Title:
Harry the Tenza
Summary:
Inspired by: "Atypical Adoption" by "Lucillia". Lily Potter is a regeneration of Susan. Though her Time Lord genes weren't compatible with her wizard husband's. Still they desperately longed for a child. A passing Tenza feels their need chooses them to be his parents. Keeping them safe from Dark Lords. WARNING: Spanking, Yaoi, The Potters raise Harry.
Lily took a breath, as she hugged her new son. James was smiling widely beside her... she hated to break the illusion, he was just so happy... but she had to tell him.
"It's impressive work," Lily acknowledged, looking around the nursery.
It was set up exactly like how she would have done it.
"Jypsy," Lily whispered, as to not wake the baby.
The elf wasn't so subtle, appearing in the room with a loud pop.
The boy flinched awake, but didn't cry... he wouldn't would he? He would be too scared to be anything but the perfect child... it broke her heart a bit.
The child immediately started crying, now doing so because she wanted him to.
Lily smiled, as the elf began to freak out. "It's okay." Lily spoke softly to the boy. "I don't want you to do anything, but be you."
The baby stopped crying, and looked at her, confused. As if the statement did not compute. Despite him understanding her words perfectly. Not through any magics of the infant, he would still need to learn all that, like any other child. No, this was a special talent of Lily's. After all, she did speak baby. In several trillion dialects, actually.
Lily smiled sadly, gently touching the child's cheek. "Thank you, for choosing us."
Looking away from the baby, it seemed James had been able to calm the Elf. The tiny creature, the elf, not the baby, still looked like it was going to weep. But at least James convinced her, she didn't need to punish herself.
"Can you get me the photos, from our last get together with the Weasleys?" Lily kindly asked the elf.
Jypsy gave a sad sniffle. Before stepping out of the room, closing the door, and then popping away.
James smiled at his wife, "Bit soon to show him the family albums."
"They aren't for him," Was all Lily said. Somewhat enjoying James bewildered expression... and hoping he was the man she believed him to be. She still questioned why she loved him, given what an irredeemable bully he was in his youth. She hoped she was right that he grew into a good man.
She was scared to tell him the truth, for fear what James might do, but he had a right to know. She didn't, for a second, suspect James would hurt the child... but it was possible, he might not accept him...
Lily shook her head, Tenza only chose the most worthy of parents. No need to doubt James. He wasn't the brat he used to be... please be better then that, dear husband.
The door softly reopened, and Jypsy walked in, carrying the "Friend's Album".
James gently took it from her, thanked her, and attempted to dismiss her. However Lily asked the elf to stay.
"This concerns you, as well," Lily insisted.
Jypsy looked at James, apologetically, then sat beside Lily. After all, given Lily's family line, elves would always obey her, over the families they bound themselves to.
James sighed, shaking his head, "Always trying to steal my elf." he joked. As Jypsy had been bound to the Potter family, for several centuries now... and she was only middle age. Lily could sympathize. It was hard, being such a long lived creature, when the rest of the world lives as long as fruit flies.
"Find the latest pictures," Lily ordered her husband.
James shrugged, not understanding what this was about, but humoring his wife. Opening the album, and flipping the pages. "Here they are." He smiled, seeing the happy faces of his friends. It was hard, but equally important, to have moments of revelry. Especially as soldiers at war.
"Notice anything about me?" Lily asked.
James looked for a picture Lily was in. "Only your glowing face." he playfully flirted. Something he was, admittedly, pretty bad at. James was just so handsome, intelligent, and wealthy. Girls threw themselves at him, with little effort. It's what attracted him to Lily.
Where other girl's found him Charming, just for who he was. Lily found an irritating and entitled brat. She actually called him that to his face... which was the Moment James knew he must have her... strangely it wasn't until after he stopped trying to "Have her" that Lily showed an interest in him. when he started treating her like a person, sharing their problems with each other... that they both realized... they loved each other.
James didn't even care, when Lily confessed to him, she wasn't actually muggleborn, as everyone assumed. Sure, it had been hard to grasp that a "Sub-human", without an ounce of wizard blood, somehow got a Hogwarts letter... but James didn't care, and vowed to keep her secret... a secret she hadn't even trusted with her best friend.
But now, Lily dropped another bombshell. Possibly an even bigger one, "I wasn't pregnant."
James eyes stared, uncomprehendingly at the pictures. At Lily's flat stomach. These were just taken 2 weeks ago. A week before Harry was born. HOW WAS LILY NOT PREGNANT...
Because she couldn't have kids. The thought whispered in the back of James head, before becoming louder, and louder. Lily species might be humanoid, but it was incompatible with wizards. They couldn't have kids. Would never have kids.
"WHAT IS THAT THING!?" James jumped out of his chair, away from both Lily and the mystery baby. The album dropping to the floor.
Lily's eyes grew cold... even colder then when James use to "prank" Severus. "I don't ever want to hear you address our child like that again." She spoke with a serpents quiet Venom.
James long understood why she hung out with Slytherins. It's because she was deadlier then them. sighing, James rubbed his temple. "Please tell me you haven't been experimenting with blood magic again." though that wouldn't explain why he didn't remember they couldn't have kids.
"Of course I have," Lily rolled her eyes. "But that has nothing to do with this beautiful child... he chose us."
James groaned, "Please Lily. I'm trying to stay calm, but..."
Lily sighed, "He's a Tenza. They are a magical species of beings, that live in deep space. They have a habit of laying a few million eggs, once every few thousand years, and those eggs flying off across the galaxies. They instinctively select a couple, desperately longing for a child they can't have. Then become that child... he chose us, because he believed we could be good parents. Please don't disappoint him."
James took a calming breath, looking at Jypsy, imagining how his eyes must be even bigger then the elf's. "Can you get me some calming draught, please?"
The elf nodded, walking out of the room, once again closing the door, before popping away.
James sat down again, though not beside Lily. His breath strangled. They sat in silence, until Jypsy returned with the potion. Strangely one for both James, and the elf, herself. After they both downed them, James felt the warm glow of the potion activating. Then felt the panic wash away.
Now that he could think clearly, he asked. "So how old is he, really?"
"Looks to be about a week." Lily shrugged, studying James. Clearly saying, with her eyes, that if he didn't get over this soon, she would be asking for a divorce.
"Oh come off it," James glared. "Can't you just accept I have questions? The closest lifeform I've heard of that do stuff like this are Coo Coo Birds, and Changelings. And those things aren't exactly the nicest creatures."
Lily sighed, shaking her head. "He didn't replace any child we already had. He isn't going to feed off our essence, or any such vile thing. Tenza are a purely benevolent species. That rely on the kindness of strangers to raise their children.
"They choose their parents, based on their pleas, and how good of parents they feel they would make. Which you are seriously falling short of."
James sighed, burying his head in his hands, "Just because I have questions doesn't mean I want to get rid of him. I'm just... trying to understand..."
Lily tsked, looking away from James. To which he was reminded of the fury of red heads... though that had never, particularly, frightened him.
Looking at the small baby, he remembered the joy he had, just a few minutes ago. "He has your eyes..." James studied the tiny face. "and my button nose."
Lily softened. "Because he's our son. Tenza's psychically imprint on their parents. Copying our very DNA. Until he found us. He was just a glob of matter, in a floating space egg. Laid exactly 6 days ago.
"He knows nothing of the world. All he knows is we are his parents. Searching, and choosing us, was purely an instinctual thing... Even the Perception filter, he had on you, was more accidental magic. Due to his longing for us to accept him."
James hesitantly nodded, feeling a good deal better. "So he's a baby... like... a real baby? Not a billion year old god, in mortal form?"
Lily sighed, "Well... Humans do have a history of worshipping adult Tenza, as gods. They have the ability to bend energy and matter, that even a wizard would find impressive. They have a particular talent for interdimensional physics. Creating pocket dimensions and the like."
James' eyes widened, "He's going to have some frightening displays of accidental magic. Need to set up some extra wards for that."
Lily blinked, not expecting that response. James was still thinking about what was best for the baby... he really did just have questions about their new child. There was no darker undertone. Finally, a smile touched her lips, as she looked down back at her babe.
"The boy didn't mean to cause any such delusions, or crisis." Lily explained. "He doesn't even understand what he did. We'll have to explain it too him, when he's old enough to handle it... think of it like Adoption. Only we share the Child's DNA, and he chose us, instead of the other way round."
James gave a, far more firm, nod, before getting up... and retaking his seat by Lily. He gently reached for the child, and melted as the babe grabbed his finger.
"The only thing I'm really concerned about," Lily admitted. "Is how eager to please Tenza are. He's likely to just accept any cruel word spoken to him, or even outright bullying. Not a chance I'm letting my bitch of a sister near him. Tenza are even more obsessed about pleasing family...
"You know, We still need to name a magical guardian."
"We do?" James blinked. "I assumed we would go with Albus."
Lily blinked, "No offense to your honorary uncle, but he's over 150 years old. Besides, we already chose your friend as Godfather. The magical guardian should be someone close to me."
James immediately knew who she had in mind, "No."
Lily pouted, "Come on, he's smart, funny, willing to defend himself. Those would be important traits for a Tenza to emulate. Remus is such a bloody doormat, and people pleaser."
"He's a good man!" James snapped. Not willing to hear a bad thing about Remus. Especially not with how Sirius said he suspected the werewolf of being the leak in their war effort. Remus was a good man, damnit! He already had to deal with a lot of shite, in his life.
"I know he is," Lily assured. "But he does have a hard time standing up for himself. Especially to people he cares about. That's not a trait we should encourage in a Tenza. He's already, instinctively, inclined to such behavior."
James growled, "Bloody Snape."
Lily's glare returned. "May I remind you. The only reason you dislike Sev, is because he's my best friend, and happens to be a boy."
"He is completely in love with you!" James insisted. "It's bad enough you made me name my Harry after him."
"Oh for Merlin's sake," Lily scuffed. "Harold Severus Potter is a fine name!" She insisted. "And you must have liked it to, otherwise the Tenza wouldn't be named that."
James blinked. Just now realizing, he didn't actually name his son. Rather the boy read their minds, and determined what they would have liked to name their child. "This is so weird." He sighed, wiggling his fingers. Which the child still had a death grip on. "You're a little weirdo, you know that?"
Lily rolled her eyes, before encouraging her child. "Normal people are boring. You be as weird as you like."
The baby laughed, happily, before deciding to stick his father's fingers in his mouth.
"Ewwwwwwww, baby drool." James gagged.
Lily rolled her eyes.
She gently stroked the child's cheek. Lily informed, "Last batch of Tenza, humans worshiped as the Greek gods, batch before that, were the Egyptians. Their family line, seems to like our planet... probably because of my grandfather. He'd never let anything happen to this adorable little mud ball." she gently cooed at the child, "I wonder how many of you came here, this time?"
James blinked, then a strange question left him, "So he won't grow up lonely?"
Lily smiled fondly at her husband. "No, he'll eventually find a few of his siblings. I imagine they will all end up at Hogwarts. They don't settle too far apart from each other. Maybe a country over, but they tend to pick the same general borders as the swarm they traveled with. They're pack animals, after all. Family is very important to them.
"Their eggs usually pair off in groups, and fly over to a safe world, their birth parents point them at."
James frowned, looking at the baby, "Will their parents come back for them?"
"Not in our lifetime," Lily assured. "They will leave the kids, planet-side, to experience the world, for at least a thousand years. Which is why it's so important they stay close to their siblings."
"They'll need each other." James nodded. "Think we should start looking for them."
Lily shook her head, "They'll know each other, when they see each other. They'll be drawn too one another."
James hesitantly nodded... though he still thought it be nice if the kids met before Hogwarts.
