Dinner With Mum
Thomas was in his room doing his homework when he heard a knock at his door. *knock knock* "Come in," Thomas said, putting down his pencil. Chilli walks into her son's room and smiles at him. "Hey, since your dad is at a job site and your sisters are at your cousins house for the night I was thinking we could get some dinner and hang out," Chilli said with a smile. "That sounds good, where do you want to go?" Thomas asked with a smile. "Let's make a surprise," Chilli said with a chuckle. "Okay I'm game," Thomas said with a smile. "Alright then get ready and I'll meet you in the car. "Alright mom sounds good," Thomas said as he started to get ready. It wasn't long until Thomas was ready and met Chilli in her car. Once they were on the road with nightfall Approaching, they stopped at a Italian restaurant.
"Does italian sound good?" Chilli asked, looking at her stepson. "Yeah sounds good," Thomas said as unbuckled himself. The mother and stepson then went inside the restaurant and found a place to sit. "So, how's school going?" Chilli asked with a smile. "It's going good," Thomas replied with a smile. "Do you want to know why I picked this place?" Chilli asked. "How come?" Thomas asked. "Well, this is where I met your dad for the first time and we're sitting at the same table," Chilli explained. Thomas was a little surprised by this. "Really? Does it bring back memories?" Thomas asked. Chilli nodded, "it does your sitting in the same spot your dad sat in. "Oh," Thomas said with a chuckle. "Is something on your mind honey?" Chilli asked. "I just… when we first met I was upset as you saw and I didn't want you as my stepmom and I'm sorry for that," Thomas confessed.
"Hey, it's okay I understand it was a big change for you and for me," Chilli explained. "How was a big change for you?" Thomas said, taking a drink of his water. "Well, being pregnant with Bluey was a big change for me and well… being engaged to your dad was a big change as well," Chilli explained. "How did you know my dad was the one?" Thomas asked. "Well… I didn't, it took me a while to find love after my first Fiancé," Chilli explained. "There was someone else before my dad?" Thomas asked now surprised by this. Chilli nodded. "What happened to him?" Thomas asked Chilli sighed before answering. "He passed away from a car accident," Chilli answered. "I'm sorry to hear that mom," Thomas said with a concerned look on his face. "Hey, I'm okay about it now, I have a loving family and I love your father dearly," Chilli explained with a smile. "How did you get to meet my dad?" Thomas asked curious about how his stepmom met his dad.
"Your aunt Trixie set us up," Chilli said with a smile. "Really?" Thomas said, a little surprised by that. "Me and Trixie have been friends since college," Chilli explained. "I see that happening, I'm glad she set you up with my dad," Thomas said taking another drink of his water. Chilli chuckled at that. "I'm glad she did too," Chilli said as the waiter came up to them. "Are we ready to order?" The waiter asked with his notepad. Thomas looked to Chilli and asked. "Well mom? What's good here you and dad have some experience here," Thomas said with a smile. "I think you'll like what I order you," Chilli said before turning to the waiter. "My son shall the bacon Mac and cheese deluxe and I'll have the spaghetti," Chilli said. The waiter wrote down their order and then asked. "Anything to drink?" "Peach tea," Chilli and Thomas both said. "Sounds good," the waiter said while writing down the drink. "I'll be right back with your drinks and food," the waiter said before leaving. "I guess we're on the same page about tea," Chilli said with a smile. "Yeah I guess so," Thomas said with a chuckle.
"Mom?" Thomas asked as Chilli looked at him. "I'm glad we get to do this, it reminds me of when my mom and I used to do this," Thomas said looking down. Chilli smiled at that and placed her hand on her son's hand. "I'm glad we can do this too," Chilli said with a smile. The two then sat in silence for a bit before talking again. "So how long was it before you were pregnant with Bluey?" Thomas asked as the waiter brought their peach teas. "It was a few weeks and then I told your dad," Chilli explained. "What was his reaction?" Thomas asked. "He was so happy to be a father again," Chilli said with a smile. "Yeah, I bet," Thomas said, playing with his straw. "What were your feelings on being a brother?" Chilli asked. "It felt strange at first, only because it wasn't my mom having my sister," Thomas confessed. "Oh," Chilli said looking down. "I'm sorry mom, it was a Weird time for me," Thomas said looking at Chilli. "No, I understand," Chilli said looking up at her son. "I know it must have been sudden for you having your dad dating again and then suddenly having a new sister," Chilli explained. Thomas nodded in response. "You know we would have loved you at our wedding," Chilli said placing her hand on her son's hand. "Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't go, maybe if you guys renew your vows I'll definitely be there," Thomas said with a smile. "Your dad would love that," Chilli said with a smile.
"Here we are," The waiter said, bringing in the food. "Thank you so much," Chilli said as the waiter placed down their places. While eating the mother and stepson continued to talk. "So, how are things with Tori?" Chilli asked. "Things are good. I really want to ask her out," Thomas confessed. "Then why don't you? I really like her too and so does your dad and especially your sisters," Chilli said while taking a bite of her spaghetti. "I'm kinda scared to ask her," Thomas said blushing under his fur. "Aww," Chilli said with a smile. "But… it just feels like it was easy for my parents and you to have a love life than it is for me," Thomas confessed while taking a bite of his Mac and Cheese. "Why do you say that?" Chilli asked. "Because you and dad are so happy and I've never been in a relationship before, how do I know I'll succeed in this relationship?" Thomas asked, looking at Chilli. "Honey it takes a lot to have a relationship, me and your dad aren't perfect, we have our moments when you and your sisters aren't looking but it doesn't mean we don't love you," Chilli explained with a smile. "So what are you saying?" Thomas asked. "I'm saying follow your heart on what you think is right," Chilli explained. "But what if it ends up being how my parents ended?" Thomas asked.
"It won't, not every relationship is the same sweetheart," Chilli said holding her son's hand. Thomas nodded in response as he started to eat his food. "Mom?" Thomas said looking at Chilli. "Yes sweetheart?" Chilli said looking at Thomas. "I love you and thank you for being my stepmom," Thomas said with a smile before continuing to eat. Chilli's heart swelled up with love from her stepson. Ever since she met Thomas, he was always going to be her son whether he wanted her or not and making the promise to his mother that she would be there for birthdays, Christmas's, graduation and his wedding. Chilli couldn't help but to shed a little tear. She saw so much of Bandit in him and even Emily. They raised a great young pup while they were together and she felt honored to continue raising him. Chilli just stared at her son while he eats until Thomas's notices her doing so. "Is something wrong mom?" Thomas asked looking up at Chilli. Chilli only smiled and shook her head. "No, but I love you son," Chilli said with a smile. Thomas smiled at that before continuing to eat.
