looking at his license with his wobbly smile while he practically vibrated in his seat. The sounds of a microphone coming to life ahead of him eventually stole his attention, pulling his head to look ahead of himself. He already knew where the person was preparing to speak, and thus craned his head up to spot them as the rest of the students fell into a respectful silence.
"Students of U.A. Today marks the end of your training, the result of your determination towards your goals. For three years have you pushed yourself further and further to your limit and past them." The principal's proud and joyful voice washed over Izuku, who was beginning to feel tears building up as he recalled the memories he had of his school.
"In that time, you have shed blood, sweat, and tears in your efforts. As you stand here now, understand that you have strengthened every portion of your body, your quirk, and your spirit. All to fulfill the goal each of you have driven yourselves towards at full force."
The green-haired boy was taken out of his stare by an arm suddenly resting itself around his neck. He smiled on instinct as he immediately recognized the boy to side as one of his classmates, one of the heroes in training that he had learned alongside who might very well become his ally later in life. On his other side, the pair's grin only widened when they met with the second student, clearly feeling the same pride and joy in one of their last moments together.
"And now here you stand, with your heads raised high and your years of hardships behind you. As you take your first step forward to your future, never forget what you have learned here. Always remember where your strength lies, the people you have chosen to protect…"
The principal's speech slowed down as he reached the end of the sentence, to which everyone paused to look up at his smile. Every person that could see him pause knew exactly why, and it only served to rile up the crowd, even as they remained completely silent with passionate smiles waiting for what they all were prepared for.
"…And most importantly, remember to give it all…"
In one unified motion, the students shot up from their seats with the sounds of thunderous footsteps following in its wake. The crowd bellowed out to their principles and teachers, almost as if they were calling out to the world with their newfound independence as they raised their clenched fist high above them.
"PLUS ULTRA!"
Izuku had rocketed up out of his chair like every other student around him, no longer able to hold back his proud smile as he shouted his declaration. His proud cry was not just for the teachers who had brought him this far, it was also for himself. From the moment he had stepped into U.A's border's for the first time he had made a promise to himself, that he would one day leave as the man he always dreamed of, a great hero that could show the entire world his unflinching smile.
And now, with his doubts quelled and the thoughts of rigorous training behind him he could make good on the image we had been working towards all this time. He was determined to reach that peak, for the kind people who had cheered him on this far and for himself.
"In other news, many civilians are questioning the sudden appearance of All Might who has been recently appearing in Musutafu…"
The television attached high above the counter continued on with the next news story, capturing the three pairs of eyes and taking their attention away from their lunches. The ramen shop was nearly barren apart from those at the counter, a pair of office workers taking a break from their monotonous roles in an office.
The first of the pair finished his mouthful of noodles before he began to properly focus on the footage of the massive hero leaping from building to building and taking down villains. "Damn, so that's how bad the Number One Hero has it huh? Can't even get around Japan without the media hunting him down."
His coworker looked up soon after, blinking all four of his naturally born eyes at the screen and swallowing his last bite. He shrugged his shoulders and looked to the man on his left side. "Makes sense. Have you seen how little he's been showing up now? If he appeared any less he might turn into a full-blown cryptid."
The first man gave a sigh and rested on one of his closed hands, toying with the rest of his food with his chopsticks before he gave a small smirk to his thoughts. "I can't say I understand that guy, I mean he's the greatest hero in the world. If I were him, I'd be revelling in that fame and money all day every day."
A second passed of the two continuing to watch the television before the multi-eyed worker gave a chuckle and looked over again. "Maybe he's already thinking like that. With how much he's done for us the man deserves at least some time off."
"Heh, you might be...right…" The average office man looked over with a casual smirk that began to grow into a smile, only for it to suddenly drop as his eyes trailed away to something far behind his peer.
"What? What's up?" His coworker raised an eyebrow seeing him stare off into the distance and to his side. He turned his own head after finding nothing else in his expression, eventually finding his answer further down the counter that spiked his own confusion.
They had no idea when he had entered the building, only now realising the third man that had been eating his own meal in silence as he kept watching the news. The two of them both couldn't help but note how average his appearance was. In a world of quirks and physical mutations, his unkempt green hair, freckled face and six-foot-tall stature would simply seep into any crowd.
The face was not what caught the men's attention though. Instead, their attention quickly gravitated to his exceptionally out of place outfit. The man was sporting a dark green jumpsuit with black angular lines travelling down his arms and sides, which disappeared into a pair of white gloves that went up to his elbows in an oddly bulky appearance. They could clearly see the lean and well-built muscles as it was lightly defined by the form-fitting design.
At his waist, the lower half of his suit was separated by a red belt with four pouches lining the sides, holding up his pants that shared a similar design to the upper part of his outfit. The familiar green ended halfway down his thighs before it began to get covered by a set of black knee pads, which continued the rest of the way down and into his footwear. They could spot the hole and laces belonging to a pair of red shoes, but the rest was left out of view as they were slotted into two sturdy iron soles.
The two of them continued to stare at the man who seemed to be completely absorbed by the news show above him, slowly eating his katsudon as he stared blankly at the screen. "Is that...a hero?"
"Of course it's a hero. What kind of normal guy walks around dressed like that." His four-eyed coworker spoke in a hushed voice, suddenly conscious of his volume after he acknowledged the hero in the room.
They both stared at his dull expression, constantly drawing blanks on his average appearance hoping to find an answer. Eventually, the first office worker turned back to his peer. "So, who is he? Didn't you say you like to keep track of the heroes here?"
His four-eyed friend spluttered to himself before his head snapped towards his friend as he attempted to maintain his low voice. "How should I know? I've never seen him at all before. I don't think he's even been mentioned on the internet."
"Huh, really?" The office worker raised an eyebrow at his fellow worker for a moment as he processed, eventually bringing it back onto the man in question while they both watched him eat. "Well, I guess that means he's just a rookie that hasn't done anything importa-"
Before he could finish that thought, the pair flinched seeing the hero's brows noticeably furrow while the rest of his expression tensed for only a second. The almost frustrated look quickly disappeared, but his arms began to move at twice the pace, using his chopsticks to shovel the last pieces of chicken into his mouth before he picked it up entirely and downed the last of the broth along with it.
He placed the cutlery and dish back down and wiped his mouth with his napkin, reaching into one of his pockets while he tossed the cloth onto the counter. His hand returned with a handful of yen coins and a bill and dropped them by his finished meal, not waiting for more than a second before he stood up from his seat.
Without any other shift in his expression or even a glance at the two men, he turned himself away and calmly walked straight towards the exit. After the unknown hero had left completely, the pair of workers shared a confused glance with one another before they silently returned to their food, without any answer or impact left by the strange individual.
After the hero had stepped outside the shop, he gave a tired sigh to himself as he scratched the back of his head. By his count, he still had a minute or two left of his usual lunch break before he got back to his patrol, but he willingly decided to cut it short after the comments from those two men began to force some of his less than positive thoughts back into the focus.
It had been five years since Izuku Midoriya had graduated from U.A and was plunged into a world he had thought he was prepared for, only to be painfully corrected by the end of the first year. Even after he had gotten to work so fast, using the great work experience and impressive grades he had developed to put his foot into the door, he fell victim to the hero society's cutthroat standards all the same.
Modern heroes were more than just people fighting for the sake of others, they were full-blown celebrities with a near-constant presence in the media and a natural following of fans gathering around their image. With that sort of potential in a public image, sponsorships and merchandise quickly became easy money for both them and the several franchise companies on the side.
That precedence of popularity and flashiness may have been what had finally forced Izuku into this position. Public appearance and reputation became the forefront of what agencies were looking for in aspiring trainees, which was something he severely lacked compared to the rest of his talents.
With those demands and the already high precedence of being a U.A graduate, the very act of getting his foot into the door, let alone be given the chance, was made even harder than he could ever expect. He eventually found a place that would hire him, which he gratefully accepted despite their explanations sounding questionable and sleazy at the time.
They were more than happy to take him in despite his apparently lacking credentials, provided that he started working in the office portion filling out the rest of the heroes' paperwork. He was eventually moved into actual hero duties on the field after a year, albeit not in the way he was hoping as he was stuck underneath a different hero as his sidekick for two more years, with exactly zero recognition by the end of it.
Once he was given the chance to finally work on his own and properly begin his career, Izuku hoped that his unexpected turmoil would end after the first hurdle and he could finally get his name out. But yet again he found himself failing at the next struggle.
He at least already knew about the severe importance of any heroes' debut, the very first moment that new fresh faces begin to step into the spotlight and begin to truly get their name out into the world. Izuku saw his eventual debut as a chance to finally rise to his promise and moved towards it at full force, causing him to act far more enthusiastic than usual in hopes of making a good first impression.
Unfortunately, that same rare burst of confidence made him far too eager to make a name for himself as he went full steam ahead trying to prove himself. He had rushed to make a splash and finally step into the limelight, causing his grand and hopeful debut to be squandered on a common bag thief and influence absolutely nothing in the media that day.
The moment that he realised the mistake, the damage had already been done. After being acknowledged in a completely lackluster way before immediately being swept away by the stream of media on more recognised heroes, he didn't see any other chance left for him to escape obscurity with. The most he could do now was stick to his daily patrol and wait for some miraculous opportunity.
In total, Izuku had now wasted five years of his career waiting for that same chance. He could feel himself grow duller and more hollow as the weeks went on and the looming doubts of his worth seeped their way into his thoughts. He had yet to lose hope for that golden opportunity, even if his enthusiasm was beginning to wear down over the months.
The green-haired hero kept his gaze straight ahead, trying to pay no attention to the rare glances from the passing civilians that watched him walk by. To them, he barely stood out in the slightest considering the myriad of other heroes that strolled through the city waiting for the next incident to appear. The only difference between those ones and himself was the welcoming reaction from the crowds.
The subtle glances he was using to look around his view were enough to clue him in to the state of the city around him, taking in yet another relatively calm and peaceful afternoon. Within what felt like a week, the commotion that came from the usual villain attack was significantly lessened to a clear extent. He was genuinely happy about that fact, but it still felt bittersweet with how few chances were left for him to do anything.
Izuku pinched the bridge of his nose as his face slowly dropped towards the floor. His finger and thumb moved to rub his tired eyelids while he gave a tired sigh to only himself. With the lack of notice on himself, he allowed some of his tired state to appear as he did his best to reassure himself.
Forget about it Izuku. All you need is that one shot, that one good chance! After that you can get straight to work and make up for lost time! Don't let it get to you!
Despite his attempts to silence his thoughts, he never could stop himself from kicking himself over his own doubts. His gloved hand slid down his face as he forced himself to focus back onto his uneventful patrol, trotting forwards as he began to move towards a crowd waiting by the crossroads.
Beneath the ambience of a busy crowd chatting between themselves, Izuku could hear something faint in the distance closing in. He raised an eyebrow to the noise, noting how defined the pattern of footsteps were despite the clear distance from him.
He only needed to listen for another second before he immediately keyed into the source and the speed at which it was closing in on him. But by the time that his head darted behind him to find it, the sounds of thunderous and rapid stomping had already drawn close enough for the small group of people to notice and grow uneasy at the noise.
The moment that the crowd understood and turned towards the noise, the cause had already caught up with them and forced them to immediately stumble backwards when it overtook them. They were knocked off their feet in their shock before they could process what had charged past them and left two massive imprints before them in the wake of the rampage.
Immediately following the decimated path down the road lead the several stunned adults to find the culprit already making his escape. They could only stare in a completely overwhelmed daze as a giant with dreadlocks and tattered clothing sprinted past, his towering form almost rivaling the buildings on either side of him. His frantic stomping that propelled him forwards were enough to shake the cars in his sprint.
The men and women in the crowd were left there on the floor speechless, having come that close to a rampaging villain without any warning and leaving them in the dust in the same moment. All of them were too focused on watching him barrel into the city to notice the green-haired man still placed firmly on his feet, along with the smile that began to rapidly grow on his face.
Just as they were beginning to recover from their close encounter, they immediately flinched again as they felt a strong gust of wind hit their backs. The presence that some of them had only just realised was behind them had disappeared completely after the shockwave dissipated. When their heads darted around in their shock, they found the rest of the pavement empty behind them. With the exception of the small crack that had suddenly formed in the concrete.
In a matter of three jumps against the ground and city walls, Izuku was now bounding beside the buildings, refusing to take his gaze off the massive villain as he refused to slow his charge down for anything. Every part of his motion was done to keep his pace with the giant sprinter, every second that he spent in the air was used to prepare his body to leap and land, along with preparing his quirk to help him soar even further.
The moment his feet left the last surface, he looked down at his legs that had now lost their shine. He focused his quirk in his legs and willed them to glow again with an emerald green shine. As it covered the space from his knees to his feet, the air around him began to fly into the light, first circling his limbs before more and more was pulled in and he began to feel the pressure around his legs.
He prepared himself to land against another building as he flew towards it feet first towards the wall. Once he landed his new momentum caused his legs to quickly bend his legs in a crouching position. Just as his movement died, his legs fully expanded and he released the force that his quirk had gathered all at once, sending him rocketing forwards with a heavy shockwave of air erupting from where he leapt from.
His quirk, Attract and Repel, was responsible for the light periodically appearing on his body and the far greater power that had been added to his jumps, but compared to the rest of the quirks he had trained alongside, it seemed just as plain as he was next to the rest of the powers in his class like Bone Armor or Teleportation.
That didn't stop him from pouring all he could into training his quirk into a powerful and versatile set of techniques from such a simple power that could only pull things towards him and then push them away. He wouldn't have been able to do any of it if he did not have his quick intellect to study with or even think of so many ways to use his quirk.
It was these two factors that had carried him through his time at U.A, fueled by his dream and determination to become that same hero everyone believed he could be. Even when he could only think bleakly at times he would soon rise above it in his own time, for the sake of his friends and his family that had supported him all the way through. He had promised to them that he would truly make himself known to the entire world and let them all know that they can count on the great hero known as...
"Deku?"
The new voice that had suddenly made himself known beside him, staggering his next leap for only a second before he corrected himself and continued to jump ahead. Once he catapulted himself through the air, he turned his head to his left to follow the familiar voice calling out to his name. When his eyes met with the other hero now flying alongside him on the other side of the road, he couldn't help but deepen his excited smile.
Izuku watched the ninja-like man clad in a blue bodysuit and wooden armor begin to extend one of his arms made completely from living wood begin to grow and latch itself to the buildings beside him, allowing him to effortlessly swing above the ground and match Izuku's speed. The masked hero flew through the air for a moment before retracting his extended limb and sending out the next to grapple with.
"Kamui Woods! It's great to see you again!" Izuku called back just as he landed and immediately jumped forwards again. He had met the older and far more popular hero on numerous occasions, usually just after he had finished with the scene of a villain attack. From there, it didn't take long for them to become acquainted despite the few times they saw each other.
"Same to you Deku! It's been a while since I last saw you patrolling around here! How have you been?!" Kamui Woods faced the other hero with his expression hidden away by his headgear as the two continued to chase after the villain. During their prolonged conversation his attention sparingly returned to the giant man still trying to sprint away from the pair.
"I've been fine! It's been pretty peaceful over here so I haven't had much of a chance to finally get some real work done! What about you?! I saw online you're starting to develop quite the fanbase!" Izuku was forced to interrupt his conversation when the villain escaped his sight and recklessly dashed to his side and around the corner, which the pair quickly recognised and immediately began to follow him around the building.
The hero effortlessly landed down on the pavement for the first time in minutes before he immediately began rocketing into the air again, unintentionally drawing the attention of several civilians that surrounded his landing area. His angle was far lower than before as he aimed for the tall lamppost before him rather than the taller building.
As he flew past the structure, he sent out his hand to latch onto the metal pole and swing his momentum on an axle before he let go and jettisoned himself around the corner effortlessly. After a few rapid jumps against the wall, his place in the air was recovered and he was back to chasing the villain with an unmoving smile. "By the way, do you mind if I tag along with this catch?! It might help to finally start getting my name out there and getting some attention!"
"Go ahead! I don't mind asking for some extra help, since the rest of the team is- LOOK OUT!" Kamui Woods replied cheerfully at first before his eyes peeked at his target for less than a second and he immediately recoiled back in shock and began to lose the pace that had carried him.
Izuku shared a similar reaction after watching his peer's sudden jerk backwards, looking ahead of him and turning wide-eyed at the car that was now suddenly careening straight towards him. He was forced to waste the charge in his legs that he had prepared for his landing to instead dodge the massive projectile and fly towards the building ledge to his right.
The hero landed firmly on the top of the surface and immediately turned his head back to confirm the vehicle that the giant villain had undoubtedly been the one to throw it at him. When his eyes met with the car still flying through the air, his look of shock turned to horror as he saw the panicking civilians still inside as it began to fall out of the sky.
Before he could make it off the roof to save the person quickly dropping towards the ground, a thick branch of wood shot out to the undercarriage of the vehicle and wrapped itself firmly but also carefully around it. Izuku's view travelled down the curvy line of lumber until he discovered the end of it feeding into the end of Kamui Woods' arm, with his other limb similarly extending to an extreme length to grab the second car that had been tossed at him.
He looked up to see the other hero standing on top of the building, heaving the two cumbersome weights towards the ground delicately before his eyes locked onto him and gave a short nod back. "I'll get the cars to the ground safely! You finish this before this incarnation of evil even more people at risk!"
Izuku returned the signal back to him before aiming his focused glare back onto the escaping villain. From his angle, he could see the victorious grin that the giant was showing him while he continued to sprint away and grow the distance between him and the two heroes. His own expression quickly turned focused again as his lower legs and forearms began to glow and he leapt off the building.
As he began to fall, the hero pointed all four of his limbs towards the next wall in his line. The explosive force propelled him forwards at nearly twice the speed as before, allowing him to easily catch up to the titanic villain after soaring past three buildings in a single bounce.
With his momentum continuing to propel him forwards as it began to fall off, Izuku stuck out his legs and began to run along the side of the wall. The rapid motion allowed the new green shine over his lower part of his limbs to gather even more air than before as he felt the buildup of force grow more and more around his shins.
He saw the end of the wall arriving quickly and prepared himself to immediately leap, firing his quirk off once again at the last second and sending himself on a straight collision course with the villain. There was only a single moment of pause after he left the side of the building before he reactivated his quirk and covered his entire body with a bright emerald glow.
Izuku could feel every inch of him sucking in the air around him while he flew high above the road. The pressure covering him quickly turned stronger and more uncomfortable as the force piled on top of itself, which he understood well as the end of his preparation for his next attack.
The light from his quirk began to suddenly fade away from the top of his head and continue down his body, but the trapped air did not disappear away with it. As the glowing space continued to shrink, the stockpiled winds were dragged along with it and were forced to condense into itself even further as the light was now only visible on his left leg.
The already high pressure was now trapped in just the area around his shin, creating a chaotic mass of whirling air tinted by his quirk's green shine. He passed a single glance at his prepared attack before he locked onto the giant face he was flying towards. He could see the villain's head begin to turn towards him as he tilted himself midair and reeled back his glowing leg.
Before the far larger man could look over to see the green hero appear in his line of sight, Izuku's boot shot forwards in an instant and smashed it into the villain's cheek. His expression immediately turned to shock the moment his metal sole combined with the dense air around it collided with him. As his kick inched itself further into the skin, the hero gave an assured and determined shout to the world as he released the last of his special move and cried its name out to his target.
"AIR FORCE: BERETTA SHOT!"
The air around Izuku's foot expanded in an instant, using the combination of the immense pressure violently finally releasing and his repelling ability directing it solely into his target to create a devastating strike against the giant's side. The final impact caused shockwaves to ripple across his skin as the cheek caved in from the intense force.
The villain's posture couldn't react to the attack in the middle of his sprint and was immediately forced to travel through the air from Izuku's blow. With his sheer weight and size, he was only airborne for a few seconds with a slight spiraling motion before he came crashing down on the open road, decimating the black path as his back skidded across the surface.
He only came to a complete stop after his head smashed through the wall at the end of the line and was left laying down at the site of an empty railway. Moments later, as the rubble and smoke settled and the crowd had recovered from the shock of seeing a giant villain fall out of the air, Izuku landed on the roof of the station and walked to the edge to see the result of his devastating attack.
Kamui Woods dropped onto the same surface as his peer. He rushed over to the right of the edge beside where Izuku was standing, completely prepared to rejoin the fight even as the other hero was still simply staring down below. "Alright, I'm here! Where did the villain go-"
When he reached the end of the roof, he quickly locked his eyes onto the villain already on the ground below them. He flinched and immediately turned wide-eyed at the sight of the giant left sprawled across the rails and wreckage, with an obvious darkened bruise covering his cheek and blank expression left on his unresponsive face.
The hero's face turned to his side slowly, his look of shock maintaining as his view shifted from the unconscious giant to Izuku. The green-haired man looked over after a moment with his proud and excited smile maintained until he saw the shaken look in the eyes behind the mask and his expression began to shift into a more anxious tone. "Did I overdo it?"
"Not at all. You got the job done but...wow." Kamui Woods quickly reassured him before he could completely remove the shock from his partially hidden face. His view continued to shift between the hero and his handiwork below as he attempted to overcome his bewilderment. "I don't think I've actually had the chance to see you fight. I didn't know you were capable of bringing down someone his size with one kick."
"Ah, well...I haven't really had the chance to get any recognition lately so I got a little excited when I saw the opportunity right in front of me." Izuku nervously smiled at the praise as one hand awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck after the intense chase had swiftly ended.
The wood-clad hero paused before he placed his attention back and revealed a completely new type of confusion to the green-haired hero. "Wait, really? I understand that things have become a bit quieter around here as of late, but surely you had some chances when you first debuted."
Izuku couldn't respond immediately as he attempted to force a small grin back onto his expression as he turned his eyes away from the man's inquisitive gaze. He could only hope that his awkward expression was doing a good enough job at masking his dejection. "Ahaha...well...not really. I guess I've just been going through a string of bad luck lately."
From the only part of Kamui Woods' expression that he could see, it was clear that he was beginning to understand the real emotion that he attempted to hide. Izuku quickly tried to distract the man with his growing smile and a similar excited tone as before. "But this is the end of that painful part of my career! I'm finally going to get my name out there and get back on track!"
"Of course it is. I'm not the only one who noticed that blow after all. Take a look." The second hero had paused for a moment before he answered with a calm and happy voice. He tilted his head to look at the other side of the hero, which eventually caused Izuku's own gaze to follow the same direction as the two of them looked past the edge of the roof.
The sight that Izuku found waiting for him quickly made the rest of his body turn and move closer to the end of the surface. A new crowd of civilians had appeared out of nowhere, unable to stay on just the sidewalk as they flooded the open roads as well. The sounds of them cheering for the pair of heroes flooded the area as the masses began to pull out their phones and devices at the scene.
The moment that the green hero realised the sight, he could feel the years of unrewarded toil and hardships begin to lift from his shoulders. The disheartening thoughts that had been plaguing him for years were finally beginning to leave him. Slowly but surely, a genuine smile began to grow on his paused expression, almost bringing him to tears after working towards his first step for so long.
Kamui Woods only saw a glimmer of Izuku's smile from his angle, but what little he could see was enough to reassure his doubts about the man. Even on the rare occasions where the two of them met during work, he could occasionally see how the lack of success was wearing him down. It was strange to feel such relief for a fellow hero he barely knew after seeing just what he was capable of.
The warm moment ended quickly when the wood-clad hero picked up on the slight movement in the corner of his sight. The giant villain's form began to twitch as his eyes opened slowly. There was a single moment of shock on his face before he came to in seconds and already began to recover from his spot on the floor with newfound rage filling his expression.
"Look out Deku! He's getting back up!" Kamui Woods immediately turned to the other hero, who quickly snapped out of his daze while the crowd gasped at the titanic man rising from the debris around him.
The villain eventually came to his feet, despite his new staggered and slouched posture as he was still recovering from Izuku's kick. He kept his glare locked onto the hero responsible for the attack, giving a low, rumbling growl to the both of them after he spat out a bloodied tooth from the reddened side of his mouth.
The two heroes immediately dropped into their prepared stances, but were forced to immediately react when the giant gave a bellowing yet slurred roar and raised his large hand high above his head. In the next moment, the same arm began to plummet towards them and threaten to come down directly on their heads.
Kamui Woods quickly leapt backwards across the surface to dodge the overwhelming strike, while Izuku flew forwards with his quirk towards the villain as his palm crashed into the roof, leaving a deep hand-shaped dent in the roof. The green-haired man's trajectory sent him just over the giant's extended arm and past his shoulder, causing his head to dart his head to one side and attempt to lock his view back onto the escaping hero.
In the few moments that Izuku was soaring through the air, his ability activated and began to pull in air from around his glowing legs. Seconds later he landed perfectly on his steel boots after flipping himself midair, now standing on the railway and facing back at his far larger opponent.
As he expected, the villain had completely turned himself to focus solely on him after he had been the one to topple him with a single strike. Their standoff lasted long enough for the man to stand again before the giant immediately broke out into a sprint and charged directly at Izuku.
The hero followed suit quickly and rushed down the opposite end towards the titanic villain. Before the two of them could get any closer, the shining charge in the green-haired man's lower legs released and sent him rocketing forwards at a high angle. The behemoth was not prepared for him to close the distance so quickly and so much higher above the ground, as his form had begun to aim at the ground to hit the much smaller man.
As soon as Izuku left the grounded rails, he immediately swung himself around to point his legs at the villain. The emerald glow returned as he brought his feet back and readied another strike with both of his legs. As soon as he closed the distance between himself and the giant's chest, he sent his legs shooting forwards like a piston and crashed his steel feet with a powerful dropkick.
With what little time he had to generate his charge of air, the shockwave that exploded outwards was clearly weaker than the one he had used before. The force was still enough to shake his opponent's footing regardless as the power behind his kick and quirk caused his form to stagger.
With the sudden pressure shoving the upper half of the villain's body backwards, he tripped backwards and into the roof behind him. After crashing into the edge and leaving an even larger dent across the buckling metal, he shook his head to regain the enraged expression before locking eyes with Izuku as he hit the ground and rolled back until he rose back to his feet to stare back.
The villain gave another roar as pushed himself against the surface to try and rush and catch the green hero yet again. Just as he left his spot, his attention immediately caught onto the corners of his eyes as they were soon flooded by the sight of several thick branches shooting beside and past him in seconds before they suddenly changed direction and shot in front of him.
"LACQUERED CHAIN PRISON!"
Izuku was surprised to suddenly hear Kaumi Woods' voice call out when he brought his head up. He watched the lines of wood shoot out from the other hero's arm and wrap around the giant's arms and torso. Before the villain had any chance to escape the attack, the lumber turned rigid and unmoving after trapping him in a tight hold.
The green-haired man watched in awe after having a front row seat to the hero's super move as it almost ended the fight in a single moment. The thoughts of admiration were quickly mirrored by the crowd watching the fight unfold, who began to cheer for the man on the roof with a great applause.
From behind the villain still thrashing about in the near unbreakable grip, he could see the wood-clad hero peek his head to one side to look past the giant. With only a fraction of his clearly determined gaze present, he called out to Izuku through the boisterous encouragement filling the air. "Now! Let this villain have it!"
Izuku's look turned to a wide and confident grin and prepared his quirk for his own super move. He lowered himself closer to the ground and began to draw in air into all four of his limbs, waiting for the sensation of the growing pressure to wrap around his arms and legs before he rushed forwards on a direct path towards the restrained villain.
He released all of the wind around his legs after only a few seconds of running, causing him to rocket forwards at high speeds as he soared higher than before and aimed himself to fly directly into the giant man's face. As he drew back both arms and prepared himself to release them at once, he could see the newfound shock on the villain's face as he suddenly became level with his own.
With the adrenaline rushing through him, the familiar feeling of his quirk building around his forearms, and the cacophony of people cheering him on from the sidelines, Izuku found himself on an unstoppable rush of excitement now that his dream was only a punch away. Just as he sent both arms shooting into the villain's face, he bellowed out his own attack's name and prepared himself to fully embrace the future waiting for him.
"AIR FORCE-"
"CANYON CANNON!"
Before Izuku could react to the new voice booming over everyone or even land his attack, his entire vision was blocked by a massive wall of purple that lasted for only a second before it completely left in the same blurred motion. When his sight did return, he discovered that the villain had completely disappeared, leaving him with only the view of an equally stunned Kamui Woods with his extended branch arm now in splinters.
The flying hero immediately lost the confidence that had carried him after the staggering interruption, causing his form to slack as he began to fall towards the ground. He hit the ruined ceiling to the train station with an awkward and unprepared crashing, forcing him to tumble across the surface until he lost the last of his momentum.
Izuku attempted to slowly push himself from the now uneven roof with a small groan. After shaking his head and regaining his disturbed senses, the shock returned to his face as his head darted to every area in front of him in an attempt to find the criminal. "W-whuh?! W-what happened?! Where did the villain go?!"
After calling out to the second hero, he looked over to see the absolute despair on his face as he was left frozen in place, not caring at all about his missing wooden arm. His head slowly turned to try and find what had caused him to pause completely, which caused his own eyes to suddenly widen once he noticed the sight in front of him for the first time after his panic settled.
The once hopeful view he had of the civilians was now blocked out by a gigantic woman, eclipsing the villain's own size and most of the buildings around her. Her skintight purple and white suit was made clear moments later when the giantess turned herself around and bent down at her waist to show off her curves to the crowd watching her, not even passing a glance to the other heroes right beside her.
"Hello everyone! I'm Mt. Lady! It's a pleasure to be of ass-istance on my debut!" The woman gave a flirtatious wink to her audience, accentuating her rear with her motions and while she gave them a wide smile. The silence that had arrived immediately after her landing was swiftly replaced by more cheering and hollering from the crowd, no longer aimed at the pair still on the roof, but at the heroine's showstopping arrival.
With what little hope was still draining out of Izuku's expression, he looked down past Mt. Lady to catch a glimpse at the civilians watching her. The few phones that had been recording him and Kamui Woods had doubled in seconds, along with the arrival of several far more professional cameras as they were all now pointed towards the female hero. They were admittedly almost focused entirely on her curves and poses that she insisted on showing, but the spotlight that Izuku worked so hard to gain had been effortlessly stolen regardless.
The hero bit his bottom lip painfully to stop himself from shouting. The tension in his body continued to build with his rage and frustration. He clenched his fists tightly and began to raise them, but after a moment his body loosened completely and his rising outburst came out as just a tired sigh. In his excitement to finally escape, he forgot the lesson U.A had never prepared him for, resulting in yet another chance slipping past his fingers.
That's right...this is a cutthroat business...
