It was just a small stutter.
A faulty valve that, despite its flaws, had done its duty for thousands of years, finally failed.
The fail was immeadiatly corrected by the control system, rerouting the liquid flow to a backup system, but, for just a moment, the whirring of an ancient machine... stopped.
Silence.
Of course, no one was there to notice the eerie silence, deep in the bowels of a gargantuan machine, but...
Although unheard, the silence seemed to carry an inherent power, being felt, somewhere deep within, across the entire galaxy.
It was as if time had stopped, this single second seemingly dragging on for eternities.
It was a moment of silence.
