Between the three of them, dinner shouldn't take too long. Amy's peering up at them, as if she can just see all the incredibleness that dinner will be. Amelia right now is off to the side, trying to teach Amy how to make an apple pie, as Toris works on cooking dinner.

It's a noisy dinner preparation day, and all of the noise will one day soon grow to be even more. Amelia's wide grin shows her own joy as she teaches Amy how to bake a pie as Toris cooks Cepelinai, a traditional Lithuanian food.

Amelia loves when her husband cooks Lithuanian food, even though it's relatively new for her, every single time that Toris makes her something from his home country, she gets excited. It's always cooked with love and steeped in years of tradition, and as she tries each and every dish for the first time, she does so with a kind of awe, a little reminder of all of the history that goes into each and every dish.

And not just Lithuanian history, but Toris' own childhood too, years of being raised on meals that he still savors. Much like Amelia has so many foods that she grew up eating and fell madly in love with from not just the taste of them but the memories of them.

And Toris has those kinds of memories with different kinds of foods, and it's such a wonderful thing to think about. Just as she knows that Amy will grow up with a mixture of the foods her mom loved eating as a kid and the food that her dad loved eating as a kid, and baby number two, that's on the way, well, he'll grow up with the same kind of food as his older sister will.
